TC Electronic Stereo Chorus +

By Ken W. from Clio, Mi
Music Background: Hobbyist

It's a great sounding chorus, flanger, and pitch shifter pedal. I was using a MXR Zakk Wylde pedal before I tried this one and after testing them both out the TC Electronic pedal just sounds better to me. The only drawback about this pedal is no stereo input just a stereo output.

A subtle chorus

By Gregg R. from Huntington Station, NY

I prefer this chorus over the Jam Pedals Waterfall chorus. The Waterfall has too much dip in pitch whereas the TC is much more subtle and pleasing.

THE SOUND OF THE 80s!

By Bill H. from Charlotte, NC
Music Background: 60 year guitarist, bass player and Producer. ReverbNation Artist.

I like this pedal a lot because it adds just a subtle sonic layer around your main tone. There's plenty of the effect there, it just doesn't go over the top like some chorus pedals do. It works best in stereo, but just fine in mono through an amp. Many stereo chorus pedals that I've owned didn't have a lot of headroom on their input, so they would often clip with a hot signal, this TC does not. With this new edition of the classic pedal, TC added an adjustable input gain and I believe that makes the increase in headroom possible. The added gain control knob can also work as a boost or overdrive if you crank it up. The pedal uses a standard 9 volt power supply, so it's pedalboard friendly. Does it sound like the original, I don't know, but it sounds really good and it's quiet. It reminds me of the Boss Waza Craft Dimension D chorus pedal that I had, but with more headroom.

They have done it again !

By Greg L. from so cal
Music Background: pro musician, producer

I have owned the orig. one for years, Great effect never liked the fact it had to be plugged into an ac outlet so when I heard about the return of one of the best pedals and it used 9 volt pedal board power I had to get one , the price was so low I thought it was a misprint , I ordered one and boy am I glad I did , completely quiet, incredible chorus, Flanger and pitch modulation, I run my amps in stereo, this effect is great !! nothing I don't love about it. GREAT WORK TC ELECTRONIC

Killer Chorus

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: Hobbyist

Two of my favorite guitarists, Michael Hedges, and Eric Johnson used this pedal. For many years, I lusted after one of these in the used market. Then one day I saw that they had re-issued them.. I had one on backorder for many months. I had forgotten all about it when my sales rep had called, to let me know that it came in.. It was worth the wait the chorus is a very usable unit not overbearing, which is why I stopped using chorus pedals years ago. It is very subtle, but it does not mess up your tone and make it thin. You hardly know it's there until you turn it off. This TC SCF is an incredible buy.

Familiar sound

By Patrick from Banks
Music Background: 50 years of just jamming!

This chorus sounds like you've heard it a thousand times in music from the 80s and 90s, its not over over the top or out front to much, its like it knows its mix and it just ads a little something rather than just playing with something. It has a gain knob that balances where it sets in mix when you cut it on and off, I was looking for a chorus that wasn't a rack until or 7 voices...just simple chorus and this is working. Thanks to Tylor my guy at Sweetwater, he always helps me out

TC ELECTRONIC SCF Then and now…

By Joseph L. from Akron, OH
Music Background: R&B, Contemporary Gospel, and Jazz guitar player

