Shure SM7dB Active Dynamic Microphone Reviews
The Shure SM7B is a legendary vocal microphone used and held in regard by musicians, podcasters, broadcasters, and streamers worldwide. That said, the SM7B possesses a notoriously low output, requiring users to utilize an in-line booster to get a usable level out of the mic. The Shure SM7dB is here to offer you a more elegant solution. This dynamic microphone serves up the tried-and-true SM7B sound; however, thanks to its built-in active preamp, you get output levels suitable for any recording setup or application — no separate booster required. You can bypass the built-in preamp if you want to replicate the original SM7B's performance, and the SM7dB includes its predecessor's oft-used bass roll-off and presence boost controls. To top it off, the Shure SM7dB boasts the SM7B's iconic look, ensuring that you can benefit from the cache that goes along with owning an industry-standard microphone.

Amazing
There is absolutely nothing not to love about this Mic. I have been struggling for years to find a mic to capture my vocals with excellent clarity. This mic does everything I need and more. No buyers regret here. Thank you sweetwater.
If it was good enough for Michael Jackson....
If you have the best recording equipment but your room is not a good environment for recording you should buy this mic!
Room issues eliminated in my humble home studio and now all of my outboard gear really shines and tracking vocals is easy.
Vocal chain: Shure SM7DB > Neve 1073SPX > Distressor > RME UCX II > Studio One.
All purchased from Sweetwater.
Excellent Microphone
I have been using my Shure SM7dB almost daily since it arrived. The quality of the build is matched by the quality of sound captured. I'm doing mostly v/o recordings and have only minor quibbles. The integrated Cloud preamp is nice, but may not be necessary with the latest audio interfaces. Regardless, I love that the switches at the back of the unit are finally real practical switches! Prominent Shure branding and their black and neon green colors may not be for everyone, but suites me fine. If you're planning to mount on an arm be sure to also order the extension tube.
SM7dB Is the Permanent Fix to the Potentially Best Mic Ever
The SM7db is the permanent fix to a great, perhaps the best all-around microphone on the market. Not only is there no longer a need for the Cloud Lifter, but it gives both an 18dB and 24dB pre-amp option.
It's the best podcast microphone in my opinion on the market, and one half of the recipe to mic a Marshall.
I LOVE it. Will be buying more.
