True to the Audio
I've now had my pair of KRK 5's for a number of years. They have yet to fail in accurately representing the audio I record in my VO booth. The cones are surprisingly tough and can handle the occasional "zero-line crossing pop." They easily fit on standard monitor stands either standing up or lying down.
Ecstatic
I love my new KRK monitors!! The sound is amazing and worth every dollar. Thank you Sweetwater for the fast turnaround time and also the treats that came with it as well!
Amazing sound and amazing deal
KRK 5's are definitely not the best monitors money can buy, but you can certainly make the argument. These monitors have a fantastic sound for being 5's and not 7's. They don't take up too much space, connecting them to decks makes dj'ing so much more fun, and the price for 2 is absolutely amazing. Do not skip out on this option if you are looking to improve overall production quality or connect to your decks.
First studio monitors
These were my firat pair of studio monitors so dont have a standard to judge but i had a relatively nice sound bar with a sub. These blow it away, the quality is just amazing and they get VERY loud. Would recommend for anyone looking to get an affordable set of monitors.
An excellent upgrade
They sound terrific. When located, oriented and programmed properly they match exactly what I was accustomed to hearing from my pro-grade headphones in my booth. Exactly what I was looking for. (Audiobook Narrator)
Best Monitors I ever had!
Building my small music room for recording and mixing I wanted good monitors and research said KRK's Rokits where what I wanted. Getting a great deal from SweetWater (TY Phil) only makes them better.
Fabulous Performance!
These monitors are extremely solid and have all the power I would ever need in my recording studio. As usual, Sweetwater provides the best gear for the musical part of my life.
Super solid monitors
Just got my pair of KRKs in a week or two ago, and they're exactly what I was looking for. Relatively cheap, relatively small, with fantastic but unembellished sound quality. Very clear and transparent even at low/moderate volumes, and also capable of getting very loud.
Also the customer service is among the best I've ever seen. Not sure what they're putting in the water over at Sweetwater, but the representatives I interacted with were all pleasant and knowledgeable, and I was never on hold with a robot.
Awesome Monitors
Wish I had gotten a pair of these a long time ago!
Studio monitors.
Great product. Great service. Thanks, Nich
KRK Rokit 5 G4 incredible sound quality
These KRK Rokit 5 G4 5in monitors are a very high quality sound and performance product, I highly recommend them.
Impressive for the size
I bought a pair of these to use as mobile production speakers and I have been thoroughly impressed. Most of the music I make involves a lot of sub bass and these monitors seem to have no problem producing notes as low as F and E. Additionally, the mid and high end are much more precise than I remember from using Gen2 and Gen3 Rokits. Overall this is a very great speaker for producing and in my experience they seem to give a good idea how a mix will sound in the car or on a bigger system. It's great to see this level of quality in a budget pair of speakers, especially as so many more people are getting into music making lately. I recommend the Rokit G4s often to those that ask me what monitors to buy. Coming from 10 years of producing on Yamahas I will never go back as long as KRK keeps this up. The option for the grill covers is just icing on the cake, no need to worry about pokey little fingers getting friendly with your drivers ;-)
For the money these deserve nothing short of 5 out 5
Superior
These are the best speakers I ever purchased. I have two on my system right now. Superior sound quality, so good that I woke up my neighbors.
Krk rokit 5s
Great product great frequency response, stand alone eq settings on each speaker with lcd screen. Sweetwater had excellent customer service from order to delivery, setup and troubleshooting. Recommended
Great studio monitors
I am really pleased with my rokit 5s. As a new mixing engineer who was mixing solely on cheaper headphones (that did not have flat eq) it was harder to hear the subtle, and really trust what I was hearing (especially in the low end). These rokit 5s are great! I'm running a flat eq in an untreated home office and my mixes have really taken off. These are really great monitors
They Rok It
First monitors I have ever bought and I have no complaints. I'm a satisfied customer.
KRK ROKIT Certainly do Rock It!
I absolutely LOVE these KRK ROKIT monitors. When I record and mix, I like a healthy amount of low end. You certainly don't need a sub with these monitors and I love that the ports on in the front so you can have them close to your wall. These just sound so full! I have the 5 inch in my office studio and they are more than plenty!
5" well worth the Price
These powered speakers have individual volume controls and several (5 I recall) EQ settings. I set my EQ with higher lower end as that was my preference (but will test the EQ to the room later). You will not get the response of a 15" JBL but the low end if perfect in my opinion to all frequencies. The clarity is great. My room is small and these speakers are perfect for playback as well as listening to my favorite toons.
Incredible
Incredible sound, sweet water delivery/service impeccable as always
love 'em!
Easily the best sounding speakers I've ever owned! They're perfect for my desktop setup.
First monitors ive owned
Amazing sound. Didn't expect as much as i got from them
nuts...
These monitors are a great product, for a great value. They deliver in every area, and are perfect for a home studio setting.
Omg
I'm the only one with these everybody else is Still rocking the last gen these m************ go hard in the paint
Excellent monitor
Appears to be solidly built and tight. I sounds to me to be very accurate. Excellent choice when space is an issue.
Great and even flat response
These monitors are very great. They are my fist pair of studio monitors; very easy to understand how to use and set up. I have the scarlett 2nd gen audio interface and the speakers work perfectly with the focusrite control software. Very clean and authentic feedback for recording vocals. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Especially with home-studio set ups.
