Very Happy

By Sweetwater Customer

I am very happy with this rack. It is light, durable, and has space in the front and rear. I researched other products and found this one to be the right size, deep, and affordable. I was able to shift from a large ATA rack on wheels. The rear slots allowed me to move the fans to the back instead of the front. The mixer installed on the slant rack will not go in a separate soft case. I now have a smaller, lighter, and more manageable load. It should last a very long time.

Not a fan

By Vinnie from Midwest
Music Background: 30 years of weekend warrior cover bands

This is the first SKB case I've bought in 5 years or so and wow, I'm very disappointed. My old SKB gear was built very sturdy, very rugged. The same can't be said for this new one.
To begin with, the two styles (older version and new design) don't interlock with each other so stacking them is a big no. I understand that they want to update their products to stay competitive, but is it too much to ask for that they make the new stuff compatible with the old? (It's kind of a kick in the teeth if you own other SKB products)
The build quality is very poor and by that I mean;
- The plastic is very thin. It bends and deflects with little to no effort. I would think twice about put any type of power amp or other type of gear that weighs over 10 lbs.
- The mounting rails are pop riveted to the plastic with just four rivets per rail. No backing supports of any kind. I can easily see the rivets tearing through the thin plastic that their fastened to.
- The latches don't draw the lids in. On the old versions, when you secured the latches, the lids would be drawn down tight making a nice seal keeping dirt and moisture out of the case. ( I literally left my amp case in the back of my truck one night while it was raining. All my gear remained dry inside the case. Alcohol most likely played a role in this story.) I would not trust the new case in that situation. As a matter of fact, the rear lid, I would say, almost fits loose once the latches are drawn down. (Not good)
I could go on and on about this case but it's already become long winded. I was just taken back by the poor product SKB had put out. They use to be the industry standard when it came to road cases but apparently not anymore. Hopefully I'll be able to return this for something a little more roadworthy.

Perfect

By Humberto G. from Weeki Wachee, FL

I couldn't expect more from SKB. This box is rugged and better built than the old ones. The aluminum ring around the old racks would bend out of shape leaving you unable to close it for moving around. This one eliminates that problem and its lighter than i thought. The rack is placed further back from the front not by much but enough that if you drop it, you have a better chance of not breaking your gear.

Be Careful of Measurements

By Josh from Oregon
Music Background: Studio Eningineer

The case is decently sturdy, plastic handles complain a little when it has all six rack spaces loaded with pre's. My main gripe is with the measurement "front rack to back lid," the rackable space inside the case is almost 5 inches longer than that... Just good to know before you buy. There are definitely worse options, and if you are buying a roto rack case to save on weight, I'm sure you are already aware you will have to trade away some durability.

Lightweight, Solid, Nice Quality

By James A. from Windsor, CT
Music Background: DJ, AV Engineer for Conferences

I'm extremely happy with this rack. It's really built nice. The clips have springs so they pop out of the way when removing the covers and feel nice n sturdy. The main reason why I purchased this was to reduce weight when carrying up stairs. Mission accomplished!
