Monstrous fuzz

By Clifton Gardner from Birmingham, AL on April 9, 2024 Music Background: Hobbyist, recording musician, Christian punk, alternative, and praise and worship

Firstly: I'm not a big fan of fuzz. But I'd heard good things about this pedal, and I bought it on a whim on sale one day when Sweetwater blew them out for less than 20 bucks. I figured it was worth the price just for fun.

Anyway, it's a permanent fixture of my pedalboard now. I run this into a Westminster Effects 2716 Dual-Rec-In-A-Box pedal which then runs into my clean Traynor YCV40 40-watt 1x12 combo amp. Not only does this thing rip on its own, it stacks beautifully with the 2716 - the mix of a sub-octave, hard clipped fuzz, and smooth cascaded gain of the 2716 creates some absolutely NASTY rhythm tones on the bridge pickup of my Gibson SG and some butter-smooth lead tones on the neck pickup. Octaves and fifths sound surprisingly great as well, so you're not limited to single notes with the fuzz engaged. The boost function works well too, but I rarely use it. One advantage this pedal has over the long-discontinued Boss pedal it's based on is the ability to combine the octave fuzz sounds of modes 1 and 2 by putting the plastic switch halfway between them. I typically stick to fuzz 1, but you can coax a large number of sounds out of this. It really is like having several excellent octave fuzzes and a decent boost all in one (extremely cheap) pedal.

Will it hold up? It feels solid enough for a plastic pedal; I play mostly at home, so I'm not really rough with my pedals. But good grief, for the price, can you really complain? You can buy ten of these and keep them in a box in case they failing for less than you can find the original Boss pedal it's based on - used! But don't let the price fool you - the tonal quality of this sub-octave fuzz is top-tier. Truly fantastic.

Super-fun, super-light, and super-cheap... Super!

By Pat The IT Guy from Mostly USA on February 15, 2024

For those who don't know, in 2015 Behringer bought TC Electronics, trying to get into the more up-scale market instead of the no-scale one. A year after that, both brands (the guitar gear stuff) stopped selling to non-huge distributors (think Sweetwater and bigger). Behringer also copies a lot of TC electronics (parts & designs) to keep them in the cheap market.

So don't expect much from Behringer ever, and now TC is heading that way. Everything is Chinese made.

I give 5 stars because it is what it pretends to be: A cheap Fuzz! It won't class up your pedalboard, but it's fun for the kids to bang on and destroy, as you won't miss it.

There is a place for super cheap, and I'm glad it's there for getting young kids into music, and not being snooty and unavailable. Learning is hard enough.

Killer. Absolutely Killer….

By Brian Zee from Philadelphia on January 30, 2024 Music Background: Almost 40 years playing guitar. Lead guitar for the renowned Jukebox Zeros (Rankoutsider Records) from Philly.

Add me to huge list of players who dropped $ on a cheap pedal to mess around with. Was blown away by how killer the fuzz 1 setting was—-then realized the boost setting was a WAY more effective high gain boost than the $130 boutique boost I've been using for years.

Doesn't leave my board. Yes, the plastic housing looks and feels slightly unsturdy. I might just go ahead and buy a second one as a back-up, just in case.

I considered not writing this review, because I am worried Behringer is going to double the price of these things. But, I'd probably pay triple if I had to.

Yeah, it's that good

Great boost.

I use it for a boost.

Found the Fuzz I've been searching for!

By David Horvath from Hanover, PA on January 3, 2024

Finally found the fuzz I've been searching for. I can understand why this pedal is Sweetwater's #1 selling pedal.
The fuzz 1 setting is great for Hendrix. Fuzz 2 is great for Sound Garden and Audio Slave. I placed the Super Fuzz after the Empress Para eq(Boost on) and wow! What a sound. The Super Fuzz also gives you an octave effect when using the neck pickup.very cool. What a bargain. This is staying on my pedal board.

My first guitar pedal!

By Beth Redmond Walsh from Cambridge, MA on December 26, 2023 Music Background: Started learning about and using synths about two and a half years ago

Behringer Super Fuzz SF300 has been a very good addition to the two Korg Volcas and Korg volca mix that I have had for a while. My boyfriend suggested I try using his Behringer Super Fuzz pedal with my gear so I did and took a liking to it right away and got one of my own. It has helped me to discover many ways to change the feeling between the Volca Beats and the Volca Drum when using both the volcas to make beats. It gives me a whole new range of distortions to blend and tinker with using it with Volca mix. Having a great time with it

Nice pedal

By Randall Palmer from ADRIAN, MI on December 5, 2023

Works good, sounds great. LOTs of adjustability. Last pedal I had was ON-OFF. This one give you a very wide range on the type of sound you want. Perfect for me

Love it.

By David Broce from Little Rock, AR on November 10, 2023

If you're worried about it breaking, you can buy two. If you think it's ugly and cheap looking, you can paint it, put stickers on it? It's not going to break, but will probably wear out over time, maybe. The worst thing about this pedal is players egos that won't allow a Behringer pedal on their boards. Wake up, it's a great fuzz.

Great fuzz

By Zachary Harward on November 10, 2023 Music Background: Playing guitar and bass for 15 years, record in home studio.

I use fuzz and overdrive for all my dirty tones, and I love this thing. I have zero problem putting on my board next to my handmade boutique fuzzes and my Walrus Audio pedals. It's over the top and crazy and I love it.

The two sounds you get are a super compressed, heavy, mid-scooped sound that reminds me a little bit of my two Big Muffs, and then a screaming octave fuzz. My understanding is that this is a clone of a Boss pedal which is itself a clone of a old-school Super Fuzz.

The compressed tone is crushing and great for huge power chords. The octave is spitty and nasty and great for leads or screechy power chords. If you want a subtle sound, THIS IS NOT IT. It's so dramatic that I tend to leave it on through the whole song, because switching it on in the middle is just so shocking lol.

Disclaimer for "noise": High gain = noise. That's basic physics. There is definitely noise here, but when you're driving this much gain, the noise is par for the course. If I were to crank my Big Muffs this much, they'd get noisy too. But there is a simple, timeless solution for that issue: just play. Any high-gain pedal picks up and amplifies whatever sound it gets as input. If you don't play, it amplifies your pickup noise. If you play, it amplifies the much louder notes. In effect, if you play, the noise completely goes away.
And if you're gonna be standing around, not actively playing, then either turn the pedal off, get a gate, or try a Fuzz Face/Tonebender style fuzz. Less gain, less noise. This pedal is ALL the gain. As an afterthought: For anyone who records themselves, I find it easier to just mute the track when I'm not playing. It's easier and more precise than fiddling with a gate.

Five stars. Would buy again.