P.S: The LCD feature is pretty cool too :)
Best Monitors for the Price
Excellent set of reference monitors for the price. Setup is easy and the monitors take either XLR or TRS inputs. EQ features are nice, though I"ve found I"m happiest with the flat response for my setup. The "twenty five room options" are really just five presets for low end and five presets for high end (two above and two below flat response). The included foam pads are just thin pieces of non slip foam on the bottom, would definitely recommend getting some isolation pads if you aren"t using monitor stands. Overall I"m very happy with the new gen 4 Rokits as an entry level set of monitors.
Amazing piece
Amazing no words to express, such a wonderful piece of gear that gives you a beautiful feedback on any genre even it helps a lot on mixes perfectly with real sound a lot worth for the price awesome gentlemen..
Great Set of monitors
I really enjoy these monitors. I found the app very helpful in setting them up and equalizing them. The only issue i have is a slight bit of white noise but its an acceptable amount for me and is very hard to notice.
Excellent monitork
These are great sounding monitors, and not expensive. They are my first set, and KRK did a great job with the redesign and addressing some of the issues with the older generations. These look more professional too. Love the front ports, as I need to put them closer to the wall. I will probably stick with KRK when I eventually upgrade. Good job KRK.
KRK appear to have got it right this time.
When I set up my small studio I avoided the KRK Rokits. They seemed to be a monitor that is really divisive. People either loved them or hated them. To me that's an indicator that they have 'a sound' which some people like and some people don't - suggesting they aren't actually very 'true'. A bit like Sennheiser HD650s which, while I love them, have a 'color' that you either like or don't.
The limited amount of exposure I've had to the Rokit 5 G3s since confirmed my assumption. I can see why they are favored by home EDM studios as they packed more bottom end punch than you'd expect from such a small monitor but to my ears they sounded muddy and cramped and like they were trying too hard to get bass out of a monitor that wasn't physically capable of doing it.
I picked up a pair of the new G4s to replace some faulty Presonus E5s. The G4 had just come in to my local store and with a little spruiking from the guy in the shop and I came home with a pair, expecting to be underwhelmed. In my studio they are paired with a Presonus Temblor T8 sub.
Well, as I said in the title to the review, KRK seem to have done a lot to address the past criticisms of the previous generation. These are a very nice set of 5 inch monitors. I'm not even going to say 'for the price'. They have significantly better bass extension than my Presonus E5s had, so will still keep EDM lovers happy, but sound very balanced. They are perhaps not quite as 'honest' as the E5s but don't seem to suffer from the same 'bass boost' of previous models. The KRK marketing suggests they've been working to address this issue - it stresses the redesign means they are good for mixing 'all kinds of music' which I guess is a way of saying 'not just for DJs anymore'.
I also really like what they've done with the cabinet design which while it still has the iconic yellow cones has been dialled down significantly. Gone are all the crazy angles which I really hated. These look way more like professional monitors, which fits with what is now a more grown up sound. They look good on my desk - solid, smart and serious.
I'm undecided about the built in digital EQ. It feels a bit gimmicky. It does provide some sensible EQ options however they are quite limited and feel a bit arbitrary and I'm not sure it is any more useful than a couple of pots. The KRK app that will apparently help you tune them isn't available on the app store yet so I can't comment on that and whether it will make the digital filter options on the Rokits make more sense. One thing that is obviously lacking is a true low cut/high pass for tuning with a sub. One of the filters offers -3db at 60Hz but that's it.
Small gripes though. Overall I think these are capable monitors for the small studio. You will need a sub if you want really good bass extension as they are after all only 5 inch monitors - but even without the sub they do an admirable job at the bottom end given their size, but as above, don't sound like they are 'over egging' the bass like previous models and doing a bad job of it.
Highly recommended.
Good for the price
I mean, for the price, you really can't beat these. And at lower volumes they sound really good. But when you push them to higher volumes, they just sound... I don't know how to describe it... inauthentic, maybe. Like they're trying too hard and just are pushing air without any regard to tone or subtlety. I'm sure a subwoofer would help -- there's only so much a 5" speaker can do, after all.
I’m no expert
I say, " I'm not an expert" BC I'm not
the best way in can explain these, its like having headphones on, that's how clean the sound is.
Fizzy, compressed highs
I find the highs on these monitors quite strange. Fizzy and compressed... almost a little "hi-fi". They remind me of Bose speakers... it doesn't matter how quiet or loud your hihats are, they will always sound roughly the same with that hi-fi sheen that glosses over any mixing mistakes. I guess it sounds good in a way, but definitely not my cup of tea for serious mixing. That was my experience at least. I couldn't ever feel confident with the highs in my mixes.
The mids and bass are fine I guess. Although I found the mids a little scooped, which made it hard to get vocal levels right.
When I switched to any other pair of monitors it was like sweet relief, I could finally hear the high end again without any weird stuff getting in the way!
I've still got these monitors in stored away in case my mains break, but I'm not looking forward to having to mix on these again.
That said, they are pretty good for producing. The hi-fi aspect of them makes things sound good and pleasant so you're not worried or distracted by things sounding bad, just focusing on getting the vibe right. Not fatiguing at all, but not very revealing either! So don't expect the mix to translate perfectly. And if you ARE mixing on them, make sure you're getting perspective on different devices.
