PRS SE Singlecut McCarty 594 Standard Electric Guitar - Vintage Cherry Reviews
Making its way into the PRS SE series for the first time, the SE Singlecut McCarty 594 Standard is a no-nonsense 6-string that merges golden-age guitar design with performance-minded modern appointments. This guitar sports a mahogany body and a mahogany neck for a smooth, mellow tone that perfectly complements the natural clarity of the dual 58/15 LT “S” humbucking pickups. In fact, the only non-mahogany timber found on the SE Singlecut McCarty 594 is its rosewood fingerboard, planed into a comfortable 10-inch radius for a versatile feel that’s equally fit for open position chording and singing upper-register bends. Lastly, a robust Pattern Vintage profile fully lives up to its name with a stout shape that’s a must-have for players who prefer the old-school feel of a substantial neck.

Great guitar for the money
I needed a guitar just for open tunings so I thought I would try this guitar. I play a Les Paul Traditional and a USA Ultra Lux Strat. When I got the PRS I really wasn't expecting much. I WAS WRONG! I liked it so much that it's my main guitar now. For a non USA guitar both pickups sound great (actually better than my Les Paul pickups). I would very much recommend this guitar....
Great Guitar !
This guitar was great right out of the box! Sound is great , neck feels awesome, build quality is quite over the top!
Outstanding Guitar at an Unbelievable Price!
I received this guitar a few days ago and I am still happily in the honeymoon phase! The guitar plays beautifully out of the box and is absolutely gorgeous (vintage cherry standard). The neck is soooo comfortable. The pickups sound fantastic. I can't believe the quality and performance you get at this price point.
My only negative is that I do not like the tuning machines. They look fine, but I am going to put on some Kluson locking tuners. This is very subjective so please don't let this stop you from getting this gorgeous sounding and looking instrument.
Beautiful
This is a great playing guitar
Fire Breathing Doom Machine!
I purchased this guitar because I wanted a LP style guitar that i could tune to drop-A with out modifying one of my vintage guitars ('74 Les Paul Deluxe & '77 Ibanez post-lawsuit model) and this plays and sounds so much beter than either of them. The team at Sweetwater did a set up for me with Ernie Ball Mammouth Slinkys in drop-A and it plays amazing! The action and intonation are PERFECT! The build quality is absolutely amazing for the money (and would still be as amazing of it cost a lot more). Aesthetically I love the plain red finish over mahogany (but as they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder). the hardware is excellent (i will miss locking tuners for string changes, but the ones that come stock stay in tune and work great, so I doubt i'll ever change them). The pickups are lower output than some of my guitars, but they sound amazing with a ton of distortion, fuzz, and a dimed tube amp (which is EXACTLY what i was after)! If you're scared about this being anything less than amazing, because it's made overseas... DON'T! It is an awesome guitar!
It’s a great tone machine
I like the finish, it has great sounds, but make sure to roll of the tone a little bit cause it's kinda bright. Some of the frets were rough and the Jack was screwed up,(apparently that never happens normally, guess I just got a lemon) but aside all that a great guitar. I've never had a guitar that has rounded frets out of the box, and it feels great. For the money, it's perfect.
Wonderful, High Quality - Affordable
I oI only had this guitar a few days ago, but I can't stop playing. I've probably played more guitar this weekend than I have in a month. It's inspiring to play a guitar that feels this good to play. I got my guitar PLEKD through the promo, and my frets are so shiny and smooth that it makes it feel like butter. For 850 or so, this guitar is worth every penny.
I watched a lot of videos and did a lot of research before I got this guitar and it looks and sounds better than I thought it did in the videos. I recommend it to anyone who wants that next-level guitar without breaking the bank.
And comfortable to play, the body shape has a bit of a belly cut and a contour.
Shout out to my sales rep Ronny. He always is a step above man big ups to Ronny
Such a great guitar with 1 problem
I have a "Pauls Guitar" SE and LOVE IT!!! (It does have upgraded tuners)
This guitar is also great! But I am not satisfied with the tuners.
I didn't expect perfection and fortunately upgrading to locking tuners is only $120 and an easy install.
So overall I LOVE this guitar and every day I play it I love it more!
It is well worth the price and I would highly recommend any guitar from PRS!
I will say that this guitar was very easy to play out of the box. This is a testament to the PRS QC procedure. These must be the easiest guitars for Sweetwater to inspect. Initially, the neck feels pretty chunky. I like thinner necks, so I was apprehensive at first, then after about an hour of playing, it just felt "right." The thing is beautiful, pickups sound amazing, perfect fretwork and setup. Nut is cut perfectly, tuners hold up well...nothing functionally that I don't like about the guitar.
My only one gripe is aesthetics...the whole thing is red (except the fretboard, obviously). I think I would have preferred a natural or black back on the body and neck, just for some contrast. The thing plays like a premium guitar, but the overall aesthetic give off "Epiphone Les Paul Special 2" vibes, if you know what I mean.
