Great for monitoring BPM
I bought this to use with the liveBPM app, which detects the tempo at which you are playing. I've this to be immensely helpful for diagnosing where I slightly change the tempo and for keeping it steady, especially for live performances. This mount is perfect for holding my phone in place. It is both in my line of sight and unobtrusive to the audience.
Great product
works like a charm!
Very Useful - Very Solid
Gibraltar always makes solid products, always has, always will and I trust their gear. The phone mount has rubber pads on both sides of the clamp mechanism so it won't damage your hoop or finish. You can angle the mount to easily see your phone display and if needed you can keep you phone plugged in for power or headphones. I use mainly when I play with a click so I can also see where I'm at as well as listen. I also use it for set lists, notes I have for songs and while I'm practicing I'll use Live BPM w/o a click to make sure my meter is solid.
The only complaint I have is that I need to tighten the screw on the pivot from time to time as it will loosen occasionally. It's a quick fix as I keep a Leatherman in my stick bag at all times.
Pretty good
So using this on my bass drum hoop and the vibration loosened the iPad holder to where it tilted down and fell out and down, catching my drum pedal and cracking the glass! Guess one has to be sure to tighten down that puppy good!
I"ve had it about 3 months and when I took it out of my gig bag the holder (iPhone) separated and now there"s no spring tension anymore. Don"t know why this happened but I"m not a happy camper with it now.
Comes apart
I had this a month . The adhesive that holds the top half of the unit to the bottom failed. The springs inside slipped off their pins. Lightly used not abused. Shouldn't have fallen apart. They need to fix this.
Falls Apart
Had this for less than a month and the adhesive that holds the top and the bottom came apart, hence the tension rods that held the things that slide out to hold your phone tight came out of place rendering this phone mount to be useless because then my phone slid out of place. Would not recommend!
Unstable - Needs Reworking.
I bought this with the intention of mounting it to the kick drum to hold my phone so I can view the setlist and click using TEMPO by Frozen Ape app.
The problem is that:
1. The adjustment that holds the phone in terms of tilt, does not hold in place and any vibrations whether playing rock or jazz, it will tilt all the way down or back.
2. The frame in which it holds around the phone doesn't work with all cases. One phone has a plastic case and another one has a rubber case. Both slip out of the frame easily after playing for a song or two, causing the phone to slip down during the gigs, and it's irritating at best.
I've only been able to successfully use it a few times. But it's not enough when doing gigs every weekend.
Currently I've had to resort to using a music stand which is ridiculous to bring to gigs just to keep the phone stable.
Do not recommend.
Falls apart over time
Top and bottom separated after awhile and wire providing tension was impossible to reset. Threw it in the garbage.
