Great while it worked

By Razmik B. from Richmond, VA
Music Background: Former gigging musician - now weekend warrior

I had the original G10 and then bought the G10TII. It was fine for a year and a half of minimal use, 2-4 hours per week. I started using it regularly over the past few months for home practice and it routinely cuts out and sometimes drops altogether.

Ordered a $ item, treated as though it was a million dollar order. Received item a day earlier than projected. Even received a followup call from Dave Snow checking on my satisfaction.

I have ordered equipment over the years and have experienced 'above and beyond' help from Dave on each and every order.

I appreciate the sincere approach of Dave and the culture demonstrated at Sweetwater.

Battery won’t last through an hour gig

By Nathaniel H.
Music Background: Multi-instrumentalist, played through college and many years after (piano, trombone, guitar)

I have had this for a year and the battery has always been poor and has gotten worse. I can't count on it to last through an hour of intermittent playing. Maybe I happened to get a dud, but based on my experience I can't recommend it.

Line 6 Relay G10TII Wireless Transmitter

By Lance Y. from Sunnyvale, TX

I play violin, mandolin and guitar in an Elton John tribute band. When my transmitter recently grew legs and walked away from a stage, my Sales Engineer Josh Lively quickly advised me on a replacement transmitter - which arrived just-in-time for two major weekend gigs. Continued props to Josh and Sweetwater for providing advice and access to great gear at great prices with great customer service.

Great Battery Life!

By Tyler Y. from San Leandro, CA

I've been using the Line 6 wireless system for years, with almost no dropouts. The first transmitter that came with the system had a battery that degraded pretty quickly, so I bought this replacement. This one is SOLID. 3hr gig and the battery didn't even lose a bar.
I did say ALMOST zero dropouts. I've found very specific spots where it's like I stepped in a hole and disappeared, only to take a step and be right back. The practical range really is about 100' before it starts to cut out.

I strongly recommend you not purchase this product

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: Production pro

I have owned three of this series of wireless transmitters. The first was the recalled version. The second was a standalone version and most recently I purchased the pod go which has a transmitter of this series.

All of them have had serious problems of one sort or another. This most recent one I purchased less than a year ago. It worked as expected for several months (which is to say, I could use it around the house for non-pro purposes). However, I went out of town for a for 5 months and when I returned, the battery was dead and would not take a charge. Previous versions had problems with cutting out...sometimes within 6 feet from the receiver. The battery quickly becomes inadequate for a long session. Etc.

This is not a serious product. This is especially not a professional product. Avoid it.

Replacement Transmitter (GT10TII) Works Well

By Stephen R. from KAILUA KONA, HI

Hadn't used my GT10 for several years and the Lithium Ion would not charge so decided to purchase a new transmitter (less than 1/2 the cost of a new GT10S system). No issues, holds charge for over 4 hours and works with the older receiver model.

Replacement Line 6 Relay still disconnects intermittently - Poor Quality

By TW from St Louis, Missouri
Music Background: Guitar student

I'm writing a second review since I received a replacement unit when my Line 6 Relay G10 started cutting out/disconnecting after 3 weeks of use. I was hoping to have good news but that isn't the case.

Sweetwater and my rep Patrick were excellent about replacing the first unit. This is not a complaint about the retailer. I've been using my replacement unit for less than two weeks and it started cutting out mid-song just like the last one did. Net….I have now tried two of these units and they both started failing in under 30 days. This one is in the early stages of failure…..my last one would cut in and out mid-song and refuse to connect altogether at times. For over one hundred dollars, I would expect this to last longer than 30 days.

I am using the Line 6 with a new Yamaha THR30 amplifier. The firmware for the amp and the Line 6 Relay is updated with the latest versions. I have plenty of battery life on the Relay and I am less than 4 feet away, so it's not a range issue. There is no reason for this to start failing other than poor quality.

My advice….look for another wireless product. This is not worth the money and doesn't hold up. Line 6 and Yamaha should be embarrassed to put out such an inferior product. I am going back to an instrument cable…..and I'll probably be eating the $110 loss since I don't have the original packaging.

Doesn’t stay connected - Cuts out repeatedly - Difficult and sometimes impossible to reconnect

By Todd W. from CHESTERFIELD, MO
Music Background: Beginner / Student guitarist

I really wanted to like this device. I'm using it with a Yamaha THR30ii amplifier which is designed for the Line 6 wireless unit. I've had it for 15 days. I've updated to the latest software too, so this is apparently the best it gets. It cuts out in the middle of playing and I have difficulty getting it to connect again. This is from a distance of 5' away from the amp too. Basically, I consider it an expensive piece of junk. I'd expect better from Line 6/Yamaha. Looks like I'm going back to an instrument cable. I threw away the box or else I'd return it.

