My teacher recommended this mixer as a starter. So far, it has been very helpful. Easy to learn

Incredible Value, Everything you need

By Sweetwater Customer on December 5, 2021

Unreal Numark has this mixer at this price point. This was my first mixer for my first personal DVS setup, loving the value since I also just dropped a ton on turntables.

Has all the features you want from $1k+ Serato mixers, just with no added fluff or excess. This is a more barebones 2-track mixer, with only 4 cue/sample pads and a dedicated fx bank. Seems like you're basically paying for more of the same buttons with a more expensive mixer, so keep that in mind when assessing your needs for real. Nothing major or essential is missing, the only things missing are fancier features I consider not worth the added cost for me right now. This has everything you need, nothing you don't, & is perfect for a more traditional turntablist style DJ, or someone getting started with DVS not looking to drop a fortune on a mixer.

Build & sound card quality is top notch. Pads & knobs feel great with perfect resistance, & the crossfader/vol may be my new favorite of all time.

The only thing I find myself wishing I had was a jog wheel & deck load buttons for serato. I always like it better if I can DJ without really needing to touch my laptop. Other than that, I felt at home almost instantly coming from mostly controller DJing. If anything, it's easier to cue & set loops with this than it was with my mixtrack.

Very well could be your first & last mixer!

Great mixer for Serato DJs at a great price!

By DJ VB from SoCal on March 29, 2020 Music Background: DJ and wannabe music producer

This mixer is amazing. I can't believe the price Numark sells it at. It has a great feature set and as long as you're a Serato head, it will work out great for you. The effects are easy to trigger and to have paddle triggered FX on a mixer at this price is amazing. I'm very happy with the Scratch mixer. The sound is amazing, even on standard vinyl. The fact that Numark was able to put a sound card and phono amps that sounds this good in a mixer at this price boggles my mind. I've seen people complain about the volume of the mic, but they probably don't have their volume set correctly. If your channel volume meters are way up but your master volume meters are 1 tick, you're not doing it right. Set your sound correctly and you won't have any issues with the mic. Also, if you have a deeper voice, like me, you'll want to set the "Tone" more towards low. I wish they had included 8 pads on each side, but I decided to pick up a Reloop Neon from Sweetwater in order to have RGB hot cues and Slicer mode among other Serato features. I highly recommend grabbing the Reloop Neon sub controller w/ it's stand to go with this DJ mixer. It's a great combo and you'll have most of the features of the more expensive mixers for... cheaper. Anyway I love this mixer and the Innofader feels great. It's a nice tight cut and it feels very smooth. The line faders feel good also. If you're in the market for a budget DJ mixer. Look no further than this. It took the reigns from the Traktor Z2 and is not looking back. Peace and stay safe out there with this Coronavirus going around!

I love it

The best DJ mixer I ever had in a long time

Hits way above its weight!

By shawn from Pennsylvania on January 14, 2022 Music Background: turntablist

where to start about this awesome mixer? Well I am mostly a turntablist and was wanting to get a fancy new dvs mixer, cant afford the rane or pioneer models and seen this and did a little research and pulled the trigger, I do not regret this purchase.

A couple weeks after I purchased this mixer and got familiar with it I used it at a small wedding with just a macbook. AND it actually works perfectly as standalone unit to control serato. The line faders can be used to start the songs you have ready to play if you hold the shift button and move the faders up. The mixer is light weight, yet pretty sturdy. The EQs feel nice to use and the mixer sounds amazing. I was told my music sounded better and more clear than the last DJ at the venue. The filters sound really good and unlike the efx can be used with vinyl. The finish of the mixer is pretty nice as well, its a nice matte color and the paint has been holding up around the fader area after months of scratching. There are a couple things I dont really like about the mixer but its pretty minor and doesnt take away from the massive pros of the mixer. Im not a fan of the volume led display being red and white, I prefer the standard green, yellow and red format. And the crossfader isnt exactly the easiest thing to remove if you want to replace it.

But as I said earlier I am mostly a turntablist, so while the mixer is great...lets talk about the faders its equipped with. The linefaders feel pretty standard and are pretty smooth, they dont have any options to adjust them on the mixer unless you go to the settings in serato. The crossfader is a mini innofader, after about 5 months of solid use and practice its still holding up perfectly, I dont believe this fader will ever wear out unless something physically breaks on it which I dont believe will happen from regular use. Innofader has been in the game for a long time and make one of the best faders you can get, hands down. The fader has a about a 1.5mm cut in, thats pretty sharp and you can do any scratch on it easy. Its not the sharpest fader I used though so after using an ecler hak 380 with the eternal crossfader Im used to a much sharper cut in point. Its pretty smooth fader, Im used to my faders being a little looser and lighter, but its still good enough to do all scratches. My biggest gripe with the fader is that you cant take it apart without soldering and some tedious finger work. So when the day comes you may need to clean and apply more lube its gonna be a process and requires some tools and skill with a soldering iron. I really enjoy the slim profile of the fader caps.

Overall the mixer lives up to its name, its a great mixer for doing battle routines, extremely easy to use and setup. It punches above its weight and it punches up some more. I cant recommend this mixer enough to someone getting into a dvs setup or just starting out or maybe looking for a backup mixer to their rane or pioneer.

Love it. But

By Sweetwater Customer on June 30, 2019

The Numark Scratch is the best mixer in my opinion in the price group. It has everything you need that the other more expensive mixer offer. The only thing I found when playing the mixer was when I wanted to use a Aux in that"s when I was disappointed. But I use a splitter for the 1/4" mic input which worked well.

Solid buy for the price

By Sweetwater Customer from florida on July 7, 2020

Excellent mixer, especially for the price point. Feels solid to work with and the sound is clear.

Good for price

By Chris Neu on June 9, 2020

Good for the price, but not great. I've only used a handful of times, with serato and stand alone. Serato already had glitches here and there and I had to restart software/computer to fix. Stand alone does not have effects, the onboard effects only work when connected with serato, which sucks. Fader is good. Wish I had the money for a rane. Oh well.
