Martin SC-28E with LR Baggs electronics a Wonderful Guitar...
I have had nine Martins over the years and my new SC-28 E is maybe the best all-around player of the lot. It came earlier than I had expected and when I opened the case the day after it was delivered I was truly taken by what a beautiful instrument it is. Classic old-school tone woods with elegant but simple decorative inlays, banding and great open tuners in dark grey. The neck is the "new"Martin" style w/ 13 fret shallow and extremely easy natural player. In some ways it's the most intuitive feeling Guitar I own that lets you play in any style with gusto , nuance and expressive potential. It is a special guitar that really begs the player to be dig in, explore and enjoy. It is tonally very balanced w/ great lows and mids and has that Martin clarity that is addictive. I wanted a top tier Martin cutaway and after several months of searching found this one. (I did not like the new Martin Inception and found it to be a visually dull & spartan instrument that was sonically flat and uninspiring.) But SC-28 E on the other hand is a brilliant but expensive guitar that is as charming to look at and play as it is beautiful sounding. It would be exactly the kind of Martin that you could be proud to own and it will no doubt sound even better years down the road. .....and I have to say the Spruce top w/ it's subtle markings and warmish tonality is even bettered by some of there most beautiful Rosewood I have ever seen.. This is a real winner: A new Martin that will no doubt be a hit once they start arriving at dealers! Thanks again to Matthew at Sweetwater for making this happen! Bravo...
