Endless sustain, remarkable projection and clarity

By Eric from Arizona on July 6, 2023 Music Background: Guitarist since 1975, Pro since 1986. I play finger style and flat pick both.

For the price you can't go wrong with this PRS beauty. I've been playing mine for about a year now, and I love it. It has a balanced an crystal clear tone with rich bass and snappy highs. It plays easy with excellent action, true notes at every fret, and seemingly endless sustain. The binding, rosette and bird fret inlays give it a distinct appearance that looks great whether I'm playing alone in my studio or onstage. Tuners are smooth and accurate, and Fishman pickup is just icing on the cake.

Affordable PRS Quality

By William Underwood from Simpsonville, SC on May 22, 2023

I don't normally purchase an instrument without getting my hands on it first. However, I pulled the trigger on a "Demo" model and I'm so glad I did!!

This thing plays like a dream and sounds just as good as it looks! The ziricote back has beautiful grain pattern (it was the reason I jumped on it). And being a fan of ebony fretboards, it was exactly what I was looking for. The neck is thicker than other guitars, but is comfortable.

I have yet to plug in and hear the pickup/preamp. It sounds so good acoustically. Simply playing with a mic in front of it will render rich, crisp tones when recording or playing live. It doesn't have the same depth in the low end that a Martin will give, but it's very warm. It's pretty balanced sonically much like a Gibson but at a more affordable price point.

From looks to feel to sound this guitar doesn't disappoint. And it comes with a hard case! Bonus! I'm extremely happy with my decision to purchase this guitar.

Stunning visually and audibly

By Dave H from Pennsyl-tucky on May 8, 2023

I'll freely admit that I am a PRS fanboy, but PRS is not widely known for their acoustics. So, I started doing some research as I have a desire to start diving into the acoustic realm from the world of electrics. I looked at Martin, Taylor, Yamaha, Breedlove, etc etc. Poured over reviews, watched video after video, and came to the same conclusion. Dollar for Dollar this is one hell of a guitar compared to its competitors. Its visually stunning to look at, its comfortable to play, the action difference between an electric is not very noticeable. It sounds wonderful, probably would sound better if I could play decently but that's my problem HAHA. It comes with a hard case. I had some concerns since some of the videos I watched complained about the guitar not being setup well, that's why I bought if from Sweetwater. The whole 55 point inspection was my way of guaranteeing that would not be an issue. Packaging wise it came in a box(sweetwater) that was inside a box (prs) that was inside the hard case. I let it acclimatize for 2 days, pulled it out and this guitar resonates BIG TIME.....
For the price you can't go wrong with this guitar, just take some care as where you buy it....

PRS hits it out of the park!

By Joshua Harrell from Warsaw, IN on April 17, 2023

You cannot beat the quality of this instrument at this price point, let alone the visual aesthetics. A well-balanced tone that really opens up and grows the more you dig in and explore what this acoustic can do. Adorned with beautiful abalone trim and bird inlays coupled with the figured curly maple binding along the body, neck, and headstock offers a gorgeous, yet subtle, depth of visual satisfaction. Well set up with great action up and down the neck that fits perfectly in my hand. This acoustic is an import that has, in my humble opinion, served notice to its American made counterparts.

Suprised it was that good

By Bruce Opachinski from Poconos PA on March 3, 2023

I had the PRS SE P20E first and have to say for the extra $ this is a huge difference. Maybe due to size of the guitars but I like the low and mid tones so much better with the 60. I also have a few Martins and a Taylor, and have to say this is about in line with their similar priced models, so you won't be disappointed in the choice for this price.

Very had to match

By Larry Yates from Springville TN on March 3, 2023 Music Background: Active Muscian

I've been playing guitar for over forty years, played many gigs. My Sweetwater music tech hooked me up with PRS SE A60 almost two years ago, let just say my Martin hasn't seen the light of day I'm a long time. Thank you, Michael.

Awesome Guitar

It's got a great sound, nice tone, great feel/responsive, nice heavier neck, and looks out of this world good.

Gray residue on strings

By Sweetwater Customer on August 9, 2022

Maybe it's been a while since you played or changed strings. Your right that strings didn't use to have that graphite on them.

It's just a side effect from the way they manufacture strings today. I have that issue every time I change strings with Ernie balls, d'addario's …seems likethey all do it now.

Grey residue from playing guitar left on fingers!!!

By Peter Fabiani from San Francisco, CA on April 19, 2022

I love the guitar but had to replace the strings and clean and oil the fret board due to gray material left on fingers when I played it. The tech that inspected the guitar did not report or correct that issue.