Some things change and some things stay the same. Back in the early '90s when the R&B music scene was hot in Cleveland and I was gigging a lot, I bought my first "used" TC SCF and incorporated it into my then-rack/pedalboard setup and it lasted thru many changes and reconfiguration over, say a five-year year period. FFW to 2002 when I started gigging in the Charlotte, NC area. Another rack/pedalboard rig. I had started using a LEXICON PCM-41 unit strictly for its chorus effect, but the SCF remained as it had more character and just a unique vibe all its own, so I switched between the two units with the SCF being my primary chorus for years. FFW to 2017. I still had the old TC SCF as it survived many pedal board changes and was ever-present on every rig I put together. That's a testament to its sound quality which I've described as the FATTEST chorus ever made. Not to mention the SCF's ruggedness. But that sound?! I've never been able to get away from it. And I love chorus! Its been a big part of my sound since I can remember. The old SCF I had eventually got retired in 2017.. The pots got really noisy and it had taken a beating. But it STILL worked! I sold it for a profit to I'm guessing, a collector and bought the new and improved SCF Gold and kept it on my board for a long time. I sold the Gold about 2 years later and regretted it. FFW to 2025. I've got arguably the very best-sounding chorus pedals ever made-bar none - sitting on my board (FREE THE TONE AVATAR TRI-CHORUS, Jackson Audio New Wave Chorus, and the Eventide H9 TRICERACHORUS), but still! There IS a spot on my board for the SCF Gold that I ordered today (actually I bought two of 'em) I'm waiting to have shipped from SWEETWATER to bring back "that sound" again! I can hardly wait! Cheers everybody and a special shout out to my awesome sales engineer, Larry!

Underwhelming

By Justin R. from OH
Music Background: Songwriter, composer, producer, worship pastor

Underwhelming is being kind. I was really disappointed with this one. I was thinking this would be a lite version of the 1210 Spatial Expander, but it's not even close. If you want that sound on a budget, get the plugin. The sound is thin, glassy, fragile and with no personality. I don't care for the flange or the pitch mod. The build quality of the base seems solid, but the knobs are a thin plastic that I just would not trust to last long.

YouTube reviews present a very good sounding chorus, but I think that is layered under already well-crafted tones that the presenters have already developed.

I've played on old choruses . . . Roland JC, Boss CE-2, CE-1, etc., and I would say Roland's chorus is genuinely the gold standard for chorus. I would avoid this one and go Boss CE-2W for a nice warm, lush chorus that delivers a classic, tried and true chorus without pretentiousness.

Additionally with the big fire sale Sweetwater put out with this that resulted in a huge backlog and long wait time, I felt really let down that this product stunk as much as it did. The multiple sales engineers I spoke with when inquiring on the order could have steered me a different direction.

TC Electronic SCF Gold Chorus

By Sweetwater Customer from OR

I have the original and wanted to get rid of the need for a seperate AC cord, but this won't do. To my ear it sounds brighter than the original. I prefer the tone of the original. It's good, but not good enough for me to keep.

My Favorite Chorus

By curtis n. from los angeles, CA

I have almost every chorus pedal you can think of and I keep putting this back on my board. It is really smooth and doesn't mess with your tone in the way of a big mid bump or shift to the underlying tone of your instrument beyond the chorus effect itself.

Not sure how to explain it, it just feels better than other chorus pedals 4 times the price, plus you get a great flange and chorus/flange combo setting.

If you are new to chorus or an OG, grab one of these and give it try, it ended my decades long chorus search.

Nice pedal for chorus/flanger/pitch modulation

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: amateur guitarist

I bought this pedal on sale and it was a super deal. I already have a TC Electronic chorus pedal, but I wanted a flanger pedal. This pedal is great for chorus, flanger or pitch modulation effect. Easy to use. Although it is large, it only needs a 9v power supply. Great for electric guitar, acoustic guitar, and bass guitar.

TC Electronic SCF Gold Stereo Chorus Flanger Pedal

By Sweetwater Customer

Very pleased with this pedal. I have several Chorus/Flangers and each has a tasty flavour that the others do not bring. Sometimes I want an obvious flanging effect. But I won't want it on all the time. This flanger is mature, subtle and musical... and I want it on ALL THE TIME. It adds a gentle but thick "something" that just needs to be there now that it is available on my pedal board. Very nice.

Not like the original

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: M.M

Sounds like a cheap version of the original (I have one). I bought it for the convenience of 9v on my board. Its sounds like any of the cheaper choruses, its not bad, but its NOT even close to the greatness of the original. A useful pedal but not great.

9 volts for the best

I had the original and thought it was easily the best sounding chorus. It has a beautiful clarity. I soon got tired of the AC cord. I'm so glad the 9v sounds just like the original.

