Excellent microphone with a clean, rich sound. The build feels premium, vocals come through warm and clear. Great for recording, streaming, or podcasts if you want a polished pro sound right out of the box. Highly recommend.

While this microphone looks similar to the venerable SM7B, it is not the same. I actually like the sound of the SD-1 better! This mic has similar lowend and midrange to the SM7B, but with a bit more high end response. Add in the included UAD plugins, and this is an amazing bargain.

The classic SM7B is the standard for serious streamers across twitch, and while it sounds amazing, I feel that the extra high end on the SD-1 makes it stand out in a good way. I also like the white color scheme, and the build quality feels solid! Another pro for this mic is the classic pivot mount, which works well on desk mount mic booms.

It's pattern and rejection is similar to other dynamic mics I have used (SM58, SM7B), and does well at not picking up too much ambient background noise.

As with almost any Dynamic mic, it's output is fairly low fed directly into my Motu M4, but a Cathedral Pipes Durham booster wakes up this mic.

This is a sturdy, well built, dynamic mic. It sounds great on its own without the modeling features. It doesn't sound exactly like my SMB7 but it does the same job just as well. Given the awesome modeling capabilities, it certainly has more sonic options and will work in more situations. I've found it makes a great snare mic. If you are looking for a single mic to cover typical dynamic SMB7 or 57 applications, this mic is a great option.

I got the mic few weeks ago and used it the first time this weekend on some sound testing in my home studio. I want to achieve the "Joe Rogan Sound". This mic has gotten me closer than any other mic in my mic locker. It sound very clean and has a true broadcast sound. I had to do very little EQ'ing to get a clean sound.

I never write reviews and typically love UA gear but mine broke sitting in a studio for less than two years. When it worked it was great but I bought this one after my SM7B broke after 15 years of legit abuse.

The SD-1 sounds great right out of the box and does a decent job of off-axis rejection. Up close it has a solid proximity effect. With the included Hemisphere mic-modeling plugin. It can help the SD-1 sound a little more like other popular, more expensive dynamic mics. It adds some sonic versatility the mic.

But, if you're hoping to find a less expensive version of the Shure SM7B, the SD-1 is not it, though the Hemisphere software modeling helps. The filter switches on the SD-1 are nice, but only useful in specific applications. The included presets for Apollo users are only starting points, but they are not in and of themselves worth buying the mic for.

Overall, I like this mic and am making it my mainstay for vocal recording. It sounds great right out of the box and if you've an Apollo interface, sounds ever better with theirUAD plugins. It is a quiet mic, like others in this class, so a mic activator / preamp can help if your interface / mixer cannot provide enough wanted gain.

I've no regrets with this mic.

I've been using this microphone for about 6 months in place of my SM7B over my piano. It's a great vocal mic for the application because it's fairly directional and due to it's low sensitivity it doesn't pick up a lot of background noise such as the piano or rest of the band.

Only thing I might suggest is that you should consider pair a cloudlifter with this mic or you will find yourself noticing your Gain volume levels nearing max peak..... But other than that it is a dope mic my opinion especially the many templates it comes with when . With my Apollo