Lots of value got the price

By RA on April 16, 2024

I have had this guitar about three weeks now. It came well packaged and right out of the box it played very well. I like everything about this guitar for the most part. I love the way it looks and I like the way it sounds acoustically. The only thing I can say is is that the electronics are not the best. Sounds good milked up however, the onboard electronics will do in a pinch. Other than that it plays fantastically well, and I think it's a good value for the money.

Great Guitar After Setup

By Kelly K on October 19, 2023 Music Background: Singer / Songwriter

Pros: Amazing tone woods, inlays and overall finish
Cons: Boomy voicing and thick neck

Took me a while to write this review as I was initially unsure about liking this instrument. I bought this guitar to leave at my NorCal office, and do some open mic gigs, so it wouldn't be played everyday. Bought it off of the online reviews and PRS's exceptional history of quality and playability. Guitar of of the box looked great and played well. Quality of materials and assembly was first rate, and the instrument is really beautiful, especially the book matched zirocote back and abalone inlay. I just couldn't get used to the neck as it was a bit thicker than my Taylor 816ce, and the voicing seemed quite "boomy", with huge bass response. I imaging this is due to the full size body and the rigid back projecting all sound forward through the spruce top. Finally took it to my luthier, installed a set of Elixir phosphor bronze strings and dropped the action to 75/68. It now plays and sounds like a different guitar.

This guitar is bright and loud, yet maintains the subtle nuances of the zirocote tone wood. Played fingerstyle, there is excellent articulation and warmth. The Fishman preamp and pickup is clean and well balanced. This guitar sounds and plays like a much more expensive instrument. Feel much better gigging with this than banging up a $ Taylor. The neck is a bit thinker than I am used to, and I am not a fan of the high-gloss finish on the neck, but for $ this was a deal.

If you buy this guitar I highly suggest lowering the action and using a phosphor bronze string like the Elixer's. It made all the difference in the world.

Close, but not perfect.

By Sweetwater Customer on May 5, 2023

Sounds trivial, but the factory QC could have been better. The truss rod cover is secured by a single screw, and on my guitar, the screw hole on the cover had burrs left behind from the drilling process. The burrs kept the cover from seating flat against the headstock, and the resulting gap allowed the cover to vibrate against the headstock, causing a harmonic buzz that drove me nuts until PRS sent me a replacement part.
Other than that, it's one fine instrument!

I wanna love this guitar...

By Red from Lancaster, PA on November 10, 2023 Music Background: All of it...

I've owned one of these PRS acoustics for about 9 months now. I play semi professionally and wanted a decent guitar, so I wasn't continuing to bring my Martin's out to gigs. Crowds are becoming more bold and unpredictable AND the guitars were becoming worth more than my car. Anyway, the GOOD...

Upon receiving 3 of these (2 of my friends and I bought three identical guitars) I think I've got a pretty firm handle on these guitars. They play fantastically! Truly a joy to play out of the box. Frets are low, craftsmanship is impeccable, fret work is well done, necks are straight, binding done well, inlays are gorgeous, no dead spots. This was true of ALL THREE guitars.

Now the bad... literally, every single issue I have with these guitars is in the area of design. Example-I went to change the strings for the first time. The holes for the tuning pegs are recessed, so they fit INTO the bridge. It looks beautiful, but you'll never pull those pegs out. You've got to unwind all of the strings and push the pegs from the INSIDE OF THE GUITAR to get them out. You'll never be able to change just one string.

Continuing on with string changing; it's difficult to re-string the guitar because the tuning keys are so close together. I realize it's their headstock design, but it's awkward and difficult to maneuver. It would help to be slightly bigger, overall. The small size of the headstock makes it difficult to put a tuner on it, which brings me to my next issue...

The lack of a built in tuner is annoying. Add into the fact it's not easy to keep a clip on the headstock and it's down right infuriating. Easily the worst sounding plugged in guitar I've heard in the modern Era. Seriously. You buy a $ guitar, made in the Phillipines (THEY did a fantastic job, btw)- it should come with a stellar pre amp. This thing is absolute garbage. No depth or clarity, just dead flat. Whomever designed this guitar should be fired. Honestly.

I cannot stress the incredible quality these guitars possess. In the spirit of that, I'm going to have a better Fishman pickup put in and re- post after I've had some time with it.

I'm not trying to bag on PRS. I truly love their guitars! I'm trying to be helpful to the next buyer, because I don't think these guitars are very good, without a much better pre amp.

Thank you for your time. I hope this helps.
