Hammond SK Pro 61-key Keyboard/Organ with 4 Sound Engines Reviews

61-key Virtual Tonewheel Organ Keyboard with 4 Sound Engines; Drawbar, Transistor, and Pipe Organs; Pianos, EPs, Synths, Brass, Reeds, Strings, Choirs, and Percussion; Digital Leslie; Overdrive and Multi-effects

At Sweetwater, the name Hammond commands respect. It’s synonymous with the classic tonewheel organs such as the B3 that played an outsized role in the music revolution of the 1960s and 1970s. In the digital era, Hammond assumed a leadership role in developing cutting-edge “clonewheel” organs that deliver those legendary organ sounds, along with all the other essential keyboard instruments you need for any gig or recording session. The SK Pro represents the latest generation of organ-focused, do-it-all keyboards from Hammond. Loaded with higher-resolution samples than previous SK series instruments and equipped with four robust sound engines that can be deployed individually or in any combination, the Hammond SK Pro ups the ante for breathtaking sonic realism.

Hammond sk Pro

By Quinn J. from Cullman, Al.
Music Background: folk. country & RNR & originals. Use lots of MIDI

Bought it for the fast & slow Leslie and it sounds great--Love it. Haven't got into the other features very deep yet, but what I've experienced so far, they sound fine. I've been using Korg M1 for my master KB but I want to use the Sk Pro. Hope that works out. Anyway--The Sweetwater experience was really fine. My order was handled very well & the follow up was appreciated. Thanks guys & gals. Gonna need some strings for my classical, electric & acoustic guitars soon, so see you then.

Had for 3 years, finally sing

By Sweetwater Customer from SPARKS, NV
Music Background: Keys guy for 50+ years....NV445 Reno NV current band

Was holding out for NORD Electro 7 to replace my 6, but BIG disappointment. The Hammond was a back-up... Dealkiller was no librarian program.. But sone enterprising USER wrote one (which Hammond SHOULD buy and improve into a patch editor.
So far, looks like it will outperform the Nord, pretty much in every way. It is not as intuitive, but I think Hammond took a long look at the NORD and laid it out similar (in the 3 piece layout).
Happy with it so far.

ill stick with my nord electro d6

By Julius S. from MOUNTAIN CENTER, CA

i bought the sk pro thought it might be an upgrade to my nord, imo, it was not. The hammond sound was maybe a bit more authentic, but without a side by side i couldnt tell. the electric pianos, horns and clav are in my opinion better on the nord. the nord, to me is better suited for live performance because you dont need to scroll thru a menu to make on the fly adjustments of individual sounds eq or effects. the hammond is a great instrument and a bit less expensive, but all taken into consideration i prefer the electro d6. if you are on the fence between the 2 i suggest talking with your sweetwater pro, he/she probably has a bit more insight on it than i do, but for now, im sticking with my nord.

Hammond SK Pro

By Guy L. from Washington, NC
Music Background: 35+ years of playing in church bands and traveling ministries.

I received the Hammond a couple of weeks ago and had some time to get used to it before our band played yesterday. It sounds better than expected!! The guys in the band love that genuine Hammond organ sound....so do I. I like the ease of recalling custom patches for quick access. Creating custom patches is a bit of a challenge, however. It has many desirable features, including the Hammond drawbars, individual volume controls for each sound engine, and a line-in input with volume control in the back. This is something for me to grow into!!

Very powerful keyboard

By Justin K. from MURFREESBORO, TN
Music Background: Professional Musician, Worship, Sessions

This is the first keyboard I've had with drawbars and organ sounds. It has some extremely high quality organ sounds and other keyboard sounds. What really makes it cool is the addition of strings, electric pianos, clavs, etc.

The keys feel nice and I've had a lot of fun playing around on it. It's really great for playing show and going in between sounds. Another great addition is the synthesizer, which has a built in FM synth sound that's fully customizable.

I'm not sure how this stacks up against the Nord, which appears to be the Fender Strat of Keyboards with how common they are. However, I've always heard good things about the hammond, and I have not been disappointed.

This is a solid Keyboard, easy to use, easy to learn, and it's taken over as my main stage keyboard. Highly recommended.