No more cables...

By Sweetwater Customer

I've had the G10S for several years. It's truly enabled me to cut the cord to my pedalboard, roam the audience, and do more effective sound checks without an engineer. I cannot tell the difference in sound between the wireless and a 20' cable.
It has never had a problem cutting out or picking up radio Nairobi.
Over the years, the transmitter has lost it's ability to go for a whole show without recharging, which was the point in picking up this transmitter. This is a much improved battery, with a LOT longer life than the original G10S transmitter. Four hour rehearsals don't even deplete it.
Why would you still trip over a guitar cable?

Battery Issues

By John B. from Elk Grove, CA

My second one just died, usually last about a year, then the battery goes south. IMO a better design would be a replaceable battery.
It just isn't worth sending it in for "repair".
When it works it's OK, if you want wireless buy one that you can replace the batteries yourself like the Line 6 Relay G30.

It works but…

By Sweetwater Customer

When the Relay G10 came out YEARS ago I purchased it. Since this I've had transmitter issues so I bought this replacement transmitter. It works, but whenever I plug it into the receiver, it flashes red as if it's dead (even though it isn't) for 2-5 mins. Not sure why it does that, but aside from that, it works flawlessly.

getting more disappointed

By Harvi K. from Kirksville, MO

I wrote a 2.5 star review but can't seem to find a way to edit it. After updating the firmware, this thing seems even worse. The charge doesnt seem to last as the update says it improves the charge. And Now I get intermittent usage, it will be solid green in the amp I plug it into my main guitar and nothing. I try a few more times nothing. Plug it back into the amp it blinks red, then after 10 minutes blinks green a minute later solid green. Plug it back into my main, nothing. Plug it into another guitar it works fine, then back the previous guitar it works.

I would never rely on this thing for stage work. ALSO how Line 6 offers all their software is ridiculous. All the drop downs and discontinued software for items they still sell, it's a mess trying to find anything, plus a complete lack of any description/directions etc

Better off using the customer forums to find solutions than trying to figure it via line 6. HEY line 6, if you ever read reviews on here, why dont you make a page per specific items like a GT10II and then list all the related software for just that item on that page rather than having a software download page with 3 drop down options for every item you sell. It doesnt even list it as GT10II but lists it as RELAY or TRANSMITTER.

My reviews of this and line 6 have nothing to do with sweetwater, they are great!

Incredibly unreliable

By Dean from Marietta, GA

I purchased this to use with the Yamaha THR30II. Since I purchased it, it has been the least reliable tool I have. It is incredibly how poorly made this product is. I can fully charge it, remove it from the charger, leave it sitting for a few hours, and it is completely drained again, requiring a recharge even though it wasn't turned on or plugged in anywhere. Secondly, the connection to the THR30II is abysmal. Constant static-y clicks happen that don't happen with a regular cable. However, I'd be ok if that was the only problem. The biggest problem is frequent cut-outs in sound. It will be fully charged (green light) and when I plug it in, it immediately goes to an orange light, and I'll get sound for less than a second, then it turns off. I unplug it, plug it back into the receiver to let it sync, plug it back into my guitar, same thing. I have to plug it back into the receiver and let it recharge to 100%, which oddly takes an hour to happen, even though it claimed it was fully charged beforehand. Then when I plug it in, it will work finally. After playing with it for maybe 15 minutes, it seems to think it only has less than 30 minutes of charge. I've been dealing with these problems for a while and finally got fed up enough to write a review about it. I was dumb and forgot to register this product when I bought it, so Line 6 won't provide any support for it... So, this was wasted money.

Will not fit Ibanez S series guitars.

By Sweetwater Customer

I just got this receiver, and I love it. But I think it's important to know if you were using an Ibanez Saber series guitar, this device might not fit your guitar. It works with every other guitar, and I have, and outside of that one issue, I have no complaints.

OK but

By Harvi K. from Kirksville, MO

It seems ok once it charges fully, although I've heard some scratchy noise from time to time on certain notes,,,, BUT you have to used the amp to charge it and the amp has to be on for hours to charge.

While I understand the original G10 used a USB cable to charge, I assume it was all discontinued because the older batteries had fire issues,

whats to stop these new ones from having the same fire issue being plugged into the amp for hours?

If there is no longer any fire issue, Why is there no USB charge option for the g10Tii? unless they have the same issue with fire?

Who wants to leave their amp on for this for 3 hours at a time?

