Quirky Machine
I've had this for quite a few months now. It's not the most straightforward thing to learn as a beat maker coming from a DAW-workflow, but I appreciate the little nuances and the skill it takes to make a beat on this thing. The effects are my favorite. I've used this thing to play long samples, beat sets, and as a performance instrument. This machine goes pretty deep, so be ready to watch youtube tutorials and manuals (both roland manuals and user-created manuals). I really dig the sample straight from usb feature. I can instantly sample from my computer or phone. Chopping on this thing is great too. It may not be for everyone's workflow, but it is an excellent tool on a situation-to-situation basis
a different sp404
definitely a great tool but if you have been a fan of previous SP models you may not appreciate the overreach of all the upgrades.
a lot of options for editing which is cool.
would be worth test driving at a store first. i prefer the og 404 for sure.
