Exceptional Quality

By Jaeden K.
Music Background: Solo Artist/One Man Band

I bought this guitar to extend my writing and creativity range. As of this point, I use primarily this guitar when writing and recording new music. It handles clean tones very well, especially in the 2nd position. A very warm and colorful sound from these pickups. I use the push/pull split quite often, as I use this guitar to record bass as well, and pitch shift the DI track down an octave. The fanned frets make for a much more comfortable playing experience, especially with the skewed scale length. It feels great to hold and play live. In my experience, it doesn't nose dive an awful lot like so many guitars do. The pickups are absolutely killer, and can boast a crushing distorted tone as well. I HIGHLY recommend re-stringing to a heavier gauge. I play primarily in open A (ADADGBE) and the heavier set was necessary to eliminate extra string noise and keep string tension. Overall a great guitar, and has surely pushed my musical chops to the next level.

NOTE: If this is your first 7-string, don't be too nervous! I'm self taught for about 8 years, and the extra string became natural after about 2 weeks of playing it.

First Multiscale and First Schecter

By Alan B. from Walhalla, SC

I started writing material in drop A earlier this year and I wanted a guitar that would handle that low A better. So, I went searching for my first multiscale guitar. I gave this one a shot, and I'm so glad I did. It was my first Schecter as well. The quality control is out of this world. Smoothest fretboard I've ever felt. The rest of the guitar is on point too. The pickups in particular are really good. I was wary of them because of the blade design, and because the dimensions of them make it impossible to swap them out with aftermarket offerings. But they sound way above average. The only thing I don't love about this guitar is the headstock. It's rather large and unwieldy, the tuning pegs are very close together. But the overall balance of the guitar is perfect. It hangs with zero neck dive and it absolutely shreds. I've since given this guitar to my bandmate, and I use my Strandberg now as my main, but I miss the Reaper! Schecter fan for life now.

Good overall BUT

By Joe from Utah

I want to love this guitar but the pickups are so muddy and lifeless. I spent some time messing with the EQ and it's helped a lot, but that's the only thing preventing me from absolutely loving it. It looks and feels great to play. I'd prefer locking tuners but it's not a big deal at this price point. Another quirk is that the pickups are an odd shape and size, so you can't just buy new pickups without there being some wonky issue. Otherwise it's a nice playing 7 string multiscale at this price point.

Can Do It All

By Christian

Killer guitar that has the ability to play all styles including heavy djent-style and metalcore, all the way to gospel and worship through cleaner tones.

Sick guitar

By Thomas S. from Monroeville, OH

This was my first 7 string so it took a minute to get acquainted with it but it is an amazing guitar. The strings that came with it were a bit too thick but once i threw some ernie ball cobalt regular slinkys on there it sounded and played amazingly. Very solid construction and the fanned frets took zero adjustment. They felt perfecly natural from the start. Love the looks and the satin finish as well. Best 7 sting I've ever played. Shout out to sweetwater and my sales engineer Ben Robinson for the amazing customer service!

Guitar played excellent right out of the box. Multiscale took little to no time to get acquainted too. Great looking craftsmanship as well! Thank you Ryan from Sweetwater!

Impressive

By Andrew R. from Gilbert, AZ

This guitar has the craftsmanship of a much more expensive guitar. It sounds great, and the multiscale and fanned frets are easy to adjust to and a lot of fun to play.

If you're looking for a 7 string, you would be hard-pressed to find a higher quality instrument at this price.