The fat body of the transmitter won't fit in my Ibanez JIVA guitar

By Rand C. from Charleston, SC

I was told this transmitter would fit in my Ibanez JIVA10 guitar, which I was considering. I ended up buying the guitar on Sweetwater's Gear Exchange, and found out that I can't use wireless with it. It's too fat to insert in far enough. I purchased the G10TII to link to a Yamaha THR30 II amp, and I can use it with my Yamaha silent practice guitar, but it's disappointing to find out that my first true electric won't work with it. I'm sure an extension would allow it, but it might be awkward sticking out the guitar face........

By Sweetwater Customer

I'm not sure this would work for everybody, but I am using it to connect a Guitar to the related Yamaha THR 30 II, which is made to automatically pair with it. Once I figured out the amp, this transmitter is a no-brainer. I haven't tested in a distance yet I'm really happy with it.

Review Update

By Keith C. from va

There is one problem with {no interference} i posted on my review of this device. With any electrical device like computer or amp is around and you touch it you will hear interference coming from the amp.

I noticed this yesterday as i had my computer setting next to me on a table stand. I went to click to change something on it and i could hear the high pitch squeal. As soon as i took my hand off the computers touch pad it stopped.

I did the same thing with the amp just to see if it was a fluke and sure enough when my finger touched the amp the high pitch squeal came out. Just unplugging the transmitter from guitar when going to mess with any electronic device will solve the problem. Hope this helps for any of you running into this problem.

April 13, 2023

cable free

By Keith C. from va

Love using this completely free from the cable. Charges off my spider V the only down side to this is without the receiver base the amp has to be plugged in all the time to charge. I have only been using this for two days so far but worth every penny. I really wish i had purchased the transmitter and base just to have a charging base but still serves the purpose.

I have been up to 65 feet away from amp with no problem. No interference problems so far. The unit goes into stand by after a few minutes of no use and i have to unplug and plug back in but that is not a deal breaker. This is worth every penny and your cable free.

Great upgrade from G10S

By Steve M. from Birmingham, AL
Music Background: Lifelong guitar hobbyist

I've happily been using a G10S Relay for a few years, but I broke the original transmitter due to some carelessness on my part. Ordered this as a replacement and am happy that it supports my guitars with active pickups without the use of an adaptor. The original model required the adaptor for these types of guitars, but the G10TII works with all my guitars by itself.

Nice but ........

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: life time musician, guitar teacher.

Although the product works great I had to take a 2 stars away because it is not repairable. You must purchase a new one when the battery dies. The battery is NOT user replaceable. So be prepared to spend over $ ever few years as the battery dies.
Just another way to make money from the consumer. Most musicians can't afford to do this to support a company over and over again.

Great wireless transmitter

By David B. from New Hampshire, USA
Music Background: Professional musician, private music lesson teacher, band instrument repair technician, concert band conductor.

This little transmitter is a great add-on to use with Line 6 amps or any amp, such as the Yamaha THRii-wireless series of amps which has the receiver built into them. It's easy to charge (just plug it into the input jack on whichever amp you have that is designed to work with this and leave it there with the amp's power turned on until it's charged) and it's also easy to pair with different amps (just plug it into the input jack on the amp and leave it there for 15 seconds or so and it's paired). This holds its charge for a long time. The sound is crystal clear -- this transmitter (and the amp's built-in receiver) does no color the sound in any way. It's designed for use with guitars but it works excellently with any instrument's output, including keyboards and electronic instruments such as the Roland Aerophone series.

Great Warranty Support on the Line 6 Relay G10TII Wireless Transmitter

By John from Michigan
Music Background: Have played Acoustic and Electric for 4 years

I bought a new Yamaha THR30 II Wireless - 30-watt Modeling Combo Amp that paired with the Line 6 Relay G10TII Wireless Transmitter so I ordered the transmitter. It's wireless and plugs into your guitar so it eliminates a cord from your guitar to the amp. It worked good for a short time but then it cut out and I had to plug it back into the amp to get it to work again. Sweetwater sent me another transmitter and I sent the old one back with a prepaid label.

This one works really great. I've had no issues. I pairs with the THR30 and also charges when plugged into the jack for the guitar cord on the amp. I recommend this Line 6 wireless transmitter. I have a different Line 6 wireless transmitter and had had no issues with that one either.

A pain in the ...

By knull9
Music Background: hobby player

I have the first "faulty" G10 version which needed to be fixed with new software, but since this new version seems very similar, I'll criticize it anyway. My main criticism is that it is just a hassle to use.

I use this with a Yamaha THRII. If you leave it in the charger for a few days, the thing discharges and it doesn't work when you want to use it, you have to charge it again. Same if you leave it in the guitar.

Some guitars don't engage the plug-in pin switch and therefor don't work with it. You need an adapter for those. If you don't know that, it takes time and nerves figuring that out.

