Probably one of the best out of the box guitars I have owned.
In 40 years I have owned a lot of different guitars, some play great off the shelf and some need a heck of a lot of love to get them to my liking. This one outside of a tuning that is expected plays like an absolute dream. It sounds great the neck is perfection. It's a great sounding guitar and overall a stellar guitar.

Truly Superb
I lowered the action slightly to match my liking but honestly every other aspect of this guitar far exceeded my expectations. It is superb. It's build craftsmanship, it sound from at three settings of its "six pack of sound" are uniquely great. This guitar is a beyond a tool, rather a work of art. The artist/persons who designed, built, and set it up have produced a work which shows how great they are.
The switch does have small breaks in the sound when it is moved, but such is the nature of this switch.
Super Strat, Super Guitar!
I've been searching for a good super-strat style guitar to replace another guitar in my collection, and haven't found one I've bonded with for any amount of time yet - but I think this may be it. Tried and true Seymour Duncan pickup combo, with the 3-way selector, the volume knob push/pull to provide 6 different pickup combinations, along with the no-load tone control - all of that yields a very flexible guitar. I love the color and the matte finish, feels solid, clean, and smooth. High quality components and installation scream pro quality, there's nothing cheap on this guitar. And the neck - PERFECT! Charvel, hands-down, has the best guitar necks. Smooth, fast, shaped to accommodate any need. And for me, I definitely prefer a maple fretboard. This is about as close to a perfect guitar as I've found for me. It even has a legit Floyd Rose - although I'm not a fan of floating trems in general. For a guitar to be a workhorse, this offers lots of sound options for the pickups, but you can't change the tuning on a floating trem, so forget being able to switch to Drop D. So.. I had the techs at Sweetwater block it for me. Now it fits all of my needs! (OK, well maybe adding in some piezo tech to let me get acoustic sounds, too...). My only feedback to Charvel would be to offer this color (and other color options) in a hard tail config. The color choices in hard tail were too limited, which is why I went with this one and blocked the trem. But all up, this is an AMAZING axe, and plays like a dream. I also own a Gibson Les Paul, Gibson ES339, PRS Studio, PRS S2 Vela, 2 EVH Wolfgangs, a James Tyler Variax, and a (Mexican) Fender strat. This Charvel is now likely to see more gigging than any of them.
So good I got two!
I got the pro mod san dimas rocket red before the matte blue. The rocket red was so impressive I had no problems purchasing the other months later. Both are stunning to look at, pieces of art. And they play incredible. Sound is awesome. The necks are perfect. The whole thing is perfect! Both instruments. The action on the guitar will probably be the one thing you have to adjust, and that's always an individual preference. But not a complaint. I love my charvels!

Amazing neck!
My biggest struggle with guitars is finding a neck that"s perfect for my hands along with having great tone and looks good! This guitar checks all boxes! Stays in tune for weeks!! & if it"s ever slightly out of tune it literally takes 10 secs to fine tune it and you"re good to go for another few months! I use to be all about PRS and would spend so much money on those guitars that didn"t even make me as happy as this guitar does! Sure they"re beautiful but comfort is number one to me and besides music man, Charvel are my go to guitars! Get ready to go from jazz, grunge, metal, djent, rock and anything in between. This guitar literally does it all with the jazz & jb combo!
