“A Must Have For Every Dummer!”

By LindsayM on March 19, 2024

Sweetwater delivered this right away and I was happy! Easy to use and very portable too! I liked the case it comes with too! I highly recommend it!

Works as expected

By Zac from Illinois on February 21, 2024 Music Background: Lifelong amateur musician

This has everything you'd expect out of a metronome: loud enough, range of settings, easy to control, etc. Best parts of this are that it can mount to a stand and that it has headphone jacks. There are a lot of features on here that probably won't get used, but I am sure they are useful for some users. I bought this for my daughter's drumset and she said it works so much better than the metronome app on her phone or the mechanical metronome she can't hear of the drums.

Tama RW200 rhythm watch

I am very happy with my product.I like the new features.brighter leds, easy to program, the buttons on the advance programming are easy to use.you can program 30 songs into the memory and the memories stay. Also found a power supply, offered by Sweetwater, that I love,no more batteries. The tap feature has been moved to the top, which frees up the other buttons. This is the most reliable click track I've found.Had the old one for about 6 yrs, finally wire broke on battery terminal. So glad I purchased the new one.I can program 30 sounds in it,which saves dead air on stage.Been usin it bout 3 wks and love it.Drummers I would strongly suggest.

Tama Rhythm Watch is the best and only choice

By David Fisher from Nashville,Tn. on August 3, 2020 Music Background: 51 years of playing, teaching, studying and practicing 50+ hours a week.

Ive Been using the Tama Rhythm Watch with my music student for over a decade to train the students with scales,Arpeggio's and sub-divisions. As well as for playing songs. It's the best choice since the Yamaha Clickstation. I have been teaching professionally and full time since 1978.

Tama RW200 Rhythm Watch

By Pete from Austin, Texas on November 4, 2018

Works great! It's the best metronome I have used. It's loud enough and the flashing light is bright enough.
I recommend getting the bracket that is made for it so you can put in a good spot to reach it and see it. It is helping my practice considerably.

Awesome product

By Sweetwater Customer on September 2, 2018

This is a fantastic metronome. It's user friendly with a myriad of functions. You can easily subdivide the click to any number of combinations. There are two different click sounds. The tempo is easy to adjust with the spin wheel. You can program different clicks and navigate them easily. The metronome is loud enough to be heard when I'm playing even with earplugs in. There's also a headphone jack as well if you're playing live. Even without tempos programmed, it would be easy enough to switch between songs.

Great product

The Tama Rythum watch is the perfect tool for all drummers and bands to keep the beat on time and everyone happy. I should have gotten one a few years ago...what a tool for for keeping everyone in time.

Amazing Metronome!

Seriously, only Tama could top the greatest metronome out there, with The new Rhythm Watch. Outstanding and perfect for the professional drummer. And Sweetwater, as always, was fast, reliable, and reasonably priced.

Tama RW200 "A GREAT CHOICE !"

By ERIC L JONES from Maryland on September 4, 2015 Music Background: Full Time Professional Drum & Percussion Artist

Here's the skinny...

Tama Rhythm Watch RW200 and Rhythm Watch Holder RWH 10(Mounting Bracket)

First I'd like to touch on the obvious...MASSIVE...Improvements for the drummer. The NEW improved mounting bracket (Rhythm Watch Holder RWH 10) for the unit is fantastic, and well thought out. Simple in design, but well thought out. The RWH 10 is far superior to the method of mounting previously. With the change in the mounting, the support of the unit is no longer a concern. I had created a specially modified mount and adapter for my RW 100 and it still seemed like unit was hanging out in the wind. It felt like it as well when you had to trigger any buttons on the RW100. However with new bracket the support bar that extends under the unit takes all the strain off of the back of the units housing and provides a very solid feel when triggering any of the features on the unit. And since RWH 10 will work with the older units in Tama's RW line it makes for a great retro-fit on the older models.

