Kramer SM-1 Figured Electric Guitar - Caribbean Blue Perimeter Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Mahogany Body, Maple Top, Mahogany Neck, Ebony Fingerboard, 3 Humbucking Pickups, and Floyd Rose Tremolo - Caribbean Blue Perimeter

Like a hot-rodded '80s original, the Kramer SM-1 Figured packs a ton of appeal for heavy metal guitarists. For starters, this solidbody electric guitar's familiar double-cut body and classic beak-style headstock were plucked straight out of the decade of decadence. What's more, its mahogany body gives it a warm sound with long sustain and acoustic resonance by the truckload. Its AAA figured maple veneer top ensures an attention-grabbing look that's impossible to ignore. Its K-Speed SlimTaper "C" neck and ruler-flat 14-inch-radius fingerboard ensures lightning-fast playability. And with a pair of Seymour Duncan Cool Rails humbuckers combined with a JB humbucker at the bridge, the SM-1 Figured delivers a world of vivacious tones to explore, from plucky cleans to rich, punchy rhythms and leads. Treble-bleed controls and a coil-tap toggle round out to this guitar's premium features. And since no guitar would be shred-worthy without a double-locking tremolo, the SM-1 Figured comes armed with the gold standard: a Floyd Rose. If you're dead set on a vintage-style shredder, then pick up a Kramer SM-1 Figured.

Beautiful guitar

By Jason M. from Greenville, OH

This guitar plays and sounds as good as it looks. The flamed top is simply gorgeous although it's got a lot more green in it then blue. The body reminds me of a dinky Jackson sizewise. The necks great, nicely finished frets and ebony board all nicely bound. It's very stable as well with the Floyd bridge and locking nut. It's got a lot of sustain to it and the pickups sound good but that's where my gripe comes in. Maybe it's petty but you're paying for that name on the headstock and these are supposed to be Seymour Duncan pickups loaded in it. Again they sound good; but there is no branding on the face of them at all. Not even the designed by Seymour Duncan. Just plain black plastic. Besides that I'm very happy with it. Sweetwater always goes the extra mile to make sure your guitar is ready to go and this was no exception.

Peaceful Green MONSTER!

By Chris from Knoxville, TN
Music Background: Self- taught since the age of 8.

I mean what can I say negative? A bit heavy but that's to be expected with the Mahogany, Floyd Rose (dynamic and excellent!), electronics to include Treble Bleed circuits: you can change volume/Tone at will without losing those high sustains!

The Floyd Rose does a great job complimenting the sustains with butterfly and squeal during mid sustain.

The chosen pick-ups are a genius pairing as the base tone on overdrive or as an undertone will always sneak in.

The finish on the front is truly AAA. Many times even Gibson stretches their finishes and calls them AAA when they are absolutely AA -- not this guitar! You must get it in the sunlight at least once to see how gorgeous the front finish is.

Everybody has a different ear and for some reason just keep fighting the war between Gibson and Fender (Have you seen the movie Cyborg?)

This guitar can perfectly conform to any monitors, pre-amps and stacks with little trouble dialing in the sound you want.

Five Stars here, I did not know that Gibson has, for awhile, owned Kramer. Just recall Bon Jovi and how Sambora manipulated his Jersey Star . . . amazing.

If you're on the fence: I say give something different a chance. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Beautiful Guitar in Every Way

By Shirl from NJ
Music Background: 40 years playing guitar with bands and as a hobby, rock, hard rock, metal.

Where has this guitar been all of my life! Received it very well packaged and opened it up 24 hours later as advised and was absolutely floored. The finish is absolutely amazing. Plugged it into Vox with Boss Metal Core ML-2 and became an instant professional. The smooth playability and tone of this instrument is beautiful. So much so that I purchased a second one and am about to open that purchase today. I've been playing Jackson, Ibanez, Fender and Ovation guitars. The Jacksons were always my favorite but I thought I needed a different amp setup until I plugged this Kramer in and realized it wasn't the amp. This Kramer guitar has been pure heaven in terms of the tone I have been forever searching for. Thank you Jeremy at Sweetwater for making both of my purchases an absolute pleasure.
