Gibraltar SC-BDPM Bass Drum Platform Reviews
If you like the sound of your bass drum but are having trouble getting the tone and feel just right, try the Gibraltar SC-BDPM bass drum riser. This riser lifts the shell of your 18" or 20" kick drum up about 2", allowing your kick drum pedal's beater to hit the head right in the center. The impact will sound more profound, and many drummers at Sweetwater prefer the subtle-yet-significant change in feel. If you like your kick drum and pedal setup and are chasing that last bit of refinement in tone and feel, you definitely need to check out the Gibraltar SC-BDPM bass drum riser.

Bass drum riser
Arise, oh bass drum! Vindicate thy name, oh bass drum! This riser works fine. If you find it moves the pedal too far from your kick, just move the pedal mount to the other (front) side of the hoop bracket! You can space it with washers for even greater flexibility, but eventually the pedal linkage will interfere with the hoop. Simple!
Common sense… Not so common
Works great on my kit, it's too far away? It's on an angel, then if you legs don't extend, I know a couple companies have extended legs that would suffice, and that's not even the issue, the issue is once you get it to work on a smaller kick drum, the sound comes alive. Don't complain, make it work plus it eats up some of the vibration on the floor as well with the pedal and the legs.
It just plain works
Using this on a 20" DW frequent flyer kit. I had an Evans lift lying around so tried that first but the drum just sits on it, no clamp, needless to say it moved all over the place and I have a fairly light foot. Anyway, the Gibralter lift works great, is simple and built tough. The only thing I would change would be to have the tightening screw use a drum key instead of a hex but that's just me being picky. In summation great product at a great price.
The Best Lift
I love this platform lift. I use it on a Yamaha Bop kit and a Mapex Mars Bop. Both has 18" kicks. With this lift I can get precise heights and correct adjustments for any kick. I high recommend this! By the way there no slippage! Thank me later.
This thing will transform your sound
This little guy improved the sound on my 18" bass drum substantially. Now I can keep the beater arm long and have it smack right in the middle of the drum.
Not Worth It
This thing does what its suppose to. It also moves your bass drum far enough away that you will need to try even harder to get your beater to the head though. It moves it almost an inch away from where it would sit normally. Great try though and at 20 whatever dollars I can't be too mad. The clamp that goes on your bass drum hoop also leaves a disgusting black mark on the hoop. Meh.
Didnt work for me
Didnt work for my kick, pedal is too far away, kick drum is cocked up at an angle. Very dissapointed
Poor design
Puts pedal too far away from head.Beater hits head at an angle. No good unfortunately.
Does not work on my 18 inch Sonor bass drum
I dont know, I fit it onto the rear, set at lowest possible setting. It jacked up the rear so high that my bass drum was tilting downward. The legs on my Sonor bass drum would need extentions fo this to work. Sorry I bought it. All I can do to corret and make it work is cut off both flanges.