Features on the RW 200 have been greatly improved upon over all. I want to point out some main features in particular that I find extremely helpful in live playing situations. The separation of the Start / Tempo functions was a great improvement. The Start button now sits large at the bottom of the unit, and only starts and stops the metronome. No more second function button to press to trigger a Tap in. This made for some interesting live play situations on the older models. Especially since you had to change function again once you had the tempo, to start the tempo you just tapped in. The Tap in button sits at the top left of the unit near the mounting point to the bracket. This is an especially welcomed change since its placement provides the most stability. This is of great importance given that you want to establish the tempo you wanted on the first tap in attempt. Nothing worse in the live play scenario than needing to carry out a one handed, tap in, a second or third time, simply because of the instability in mounting. These issues are solved with the new bracket (RWH 10) and the new RW 200's functionality improvements. With the mention of the separation of the Start and Tap function buttons, it is especially worth noting the precision touch of the the buttons on the RW 200. Not only do they trigger precisely when depressed, but have an extremely solid feel as well. This goes for not only the buttons, but the rotating nobs as well. Though the unit may be slightly similar in appearance, the design and electronics in the RW 200 are very much state of the art.

The storage of preset tempos to be used for a live play situation has been greatly expanded as well. You can now store 30 preset tempos on the RW 200. This is a great improvement over the older units. I used to have to program my older(RW 100) unit with tempos I needed for the next set during the break between sets since its storage capacity was so limited. Not anymore.

When triggering tempos you have two options. A Practice mode and Stage mode. In Practice mode the tempo selected stays audible with the lights flashing on the unit. In the Stage mode the unit will silence the audible click after 8 bars and then hold in a standby status. You can press the Start / Stop button as many times as needed, and it will trigger in 8 bar of metronome segments. The Stage mode can be especially useful if a "click in" is all that is needed. This feature combined with the Line level and Headphone output jack, the click can then be sent to the other members of the band without and audience being aware. This makes for a much cleaner audible and visible presentation from the stage.

Though these are just a few of the numerous great features the RW 200 offers. These were some of the most valuable improvements over the older models in my harsh evaluation from a working drummers operating perspective.

effective metronome at a decent price

By Ken Reed Davis on January 29, 2024

A very nice portable unit that uses a 9 volt battery. I use for a little over an hour every day so the battery lasts about 3 weeks. I contacted Sweetwater and ordered an AC adapter for $. Works great!

Keep your band members on time .

By Michael Salamone from Lackawanna, NY on July 14, 2019 Music Background: Working pro drummer / retired teacher of percussion

I finally broke down and purchased this puppy. I will stick with my 4.5 star rating because, personally, I would like to see this have an upgrade addition of a "simcard" or "flash drive" so one can program and save more than 30 songs. My band has more than 30 songs ( sometimes 20 in one set depending on time ) performed during a regular club date.
With that out of the way, here's my positives. One stage, having the songs in the right tempo that it was initially recorded at and made popular, is a blessing. Start the tempo of any song and keep the whole band on your beat relative to where you "counted" them in. When I set this up on the drum set I was using for a huge outdoor concert, my bassist asked me if I use that all the time. My reply was, I will now! His answer to that was, I need to tell my drummer 'cause he need this. Well, it will count the song in at the right tempo, but if he has problems staying steady this won't help that unless he practices with it on his own. I'm a big supporter of staying on time relative to the original song tempo. In my main band, we use a laptop with tracks and I have the "click" tempo of the song in my right ear keeping me and the whole band steady and on tempo. No more speeding up and slowing down or starting a song twice the tempo ( plus or minus ) that it was originally made famous in ... especially dance tunes.
All in all .. a very, very useful device to have on and off stage as well at rehearsals. Here's a hint that will make any drummer argue the tempo at the next rehearsal or even on stage. While at rehearsals, I ask where and what tempo the singer or guitarist as well as others like to perform the song. When we all come to an agreement, I write the tempo down and later on program it in. The next time we are together, if a discrepancy by anyone comes up that the "tempo" that was "agreed" up is wrong, I play the tempo and show them that I wrote it down on the sheet music and marked the date along with "all agreed". You shouldn't be surprised that almost all have no idea what tempo they agreed upon at last rehearsal. Funny how out of five or more musicians in a band, only the drummer has problems with tempo.
Bottom line ... I'm happy with my purchase. Upgrade this unit, Tama!

