Shure SE535 vs ZS10pro

By Avi Nahsohn from chula vista, CA on August 22, 2023 Music Background: bassist.

Searching for the best IEM tone playing bass in my church with the Behringer X32 mixer I was advised to acquire the KZS10PRO which supposedly produces better bass and more then Shure SE535 IEM so I've purchased the ZS10PRO and larger memory foam tips from Sonic foam which yields good bass yet with 5 drivers the bass seems to masks the mid's and highs with reduced clarity and balance yet sufficient for most folks. overall, ZS10PRO IEM are not superior to the SE535 which offers an incredible clear well balanced tone resulting real natural sound. as it turned out, the poor tone / lack of bass in my IEM resulted from poor misadjusted mixer board by some inexperienced sound guys and today A real sound man came and set my IEM tone and bass perfectly to my satisfaction with my SE535 IEM which again demonstrates Shure's product quality and flowless performance which justifies the higher price tag we pay for such awesome IEM. though not all musicians are willing to spend the higher cost of top quality IEM and settle for cheaper made in china IEM which works with increased quality these days.

Shure 535 ear buds

Great, clear sound!

These are absolutely amazing

By Waylon Anglin from Queen Creek, AZ on May 18, 2023 Music Background: Gigging Drummer & Singer

I'm a singer/drummer and have used cheaper in-ear models made by other manufacturers for years. Sound isolation and sound definition are always an issue for drummers that really need to discern sound clearly-- until now! These are, by far, the best in-ears that I have used. The low end is there, and the mids are exactly where I need them to be to hear vocals and guitars clearly. I was a bit leery on the price but they are definitely worth it. They fit well, they don't come loose, and the provide more than enough volume. I recommend them to anyone.

Perfect

By Rick Henson from TEXAS on February 3, 2023 Music Background: cover band guy

my guitar tones are finally there. The drums and bass sound amazing and full. I finally get to hear what the house hears. Best in ears ive ever had.

As good as I hoped they’d be!

By JACOB WOODALL from Telford, TN on December 14, 2022 Music Background: 25 years

After 2 years I had to replace my 215's due to damage. I knocked a table over in my studio and it fell directly on my IEM, snapping off the left side insert. When I saw the 525's on sale I knew that if I were going to upgrade I may as well make it worth it. When I first got them, I honestly wasn't that impressed at the difference. However, a few days later I realized that the insert I was using wasn't creating a complete seal in my ear. I switched to a different size and I couldn't believe how much more clarity and low end I was hearing over what I was used to with the 215s. Absolutely, 100% glad I decided to upgrade and cannot wait to take these things out on my next gig.

Really good isolation and a very good sound

By CN from San Diego County on June 14, 2022 Music Background: Pro

I'm a working drummer and I use these for live in-ear monitors. The isolation is so good that if you don't have drums in your mix, you're not going to hear your acoustic drums even though you are sitting behind the kit playing them. The isolation is that good. This is exactly what I was looking for, good sounding in-ear headphones with excellent sound and attenuation for hearing protection. I can turn the band down as much as I want without affecting anyone else. I run a sub-mix to the mains via aux sends from my own mixer and then I get an aux send back from the main mixer for whatever I want in my ear minus drums. I plug these into my mixer and that allows me to give myself just enough of my drums plus whatever I want from the mains. One of the bands I play with uses recorded tracks and therefore a click track, so it is critical that these things work well and they do. The sound is very good. Now mind you, the laws of physics limit how much bass you're going to get but these headphones really do sound good. And they stay in. They come with several fitting options but the default works fine for me. Once they're in they stay in. Love these things. I highly recommend them. Drummers can't get up and move around so wired is fine, no need to check batteries or worry about them going dead during a performance.

Amazing Sound and snug fit (Owned for 13 months and loving them so far!)

By Troy Edin from Fargo, ND on March 24, 2022

They fit more comfortable than cheaper earphones that I've owned and the sound is unmatched (Apples/Oranges for sure). You definitely get what you pay for. The lows are perfect and mid/high range are great too. If you're a bassist or guitarist, you absolutely can't go wrong with these guys.

Shure SE535 in ear monitors

By Mike Sheahan from Waddell, Az on November 9, 2021 Music Background: Drummer

Jay Dyer spent a considerable amount of time with me on the phone as I described my needs to upgrade and replace my old In Ear Monitors with a few phone photos of my existing gear. He walked me through the signal path to utilize a click and music through a small mixer of mine. When we discussed which monitors to buy Jay explained the different models and their capabilities. He didn't try to "over sell" a product that was top tier coupled to a high price. He explained "driver needs" and what each level would deliver in the way of the frequency spectrum. Jay matched my needs to an IEM that sounds great.

I appreciate Jay's knowledge and willingness to spend the time with me. He's a great asset to Sweetwater and the customers he serves.

Best in the Business

By Glen Guarin from Florida on May 26, 2021 Music Background: Professional Vocalist

I have used inner ear monitors for 20 plus years. I have owned several different companies IEM's and I always come back to Shure. Tried and True, Functional and Long Lasting even under daily use in a tough environment. Shure IEM are worth what you pay for them. They are the best units in their price range.

