This streamlined, no-frills-but-all-thrills pedal takes your tone from silky sustain to sandpaper grind with ease. And here at Sweetwater, we’re impressed with the rugged metal chasis design of the Rusty Fuzz, making it a roadworthy traveler gig after gig.

Excellent Si Fuzz Face
This is ideal for live playing. It's buffered. Built like a tank. Has the volume and midrange to stand out. Almost Tone Bender Mark II territory. Does not do Germanium clean up thing with tone knob.
The fans will not know if it's Dunlop or TC. But it's better than the Dunlop if you're playing live.
Ultimately I went with BOG fuzz because that fuzz circuit has the best mid range cut (and Jimi vibe) if you can play that style.
Really Good Fuzz
Heres the thing-this is a great great fuzz pedal and just goes to show that money isnt necessarily required to make something great. It takes a certain amount to make a pedal sturdy and high quality but weve seen so many times how that doesnt make one sound good. This thing does the "dime the fuzz, turn the volume up, and use your guitar vol knob" to clean up thing perfectly. It works great with a clean amp. Works great with a uni-vibe in front of it. Sooner or later these things will get their due.
Outstanding "broken speaker" sound!
I LOVE this pedal. If you're looking for a lo-fi small-broken-speaker fuzz sound, this pedal simply nails it. (Think Jack White or Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme.) It's hard to dial in a tone that doesn't sound awesome, and stacking dirt pedals on top of this thing creates tones that are just gnarly as hell. For that reason, I highly recommend making this the very first pedal in your gain chain -- otherwise you won't get the pedal's full effect (impedance-sensitive pedals aside). Easily my new favorite pedal, and worth every penny.
Worth well more!
I tried a couple different fuzz pedals and one for some reason I could not get to work with my rig and I did not like the tones I was getting from the other.
I saw this on sale, so I watched a few videos and bought it hoping it would be worth the price. It is way worth it! Great sounding tones. One thing I should mention, which wasn't a problem for me, but the pedal is a bit big. It's a little bigger than the Boss footprint. I have it on my top row so there were no issues with patch cables or cable to my power supply.
Buy it.
Don't spend time researching it like I did; buy it. Even if you have 15 fuzz pedals already. Even if you have to pay full price it's worth it. You'll probably be able to find it on sale like I did, and if that's so, buy 2. Give one to a friend. Or an enemy; they'll soon be your friend. This thing is awesome no matter where the fuzz is set. 2 o'clock, 8 o'clock, dimed, it doesn't matter. It sounds like awesome.
Cheapest ticket back to the mid 1960s that you'll ever find!
My first effects pedal was a Maestro Fuzz Tone that I bought in 1964. I've owned many since then. This is hands down the best $50 I have ever spent on musical gear. You want to know what fuzz tones sounded like from the 1960s through the 1970s? This is it. It's a fifty dollar ticket to travel back in time. The first hour I played this pedal I don't know if my playing or my laughing was louder. If they are out of this pedal when you read this, unless you really need a fuzz tone at that time, wait! Otherwise, buy the $30 Behringer Super Fuzz and then buy this as soon as it comes back into stock.
one of the best fuzz tones at any price, gain and tone has a wide usable range
This is a really well designed circuit that sounds awesome. I would recommend it to any experienced guitarist, fuzz enthusiast or beginner. The master volume allows it to work well with different amps, and to play at bedroom volumes, unlike a Fuzz Face which has to have the volume and fuzz turned all the way up to sound good. You can dial in the perfect amount of volume to push the amp or work with your other pedals just how you want. With the fuzz dimed and the tone at noon, this pedal nails a classic germanium type fuzz tone without the instability of germanium. When you turn up the tone, it can get a nasty and more biting silicon tone. There is a nice amount of mids and bottom end, this is not a mid-scooped fuzz like the Big Muff. You can get a variety of fuzz tones by manipulating the tone and fuzz knob, vintage and modern. This pedal works well with single coils, humbuckers and P90s, where I find most fuzzes have a preference, you can dial this pedal in with any guitar. It works well with the volume and tone knob on the guitar. Doesn't do the glassy clean up like a Fuzz Face, but it does clean up and roll back to a nice, smooth usable vintage overdrive. I've used it on both classic gain and ultra gain channels on my Marshall DSL with success.
FZ-3 reincarnated
I don't normally leave reviews but I felt obligated with this pedal. This was an impulse buy but i'm very impressed on how it sounds. It sounds really close to a boss FZ-3. It has sustain for days and is very smooth. If you want an FZ-3 but don't want to pay tons of money then I highly recommend this.
Fun
Great pedal. Many different levels of fuzz tones to explore and it works well stacking with other dirt pedals.
Almost perfect...
Great, great pedal! That tone knob is versatile but only seems to apply according to the level of fuzz. More fuzz = more tone shaping. From a muffy low to a chainsaw high, I'm sure you'll find a setting you like. It doesn't clean up very well and even at the lowest fuzz setting it's pretty hairy (in an awesome way, very dynamic and touch sensitive). My only gripe is that the volume knob does not have much headroom. Trying to match the volume to your other pedals can be difficult as increasing the volume can make the fuzz sound muddy. And one more note, the bottom end is a little lacking. An EQ pedal or boost after can help this pedal nicely.
As good as advertised sofar.
Good sounding pedal for the price. No issues and works well with other gain pedals. I own all 13 of the first batch of these style pedals from TC. Some are better than others but none are bad.
TC Rusty Fuzz
Nice even sound from subtle to growl, more suited to blues and classic rock tones than metal. Only drawback is that the fuzz is already at 25%+ with the gain all the way down...cannot completely remove the effect or bring it into the mix gradually.
Would be nice to use a very minimal fuzz, but this can't be turned off. There is also a noticeable treble cut when pedal is on, this can be modified somewhat by adjusting your vol/tone mix at the guitar or amp. Overall a good pedal...but TC should address the volume/gain issue.
tc rusty fuzz
this is 1 of the worst sounding fuzz I've ever played. save your money and spend a little more and be rewarded with so much more.
