Yamaha Seqtrak Mobile Music Ideastation - Orange & Gray Reviews

Mobile Music Creation Module with 128-note Polyphony, Advanced Wave Memory 2, 4-operator FM Synthesis Engine, Sampler, Sequencer, FX, Rechargeable Battery, and Bundled Software - Orange & Grey

Yamaha has been at the center of world-class sound for over a century. They’ve pioneered work with pianos and organs before expanding to band and orchestra instruments, synthesizers, and all manners of musical mastery. With the Seqtrak mobile music ideastation, Yamaha’s distilled this finely-honed expertise to craft a flexible, all-in-one module that combines two powerful sound engines with an intuitive interface and streamlined form factor that lets you take a full studio’s worth of beat-crafting anywhere you go. Sound designers at Sweetwater are impressed with the Seqtrak’s adaptable suite of connectivity options, boasting a rechargeable battery for uninhibited, totally-mobile creation alongside USB-C MIDI capabilities, allowing it to seamlessly integrate into any stage, studio, or on-the-go workflow. Moreover, the accompanying Seqtrak app not only grants further control over the instrument’s wealth of onboard FX, sampling, sequencing, and real-time track building, but includes a Visualizer mode to transform your tunes into a distinctive audiovisual array.

Sold my OP-1. No regrets.

By Archibald B. B. from Pennsylvania on April 2, 2024 Music Background: Pocket operaton, op1 and opz, Korg volca.

Love this little groove station. Amazing and versatile. Blows my other SYNTHS straight out the water. Can do almost anything and much more. Mostly used for the state of the art techno and gabber genres but can also be used for all styles of music. Has a small learning curve but videos on YouTube make this a breeze. Has no screen but can be used with an iPod or smart phone. Aesthetic is very nice and can be installed onto a wall or mantle as an art piece. All in all almost definitely worth the money. Yorg has finally stepped into the future along with Roland and other companies. Not a bad purchase. No regrets.

A lot for $

By Jamie from USA on March 8, 2024

Drum machine, sequencer, sampler, synth, big sound library, effects, mini speaker, midi in/out, audio in/out, usb host, 3D app visualizer, and a cool compact design. That's a lot for $.

I recommend buying a ultra mini midi keyboard to plug into it. This will make it even more fun.

Using the interactive app to show how you can access more advanced features was very helpful.

Probably the Most Inspiring Small Synth I have Owned!!

By Cap10NRG Music from Pennsylvania on March 6, 2024 Music Background: Music Producer / YouTube Content Creator

This device is wicked fun - I don't know how much I can say about it from that perspective, other than I just CANNOT seem to put this thing down!! I opened it up and it was immediately useful, super intuitive to use, the built in sounds are excellent, the sound quality is very good. It has a built in battery and speaker so you can take it anywhere. The USB let's you connect SO MANY THINGS like your phone, tablet, Mac or PC. I feel like anyone who gets one of these will almost immediately pick up how to use it. There are a few intricacies, but 98% of learning this device was done ON THE FLY by me. The app is just the frosting on the cake, even without the app you have a very playable, usable synth here loaded with great sounds.

If you are thinking this is great if I were some techno / house / acid making DJ type - then you would be surprised to find out that this device has a pleather of traditional sounds as well and can sound like pretty much whatever genre of music puts the wind in your sails. I'll tell you I do YouTube (as you can see from my video) and if I would just turn the camera on I would have more content than you would ever want to see on this device, because I have literally had it by my side every day since it came home.

It is not 100% perfect, but the few "faults" are EASILY overlooked when you start making music with it and find out how incredible the experience is just using it! You might wonder what these "faults" I speak of are...

Well the buttons are a bit clickey for me... I have seen some folks say they are failing on them.. BUT - I believe it is not that the buttons are failing - but that you need to click them "dead on"... They take practice and accuracy. Also I wish there were more buttons... I like the scale buttons the way they did them but I would have liked more buttons, and to not have the "record button" jammed in the middle of the step sequencer side and teh playable synth keys. And finally I will mention the jacks/ports. They are fine - but I would have preferred 1/4" Left and Right jacks to hook it to my mixer, and the MIDI dongle is kind of annoying - I feel like the could have tot the midi ports built in without a dongle.. BUT other than those things this is a 100% WIN for me!!

Would I buy it again??? ABSOLUTELY!! I might buy another one honestly...

Impressive little box of sound…

By Jay from San Diego on March 28, 2024

Okay, just to get this out of the way, the hardware is really light and cheap feeling, and the keyboard is pretty lousy except for the most rudimentary sequencing (thus the one star ding). But wow, the sounds! You get a massive boxful of Yamaha goodness, and a full range of tweaking available on the Seqtrak app. Hook it up to a decent controller (I've got it connected to a Launchpad Pro at the moment) and it becomes a source of whatever you might need sonically at the moment. It's great having so much at your fingertips in a single unit. And the interface on the unit itself is actually pretty quick and east to use despite the way it looks at first glance. It's fast and efficient- everything is a button push away. The app is very well designed and thought out. For the money this is a keeper.
