Camera specs are amazing but overheating is a serious issue.

I have been a long time user of lumix cameras and they were amazing and reliable. This is not the case with this camera. The advertised operational temps are between 14F - 104F with relative humidity of 10% - 80%. (Page 993 of manual).

This camera operates no where near this stated range. Shooting 4K 60p ProRes led to a thermal shutdown in 5 minutes in 85F (75% relative humidity). This was using a dummy battery and recording to SSD for optimal thermal performance. Changing the fan speed to FAST makes little difference.

Even on Sweetwater's product listing it states "Plus, its lightweight build and impressive temperature operability ensure that wherever your creative vision takes you, the S1II will perform with effortless command."

This is false.

The specs and image quality are among the best from Lumix cameras, but if you film in moderately warm environments then this camera is not for you and definitely not reliable enough for professional use.

The Lumix S1ii has incredible capabilities that is held back by very poor thermal performance. It is the perfect camera with a fatal flaw.