Also, I got the keyboard crazy fast--literally the day after ordering, which is insane seeing as my card was declined on the first payment. We got everythign squared away quick.

Check it otu, and make sure you go through sweetwater.

Went to Buy an Organ, got an amazing synthesizer

By Justin K. from MURFREESBORO, TN
Music Background: Session Musician, Production

This Keyboard is something else. I was originally wanting to pair it with my Korg Opsix and Kross 88, but after playing with it for a few minutes, I realized this is not only an organ, but a very powerful synthesizer. It has a number of features customizable with the synthesizer, and some nice sound banks with Pianos, E. Pianos, etc...

This thing slaps. It's fun to play, sounds great, and the keys feel great. The version I have uses waterfall keys, which still feel fast and respnsive. I love the fact that its power supply is one a Universal power cord, so no having to look and make sure you have the correct voltage/amps... I work in IT, so i have tons of these just lying around.

If it weren't for the fact I know the ins and outs of my Korg Kross, I'd just gig with this keyboard. Definitely recommended.

GREAT HAMMOND ORGAN

By Cesar E. from Puerto Rico
Music Background: Profesional Musician, University of Puerto Rico Music Profesor.

I've had the Hammond XB-2 for stage and recording for many years, but the Hammond Sk PRO sounds great and performs better than most for live play in addition to its light weight. Sweet Water has been very important in making my music sound great with my band The Universals Rock Band. Im 70 and I have played nonstop since 1969, always relying on Sweet Water. The guidance and attentions of my Sales Enginner Bryan Encalada has been unsurpassed. Thank you very much, Cesar E. Santiago

Sk pro 61 key

By Pastor a. from Chicago Il
Music Background: Playing for now 35 years various gospel artist and church in Chicagoland area and indiana

This keyboard by Hammond is the best organ combination yet that I have ever heard The internal Leslie is sound better that what I expected. There are other great tones that sound strong and amazing no cheap or cheesy sounds. I only have 1 regret is that I need a Leslie now! The 3300 would be my choice! I also gotta get the pedal board also!

Over the years I used Roland vk8 with Leslie 3300
Nord c2d with the Leslie 3300
Casio 7600 neo ventilator sounded great also but this skpro has but my ventilator in the closet I tried with this and it still sounded great I want to thank Alex McKinney for all his time and help

My First Real Hammond!

By Greg J. from Albuquerque, NM

I've been playing piano for 50 years but didn't dabble with the organ until COVID. As I learned more (and learned what to listen for), I discovered that the Hammond organ was the foundation for most of my favorite classic rock songs from the 70s. I toyed around with the organ section on my Nord Stage 88, but it never really felt like an organ. I finally decided to invest in an SK Pro just for the learning experience, and I have enjoyed every minute of working with it since it arrived. It is probably the most customizable keyboard I have ever owned. There is a steep learning curve with the in-depth OS and all the options, but I can see that with a little study and experience, there's nothing organ-related that I won't be able to do with this board. The keyboard is amazing, and the organ engine is second-to-none. My next purchase? A real Leslie!

Totally Blown Away

By Bill J. from Wading River, NY

This is an amazing organ!! I've had several organs over the years, from a Yamaha YC30 back in the 1970s to the Hammond SK2 recently. Now, with the SK Pro, nothing comes closer to the real sound of a B3 (C3, A100, etc.), except possibly the Hammond XK5 which has the same organ engine as the SK Pro! The SK Pro sounds far more beautiful than the SK2. With my old SK2 I needed a Neo Ventilator II and Tall & Fat to have it sound reasonably OK. The SK Pro, on the other hand, is a completely new instrument unlike anything Hammond has ever made. The built in Leslie rotary speaker sounds fantastic! No Neo Vent needed. Plus it has a fully adjustable mono synth, and it has polysynth sounds as well. All the instruments are greatly improved in sound and feel as compared with earlier models. They are all top quality. The keyboard is wonderful to play. The design of the controls is brilliantly thought out. I can't praise the SK Pro enough! Even the color is cool, a dark blue/green. I love it! If you want the best sounding organ you can buy, that plays super well, together with a full range of other instruments that also sound wonderful (pianos, strings, synths, choir, bass, and more), this is the organ for you. It's worth every penny.
