Remo Silentstroke Drumhead - 8 inch Reviews

8" Mesh Drumhead for Acoustic Drums

Remo's Silentstroke mesh drumhead solves one of the most common issues Sweetwater Sales Engineers hear from their drumming customers - practice volume. Now you don't have to compromise playing-feel with thick rubber pads that don't give you a natural response, or ruin your gigging heads with ineffective dampers. This Silentstroke head fits your 8" drums and drops your playing volume exponentially, while still giving you the acoustic tone of your kit. End your practicing frustrations with Remo's Silentstroke mesh drumhead.

Works for Alesis Nitro Mesh

By Christian from North Carolina on October 16, 2020 Music Background: Funk, Jazz, Metal and everything in between

I needed a replacement for my snare on my Alesis Nitro Mesh electronic kit. I broke the stock mesh head pretty fast, and there are not many options for replacement heads on electronic kits. I ordered just one to make sure the 8 inch fit and worked and it's perfect. The head has more "bounce" than the stock heads, and make the kit look a lot more professional. I'll be ordering 3 more for my toms soon!

practice, practice, practice

By Dave C. on November 29, 2018 Music Background: Lifelong musician

Was blown away by how quiet these heads are, paired with practice cymbals I am able to play when I want without disturbing my family. Glad I tried these before spending tons of money on building a soundproof room.

Perfect solution for triggers and hybrid drums!

By Brad from Florida on November 15, 2017

These heads are great for silent triggering of electronic drums triggers. The only reason to buy a full electronic drum kit these days is if you have a space issue and don't have room for a full size acoustic kit.

I currently have an acoustic Pearl export series outfitted with these heads and Roland RT30 drum triggers and the results are amazing. No need to buy a really expensive acoustic kit as you won't be using the natural sounds anyway. I had an old Roland TD6V drum module and these head triggered pretty good with the Roland RT30's, but I upgraded to a Roland TD-15 drum module and they trigger perfect now.

I wanted to write this review to inform others as I have tried Roland's power stroke 2 ply mesh heads as well as a Drum-tec real feel 3 ply mesh heads. Everyone says the 2 and 3 ply trigger better, but I have found the opposite to be true, at least with the Roland RT30 triggers. Also I have found the 2 and 3 ply heads rattle around and are very noisy where these Remo single ply silent strokes have no rattle or buzz and are very very quiet. Plus the Remos are dirt cheap compared to Roland's 2 ply mesh heads. This pack is a great value. Great job Remo!

It's really great having a real drum kit to play vs the small electronic pads and aluminum frame drum stands. Buy these, an electronic drum module, a trigger for each drum and a cheap acoustic set and it will be a way better experience than a regular electronic kit.