Serious Fuzz for the Money

By George Lester from LEBANON, OR on August 25, 2023 Music Background: 50 Plus years guitar, some harmonica and keys

Yeah, at first I thought I'd probably snub this pedal after hearing reviews about the plastic build quality and because Behringer's reputation as a entry level budget pedal provider. I pulled the trigger and bought it because the reviews on the tone of the pedal were very good and the low price. and I have it sitting on my nightstand with a few other pedals. Be warned, this is definately a Fuzz pedal and not a Distortion. It's actually on an isolated T-Rex power supply simply because there was a 9 volt port handy. I don't imagine that I'll be breaking it because I am using my fingers to switch it on and off. About the tone, Wowzers, I love it! It is Nasty with a capital 'N'. I primarily use the Super Fuzz with my Fender Strat's Humbucker. I think it plays best with power cords or for soloing, which should be a surprise to nobody. I prefer the 'Fuzz 2' setting, although 'Fuzz 1' is also quite usable. I actually think that I like this better then my Nano Big Muff Pi, however that could change because I'm adding a JHS Volture voltage sagging pedal to the Pi soon and that's going to change that setup quite a bit. I'd say if you are going to use the pedal in a home setting, then go for it, at this price, it's practially a no-brainer.

Great fuzz

By Sweetwater Customer on August 16, 2023

For this price the plastic housing isn't a problem. It's actually very well made and sounds fantastic. If your wanting to add a cheap pedal that you can mess around with the sounds on for hours , this is it.

Excellent Fuzz Clone

By Tommy Tranq from Silver Spring, MD on July 3, 2023 Music Background: Electronic Music

The Behringer SF300 is a fantastic sounding emulation of the Boss FZ-2. I wanted to get the Boss pedal for a while after finding out Orgy used the FZ-2. I use mostly synths and I make mostly techno & electronic music but I've always liked the sound of industrial metal synths & guitars. Before I could buy an FZ-2, I heard about the Behringer clone and with its price point it was a no-brainer to try it out. I've absolutely fallen in love. I really enjoy putting my guitar through this but I REALLY love putting my synths through this. I've had a lot of fun running a Korg Monotribe, which is a completely analog groovebox, through this. It sounds great. I like the two fuzz modes. They each have a different character. The bass & treble knobs are wonderful for shaping tone and the gain delivers increasing levels of character. I haven't used the boost at all because I'm interested in fuzzing not boosting my signal. It's powered via 9-volt battery or standard 9-volt pedal power supply. Anyway beyond the value, which is truly fantastic, this is actually a great pedal and I hope to never part with mine.

The Fuzz 2 setting is fantastic.

By Crunchtime Sorenson from Ludlow Mills, Ohio on June 28, 2023 Music Background: Been at it since G-Dub’s daddy was President.

I don't get along with certain fuzzes. I'm quick to point out when I don't think a pedal is worth its asking price. There are plenty of inexpensive ones that I just don't think are worth having if someone gave them to you. That said, this Behringer has one of the best fuzz tones I've ever heard. Dunk on the build quality all you want, but it flat-out sounds wonderful.

Finally found what I've been looking for.

By Steve Ramsey from Bucyrus, OH on June 14, 2023 Music Background: Been playing guitar for many many years.

I've searched for the right Fuzz for the last couple years. Trying several low budget pedals. I've had many people telling me this is the one I needed. They were right. I won't be shopping for a fuzz pedal ever again. And if this one craps out at some point.... I would certainly buy another. This tone is incredible and this pedal is very versatile.

The Best Ultra-Affordable Pedal I’ve Played

By Jonathan Calhoun from Oak Hill, WV on May 31, 2023 Music Background: Recording Artist

I've tried several of the affordable Behringer pedals, and this one is the best one I've used. Each of the three modes is full of usable tones, including the boost mode, which would be worth $29 by itself. It is a little noisy, but not excessively so. Also, it is made of plastic, but that is the trade-off for this price point. If you're looking for a fuzz and you don't have a specific pedal in mind, give this a try before spending a lot of extra money.

Need Two

By Benjamin Ashton from MILLBROOK, AL on May 5, 2023 Music Background: garage muso for 30 years

I've had mine for about 18 months, and it is an amazing sounding pedal, regardless of price. However, it has stopped working, so i figured i'll buy two next week and use this one to tinker around and see if i can figure out what broke.

Fuzz Yeah!

By ALEX B. from East Liverpool, OH on April 19, 2023

Most certainly recommend this pedal to anybody looking for an inexpensive fuzz! This'll stay on my board indefinitely. I love the tonal variety and simplicity of the control layout.

Need 2 :(

By Cody from NorCal on January 27, 2023

So you're gonna buy this pedal for the fuzz. The fuzz setting will turn your guitar into a shrieking, snarling, acid-spitting noise dragon. You'll love it (or if you're a square, you'll hate it).

BUT HERE'S THE WORST PART: Sooner or later, you'll try the clean boost setting. And you'll realize the boost is GREAT. Does exactly what it's supposed to do, pairs with all manner of dirt or just pushes your amp into natural breakup. Quiet, responsive, dynamic, absolute tone magic.

And because it's too darn fiddly to mess with all the knobs every time you want to switch between fuzz and boost...you're gonna have to buy a second Hyperfuzz pedal.

May as well just get 2 right off the bat. For that price, why not...

Actually, this might be genius marketing. Dang.

Outstanding Pedal

The Overdrive is the key here IMO

By Mike Mikulski from MANTUA, OH on December 9, 2022 Music Background: Full timer/working Musician

The fuzz,,, I suppose it's ok. But the "Boost", it adds life to my tone (DLS-401). I am literally just leaving the "boost" on, with the boost knob turned all the way down. It adds just a little punch, and seems to clarify the mids. IMO, it adds that perfect punch many get from the high dollar Compressor pedals and rack mounts.
I saw a few next level players using it like I am, it's what gave me the idea. Glad I took the gamble.
I'm not one to jump up and down on my pedals, so the plastic case doesn't bother me in the least. Plus, this one is just on (boost) at all times, clean, Crunch, distortion and metal distortion (I only use these 4 sounds).
I've only done 2 live shows with it (Just a local working cover band), but in the 3-ish weeks I've had it, I'm feeling I will be keeping in on my board.
I gave it a full 5 stars because of the value for the "boost" alone. I've not needed a "Fuzz" since the early 1980s, so I can't comment on that part of the pedal. But if you feel your tone lacks a little something (NOT saying if your tone sucks this will fix it), THIS could be your ticket!

Blown away

By Jeff from Fl on December 8, 2022

Got this on a black Friday deal, just figured I'd use it here and there.. I've been playing for 35 or 40 years and this thing blew me away. I could never find a fuzz I got along with and I actually put this on my board and love it. All 3 modes are unique and sound great. Works well into a OCD pedal on hp mode. Great customer service from the sweetwater also

Great Fuzz. Even better price.

By Alberto Munoz from ONTARIO, CA on November 30, 2022

2 great fuzz options and a boost (which I dont really use) . Without getting all technical you get 1) super compressed fuzz and 2) has a bit more head room. It is identical Boss Hyper Fuzz FZ-2

Great value, great sound.

By Randy Willis from BOSSIER CITY, LA on November 17, 2022

The Behringer Super Fuzz may not be a big name, expensive pedal (and it's not) but it packs a fantastic, classic hard rock punch! It reminds me much of the sound I got from the old FuzzWah pedal I had back in the early to mid 70s. Using my Player Telecaster I'm very close to dead-on the sound I want between adjustments on my Fender amp and the pedal itself. Great muddy, heavy sound while maintaining clarity. Great value for this affordable yet prolific pedal. Whether you're budget minded or not, I highly recommend the SF300.

