Utilizing a CMOS circuit the Red Llama gives you transparent and responsive tube-like dynamics and tone. Dial in just a little drive for open chording and punchy clean tones. Or you can crank the drive for huge lead tones and tight, low-end heavy rhythms. The simple 2-knob layout makes the Red Llama easy to use. great pedal!
Huge volume boost. The higher volume/lower drive settings are pretty impressive. You can still hear your chords ring out but its thick. The pedal sounds amazing with both knobs maxed out and use your guitar's volume knob. The pedal housing looks like a military spec science lab top secret container: super sturdy, clinical precision, sharp. The LED can be seen from a mile away:) Just buy it if you are curious and set both knobs at noon to begin.
Smooth
The new Red Llama is a little different than the original. It is still quite impressive, but not as sweet as its predecessor. Having said that, it is one of the few pedals that does not color the tone of your guitar when turned on. It sounds just like your guitar did before, only now it is distorted. This pedal is a fairly low gain device. I run the drive between 70% and 90%. It's great for blues and classic rock. The overdrive is remarkably smooth and clear. The metal guys would want something nastier.
