This EMG SA/SA/81 Active Pickup Set is a powerful addition to your favorite guitar when you need it to cover an extremely wide tonal territory. Finally, the sound I want
Dropped this set into a MIM strat, hss. Stupid easy, took 45 min but I also changed machine heads.
Best decision I ever made. Always loved the 81 in other guitars, not sure why I waited this long to make my favorite strat active, but its maybe the best decision I ever made. I really dont need a gate anymore, novel concept for a strat player in a rock band.
Ill also add, that I shopped the DG20 and SL20 sets too and ultimately decided that the mods on those set ups could technically be achieved later through this one and some creative wiring. The kit includes a guide for multiple combinations, super cool.

Great sounding pickups. Only issue I had was the lead wires for the were a tad short and made installing them a little harder than it should have been.

Awesome Pickups
I rebuilt a terrible Ibanez Gio with my son and wanted to see if these pickups would make the guitar worth keeping, and boy did they. They turned the $30 p.o.s into an very playable and fantastic sounding guitar. It sounds as good (and even better depending on the style) as my Carvin DC. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I wish the included harness was a little longer, I had to splice in a section. But other than that, no complaints. Tone is great in each position! And a big shout out to Ryan and the Crew at Sweetwater, best customer service in the industry!

I bought this set for my 1991 Jackson soloist lighting sky, USA made of course. Easy to use from the start had mild set back, but all Sweetwater associates were able to help me just fine.