My favourite fuzz of all time.

By BEABBB on April 11, 2022

As a huge fan of Electric Wizard, the FZ-2 was the main pedal I've always wanted. The actual Boss models are very expensive due to popularity. To get this pedal at such an affordable price is a no brainer. Mode 2 is where it really shines. It is a very aggressive octave fuzz that is instant Dopethrone when engaged. Can do the classic Superfuzz sounds ala The Stooges and The Cramps as well. Outstanding offering at a stupid low price.

Great Little Fuzz box

Crazy affordable clone of the Boss FZ-2 Hyper Fuzz

By Cee-Jay from Richmond, VA on March 23, 2022 Music Background: Long time noodler, amateur recording artist, electronics hobbyist

According to Josh Scott from JHS pedals, The SF300 pedal is a "perfect" clone of the Boss FZ-2, which in turn is based on the Univox Super Fuzz with some mods. If a snobby boutique pedal building says these two pedals are the same, then the probably are. If you like that classic fuzz sound with the high octave up, you'll love the sound of this pedal. That said, fuzz isn't for everybody and this kind of vintage fuzz circuit in particular can be a polarizing type of sound, so your results may vary of course.

Yes, it's a plastic enclosure and the input jacks and other hardware are more fragile than what you'd get with Boss. But it's $ people! If you are hard on your gear and you need touring reliability then it might make sense to go Boss. Otherwise, this is the way to go in my opinion. And really, even if you are gigging with this thing... you could buy several back ups and still be spending less than Boss. And if it walks away with somebody else after the show, it's just not as a big of a deal. I do know of guys that have toured witch Behringer pedals and had zero problems.

I just use in the home studio. I use it every now and then, and at this price and performance it's a no brainer. Good luck and have fun!

Just get it.

By Sergey Engel from Please select one... on February 23, 2022 Music Background: 35+ years on guitar and bass, available for sessions.

This is one of the best deals on pedals. Of course it's a copy of BOSS FZ-2 Hyperfuzz but while the big Boss haven't relaesed Waza reissue of it the only sane option to get a hold of the legendary circuit is this, and for the money you just owe yourself checking one out in person. It never cleans up like Face or Bender, even on the minimum gain settings it's super fuzzy and not good for fast things on the lower strings. It has two main sounds accessible via the small switch (who needs a booster anyway) and both are highly digestible. Works equally fine with guitar or bass, just spin the EQ knobs to accomodate either. Great, unique sound and I have no problem with the plastic enclosure. It's sturdy enough and weighs less. In short, recommended.

Essential Fuzz

By Tim H from Alum Creek WV on February 2, 2022 Music Background: Blues Desciple

Watched a respected pedal guru telling people to snag these up on YouTube and took a chance. Behringer is now on my radar in a big way. The whole plastic thing is enough to give most people pause, but once you hold it and check out all the tight controls, you will realize they are made from really STRONG plastic and actually have a cool vibe because of it (These pedals are in no way reminscant of the old Sound Tanks) Quiet operation and very rich, tasteful fuzz options. Not only a stand alone fuzz machine, I have it in front of a germanium fuzz that I have set for a ballsy woman tone
and then kick on the super fuzz as a treble boost to add sizzle and more gain.
Thank you Behringer for hooking this poor boy up with a killer pedal! I want to collect them all now!!

I've always been a fan of the boss hyper-fuzz. This is a bang on copy for $.

The build quality isn't great but it sounds fantastic. Even the boost setting is very usable.

The fuzz isn't for everyone but it is unique. For the price you can't go wrong.

Fuzz is a brand new thing for me and I love its sound.

It has 2 different fuzz modes plus a boost.

You might want two of these

By Jesse Schafer from WA on January 9, 2022 Music Background: Musician/Music teacher

I'm here to sell this as a boost pedal.

You can either boost or cut your treble and bass BEFORE adding gain to the signal wakes this one powerful pedal. For this reason you can also use it to cut frequencies. Want get spanky surf sounds from your LP? Cut those bass frequencies and leave the gain near zero. You've got a strangle switch. Want a treble boost? Treble at 2-4, Leave the gain at zero. Want something a little more like an LPB? Boost the bass a little but rotate that gain knob a hair. Want to push your amp? Just crank that gain. Stays very very clean. this is a boost pedal with an extremely usable EQ. Colors the sound a bit but in a good way. I like putting bass and treble at about 2-3 o'clock, it's a wicked solo boost. I've only used it before my other gain pedals, but it seems happy there.

Oh yeah, it's also a wicked, super duper chewy fuzz. Don't expect chords to sound great through it, but power chords, bass, riffs and lead playing are great. 3rds and 7th sound hilarious (in a good way). Almost "ring modulator"-like in it's dissonance. It definitely lacks subtlety, but I would consider that a strength in a fuzz pedal. In this mode you may want that 2nd pedal, somewhere after your OD pedal.

Go easy on the knobs though! Easy to overdo it with this pedal.

when you get into one of these groups there's only a couple ways you can get out...

Everyone can afford one. Everyone should own one.

By Kevin Birge from Missouri on November 19, 2021 Music Background: Releasing on ridiculous tiny labels. But even that is a privilege.

Wouldn't you know it! A week after I paid a ridiculous low bucks, Sweetwater lowers the price even further. So. This is the clone of the Boss Hyper Fuzz. Josh at JHS calls it "dead on", and he would know. He owns them both and can compare the guts. It's a Behringer, which means it's plastic, the Boss blows it away in build quality. But at this price, you can buy three or four if you plan on gigging them and stomping on them. As for the sound, it's a nasty octave fuzz, nothing subtle about it. You get the Univox Super Fuzz circuit, a mid-scooped version of the same, and a boost. All three selections sound really good. I've owned some high dollar fuzz pedals with the ultra-scarce unobtainium transistors in em'. And you know what? Those high dollar pedals sounded better. But not several hundred dollars better, and not so much better that anyone would know in the context of a mix. I sold the high dollar pedals, I'm not made of money and there's only so much money I want tied up in something as ultimately limited as a fuzz pedal. This bad boy is plastic, but it offers so much for the price that I am honestly going to say that if you are after this sound there just isn't a pedal that can compete with it. If you are after that heavy psych/doom metal sound, this bad boy will take care of you.

A surprise but a welcome one to be sure

By A on October 30, 2021

It's not great at chugs but it is exceptional regardless. It can do as advertised but also doom metal.

Here's where it's surprisely awesome:
1. You can stack it with other Behringer pedals, dial it in right & you can have a little bit of Fuzz on a lot of stuff.

2. It can do more than Fuzz or boost In fact I would say it has a secret mode no one on YouTube knows about yet & I don't mean putting it between settings.

I would say more but I don't want to spoil the surprise. I don't give an ounce of bat guano what genre you play, you got to have this pedal in your arsenal.