Great Sound

By Pastor Dave from Allentown on October 28, 2020 Music Background: Worship

By far the best in-ears I have ever used. The sound quality is absolutely incredible compared to the SE215's I've used in the past. I also have a pair of Audio Technica's with dual drivers, and they are horrible compared to the Shure SE535's! You won't regret purchasing these!!

Shure to not disappoint!

By Sweetwater Customer on August 3, 2020

After working with Keaton (Sweetwater engineering sales rep) I went back and forth about sticking with some Shure In Ear Monitors. Finally decided on the 535's and I am really happy that I did. For just a little more money they deliver a full range and tonal experience ...and I think they will last as long as my last pair of Shure's did - over 10 years now. Great product and excellent help from Sweetwater.

A little pricey but worth it!

By Stephen Fierz from Rockford, IL on July 25, 2020 Music Background: Pro

I have the Shure SE215, and they have done a great job, but I was looking for something with a little more volume and definition. These sure delivered. Clean, defined bass, very flat and smooth midrange, and crystal clear high end. Plenty of volume for use live on loud stages. I think, though pricey, these are going to pay huge dividends for me being able to hear better when I perform with live bands. If you can't hear well you can't play well.

Shure SE535 in ear monitors

By Jerry from Lewisburg OH on January 12, 2020 Music Background: Bassist & live sound

These are an upgrade from my SE 425 that I had been using. They even seem to add a little more volume and clarity
Cons:
They could be a bit cheaper if they didn’t put those other small assortment of Jack accessories with it

You’ll Love These

By Sweetwater Customer on November 1, 2019

Incredible sound and quality construction. You won’t be disappointed. I highly recommend them.

Love them!

By Sweetwater Customer on December 15, 2018 Music Background: Church Musician

These are the my first pair of in-ears, and I love them! I have had them for about a year now, and they work perfectly. The sound quality is great, and they are comfortable. I play guitar for church, and these are great for me. I would wait for sale… but watch them and wait for a sale. Definitely Recommended!

Nice sound

By John L from Orlando FL on October 21, 2015 Music Background: Guitarist

I am a guitarist in a band. I use this product as a part of my in-ears system. Very good sound. Great range. A little pricey but sometimes you get what you pay for... and that is the case with this product. Thumbs up!

Sound Great

By Ron Skidmore from Stoneville, NC on September 8, 2015 Music Background: Keyboards, Praise Band

This IEM is my first experience with in ear monitors, that being said I was a little skeptical of some of the cheaper models so I went with the Shure SE535-CL and I am well pleased with them. Haven't put them to a live mix test yet using a Behringer P16, but listening to a CD thru my computer they sound great. The response from the triple driver is great, you have an equal amount of lows, mids and highs before any equalization at all. For me, who has been using a wedge for many, many years and in the process of making the transition over to IEM's, I think it was worth the extra money to get a quality sounding IEM. Highly Recommend...

better than expected

By terry from florida on June 4, 2015 Music Background: Pro level in the 80's, today just for pleasure

I inadvertently damaged my shure SE215 earbuds. So while they were off being repaired by shure under warranty, I opted to go up a level and see just how much better these would be over the SE215's. Suffice it to say, they have a lot more bottom end, depth and tonal quality. I am very very happy that I opted to upgrade.

Worth the money

By Sesso from sun city, AZ on May 25, 2013 Music Background: DJ and Producer

They sound great and they come with the attenuator. I also like the sound Isolation with the black foam earbuds. It takes time to get used to mixing with them if you are using regular heaphones but it only took about 2 hours of mixing to get used to it.. The bass response is also great.

Great, fast Tech Service

By Sweetwater Customer on April 29, 2013

The other reviews cover the amazing sound of these in-ears.

I just wanted to add my experience with their service department after one of the buds housing broke. When I say "broke," I mean the headphones slid off a table and I accidentally stepped on one. As soon as I felt the crunch and realized what had happened, I knew that I just made a very expensive mistake that most certainly would not be covered under the warranty.

But not so. I called Shure, and they simply instructed me to send the headphones in for a full repair. I was lucky enough to have this happen while the headphones were still under warranty, and despite my honest description of how the headphones broke, they still repaired them absolutely free of charge. Moreover, the turnaround time was unbelievably fast, and the headphones were back in less than two weeks.

So, not only was I unbelievably thankful that they fixed my headphones for free after such blatant user error, I was very impressed at the speed and efficiency of their service department. Good on you, Shure.

best in ear monitors that I have ever used

By Mark Bram from Providence, RI USA on March 11, 2012 Music Background: Pro Musician, Recording Engineer

I use in ear monitors at rehearsal, so that the 16 speakers that I play through don't make me deaf (it's a complicated srereo wet/dry set up with 2 2x12 cabs, 2 4x12 cabs and 2 PA cabs). I also use them in the studio when I'm recording to find the sweet spot with all the mics that I use on my cabs. I REALLY care about my tone and I HATE using in ear monitors because it never sounds like my guitar (and finding the sweet spot is very hard, if it doesn't sound right). I have used three different custom fitted, expensive in ear monitors and was never satisfied. After a rehearsal where I couldn't take it anymore, took out my monitors and was messed up for days...dizzy, ears ringing, I decided to research new monitors. I read really good reviews on the 535 monitors. I figured that it would be more compatible with my shure system, so I gave it a shot. AMAZING! I had a ball at rehearsal. I could hear the tone in my guitar, but at a usable level. I cannot recommend these enough.

