Two Speaker Stands with 40-pound Lift-Assist and Carry Bag

Spend enough time setting up and tearing down PAs, and you’ll discover how tough it can be night after night. With the JBL Pro Gas Lift Speaker Stand Set & Bag, set up and tear-down are made a whole lot easier. These piston-assisted stands provide an impressive 40-pounds of automatic lift assist with a simple loosening of the collar. If you’re working with a speaker over 40 pounds, simply work with the lift-assist by providing your own muscle — either way, you will be amazed at how much easier getting that speaker up in the air and ready to go is with these awesome stands. In addition, a sturdy, stylish bag with comfortable carry handle makes getting these stands to the stage a lot easier.

Big problem developed at 3 1/2 years

By BenG from Colorado

The good news is these stands are very sturdy, holding my 50 lb QVC 12's with no worries of them giving way. A couple things to note, however, that drop this down to a 3 star rating;

1) The bag is a necessity, as these stands are very heavy, as stands go. However, I had to return the first bag when a zipper broke and the replacement is now on it's last legs, having lost a zipper pull and loosening threads around the handles. This is occurring at probably 2 years of use.
2) Where the legs attach to the bottom of the stand when in transport, there is a catch to hold the legs tight against the stand. This catch is extraordinarily tight, and it is a knucklebuster to pull the legs free as one sets up the stands.
3) There is unequal pressure in the gas lift, and has been since the day of purchase. They both still lift the minimum 50lbs, but one is much more robust, while the other needs coaxing to lift the speaker.
4) At about 2 1/2 years, I started to hear what sounds like a small piece of metal (nut?) rolling up and down internally in the speaker stand shaft. There is no simple access into that interiority, so I just let it be (too late to return them for a replacement!) At my last gig, a long screw fell out of the cylinder where the legs meets the shaft. It rendered the mechanism that latches the cylinder to the shaft inoperable, so the legs would not stay where I wanted to set them. I jerry-rigged it to get thru the gig, and was (thankfully) later able to retighten the screw into the cylinder. But I'm not confident it is going to stay there, as I'm curious if that metal sound moving up and down the interior of the stand is a nut that came off the other side of that screw. Don't know, but would rather feel I can depend on these for gigs; they are essential pieces of gear.

Wanted to let everyone know that that's my experience so far. These stands were VERY expensive and as such, need to have more durablity, IMHO. I've probably gigged/used them 75 times or so in 3 1/2 years.

Staging is easier with these Speaker Stands

By Frank F. from Fort Lauderdale, FL

We have 4 - JBL PRX915 15-inch Powered Loudspeakers that are really heavy. Simply put, these speaker stands make the JBLs feel like we're raising them in zero gravity.

Over The Top?

By Rich from Oceanside, California

I know this product may seem over the top at first, but once I set my speakers and released the piston, it almost seems magical! Super easy to elevate speakers.

Worth Every Cent!

By Sam from Montana

After having multiple brands of stands, Evan N. my Sweetwater rep and myself spent about 40 minutes on the phone. We went over multiple issues I have had with various stands. The design of these stands is well thought out and extremely effective. There are alot of features. No more twisting a bolt into the shaft of the stand to hold it in place. The adjustable leg is great for uneven terrain. My wife uses JBL JRX215 mains and at 60lbs each we all know the pain. My wife puts the speaker on its side and slides the stand into the base and then lifts the whole assembly into a standing position. With one hand she can raise or lower the speaker height. Very sturdy, almost zero wobble even where the speaker sits on the pole. Anyone using a heavy speaker setup I highly recommend the JBL gas assist!