I didn't want to drop a lot of money on a fuzz and always thought they were the worst of the overdrive/ distortion family but this completely changed my mind and this pedal is a keeper on my board. Tons of fun and the two different setting are helpful because different guitars sound better on one than the other. Also very fun with bass

By JB from CHINO HILLS, CA on October 18, 2021 Music Background: Hobbyist

New to the fuzz world, I decided to give this pedal a shot due to the various rave reviews about it. Running through a telecaster and Vox amp the pedal sounds great! I love exploring this side of fuzz distortion and its opportunities. I find that pairing this with a delay and reverb gives you a great expansive and aggressive sound. Highly recommend. I honestly don't know if I would explore other fuzzes at higher price points since I'm so satisfied with this one.

A real gem

By JD from California on October 16, 2021

This is my first Behringer pedal and to be honest I was skeptical because of the price and plastic enclosure, but now I can definitely say that this pedal in particular is seriously impressive. The sound is incredible, and has pretty much zero noise, it's quite amazing really how quiet it is. The enclosure is perfectly fine for playing in the bedroom/studio, and the knobs are a bit stiff to turn which I actually like. Overall I'd give it a 10/10 you seriously can't go wrong with this, and for 25 bones it's a steal.

My only regret is not buying two!

Awesome pedal. I use this for bass and its the best sounding fuzz I've ever had. Buffer is good too. Case may not be most durable (plastic) but worth every penny of $... Tonewise this can easily put to shame $100+ units. Great job!

Absolutely unbelievable!

By Dave from TX on August 15, 2021

I'd been looking for a Boss Hyper Fuzz FZ-2, I love it's tone, but sadly I couldn't find one for less than $300. So after seeing few reviews for this pedal saying it's a clone of the FZ-2, I figured for $... I might as well try this thing.
Oh. my. God.
I am absolutely blown away. The sound coming from this pedal will rip your head off. I am seriously stunned. Yes, the casing is extremely cheap. It's plastic so I don't know how long it'll last if you're gigging. But for $... if you're recording or a bedroom guitar player, this cannot be beat.
BUY THIS.

I hesitated because I own 2 fuzzes, but ultimately decided the cost wasn't a big deal

Outstanding! Gnarly fun fuzz just in time to defend against the zombie apocalypse! Going to baby that plastic case... Thanks Behringer and thanks Sweetwater!

Sounds Amazing!

By WILLIAM Charles MARINO from New Jersey on August 10, 2021

Just received this pedal last week, really is the best sounding fuzz for the price anywhere. From early 60s fuzz to doomy stoner metal. I have a pedal board with some really good overdrives and distortions but none can get the simply amazing fuzz sounds that this can. Highly recommend this pedal!

Secret Pedal Hack

By Shannon from Ga on July 17, 2021

A Hyperfuzz clone that I've been enjoying for a while now. Totally worth it. Just get it. I'm ashamed of you for not doing so already.
So many different sounds are available with this pedal, but one that many don't know about is that you can set the switch to position 2, strike a chord, then slowly and gently push the switch up to discover a new tone. One in which selector position 1 and 2 are playing at the same time. It's actually what I leave mine on as it's my favorite sound. Same works for the booster position and selector switch 2, but it doesn't sound as good to me. Have fun with it.

My favorite fuzz pedal

By Ian from Maryland on June 15, 2021 Music Background: Shoegaze, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal

I own 4 other fuzz pedals, all of which sound amazing in their own right, but the sounds i have gotten out of this are absolutely incredible
and for maybe 1/10th the price of some of my other fuzz boxes(i have 2 boutique ones that I love)
the ONLY thing about this that isn't absolutely fantastic is the fact it has a cheap enclosure, but for the price you really can't complain
I'm actually planning on gutting mine and putting it into a more sturdy metal enclosure just so I can make sure it'll last me and I don't break it after constant gigging

and unlike most of my other fuzzes, it has 3 different voicings, my personal favorite is the first one, but the other 2 can also be used incredibly effectively as well

If you've never tried one before and you're interested in trying out fuzz pedals this is the perfect option, and even if you're well versed in fuzz pedals this still deserves a place on your board

Fuzzy Wizard Tone Box

By Terry Richards II from Earth on June 7, 2021 Music Background: Professional

The direct comparisons to the Boss FZ-2 are spot on! That Electric Wizard tone is easily achievable with this.

This pedal is an absolute blast to play with for guitar and on bass.

Don't let the plastic case scare you. I dropped one of these pedals on to concrete while fumbling to get it out of the box, watched it bounce twice......and found that it was still in perfect working order with only a tiny scuff on the corner.

cheapest super fuzz ever

By Jon Wilson from Albany, GA on April 26, 2021 Music Background: soundclouder

It is hard to believe you can get a super fuzz pedal this cheap! It is cheaply built, so be gentle, but the sounds it makes are just like the Boss FZ-2. Order one and wait. It is worth it.

The SF300 is a dynamo!

By EddieSpaghetti from High Desert on April 23, 2021 Music Background: Enthusiast

Just got the Super Fuzz delivered today. I immediately set it up on my pedalboard and can't stop smiling. This thing is a ton of fun for the $. I would still give it 5 stars if it was $100, it's not good for a cheap fuzz, it's just good for any fuzz! I waited months while on back order, it's worth every minute of anticipation. My advise is to order one and wait. It's THAT good! Fuzz 1 is my favorite so far, it's mid focused and more pokey that a proctologist with the shakes. The octave you get on the neck pickup and above the 12th fret is gorgeous. Fuzz 2 is mid scooped and sounds fine, I don't anticipate using it as much because I already have a Big Muff on my board that does that thing. Anyhoo, do yourself a favor and order one. If you don't like it, you can sell it on the black market for three times what it cost you, ha, ha.

Believe the hype

By Sweetwater Customer on April 22, 2021

Both Fuzz settings are awesome, as is the "1.5" setting. The boost is good, but I'm not going to use that anyway. It's the best-sounding fuzz I've heard in a long time.

Awesome!

By andres Parrales from Alabama on March 29, 2021

It's sp cool, sounds so cool I think it's AWESOME!

So Good

By Mike on March 4, 2021

This pedal is gnarly and heavy as hell. Be aware that this is sort of an octave up fuzz, so playing power chords is fine but anymore and it gets pretty muddy, otherwise it loves everything else. Also, it says there are 2 fuzz modes and a boost when there is actually a SECRET mode. Slowly move the button from fuzz 1 towards fuzz 2 until you hear them blend then leave it. Welcome to fuzz 1.5.

Just Buy It!

By J Williams from New Jersey on February 11, 2021 Music Background: Mediocre guitarist of 5 years

Just buy it! I bought it to play heavy down-tuned Doom, but I've found that it sounds great for everything I've used it for. it sounds indistinguishable from a real Boss FZ-2. As is the common complaint, the case does feel flimsy. But for as much as I've heard people complain about the durability, I've never heard of anyone who broke one... I wouldn't personally stomp it too hard, but I don't see it wearing out any time soon. AND FOR...?? It's a steal! I have 3 more Behringer pedals on pre-order because of this.