All this just adds complexity to playing guitar, and since 99% of us don't have a lot of time to play anyway, it the G10 is just a time and money waster. Yes, when it works it is great, but I wasted at least 3 hours fiddling with that thing, I could have played guitar instead.

Amazing! With Thr30ii

By Arun S. from Coral Springs, FL

This is absolutely great gadget….especially with Yamaha Thr30ii guitar amplifier. It's actually made for it. Charges right out of the input Jack and syncs up the Bluetooth channel by just plugging it in to the amp.

It has a great range. Doesn't need to be in the line of sight. Latency can't even be felt. Beautiful quality of sound.

batteries seem to fail

By William S. from The Dalles, OR

I bought this extra G10Tii transmitter for the Relay G10S charger/receiver.. (this is the original one, since, there has been an upgrade to the G10Sii charger/receiver.. It seems the G10Tii transmitter (guitar plug transmitter) was damaged by the original G10S charger/receiver.. now I replaced the G10S for the G10Sii (no marking on the charger/receiver G10Sii it still says G10S).. I suspect that you cannot use a G10Tii battery on a G10S (original) charger/reveiver as that extra battery has now failed..

I received a new GS10ii with an accompanying G10Tii battery.. this one charges fine, and haven't seen an issue with it, but the defective G10Tii battery must be replaced now..

Warning on 2 things.. Do not use the new battery with the older unit, it is unclear that it may be the culprit for destroying it.
Other warning (advisory). If you have more than one of these G10Tii batteries (and true of the older version batteries).. If you plan to swap out one battery for another, even if the secondary battery is charged, you MUST replug it into the charger/receiver to set the broadcast/receiver channel so the charger/receiver can hear it.. The only other way to use the secondary battery is to change the channel setting on the receiver, the older G10S didn't always work.. but best to plug the new one in the charger/receiver until the green light on the battery goes from blinking green to steady green, then the receiver and transmitter are synced up on the same channel.

All in all, I have had many Line6 products.. when they work they are great, but I've had the pod fail on me and now this wireless is failing and requires far more attention away from my work as it should.. and like many, really don't like multiple cables across the studio floor..

Best of Luck..

I'll use it but...

By Thresher from FL

What I enjoyed about the G10TII was not having to use the angle adapter anymore. I'm not convinced on the battery life yet. It seemed to drop just as fast as my original. It does however show the amount of charge properly. I did notice my level of connection to the receiver was different. I'll have to monitor placement of other wireless devices going forward to make a better assessment as to why it was slightly less. The thing I dislike most is it doesn't indicate when it's finished charging. It just keeps flashing and never goes to a solid light like my old G10 did.

LOVE this thing. I got it to pair with my Yamaha THR10 II Wireless Amp and it works perfectly. There is absolutely no latency or delay in the signal and no compromise in sound or tone. It works every bit as well as a cord but of course is infinitely more convenient. But zero problems with the Relay 6 G10TII. The one thing that kind of bugs me is that if you stop playing your guitar for a few minutes the relay goes to sleep and you have to plug it back into the amp jack (which on the Yamaha amp charges the relay) for about 5 seconds to wake it back up. But I hardly ever have to deal with that. Bottom line is I love it and it is far superior to the competition for the same price.

G10TII... WHAT..!!!

By ThrashTim from So-OK

The original G10T has been my goto work hoarse for practicing playing and whatnot when I use my G10S Receiver or my Yamaha THR10II. They just work and sync well with not dropped signal. The New G10TII works as good as the original. But it seems to have much better battery life and less dropped signal. My original G10T now serves as my backup or when I want to take my THR10II when I travel. They just seem to work without signal failure.

6+ hours confirmed

By Ben from Warsaw, IN

I have had the G10T for quite a while but broke it when I whacked it against a keyboard stand by accident. Same month I do that, Line 6 release a new version of this with a silver label and 1 more hour of claimed use. Decided to use a cable and save my money, but that was only fine until that cable got wrapped up on my stand or the pedalboard or...it just gets in the way. Got an email about a demo available and grabbed it immediately:D Got it yesterday, plugged it in, and after playing for 10-15 minutes, I completely forgot it wasn't a cable. Then I wondered if it sounds better than the cable. I can't tell. Trying to figure out why someone returned this, I plugged it into a headphone jack on my interface and played music through it. Just over 6 hours in, it starts to flash red. Thats the "you have 30 min left" signal, which I didn't care to test specifically but it did stay on for 10 more minutes when I pulled it and tossed it back on the charger. Not sure on charge time but when I checked it 2 hours later, it was full. So, this long winded review is to say it does what it claims, charge time is good, and the sound quality is going to take some rather special ears to discern.
