Godin Radium Electric Guitar - Winchester Brown RN Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Basswood Body, Maple Neck, Rosewood Fingerboard, 1 Single-coil Pickup, and 2 Humbucking Pickups - Winchester Brown

The Godin Radium strikes the perfect balance between two of Godin’s most beloved models — the Stadium and the Radiator. Even the name Radium is a combination of the two names. Its single-cut basswood body is loaded with three custom Godin pickups in an HSH configuration. The humbuckers create thick, punchy tones while the Cajun single-coil adds a bright spank to the overall sound. It has a set maple neck and a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard that plays effortlessly. If you’re torn between the Stadium and the Radiator, why not get the best of both worlds? Choose the Radium. You’ll be happy you did.

Buttery and Versatile Guitar

By ARW from Ohio on March 1, 2023 Music Background: Playing guitar for 21 years

This guitar is a joy to play. It has such a fat/phat neck that I've named mine Hank Hill. It feels perfect in my hands, and I love the satin finish. It feels almost like playing on the bare wood.

You can get three guitars' sounds in one with this guitar. The humbuckers each have a soulful, deep, vintage-like Gibsony sound. When coil split:

1. Truly Tele-like. Plenty of twang.
2. Just like Strat position 2.
3. Like a Tele neck position, but clearer.
4. Just like Strat position 4.
5. Very dark, yet not muddy. Perfect for jazz with the tone rolled off.

The only ding I would give this guitar is due to the bridge likely being made of nickel, as I have a nickel allergy. I just replaced it with a brass wraparound bridge, and now it REALLY has a Tele-like soul.

Godin is an under-rated, under-appreciated, beast of a guitar maker

By jmabe from FL on February 7, 2023 Music Background: Enthusiast

Got this one recently, my 4th Godin (Made in Canada). None of them including this one have disappointed me in anyway. All of them rival Japanese and USA quality in my opinion. Plays like butter, sounds as good as my guitars that are $1800 to $2500. Looks better in hand. You need this guitar if you appreciate quality at a price that won't grab your wife's (or Husband's) attention. (hopefully)

Incredibly versatile guitar

By Brian Hogan from Philadelphia, PA on November 25, 2022

I bought a Godin hollowbody and I really liked it, and I wanted another Godin. I mostly play LP-style guitars, and I wanted something a little bit different, that wasn't too expensive. I ended up getting a Godin Radium, and I'm very glad that I did. It's got fantastic single-coil and Tele tones, and coil-splitting that works. It even has LP tones, in addition to its other sounds. I didn't expect this guitar to have so many usable voices. Takes gain well, too. The guitar was put together perfectly, no QC issues to speak of, set up to play out of the box. Looks fantastic, incredibly comfortable to play. This Godin Radium makes me want to buy another Godin guitar. Thanks as always to my Sales Engineer, Ian!

What a great-sounding guitar

By Blues Dog Bob from Boston on February 22, 2022 Music Background: Extensive - horn bands, Berklee graduates, down & dirty blues bands in places where you need a flame thrower to get back to your car, etc.

I've been playing a Les Paul Elegant for 19 years. I love it, but there are additional tone colors that I wanted. This guitar is quite remarkable: the humbucking settings sound very much like my LP, and the single coil sounds are totally authentic. It's not just that it's versatile, but that it sounds GREAT in each of those genres. And the sustain is a real surprise - it just lasts and lasts. I used it with the band last night and it was smoking. And finally, it looks WAY better in the wood than in the pictures. For what it's worth, I never thought I'd buy a guitar online that I hadn't played first. But I rolled the dice, and Sweetwater did a first-rate job of packaging and delivering a well-set-up instrument.

It’s fantastic!

This Godin is outstanding. I have an American Pro II telecaster, and a G&L S-500 Fullerton (US custom build), as well as a parts caster Strat. This guitar has a build quality on par with those guitars.

Great sustain, lots of pickup configuration options, and a classic look make this thing a long term keeper. I'd say if I could only keep one my guitars it would be this one.

The fret work and neck are perfect. I actually love the blocky neck joint some complain about. The heel of my hand fits perfectly and let's me access higher notes with ease.

The finish is beautiful. Prices recently went up on all guitars, but even at the new price point this one is a steal.

Great value

By Neal on January 14, 2022

I own one. Bought it from sweetwater summer 2021. You get a great value out of these guitars. North American guitar with rosewood board at this price point is unique. I play this guitar frequently, often unplugged because I'm a dad with young kids. The resonance is incredible. Such a solid guitar. Many pros will tell you that you can tell a great electric guitar by how it rings when it's unplugged. This thing sings unplugged. Headstock vibrating like crazy. Highly recommend.

Best guitar I’ve ever owned.

By AA from Georgia on August 21, 2021

This is the most amazing guitar I have ever owned. Plays great, feels amazing! Bought a demo of this guitar a few months ago with just a small scratch on the headstock, the rest of the guitar looked brand new. Thank you to Nick for amazing customer service. Thank you Sweetwater!