Well worth it for the fun alone

By Sweetwater Customer from NJ on February 9, 2021

Okay, first for the negatives. Yup, it's plasticky, and won't last forever. The problem isn't so much the housing or even the pedal. Rather, the weak points are the knobs and particularly the slider switch. I know from experience with other stompboxes (not Behringer, but other brands with costlier products, by the way), that these are the components that break. If you play bars every weekend (or, under the pandemic cirumstances, used to play bars and may in the future) and throw your stuff in the car at closing time, or absolutely rely on your fuzz pedal, this probably isn't the one for you. It could work as a backup in these cases, though. If you play at home or occasional events, it would be fine.
Now, the positives. This unit has not one but 2 fuzz modes--one a nasty garageband fuzz, the other more of late 60s thing--and both sound great IMO. The latter mode has some interesting overtones, and with modulation after it sounds particularly psychedelic. There's also a clean boost mode. With these features a full set of controls, this unit can be quite versatile within its niche, enabling a good deal of sonic fun.
BTW, I really like how Sweetwater has a person call in follow up to an order, even for a small order like this. It's very astute from a business standpoint alone.

Great fuzz with an underappreciated boost

By Sweetwater Customer on January 25, 2021

This fuzz pedal is great, but after this thing has gotten so popular you probably already knew how good the fuzz tones from it were. if not, then just know the two fuzz sounds are great, one's more of a vintage Hendrix-y fuzz and the other a more modern Jack White fuzz tone, both very good.

However, I think many people sleep on the boost function of the pedal, with the volume set to max and gain at zero, this pedal becomes a great boost pedal in it's own right! Genuine ly don't feel like I need my TC electronic Spark boost pedal anymore because of this setting, which isn't something I was expecting from this at all. So ok top of the great fuzz sounds, you get a great boost as well. I love running the boost into my EHX OD Glove, just gets absolutely maasive distortion tones out of it.

I couldn't recommend this pedal enough, for the amount of good sounds you're getting... That being said, I would have gladly paid $50 for this had I known how food it'd be.

Big Fuzz plus Giant Boost

By Sweetwater Customer on December 25, 2020

The basic idea of this pedal is to have great general-purpose fuzz, and then house it in the same pedal as a powerful boost with a two-band active EQ.

When you play this in front of a dirty amp, the combination of the zappiness of the fuzz with the gain from the boost gives you an awesome, enormous, nasty sound.

My recommendation: always use it with an overdriven amp, set the Gain knob to taste, and use the Level knob like it's the Gain knob on your amp--which is to say, turn it up. The Level knob controls the boost component of this pedal, which will make your amp clip much harder; the Gain knob is basically the Fuzz knob on a Fuzz Face, and will add the great fuzzy character to the distortion of your amp.

Mode 1: excellent fuzz, with a touch of octave to it. Just as good at power chords as it is lead tones.
Mode 2: full-on octave fuzz. Think "Purple Haze" solo.
Mode 3: no fuzz, just boost.

Super Fuzz

By Chris from New Jersey on December 14, 2020

A better sounding fuzz pedal can't be found at this price. Most people know it's a spot on clone of the now coveted (and pricey) Boss FZ-2. Does great doom metal, but also is flexible enough to do some tamed fuzz tones. A great fuzz that plays nice with other pedals. I know the housing is plastic, but as long as you don't abuse it, it'll last long. Great pedal! And I can't say enough good things about Sweetwater. Customer service that goes above and beyond.

VERY cool fuzz sound! Try the secret 4th setting!

By Jed Bickle from Augusta, GA on September 1, 2020 Music Background: 20 years of playing guitar

Right off the bat, if you are looking for smooth, subtle, vintage-y fuzz for a Hendrix kind of sound... this ain't it. HOWEVER, if you want to make some of the most massive, gnarly, rude sounds you've ever heard, step right up cause this pedal is the real deal.

I've heard this pedal is based on the Boss "hyper fuzz" which is itself a copy of the Univox "super fuzz" from the 60's. I have no personal experience with either of these pedals, but if the sound of this pedal is any indication, that Univox was well ahead of its time.

You get immense, beautifully nasty sounds out of this pedal effortlessly. It evokes the same "stank-face" response in me as a good filthy synth bass sound. It's almost like an instrument unto itself with all the crazy ways you can get it to feed back or get harmonic overtones to ring out. Put this before a wah and the best analogy I have come up with is "the dying screams of an eldritch automaton," or maybe "the wailing of Yeats's 'rough beast' as it is born." That is 100% worth the... bucks.

This thing has 3 "official settings" and one secret one (my favorite). Fuzz 1 is an in-your-face mid-range heavy fuzz. Fuzz 2 is the exact opposite, with a massive scooped-mid sound. The "boost" is actually really good! TONS of extra volume/gain on tap for driving your amp or OD pedals.

BUT THERE IS ANOTHER. If you can fiddle with the switch juuuust right, you can get "fuzz 1.5," the Forbidden Fuzz. The sound you are rewarded with is worth the dark, arcane meddling you committed to achieve it. You get a hilariously heavy combination of both fuzzes, with a lot of touch sensitivity and (i think?) a greater propensity for giving that upper octave feedback. This is a unique "feature" of this pedal, as one major difference is the Boss pedal used a knob rather than a switch, rendering these in-between settings impossible. The cowards.

This pedal is stupid good, and a lot of fun for any price. Just buy it. It is WAY more satisfying than the 4 or 5 iced coffees you could get for the money.

I just cant believe this pedal costs...

By Cristian on July 25, 2020

Ok, so im not gonna say that this is a great "value", this pedal is a great fuzz pedal. Sure the construction is plastic and it probably wont stand a world tour (who does that anymore anyways), but if you are a home player or gig with your friends this pedal will become one of your pedalboard stars.
Im deep into fuzz and I have, rather collect, a lot of them. I will spend 400 for a pedal or more if it's the tone I like, and I have. But this Behringer just blew me away, the TONE IS MASSIVE, its all there. I just cant believe they sell this for... its unreal. I waited 3 months to get this and Ill wait 3 months to get another one if I need a replacement.
I would GLADY pay 100-150 for this same pedal. it is THAT GOOD, DONT WAIT ANY LONGER, GET IT

3 great pedals for the price of like, 30% of a decent one?

By James Leitch from PARKVILLE, MD on July 24, 2020

If you're like me, you're here because you saw a famous Guitar YouTube person demo it and thought "hey, I have $..."

The mode knob from the FZ-2 is replaced by a switch giving you 3 modes:
- Fuzz 1 is a vintage Univox Super Fuzz tone
- Fuzz 2 is kind of a 70s Big Muff (super saturated, scooped, etc)
- Boost is a great clean boost

All the sounds are great. Day I got it, I plugged it in and spent 2 hours playing Siamese Dream riffs. In a lesson, I effortlessly conjured up a vintage fuzz tone. I was particularly impressed with the clean boost, which really gave my semi-hollow jazz 7 string some brightness. Famous Pedal Guy was right, get yours today.

