new favorite guitar
I wanted another guitar that had more than one output, and this filled the bill very nicely. Guitar from Sweetwater was great right out of the box, and I have enjoyed playing this through different amps, pedals, etc...with everything I connect it too, it sounds great!
Wow
I love this guitar.
I love Tony Watson.
My bandmates wanted to try my new PRS.
I told them to keep their hands off of it.
They were a little adamant and it got a little vocal.
But then church started and we had to play.
I gave them Tony Watson's number.
I love this guitar.
All around amazing instrument
This was my first time purchasing a PRS instrument but i couldn't resist after seeing the gorgeous finish on this guitar.
When it arrived i probably spent 5 minutes just strumming one chord over and over again, The tone just blew me away. I am not overly picky with instruments, but i can definitely say that while this is not the most expensive guitar i have played, it is far and away the best. It is truly a joy to play, and shout-out to Ryan at sweetwater for helping me get this beauty!
Bought on a whim wound up with a keeper
First off… Jack Lob at Sweetwater is attentive and very accommodating.
Secondly, this is my 3rd PRS and my first SE (CE22 & Semi-hollow Special 22). The SE HB is comfortable and plays effortlessly. I now realize that I've been missing the hollowbody sound my entire playing career. Anyway, I bought this on a whim because I heard the band Goose. Listen to Hungersite live. That sound is the core version of this guitar. It's so articulate and precise. Blending the piezo with a 2nd amp is a must. It's stunning. The piezo, like all piezos, is a little quacky. I'm running through an acoustic IR loader (NUX Optima Air) with a McPherson, OOO28, and Lowden presets that calm the quack and add authenticity. Long story short: I have 95% of the core sound + boutique acoustic tones for a little over a grand. This is a steal.
Far exceeded my expectations
Been playing guitar, amateur and professionally, for almost 50 years, and have owned many very nice instruments, some USA made, and some imports. This is one of the nicest guitars I've ever owned regardless of country of manufacture. No box goes unchecked with this one. Piezo sounds are just excellent, my Taylor doesn't sound any better. The humbuckers are PAF inspired but maybe a little more "3D", which Paul is maybe known for?
Frets and finish are flawless (I got the "dog hair" finish), no rough frets, no sharp edges, and the neck is on the larger side but so comfortable. Hard shell case isn't junk either.
I'm very glad I purchased this instrument.
Surprisngly beautiful guitar
This is my first PRS and it's an amazing start. Purchased because I'm wanting to incorporate acoustic into looping-based practice. The mag pickups are genuinely sweet and full sounding, excellent from clean, breakup, to full aggressive distortion. The piezo is well-matched to blending. Some descriptions of the previous SE Piezo ii model described the piezo as far hotter then the mags and not finding this to be the case. Experiencing some neck dive, but this can be easily fixed by switching straps, too.