Okay

By R W. from NC
Music Background: 45 Years Experience

This unit is definitely designed to be run in stereo, it's in the name. It's probably a great piece of equipment if you do that, but in mono it's just meh. Thin & chimey. For simplicity, I like pedals that are designed to work in mono. If you don't intend to use the SCF in stereo, I'd suggest the TC Corona. It is fabulous in that capacity.

is actually quite good. Talk about attention to detail,

Fantastic little pedal that holds true to the original

By Paul from Maryland

I love me a flanger, but I also wanted a chorus pedal, and I was out of room on my board. After watching some reviews/demos, I decided to pick up one of these reissues, and wow, it really impresses. The flanger side isn't quite as strong of a flanger as I'm used to, but boy does the chorus side really shine. I've found myself playing with a light chorus for far more things that I thought, and you can even get it into Leslie territory with the right settings. And the pitch modulation setting is a bonus.

Totally worth a look if you're in the market for this kind of pedal.

I'm using this to split signal to two amps—sounds amazing with a little pitch detune.

The other sounds are awesome too! Lush and warm… love the flanger setting for my Barracuda riffing!

Different flavor and Versatile

By Ray from Central Pa
Music Background: Hobbyist songwriter/guitar player

This is an analog classic reissue I've wanted to get my hands on.. I was even more sold after watching studio rats on YouTube and their demo…wow
I've got a lot different chorus pedals and most of the top name ones…. Yes the chorus is great… What is different about this pedal is the pitch modulation option…when running mono it does something different and special… really gives a wide effect no chorus warble and really works well with distortion (using Revv G4) even after distortion pedal… the flanger is good too… it not quite Halen to me but if you want a different flavor of it, it's there too. 3 options and saving space and Add in top mount jacks…. Classic that still is versatile and relevant

By Josh from Local 47

This is my third or fourth tc electronic SCF and it is definitely comparable to both the original black only(best sounding) and later version with purple. 9V convenience is great and love the price.

Almost perfect

By Joseph B. from SC
Music Background: Professional for 50 years

You have those running a mono send to the amp input and those running in a loop.
Some run the loop in mono and some run it in Stereo. If you have several pedals with stereo ins and outs and you get to this pedal, if it is not the first pedal in the loop, you can't use it. The stereo run is perfect as long as you don't have anything in the stereo loop running before this chorus. It needs stereo ins also and it would be flawless. If they wanted to world best chorus, add a stereo detune before the chorus that is adjustable also would know this out of the park. The mono input in not an issue for people running mono and it is not an issue if you have a mono instrument (Guitar) and using this as a first effect in a stereo situation. If you are using a keyboard in stereo is won't work at all unless you just run mono. Once you go stereo, you will never go back. Another thing they could do is is all midi and at least give you 4 presets. I understand that adding midi, stereo input, and a pitch detune would increase the price. My main point is, if it has stereo outs, it needs stereo ins. I get what they did was for the price point. This pedal and Dimension D are my favorites.

Sometimes a device reputation is well deserved!

By Sweetwater Customer

3 things lead me to buy this pedal:
1. Feature set
2. Reputation
3. Price

My train of thought was buy it's cheap enough and not as common as it once was so if I had to sell it I wouldn't loose much of if anything. My major concern was how will sound with Bass guitar.
Well let me tell you it adds just that certain something that's just a wonderful tone and feel. It's not the most overtop Chorus but for lack of better terms it just works and works well with other pedals. There still 1 or 2 other chorus pedals I want to try. But I'm never letting this one go and will be on a pedalboard of mine for years to come. By the best bang for the buck in a chorus pedal out there.

Just amazing!

By Raul A. from Ecuador
Music Background: Bass, keys and guitar player.

Better than expected. The PM setting is what I've been looking for since I played Boss GTs Detuner chorus in the 90s! The flanger is super useful for Police like tones. The chorus is perfect also. Stereo works as expected, but will cancel out if mono summed. The main difference with other chorus pedals for me is that the high end remains intact, no loss of tone when engaging, even Strymon Mobius suffers from a 10 kHz low cut.