Amazing fuzz for a great price

By Josh C from Olympia on May 6, 2020 Music Background: Studio, Live

I have no experience with the univox superfuzz, but this thing totally nails the fz-2 tones. A friend of mine owns that famed silver box, and the behringer is almost indistinguishable. The build quality is of course a little lacking, but I knew that going in. I only plan to use it in the studio so I'm not too worried about it breaking. Even if you've never messed with any of the originals, I recommend to grab this pedal up. The price is unbeatable.

You will be blown away by the many tones you can get out of this pedal! It has a threeway switch and knobs to play with. You can even use it as a boost. I got octave up sounds on my SS amp! Drive and distortions can work better or worse in a tube or Solid State amp! For instance Boss distortions like tubes. The Rat works quite well through SS amps.

got mine after months on the waiting list. i ordered it because of the hype and because it's cheap. i run it into a mid-boost and it is staggering -- nails that electric wizard tone. it's cheaply built, but i don't care as i have my pedals on a music stand and don't stomp on them. i have tried a dozen fuzzes, from the muff to the fuzz face to a few of the high end boutique pedals. the only ones i kept are this and the dod carcosa (another 'budget' pedal that blows the others away). i'm into pretty much anything derived from the early black sabbath records, and i can't imagine being disappointed if you're on the same page. i roll my eyes when reviewer slobber about how great sweetwater service is, but i have to say that james was fantastic -- way more helpful than he needed to be.

Unbeatable Fuzz Bargain- Very Nearly Identical to Univox Superfuzz

By Sweetwater Customer on October 29, 2019 Music Background: professional with 45+ years experience

I've owned a real vintage Univox Superfuzz (gave it away years ago- okay, I know, how incredibly stupid...) and have an early handmade Black Cat Superfuzz clone with an added tone modification pot to precisely dial in the octave thing. (One thing about the original- REALLY noisy background hiss, perhaps that was part of the charm and why I somehow rationalized giving it away to some dumb *** girl...). In any case, this pedal gets about 95% close to the original/Black Cat at nearly a free price... You simply can't do better than this at the price point, don't even try, look no further at other clones.. The only thing it seems to lack is a little barely teeny tiny bit of minimum gain at the start of fuzz setting as opposed to the Black Cat which lets you dial in a smidgen less gain to let the natural tone of the guitar through. Will you miss that? Most people, very doubtful, likely not. On top of this, it's a boost pedal PLUS you get bass/treble tone knobs on top of the mid scoop (Fuzz 1, Fuzz 2) selector like the original. The original has no tone controls. Considering most clones go for WAY more, this is a ridiculous bargain. Of note, the octave thing is PERFECTLY dialed in, and you get the modest-medium octave doubling in the higher frets especially on the neck a pickup with no trouble at all. I think the case is just fine, unless you plan on throwing it out of the window of your car on the highway. The battery compartment, like all Behringer pedals is a little less than convenient, but once you get the hang of it, not a deal breaker. If you want the unique Univox Superfuzz, but don't want to pay huge bucks for a clone- this is it.

Behringer SF300 Super Fuzz

This was my first Behringer pedal.I love fuzz pedals and wanted to give this one a try also. I love it! I love the two fuzz modes and I especially love the boost mode. I don't have a boost pedal, so this one will do the trick. It was a very welcome surprise. I plan to order more Behringer pedals from Sweetwater and the Digital Reverb is next on my list. I can't believe it offers all the different reverbs that it does. I can't find another pedal that does what this pedal does. Of course, the price is right. Thank you to Behringer and to Sweetwater!

Great sound, weak enclosure

By Sweetwater Customer on November 21, 2017

I’ve been looking for a Univox Super Fuzz clone for a while to do Josh Homme/Jack White/Fu Manchu tones. This thing rips, the octave up is awesome above the 12th fret, and power chords are thick and sludgy, sometimes creating octave down. It’s a cheap plastic enclosure, I’m almost certain I will break it sooner or later, but for the money I can’t complain. Buy it! Do it!

Best $ I've spent in a while

By Ron from USA on May 31, 2017

I play a telecaster through a Fender 4x10 blues deville amp- this is pretty much a recipe for the cleanest tone imaginable. When I step on this pedal, it's instant electric wizard fuzz tone. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would.

I will be buying from sweet water again- not only was this awesome pedal, it arrived in 2 days with some extras.

I hate fuzz pedals but I love this one and for $ u can't beat it. It has 3 options a germanium and silicon type fuzz and it has just a plain boost option also. It has a heavy and a light fuzz. The light fuzz has some clearness and definition to it more like a distortion pedal. I play a lot of blues and I suggest buying it

The boost function is incredible!!

By David Wilkes on September 6, 2022 Music Background: I play classic rock and metal

I bought this pedal primarily for the boost capabilities as I am not a huge fuzz fan. I read quite a few reviews on the pedal and even those who didn't care for the fuzz tones liked or loved the boost function. For the price of the pedal, it was worth the risk of not liking it. However, the boost is as good as the reviews say it is, or even better. I tried it at the beginning of the chain and at the end and it excelled in both places. I ended up leaving it at the end as that was my purpose for buying it and it's a beautiful thing. It sounds exactly how I was hoping it would sound.

If this was a $100 pedal, it would still be worth the price as it sounds really good. I recommend this if you're curious about getting into Fuzz and not sure if the sound is for you. When you try this, you're gonna want to keep it. Just be mindful of the plastic housing.

There is kinda a "seceret" fuzz in between 1 & 2 and the boost setting is great to make your tone bass heavy with the sweetness of high end treble.

I previously only had one dedicated Fuzz pedal in my collection, a BBE Free Fuzz, which is a honking, nasty, rich but overboard fuzz. When I saw this pedal was on sale, I thought I'd take a chance and it's really quite amazing for the money. I like it straight into the amp or as a boost into an already distorted amp. I was really surprised at its versatility. Shout out out to my engineer Adam Cesarz who is always interested in what I'm working on and what gear can help me get there.

it's not about the fuzz

By steve rhinefrank from yakima, WA on January 17, 2022 Music Background: hack

this one was cheap enough to take a flyer on doubling up fuzz pedals. turns out i deeply dislike both the fuzz settings on this one. cannot get any usable sounds with any amp/pedal/guitar combo. zero. HOWEVER, the 'boost' is phenominal. plays nicely with every pedal/amp/guitar. most amazing is how it just barely sweetens the awesome Green Russian Big Muff Pi into something even more deliciously fuzzy. it is an absolute fixture on the pedal board.
the other sneaky bit is finding that 'in between' spot between the boost and fuzz1. sometimes that is also really cool.

Believe the Hype

By Dave on October 19, 2021

I'm no expert on Fuzz, but this pedal is ridiculous at this price point. Fun and usable sounds. Supposedly it's a spot-on clone of the Boss FZ-2 Hyper Fuzz. Never played the FZ-2, so I really can't say, but I can say it's a lot of fun in its own right.

