The King of the Flattops Indeed!

By Dave T. from North Dakota on February 13, 2024 Music Background: Retired Professional rock, country, blues

I still can't decide if it's more beautiful to listen to or to look at, I've wanted a Gibson Jumbo since I was a young boy, and am just tickled with the big sound that comes out of this work of art. Hat's off to Cameron at Sweetwater for the excellent service.

Top of the line

By James Walden from Georgia on August 1, 2023 Music Background: Professional

I own Martins D41, D28, etc and old Gibson Dove but this SJ200 is spot on. Smooth player, action is perfect, tone out of this world. Looks wonderful and the pick up system is the best. Definitely recommend.

King of the Kings

By Jack from Pittsburgh PA on February 16, 2023 Music Background: Hobbyist/Collector

I am a guitar hobbyist and collector. I have been playing for over 40 years but I am not a performing musician other than playing with friends or if invited to play at parties. The beauty of this guitar in both it's physical appearance and it's sound is off the charts. I have many other acoustic guitars and it's only taken me a day to crown this Wine Red SJ200 the King and I'm pretty sure I won't be changing my mind. The Wine Red color is absolutely stunning and the sound is nothing like any of my other guitars can match. The price tag for a guitar like this is extremely hefty and I'm fortunate I have been able to save money over the years to be able to add such a guitar to my collection. There is no buyers remorse on this one. This was my first time dealing with Sweetwater and it's easy to see that they are definitely about customer service.

Best acoustic guitar I've played

By Daniel Yechout from Boulder, CO on August 28, 2022 Music Background: hobbyist in a duo

I've come to love the Gibson acoustics built in the last 20 years. I migrated to Gibson for the wide 1 3/4" nut and 12" fret board radius. A red wine jumbo SJ-200 is my aesthetic dream. And I have the LR Baggs Anthem pickup in all my acoustics, which is the only pickup I've found (not that I've tried them all) that accurately captures the guitar's sound plugged straight into my PA. I only play in my home studio with my duo partner, so feedback on the mic pickup is not an issue. I agree this guitar is like playing a grand piano when finger picked. But it has a warm, soft, lush sound when strummed that is perfect for accompanying voice. The recorded sound is just right. The guitar doesn't over power and sits unnoticed, in a good way, in the mix. I find the bass to be quiet, the opposite of boomy. That's what I want. Songs that we struggled to realize on recording now sound right. Big thanks to my Sweetwater rep Dan Vranic for securing this guitar as they were hard to come by at the time.

Truly a magnificent guitar! The Gibson SJ-200 in Wine Red…you’ll want to play John Cougar Mellencamps’ CHERRY BOMB song …Awsome!!!

By RON PARK & FRIENDS from FAIRFIELD, CA on April 8, 2022 Music Background: PROFESSIONAL

You must have this guitar if you are a serious acoustic guitar enthusiast! It begins with the overall appearance which is stunning to say the least, however, when you play your first chord you know exactly why you made the decision to purchase one. I recommend you select the Wine Red finish. It is so deep, rich and luxurious you will not be able to set it down, you will just want to keep on playing it, as do my fellow musicians that play with me. Plugged into my Electro Voice EVOLVE 50 system with a Behringer XR18, the LR Baggs factory installed Anthem Electronics system delivers ALL those famous deep rich bass tones and the crisp clear mid and high tones that this instrument is famous for producing. The Gibson quality is everywhere on this instrument and, like a previous review stated,…"It's like playing a 9' Grand Piano". I now want to take this to every performance I play. Get yours NOW! If you do not have a contact at Sweetwater, call and ask for Evan Neiman. I have been dealing with him for years and he will absolutely take care of you from start to finish…Evan will never be satisfied until YOU are satisfied!

A beautiful, handmade, musical tool for expression

By Drew W from Atlanta, GA on January 19, 2022 Music Background: Songwriter, performer

The neck feels great in my hand, fills the natural curve of my palm nicely without being bulky. The frets are easy on the fingers at the 25.5" scale length. The tone is beautiful, so evenly balanced with a satisfying bass response and mid-high frequency sparkle, like a slight "smiley-face" eq. The guitar body is solid wood, but lightweight. The result is a resonant instrument you can feel against your chest as you play. The LR Baggs Anthem is perfect for this shape and size guitar. The amplified signal truly represents the guitar well. The nitro finish is beautiful, and the pickguard is just so much fun to look at. This is truly a statement piece for live performance, and that statement is, "Worth It!"

Gibson SJ-200

By Sweetwater Customer on December 29, 2021 Music Background: Professional

Great guitar. Big, fat, even sound across all strings. Like playing a 9' grand piano. Comfortable neck, wider across the fingerboard than my Martin. Craftsmanship is excellent down to the finest detail.