Great addition to the kit!

By DJ from Colorado on December 9, 2018 Music Background: Professional

The RW200 is a great tool---if for nothing else, just to be able to tell the lead guitarist, "actually, it really is 130 BPM!"

I like the differing click sounds it provides; you can store 30 different tempos, so, if you have a setlist ahead of time you can set your tempos beforehand; the large tempo wheel allows one to change tempos quickly and effortlessly if you need to deviate between programmed tempos; it has a backlight so it's easy to read on-stage; you can run it direct to your in-ears or through a board/mixer. The start/stop button is easy to use and there is no delay in the beat/click when started, so if you want to start the click mid-song, it will be on the beat. So, why just 4 1/2 stars? I would have given it 5 stars if it was capable of storing 45 to 50 tempos, which is customary when playing a 4-hour gig.

Drummer Metronome / Dan Vranic

By Robert Huddleston from Richmond, Va. / Moseley on December 26, 2018 Music Background: 55 years playing / jazz-R&B-Beach-Horn bands

As far as the metronome goes I have not had much time to learn it and to use it with family in town for holidays but so far I think it is a great add on to my set(s) and my playing and practicing. I am sure it will benefit me greatly just like Dan Varanic did helping me with my decision on my product purchase. It is great to have a drummer helping a drummer with a purchase. We can talk the same language. Thank you Dan and thank you Sweetwater.

Best Metronome There is except for....

By Mike on September 15, 2017 Music Background: Professional drummer

This truly is the best metronome for drummers. Mountable, programmable and very user friendly. This new version has many improvements over the older version that make it worth upgrading to.
The only bad thing is, there are only 2 metronome sounds. Really? Only 2? Seriously Tama?
Neither sound is as nice as the metronome sound in the Roland V Drum machines. Both can feel like ice picks in the ears if not used with good headphones or the volume is turned up too high. Unfortunately, but maybe not such a bad thing, the headphone volume isn't as loud as it should be. To use this with live drums that are loud, you'll need good isolation headphones. If you can get over the bad part, the rest is the best!

Sim Card

By Michael Salamone from West Seneca, New York on January 26, 2017 Music Background: Professional Musicaian.

I admit to not owning a RW200 yet, but it appears to me this unit would even be more productive to have in addition Sim Card capabilities. I don't know about other drummers, but my shows on average perform more than 30 songs! Even if this is not a big issue ... having the ability to program and save the tempos to more than 30 songs on a Sim Card would be very useful.

Not That Durable

By Andy Graham from Poway, CA on August 25, 2019

Sure wish they made this more durable. I love this metronome, have two and use them for both practice and gigs (storing set list tempos for quick reliable song starts). Just ordered my third one because of failure/breakdown and I need a quick replacement for an upcoming gig next weekend . This time the electronics are fritz-ing out a bit working intermittently. Can't have that at a gig where the band plays song-to-song in rapid succession.

I've had to take both RW200's apart to fix / re-glue, the program and store buttons which are far too fragile. Having done this 3-4 times already, and so I really baby my use of the RW200 including a hard case that I keep it in for gig travel. Still, just plain old careful use and things break down around 12 months of twice a week use. I find myself now looking for a more durable alternative with programmable features.

Noise

By Alan from Shawnee, KS on May 26, 2019

I use the Tama RW200 running through our in-ear monitors for our church worship team. Features are great. However occasionally the unit creates a lot of noise in that channel. It is not every use, but nearly half of the times we use it. New batteries do not seem to correlate with the presence of the noise or not. Have been using this for about 1-year and the noise seems to be occurring more and more frequently lately. The band says it sounds like space aliens in their ears.

Build quality just ok

By Don M. from York, PA on July 4, 2018

The functions are great. I wish it had more sounds and the build quality should be better for this price though.