Fuzz 1 mode supposedly mimics the classic Super Fuzz, but it's really not the old-school sound I would have expected from that description. It's still good, and very usable. Fuzz 2 sounds more modern, aggressive and mid-scooped (think early-90s grunge). The Boost mode is an odd (but usable) feature, just beware that it's a HUGE volume boost, and not something you'd most likely want to switch into at the same levels you have set for your Fuzz.

If you've seen online demos, you may already know there's also "Fuzz 1.5" mode which runs both Fuzz 1 and Fuzz 2 in parallel when you force the switch to the unintended position between the two Fuzz modes. (It's always kinda cool when a piece of gear can be misused to create unintended sounds, right?)

One thing it won't do very well is the gated/"busted-sputter" sound of a lot of modern Fuzzes, but there are still several distinct Fuzz tones here to play around with.

Yes, it's plastic and has weird knobs that are way too stiff, but it's sturdy-enough that I plan to use it occasionally on my live board and don't expect any trouble out of it.

Bottom line, it's a lot of fun to play around with. At $, it's an absolute no-brainer for the Fuzz-curious like me.

Aside from being, in the words of JHS' Josh Scott, a "dead-on" clone of the much sought-after Boss Hyper Fuzz, let's set aside the really good fuzz tones for a moment. There's a little mode switch with a spot labeled "boost". HOLY CRAP: This isn't just the best boost you'll find for $... this is one of the better boosts I'm currently using - alongside MojoHandFX, Wampler, Boss, Source Audio, DOD, Keeley - and I plan on using it as much as possible in the future.
It's a plastic housing, yes, thus the half star dock, but if you're using a loop switcher that's irrelevant.

Monstrous

By Paul on April 26, 2019 Music Background: Audio Engineer

I like to play really downtuned, slow doom metal and stoner rock/metal type of stuff like Sleep, Electric Wizard, The Sword, ETC. So if you listen to those bands you get the idea of what I was looking for. I found it here. Obviously the plastic case feels like crap, and the switch feels weak and cheap because it is, but this thing (i use the Fuzz 2 setting the most) can put out some of my favorite tones I've ever gotten. you can get 3+ of these pedals for price of another fuzz pedal, and unless i can find something like this sound in a nicer case, i may do just that. Behringer, please make a new line of actual well-made pedals with the same guts! "Behringer Pro Series Pedals" rings nicely.

Great Pedal

By RMC on January 23, 2016

Normally I don't mess around with pedals at all but I've gotten into the cigar box guitar thing with a 2 and 3 string along with a 1 string Diddly Bow. I added electronics to all of them and thought I'd try a fuzz box just as an experiment.
It provides a fantastic tone in all 3 modes (really howls in Fuzz 2) and is well worth the money. So far it's been bullet-proof and if it ever died I'd buy another without hesitation.

Surprisingly good with Bass

By Donald Bleckman from CRESSKILL, NJ on June 27, 2023 Music Background: Bassist

After seeing over a 100 reviews and reading all the hype on this Super Fuzz pedal by Behringer I wanted in and for $ it's worth the fun. The reviews are spot on, fuzz 1 is a little to harsh that I cant use but fuzz 2 is a warm in your face wall of fuzz you can shape with the gain, treble & bass controls and the boost provides a good clean volume making this pedal worth the $. The Super Fuzz wouldn't be my first choice as a bassist I can live with the hard plastic casing, but without a blend control to dial in my bass tone with the fuzz I couldn't use it as needed. For me its a $ fuzz pedal to punch in once in a while and have FUN with. Your needs maybe different but it does work with bass guitars.

The Boss FZ-2 is no longer available, but if you want to sound like Electric Wizard or Monolord this is the pedal for you. The Super Fuzz convincingly reproduces the thick, dense and bass heavy fuzz of the Boss pedal at a ridiculously low price. While having an alternative fuzz setting and a boost setting, you get this pedal because you want incredibly heavy metal fuzz. Not very flexible, but it does one thing very well

This pedal delivers really hot, blazing fuzz sounds, even if you're layering it on top of a clean signal. The two modes (Fuzz 1, Fuzz 2) make this pedal fairly versatile. However, the tracking is extremely limited; if you play two or more notes at once, it results in a really messy sound -- playing chords is out of the question when this pedal is engaged. Therefore this pedal is most useful for lead/solo parts. If you're looking for a really gnarly, electric sound to enhance a guitar solo, this is the pedal for you.

great

By Sweetwater Customer on December 14, 2022

this is great for the price. i know its a clone, but the only thing that would make it so much better is if the mids were also on an active eq knob, with another knob letting you choose the mid frequency.

Great pedal for the money.

As a newbie to using pedals to be able to start with an inexpensive unit like this one is nothing short of awesome.

Behringer Super Fuzz

By Britton Woodruff from BROOKLYN, NY on June 14, 2022

Great pedal for trying out Fuzz. Be patient with this pedal. It takes a bit of effort to dial in. Plastic construction is good for home use, but probably not great for travel or gigging.

If you purchase this pedal, make sure to purchase a power adapter or a power supply. Batteries die quickly and when on low power, the pedal does not function properly. Also, the batteries are not fun to change, especially if on a pedalboard.

Fuzz

By Britton Woodruff from BROOKLYN, NY on April 30, 2022

Good pedal. The gain knob has a bit of a hockey stick curve when turning it up, but it's manageable. Great pedal to explore fuzz. I would recommend this pedal for playing with the sound. Works for a home board or backup pedal, but maybe not for a primary. For $25 it is well worth it!

Great sound. Great price. Trying not to break it!

By Sweetwater Customer from APEX, NC on May 8, 2021

Great sounding fuzz in my opinion. It has a classic sound in Mode 1 and more modern, aggressive fuzz in mode 2. And then there's mode 1.5. Overall, I love the sounds I can get out of this box so far. It's also great as a boost pedal.

But… I am really trying not to step on this thing! I would love to have seen this made of thicker plastic at this price point. I'd also love to see $50 version with a metal chassis as an option. I'd pay double the price for a sturdier version of this.

If you can get over the thin plastic construction, the SF300 is a great addition to your palette of sounds.

For the price? Yes.

By G from G on March 23, 2020

Really good for the price. Yes , plastic body, but I just use it inside for practice. The 2 fuzz settings go from a more trebley in your face sound to a compressed nirvana sound. No extra noise added on mine, and the controls are responsive. I was able to nab one of these before the price went up. I ordered a dead battery sim on ebay to add more fizz and breakup. Should be cool.

Lotta Fuzz Tone

By Ron W. from Colorado Springs on November 5, 2015

Got this to add to my pedal board and for my studio. Didn't want to spend alot of money. Very happy with the fuzz tones I get with this. Plenty of adjustability and settings to fiddle with. And the boost function is a nice addition. Very satisfied with this pedal and, for the price, can't be beat..

Boost Is Actually Good

By Sweetwater Customer on May 26, 2023

Fuzz. Fun for home play. The setting half way between fuzz 1 and 2 blends both sounds. That's cool. The boost though—it's good.