A GREAT Chorus, but...

By VG from Atlanta

Growing up in the 70s and 80s, I appreciate chorus and flange sounds from time to time and use them on a few songs. I own an MXR Micro Flange and its been a great flanger (and does an admiral job mimicking chorus when set right), but I wanted a combination pedal that could do both fairly well. I don't know the history of the SCF Stereo Chorus, but I took a chance based on the accolades. I will admit that the chorus sounds fantastic. It's lush. It's an uncomplicated pedal with no excess in the knobs department and has no discernable noise. The input gain knob is a treat as well, offering a boost even when the effect is off. I've never been interested in pitch modulating, so I won't comment on the middle toggle position. My disappointment is with the flanger. Regardless of how I adjust the knobs, I cannot get (what I know to be) a good flange effect. I'm sure it's fine for some, but the "jet sweep" or "swooshing" sounds are not in this unit. Not even close. Frankly, it doesn't sound much different from the chorus. I may keep it just because of the great features it DOES have, but I will be looking for another unit that does both well enough for my purposes.

As always, my man Jimmy Hart at Sweetwater always takes great care of me and I love shopping here!

Great chorus

By Sweetwater Customer

Great vintage chorus, very easy to dial-in good tones. Works well on bass, as well as guitar. The top-mounted jacks help to conserve space on your pedalboard. The SCF Gold sounds warmer and more natural than Boss-style chorus pedals.

The sound I've been looking for!

By Joseph S. from BEAVER FALLS, PA

I just got my TC Electronic SCF Gold Stereo Chorus Flanger and couldn't be happier. It's the rich classic sound I've been hunting for a long time. I bought it for the flanger, but the chorus is magnificent. The pedal seems well built and is very simple to use. I especially like the silent bypass switch. I mostly play in a small setting and hated hearing a loud 'click' when I finished a song and turned my other chours pedal off. No more of that! It's a great pedal with a smooth classic sound. Thanks Sweetwater and TC Electronics.

Cool Idea but...

By Sweetwater Customer from TX

I have individual chorus, flanger, and pitch pedals on my board so I don't have to bend over to flip a switch. This pedal is cool for studio recording but I'll pass on the pedalboard application.

Much more than a chorus pedal

By Sweetwater Customer from United States

I wasn't sure that I needed another chorus pedal, but this is so much more. The three modes, chorus, flanger, and pitch shift are versatile and work in a way which makes them different from other pedals. When engaged, the effects blend with the direct signal, not overpowering. The addition of an input gain is a great feature to get a boost when engaged. The switch on the unit is a soft switch, not the hard click on/off, which avoids the pops and clicks associated with other pedals. I've read some reviews that complained about this, when all it is, is a slight adjustment from other pedals. It engages quickly, just that the touch feels different.

TC Chorus

By John from Los Angeles

Excellent chorus and Flange sound with some new features especially the 9 volt power.
My only con is that it would be nice to have a separate foot switch to toggle between chorus and Flange.

Awesome Pedal

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: Indie rock guitarist who should be a lot better after doing this for so long.

Not usually a fan of chorus, but this is a fantastic recreation of a vintage pedal that allows you to do so much more than just add 80s cheese. The pitch modulation alone is worth it, just to get a great tape warble effect. Doubt I'll use the flanger much, but if you're into early 90s grunge it would be perfect for that. It's easy to dial in a great chorus tone that doesn't always sound like Def Leppard (though it can definitely do that, as well). And a steal at this price.

April 29, 2022

if you're not grabbing one of these for a mere $150 what on earth do you expect???

By Paul from van dwn by the river

A silly low price for this pedal, better than the original, I had one and yes, it is better. A mere $150 for this quality of a pedal is just crazy. Keep the width and intensity around mid way and the speed or lower and it is just a beautiful sounding pedal, low noise, high head room, fantastic stereo split, what's not to love??? I am not a huge fan of the tc stuff these days but this one, holy crap, one the best chorus/flange pedals ever!

