Primacoustic RX5 Monitor Isolation Pad 7.5 x 9.5 inch (Flat) Reviews

7.5" x 9.5" Flat Monitor Isolation Pad with Multi-layered, Anti-recoil Design (ea)

The Primacoustic RX5 Recoil Stabilizer flat monitor pad eliminates resonant coupling from the nearfield speaker to the stand, giving you the most accurate sound possible from your monitor. The RX5 also provides a stable base for your monitor, with a non-slip neoprene top surface and multi-layer, multi-material construction. With the added mass of a laser-cut steel plate sandwiched by isolation foam, plus a high-density urethane foam base, the anti-recoil design of the RX5 is both stable and amazingly effective.

Worth the money

These isolation pads really do enhance the sound of my Neumann monitors. Even in my studio which is not acoustically treated, the difference is audible. I am no expert by any measure, but I do recommend them.

Phenomenal!

Based on reviews from professionals and semi professionals alike, I have long since been wanting to add these to my studio arsenal. After putting these to use in my studio, my decision to switch has proven more than sound, it has me wondering why I didn't switch sooner.

I'm formerly a MoPad user (which are not at all a bad product, especially for their price range) - but I am completely blown away by this product. The Recoil Stabilizers have enabled me to mix much more easily and effectively than I have prior to utilizing them. Frequency response from my monitors is now exceptionally tight and defined across the spectrum, imaging is MICRO-pinpoint in accuracy, transients are as sharp (or as dull) as I want them to be - in short, I'm able to really hone in on my mixes without having to THINK about honing in, the truth of my mixes are just THERE, enabling me to make good decisions without occasionally having to guess. I'd recommend this product highly to any engineer, regardless of environment or experience.

I also want to take a moment and thank my sales rep, Chris Lewis, for always providing the best level of customer service I have ever had from any gear retailer - he's truly amazing, transparent as can be and is the main reason why Sweetwater is my choice for studio gear. Thanks, Chris!!

These are awesome!

They work. Read any of the reviews--they almost all start out with "I was skeptical...but..." And it's so true. When I got these home, I set up one on the left and kept my normal "foam type" monitor pad under my right monitor. Already the left sounded clearer and like it had "more low end." It's not really "more" low end it's just MUCH more detailed, you know? Set them both up and ran through my reference mixes that I use to set up monitoring systems when I freelance. Sounded amazing. Tight, clear, detailed bass and low-midrange response (which in turn affects the clarity of the whole mix...highs jump out, things seem more obvious, which helps you EQ/compress things better. SERIOUSLY worth it. Make the investment today!

Service is EVERYTHING

I'd recently reviewed this product and was not TOO happy with the fact that one unit of the pair I bought had an issue with the glue attaching the foam 'underbelly' to the top platform...it had separated. Although the guys at Sweetwater knew this from an earlier phone call, I had chosen not to send this faulty unit back to them, as I needed to work with it immediately. But they DID offer! So a few weeks later, the foam has separated even more...bummer. So I submitted that older review - not to discredit Sweetwater, as this was obviously a one-off Primacoustic issue. So I just got off the phone with my rep at Sweetwater, Ryan...and a replacement is one the way...they will just NOT accept faulty gear with an unhappy customer. I have a lot of respect and appreciation for that...with all the online stores at the same prices, THIS is what will keep me buying from Sweetwater. Thanks, guys - thanks, Ryan !

just a little miffed...

By George Petit from New York City on December 1, 2011 Music Background: Recording engineer, Producer, Musician

I have owned other size Recoil Stabilizers over the years...and these are the same design...only when they arrived and I installed, I noted that one of them had the lower foam separated JUST A TAD at the back...I needed to work with them immediately, so I did not return them...and should have. The foam is now separating more...and although it does not effect the function of the unit, it is annoying.