This Stays On The Board

By Ryan Gunwitch-Black from FL on December 27, 2021 Music Background: Artist/Producer/Guitarslinger

Received one for Christmas and I am blown away. The two fuzz options great and different enough to justify their existence. But the real star of the show for me is the boost. And the plastic enclosure doesn't really bother me because it's going on a board in a hard travel case and I'm not trying to stomp it through the stage when I engage the unit so it should last a good long while. And if I do destroy it, I'll drop another 25 bucks.

Cool for leads

By Alex from CHICAGO, IL on November 19, 2021

really cool for single note leads. chords get a bit garbled - especially seems like it hates minor chords haha. for $20 some cool sounds to get from it and will be useful in situations. Wouldn't be always on for me though

good fuzz and even better boost pedal

By Sweetwater Customer on October 31, 2021

The boost is spot on. The fuzz works well but the volume level is weak and the sound gets worse (even for fuzz) as you turn it up. Not sure what's the deal or I got a "bad" one. The switch can be set between each modes to blend each which is very cool and useful.

Nice with one significant gripe

By Mike from Edmonds, WA on August 27, 2020

I bought this because everyone else was. It's Electric Wizard in a box, plus some other stuff. If you want that barely controlled, explosive, no note-definition fuzz, this thing is hard to beat. It's a clone of the Boss Hyperfuzz, which I've never used so no comment there. The Hyperfuzz is sort of based on the old Univox Superfuzz, which I've also never played, but I do have a Wattson Classic Fuzz that is a clone of the Univox. The fuzz from the Wattson is much more "musical" but not as good at just sounding like Funeralopolis.

Now onto my complaint that I'm subtracting a full star for. At higher gain or volume settings, the pedal picks up an annoying "helicopter" sound that you can hear with your guitar volume rolled all the way back. I can detect it on numerous amps, in headphones, and regardless of power supply. Hovering your hand over the pedal makes it stop, so I think the cheapo plastic housing is just not doing its job shielding it. If you can live with just turning the pedal off when not in use, it's not a problem.

But all in all, you get way more than what you pay for, and I still recommend it with the above caveat.

Neat little pedal

By Stephon from Indiana on March 26, 2016 Music Background: Blues, Blues/rock, Rock

I love the three voicing option you get. The ability to dial the right amount of gain, level, treble and bass. It sounds great. The only reason I didn't rate it higher is the construction is not on par with Boss. Seems a little plasticy but if you are looking for a budget pedal I would recommend it.

Not for me

By Sweetwater Customer on August 2, 2022

If your looking for a suttle fuzz this is not for yoi. If uou want a heavy thick soundimg fuzz then you will like it

ok for the money

By bob T from cumberland, RI on March 20, 2022

fuzz 1 & 2 suck but boost is very good. not bad for $.

Don’t Believe the Doubters..!!

By Dave Steiger from West Dundee, IL. on May 9, 2023 Music Background: Formerly not famous gigger now less famous living room player…

My goodness.

Like many of you, I have a nice collection of fuzz pedals. Having said that, and to encourage those just getting into the fuzz game, the Behringer Super Fuzz literally blew my mind when it first arrived. Honestly, I was looking for the cameras, thought I was being punked!

Do I have my favorites? Yes, of course, feel free to ask. However if you're curious about fuzz pedals, please, don't hold back because of plastic this or cheap price that, some comment about being .001% different, etc., it's a great pedal - you'll love it! Guaranteed.

Finally, you'll love the fuzz in this box (cork sniffers will try to convince you otherwise), that's why you're even thinking about it in the first place, but IMNSHO it's the boost that's the real star of this show. It's great, it does *exactly* what you could ever ask for from a boost.

Just pick pick one up, my goodness, and seriously, what have you got to lose? Mac's for two?

Best,

Dave Steiger…

You get what you pay for.... sometimes.

By Tahoe from Virginia on December 3, 2021 Music Background: Semi-Pro

Cheap/inexpensive pedal. You get what you pay for... sometimes. Regardless of the settings the unit "clips" when playing in low registers. Great pedal for playing trash and grunge. Or for ticking someone off.

Useable

By Samuel from Texas on February 29, 2016

It is a usable pedal but it lacks , some thing didn't feel right to me , the two fuzz modes didn't have a good enough sustain, I tried everything but , it seemed like the pedal was holding back , as if it were more capable. I could only use the boost setting to try and get a good tube amp like, saturated sound , it works great with strats. I think my pedal could have been defective, they are pretty cheap.

Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair?

By Sweetwater Customer on May 11, 2022

I've been getting into the FaceFuzz sound lately and wrestling with it's desire to be the first pedal in the chain. I thought this pedal might be the solution with it's built-in buffer. I was wrong. Just doesn't sound very good. Oh well, live and learn.

All hype

By Goo from Yarmouth port, MA on November 17, 2022

The build quality isn't as horrible as people seem to think, but the sound quality is not as good as people seem to say. The sf300 sounds horrible coming out of my or120.

Not a good sound at all. Disappointing on all levels.

By John D Scagline on March 23, 2020

I decided to try a fuzz pedal and everyone seems to love this one so I gave it a shot. I just do not hear what everyone else does. The two modes are both really lacking in any usable sense and very noisy. One doesn't have too much depth and little bite, the other is so scooped it just sounds like static-y noise. It also does not take boosts AT ALL. It sounds horrifically bad if you add an overdrive or distortion. Really disappointing but for the price it was worth the gamble. I lost on this one. I ran it through a SD Powerstage so maybe the pedal will sound better going through an amp or an effects loop not just a power amp.

Too fuzzy

By Ben on December 8, 2022

I'm not sure if there was something wrong with mine, but the lowest possible tone setting was REALLY fuzzed out. It started at very fuzzy and once you got past the 12 O'clock position it was a mass of noise! No subtle fuzz tone possible. I was going to return it, but once I paid the shipping both ways it wouldn't be worth it. Will probably give it away to some death rocker. I have 3 other Berhinger pedals that are perfectly fine. I'll stick with my Electro-Harmonix "Satisfaction " pedal that works great.

DEFINATELY FUZZ

By ANDREW BORDEN on November 5, 2021 Music Background: Pro Drummer, Semi-Pro Bass player with Kamikaze Choir.

I found this pedal totally unusable. The fuzz was more suited for Guitar. It made the bass very thin sounding. Thats just Fuzz 1.Fuzz 2 sounds more like Space Balls pedal. Again, not for me. The one outstanding quality was the Bass Boost. Really warm and full. I think I got the wrong pedal for me. If this is the sound youre looking for go for it for the price. I need more traditional distortion/Overdrive. So I am buying that pedal. I'll keep posting.

Not the fuzz I’m looking for

By Shawn from Ohio on September 25, 2021

I'm surprised there's so many good reviews on this pedal. For me, both fuzz settings sound really bizarre and I can't dial in something close to what I like. The boost setting is ok and have used that, but I didn't buy this for the boost.

Don’t believe the hype

By Andrew Walz from St. Louis, MO on November 4, 2019

Had the thing for a week with maybe 2 hours playing time on it before it stopped working. A cheap piece of junk. Some good tones to be sure, but nothing that a good octave fuzz can’t pull off better. Save yourself the wait. The hype on these things is bogus. You get exactly what you pay for.