My search for chorus is over!

By Neal from Perkinsville, Vt

I'm a huge fan of the chorus effect. This pedal nails all of it. Subtle to full on lush. The other functions are great as well. It is spectacular in mono. If you have the chance to rig it in stereo, you will be mind blown. No need to hear more. Just time to indulge in its sonic landscape ;}

It's good to have an old friend back!

By Guitar M. from Hawaii
Music Background: solo guitarist, instructor

Waaaaay back in the 70s I owned the original TC-CF, but like most of my cohorts I was always being lured into getting the newest and coolest electronic bauble, so the TC Chorus was eventually traded or sold so I could get something newer and hipper. I can't recall what replaced the Chorus, but I always remembered that thick, swirly, analog sound, so in the 2000s I eventually decided to get another TC-CF except it was now a vintage-collectible and the price had skyrocketed far beyond my budget.
Then I saw that TC Electronics was reissuing the pedal and better still at price I could afford!!! I got the just days after I placed my order, opened it up, and took it to a solo gig the next day.
To my ears the chorus setting still has that same warm and fuzzy analog sound that I remembered and I have to resist leaving it on all the time. The one improvement over the old pedal is the switch from an AC cable to a 9v plug making the box more pedal board friendly.
Thank you for bringing an old friend back...

Great Pedal !

By Mike A. from Connecticut
Music Background: Part Time Musician (Experienced)

This is the best chorus to date I have used in pedal format. I have been through Boss CE-2W., Ibanez mini chorus, TC Corona, MXR Micro Chorus, EHX Small Clone, to name a few. This is the only one that I am satisfied with both clean and dirty. Very easy to dial in. It can be as lush or as subtle as you wish. The input gain is very useful as well. I use mainly the chorus effect. The flanger is nice as well, but my review pertains mostly to the chorus effect. I am running it in mono in the FX loop of my POD GO. I will get around to using it with some real amps soon, but I am pretty confident it will be even better with that setup.

This is the chorus to buy

By Jasco from Nashville

Chorus and flange both sound great. Nice and open with clear top end. Footswitch design is a bit weird - the effect engages when you lift your foot up, instead of when you push the switch down. Might require a bit of retraining if you do a lot of pedal tap-dancing. Killer chorus pedal other than that.

February 22, 2022

Sounds fantastic, chintzy footswitch

By Karl B. from SKANEATELES, NY

Flanger and chorus are A+ -- kicked the Walrus Polychrome off my board. Thicker, better response on the highs, really liking it over all.

Cons: The worst footswitch on any pedal I own - small, cheap feeling, hard to tell w/ your foot if you've engaged the pedal or not; different than other TC pedals. Also, typical of most TC pedals now, the pedal does not engage until you release the footswitch, I can't understand this design decision. Lastly, there is a brief volume drop off when you first engage if you are in Pitch Modulation mode - I don't really care about this mode, but if you did, I'm sure that would be annoying.

February 20, 2022

ahead of it's time classic now still on par w anything or better

By Paul from van dwn by the river
Music Background: heavy fusion

I had the original ages ago before I knew what running stereo even was. The new version is better and the old was way ahead of it's time. Basic chorus and flange w an added mix of vibrato/chorus mode. Easy to adjust and use BUT for some reason as many of us see, those who get free pedals or even paid to do reviews seem to be too stupid to read or care what or how things work. OK INTENSITY control knob: 1) It is a MIX on the chorus setting so one would not want to go past 50%/12:00 as a chorus is usually a 50% mix of dry to modulated it sounds more musical. 2) INTENSITY on flange mode is the intensity of the flanger, period. 3) INTENSITY on Pitch Modulation mode is a MIX of chorus to vibrato, so again 50% or maybe a little more chorus side is more musical. Of course there may be sonic exceptions but how many video/demos of bad chorus, always, always set too fast a speed and too much mix, they just don't sound that good. This a much better sounding unit than you might imagine in full stereo spread at about 12:00 speed, 50% mix.
