The best monkey stick around brother

i don’t own it but my dad does

By max on April 28, 2021 Music Background: 15 year old musician

bro this guitar is honestly one of the greatest guitars i've ever played. it's a little different than i'm used to but it's honestly the nicest guitar i've played. i'm not much of a complicated man when it comes to guitar, if it plays well and sounds good then it's a good guitar to me. and this rr has both. person reading this, you should totally get it if you have the money for it.

The RR1 Kicks ***!!! Nice addition to my collection!

By William K Testa from Michigan on October 14, 2019 Music Background: Playing guitar for 42 years for fun.

Love the pickups! Perfect for old 80's Rock and Metal! From Whitesnake bluesy riffs to Metallica's raw aggressive sound by just turning down the volume. Of course it has the excellent quality built in the USA! I love how you can actually use the whammy bar and stay in tune. Low Action for speed playing solos! I want to Thank my salesman (Simon Waterhouse) for going the extra mile and making sure that I was 100% satisfied! Rock and Roll forever brother! Peace out....

USA RR1

By Sweetwater Customer on September 30, 2019

The Jackson USA RR1 select sound, design, and craftsmanship is maybe the best I have played. The quality going in definantly gives you a return on tone and action. I have many high end and vintage guitars but this RR1 is quickly going to the top of my list. The wider neck allows me to play super fast leads while still have room to chime out chord as good as any guitar. The pick ups and electronics give you the ability to blast rock and metal or clean up for great rhythm chords. I am really please with this guitar so far I have no issues with it at all.
Now I want to talk about my Sweetwater experience. It is as high as my thoughts of this guitar. The great techs there actually chased me down to answer my questions I had. I difenantly have no second thoughts about calling them with any questions I may have in the future.

The one you want.

By Britton W. from Indianapolis on February 16, 2017 Music Background: Hobbyist

This is the guitar you want. This guitar is a masterpiece. I've never played a guitar where you could feel the this level of quality in the instrument when you take it out of the case. This whole guitar is a masterclass in quality and attention to detail. From the beautiful mother-of-pearl logo to the weight of the controls to the shape of the bevels to weaves in the binding. These small details really give you a sense that the luthiers at Jackson USA truly love what they do. The attention given to these small details should indicate the quality of the instrument...and I haven't even got to playing the components of this guitar!

The body is really solid and you feel the quality of the wood. The alder body quartersawn maple neck-through-body give this guitar a really clear tone. It's not the biggest tone in the world but it certainly is one of the clearest. Every note play no matter how high or low, really comes out clearly.

The neck on the RR1 is astounding. It's so comfortable, and despite it's relative thinness, has a great solid feel to it. It's shape makes it easy to play every string with great technique and while the heel of the instrument starts at the 17th fret, it's still easy to access the 17th-22nd frets. Because of the quality of the neck and the graphite trussrod, you can get the action to be incredibly low on this guitar. The jumbo frets on this guitar are fantastic and are perfectly contoured to shape of compound radius. That compound radius makes it comfortable to play every where on the fretboard. The height of the frets also makes it easy to play because you don't need much pressure to make the notes come out clearly.

The Seymour Duncan pickups have a great tone and also have great clarity even when playing with a lot of gain. The SH2 Jazz neck pickup is genuinely one of the best pickups on the market. It delivers incredible cleans. Despite it's image as being one of the most metal of "metal" guitars, this guitar can truly deliver any tone you want.

The Original Floyd Rose on here works beautifully. Once you learn how to balance spring and string tension, it is very easy to use. Simply follow the instructions on the Floyd Rose website and you'll be good to go.

As other other review have said, despite it's shape, this really is a comfortable guitar to play. I suggest using a foot stool (like a classical guitarist) for optimum seating position.

If I was to change one thing on this guitar, it would be to have an oiled neck rather than the paint finish. This is just a personal preference to make it even easier to move up and down the neck.

The luthiers at Jackson USA are truly some of the best in the business and this guitar is truly the best I've ever owned.

Amazing

I was completely amazed with this guitar, I purchased it from Sweetwater and it arrived perfectly setup. I have wanted one of these guitars ever since I watched Randy Rhoads play his "Concorde" back in 1981, I wanted a white one with a tuneOmatic bridge, however a black one with a Floyd Rose was available as a "demo" through Sweetwater, I have fallen in love with this guitar and I now regret not buying one sooner. I have several Charvels and Jackson guitars from the 80s and the neck profile on my RR1 is a little different, but not in a bad way. I will recommend one of these USA Jackson guitars to all of my students because the quality is there and I recommend Sweetwater to all of my students because they truly take care of their buyers needs. Mike Soper is the greatest sales rep. I have ever worked with. Thanks Sweetwater for another great guitar.

RR-3

By Sanford from Walkerton, Ind on October 10, 2015

I did not find a place to review the RR3 so I just wanted to get on here and say the customer service is 2nd to none. I've bought four guitars of various prices. I have never had a company check back with me about a purchase . Everything came ready to play out of the box. Sweetwater your the best

Jackson Select Series RR1 Rhoads - Black - Great Guitar!

By John Hawbaker from Scottsdale, Az on November 12, 2014 Music Background: Hobbyist

Love it! Great tone and playability. Thick, rich sound with 9's. Great balance, versatile, looks great. Just plain fun to play. I wish I'd bought this before my other guitars. Thanks to Devin Cunningham at Sweetwater for the recommendation.

Floyd Rose guitar that is easy to play and souds great

By Kerry L. from Northwest, Indiana. on June 14, 2014 Music Background: Hobbyist, Student and soon Music Teacher

The finish and sound is spectacular on my RR1 .The first 25.5 scale guitar which the neck pickup sounds killer, I'm pretty much leaving it stock everything. I just added 9 hybred slinkies and four tremp springs, tuned and intonated it. The action is nice and low with just a faint amount of buzz and I never hear it through my amp. Beautiful USA craftsmanship. Go to Sweetwater Fest and get a deal !

Jackson RR USA - wait till you HEAR it LOUD

By Miko Del from PA on February 13, 2020 Music Background: BMus degree, lifetime player and writer

I was lucky... mommy and daddy bought me this guitar back in 1985 before it was $3k. It was the first whammy I ever had. What a fine way to learn the "expression bar" as Jennifer calls it. But the real WHAMMY on this instrument is its TONE. You can't believe how crunchy, ballsy, and FAT this guitar sounds thru just about any decent rig. Well, I guess you can... just listen to Blizzard or Diary. Chord nuance, harmonics, just the SOUND... it makes you grab it when you want to record. I don't know what Jackson's secret is, but they definitely know what they're doing. Thank you Randy, you were definitely great on many levels. Only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because I found the fretboard was a bit too narrow. The high e string kept slipping off the fretboard, a lot. Even the low e once in awhile. I tried hard to adjust my technique, but ultimately I paid a skilled tech to actually insert a strip of ebony and WIDEN the fretboard. After that... perfect.

My own 2 cents

By Sweetwater Customer on November 7, 2021

I have a RR1 metallic yellow with black bevels. Now I got this thing back in 87 88 some time around there so looking at this one its not the same. #1 My bridge sits on top of the body there is no cut out that it sits in.
#2 there was never a place on the back of the head stock that allen wrenches mounted. #3 them pickups are not even close. This is a remake. If its worth that then mine would be worth even more if I saved them pickups.
