Incredible sound
These are beefy strings with an awesome tone and feel. Of course, I'd expect no less with Steve Harris's name on them. They deliver.
Work great
Bought them as a gift, but overall they're a great product, my brother plays bass in a Iron Maiden cover band so they come on great for his performance and has been using them quite a time now. Plus they came in in a short time so that's an extra win.
Strings of Maiden
Steve's sound and playing style is what makes Iron Maiden so good and these strings are big but killer. Great strings.
Been best flats I found so far
These strings have been a joy playing. They don't cut into skin like others. I've used a more expensive set and they kept breaking. Last set of the Steve Harris strings last me 4 months and still keep them for back up.
Good strings
These are good strings. Slap them on a P Bass for that thump well known in the music industry. I'm not saying they made me play and sound like Steve, but they are really good l
I can't say enough...
I simply cannot say enough about good things about these strings. I have been using flats on my Schechter for years but I just moved my LTD B-50 over to the Steve Harris Signature series. I have been using round wound strings on this bass since I got it six or seven years ago. This is my secondary bass as my Omen-4 is/has been my main ax for the last five years.
When switching from round wound to flats you more than likely will have to do a new set up or have it done as there can be a fair amount of difference in tension between the two styles. With my Omen-4, I took into Sweetwater and had their top notch tech's set it up as I was not sure on what to do and not comfortable doing it myself.
These many years later, I decided to set the B-50 up myself and found it to be pretty straight forward with the right tools.
Back to the strings, they are super smooth to play and provide that undeniable punch. Flats I find allow me to play far longer without any discomfort and again much like the 77's I use on my Omen-4 there is no genre you cannot play with flats. What I didn't say in my previous review of the 77's that needs to be said, I am a huge fan of the sounds from the 50's to through the 80's some of the best music ever produced (imho) and much of the back beats and rhythms were produced on flats.
With that said, if you are on the fence, don't fret, give these a go, I am sure you will find that you will love them as much as I do.
SH77 Flat Wound Bass Strings
These strings are the best I have ever played. They sound fantastic on anything you put them on.
My Schecter is now tuned BEAD
Due to my hobbit sized hands, I am stuck with 4 string basses. No worries, but on occasion I miss having a low B string. I have used d'aderio chromes for years on almost all my basses, so as I installed these sting I was shocked that while they feel thicker, they fit then nut on my Schecter. So as I was tuning up I stopped at BEAD...tension was solid, neck felt the same, action was about spot on...plugged it in and, while it has slightly less output, they are very bright feel great, so yay! Sounds awesome, and I now want to try them on my Godin A4!
Changed my sound
I love Rotosound strings. I made the switch to flatwound on my two main basses this year and I put these on my Fender '51 re-issue precision bass. I fell in love with that bass all over again after putting these strings on. It gave me the sound and feel I had been looking for. You cant beat Rotosound bass strings, and it doesn't hurt I'm a huge Steve Harris and Iron Maiden fan.
Sound like 'Arry
To sound like Steve Harris these strings are a must. Your volume will go down slightly but they are easy to play finger style. Be warned the create a lot of tension. I would not recommend for use on skinny neck basses.Love them
'Arry' strings
I changed out my old strings for these. Love the way these sound. Once I got my Steve Harris signature P-bass, I had to purchase new ones to replace the factory ones. Bad***. Up The Irons!
Thats Harris sound
I like these strings a lot but don't use them on a thunderbird as they stress the neck and tailpiece. They are big and the feel great. I have always liked the sound of these strings .The don't growl like roundwound strings but the have a great sound when equalized correctly. They sounds great for about three months then they get dead sounding. All Rotosound strings are of very high quality and worth the extra bucks
Almost
While I totally enjoy the punch and tone of these strings, I wish the string surface was smoother. I hear the interaction of my fingers and strings particularly when playing my fretless. I find that I need to tweak compression.
I like doing business with Sweet Water!
I like the sound of the new bass strings.
STEVE HARRIS BASS STRINGS
ive used these strings before. they have a great slap tone and presence I play seven string bass as well
Awesome sound!
These strings sound amazing. Great tone and feel. The only reason why i am giving them a 3 star rating is because of the tension they have. Way too much tension for me when i tune e standard. Awesome sound tho!
Agressive Flats
These are some agressive sounding flats. Very metallic sounding to me. I didn't like the sticky feeling of light corosion I felt when I first put these on. They are just in paper envelopes in there. Not air tight. If they have been on the shelf a while I guess they will get this patina and slow down your playing. HOWEVER, after like a week of practice all the grey stuff came off on my fingers and the strings seem to be more smooth. They are also kinda stiff. Not my cup of tea. Looking for the next set to try already.
Bad G string
The other three string sound great, but the g sounds flat. It's almost like a dead string.