shure in ears se-535

By Brandon from Atlanta, Ga. U.S.A. on February 14, 2012 Music Background: freelance drummer

I have use Shure's in ear monitors for several years now, the e-2s and e-3s. All I can say is wow! I knew the SE-535s were top notch, but when I got them I didn't know how great they would be. I will suggest getting your hearing test and having molds made for custom sleeves. I used the sleeves that came with the puds for a month or so before my customs came in and I still stand by my comment. The only issue I had with their sleeves was if I smiled or something like that, one or both puds would move just enough to break the seal with my ear. With custom sleeves that doesn't happen. They sound incredible, i'm able to have my whole drum set, guitar, bass as needed, and vocals in my ears with no clipping in any way. I highly suggest them.

Shure SE535-cl

By Kevin Stone from West springfield, Ma on October 20, 2011 Music Background: I play keyboard and record music

These earphones are so clear in listening to high's, mid's and low's sounds that you feel like you got front row seats in front of the band. you can hear the smallest and lightest sounds coming from the music you are listening to. The earphones pick up every detail in the songs being played. I listened to songs I recorded and the songs sound fantastic. I was really proud of the songs I have written when listening to the Shure earphones. I sound better llistening with these earphones then the cheapo's I was listening to my recorded songs with. The Shure earphones are AWESOME. Everyone should own a pair. they are a great investment that you won't ever regret buying

Very good in ears for listening to music or for playing in a band live

By Keith from PA on November 10, 2023

I used the Shure SE 425's for several years. After having a problem with the right channel, I decided to order the SE 535's. (I later learned I needed to clear wax out of the right channel of the 425's by the way which fixed the problem). Both the 425's and 535's have a buttery smooth mids. The 425's have a recessed low and high's and though this may be good for playing live when you want to follow the lead vocalist, however there are better options.

The 3 driver SE 535's in comparison to the 2 driver SE 425's has a larger sound stage, and the lows and highs are brought forward so you could hear all the instruments better. They fit well in your ear and seal up with the foam tips. All in all, these are decent headphones and their price was originally around $ which is now around $, so these are a good buy in my opinion and I would recommend them for in ears in their price range.

was using kz's

By Sweetwater Customer on December 16, 2020

Used cheap Kz's for years. They were fine. After a while they would start to hurt and not fit right. When they don't fit right they sound terrible. These Shure's sounded terrible with the size of ear piece that they come with but when I finally found the right size and fit the sound finally came alive with excellent sound isolation.

Very good detail

By Sweetwater Customer on January 30, 2015

I had been using the Shure SE215 for the last year which was great compared to the floor wedges I've used forever. The SE535's were a huge step up as I had hoped. Especially the bottom end that these could handle in comparison to the single driver in the SE215.

Upgrade From 425?

By Dave H. on July 9, 2019

Bought these as an upgrade to the 425 and spare set. Not as midrangey as the 425 but they seem more strident and frankly the bass isn't any better. Hopefully there is some break-in that will improve things. From a monitor utility standpoint, right now the 425 functions better for hearing things in the mix. Used with shures psm 900 system.

Good music but bad material

By Neo on September 9, 2022

Shure is known for their good music and vocals, however it is also known to break or crack easily, repairs and replacement take very long under warranty. Maybe shure can work on this.

Shute SE535

By Sweetwater Customer on August 17, 2022

Very disappointed in these, I am replacing the 2nd mold/driver.
Overall the sound is okay.
The first time the mold came unglued and fell apart, then a driver went out, I had to pay Shure to replace it.
Then, after finishing the last set of a gig one evening, I went to take the left bud out of my ear and the mold broke apart in two pieces right down the middle leaving the remainder in my ear to pluck out.
I don't know if it's the plastic that is used in construction of the molds or what, but for a $ set of buds Shure seriously needs to look into the design of the molding process of their buds.

Not what I expected

By Sweetwater Customer on February 17, 2021

These are some good earphones but for the price I was better off with my 215. They sound like the mid range is not balanced with high and low frequencies. The 215 are way more accurate with all the frequencies. For me, it's not worth the money for the result.

I was told I could use these for bass guitar monitoring - distorts at low volumes with flat EQ on passive basses!

By Jake from CLE on December 12, 2023 Music Background: 40 years as a bassist

I was told I could use these for bass guitar monitoring - distorts at low volumes with flat EQ on passive basses! I bought these as a backup for my Westone triple drivers, which were in the repair shop (after 10 years of use). What a waste of money. Not just my low B & E strings, but even the A string distorts. I wasn't pushing them too hard. I keep my IEM belt pack at 3.5-4/10
Got my Westones back and realized too late that I should have just bought a backup set of Westones. New Westones are better than the older ones. The old ones didn't distort, btw.
