Worth TWICE the price?!?

By shredd from 7 miles west of the Middle Of Nowhere on September 1, 2023 Music Background: Solid amateur? Or feeble Pro? No one knows...

I absolutely LOVE this thing. I went from a Tascam 2488neo (which allows only a punch in/out pedal) to a DP-32, which is compatible with the RC-3F. I can't possibly overstate how much this footswitch has smoothed out my workflow...not to mention a considerable reduction on the wear-n-tear I used to put the transport buttons on my 'neo through!
By FAR the best feature is the ability (with a compatible recorder) to configure each pedal's function as you wish, to fit your needs/aims and workflow.
It's a tad pricey, but knowing now what it does, I probably would've paid MORE for it. I'd consider it an indispensable accessory, unless you've got someone sitting at your Tascam running it for you!
A user's tip: use a piece of black duct tape to tape the cable to the body of the unit, where it comes out of the casing. It's pretty fragile-looking, and one good yank or step-on might wreck it...but mine is going on 2 years of daily use with no problem. I also taped the cable to the table next to the MTR, so that the tiny plug that goes into the DP can't get yanked/bent/broken.

Record with Ease and Confidence

The TASCAM RC-3F 3-way Foot Switch will give you ease and confidence in recording on cue. This is a must addition for hands-free operations.

Great footswitch

I ordered this footswitch (Tascam RC-3f) to go with the (Tascam DP-130 Digital Portastudio.) Makes my ideas come to life. If I come up with a riff, a song idea.the footswitch comes in handy. I love both of them.

TASCAM RC-3F 3-Way Foot Switch

By Charlie on July 12, 2015 Music Background: songwriter recording for 40+ years

This was easy to use right out of the box. Zero learning curve. It is an indispensable tool for hands free recording on a Tascam DP32. So handy for punching in or doing a retake of a section within a track! It's much faster to use than reaching for the controls on the board itself, especially when recording on-the-fly. Also can be set up to have the three button switches perform different functions than factory setting but I found the factory settings quite useful the way it came. Love the rewind to last cue position, so time-saving and allows me to stay behind my keyboard or hold onto a guitar or trombone, for that matter. Unless you employ an engineer to run the machine for you, I highly recommend this foot switch.

TASCAM RC-3F 3-Way Foot Switch

TASCAM RC-3F 3-Way Foot Switch is a wonderful accessory, indispensable.

Solid, reliable

By ethan on December 1, 2022

I use this with a DR-40 when I am recording live solo sessions. There are a couple different layout settings each for recording or playback that cover all my basic hands-free remote needs (record, advance, mark, play, pause, ff, rw, etc). Though not fully customizable (at least on the DR-40) they are thoughtfully designed as to how to allocate the 3 buttons for different use scenarios. Sometimes I get confused as to which layout setting I am using, I think I need to create a little cheat card for myself and maybe tape it to the top of the unit.

It has a long cord, the foot switches are quiet and seem to actuate reliably. It feels quite heavy and solid in the hand. Takes a couple of standard AA batteries that last a long time between changes or recharge. Even though it is larger and heavier than the recording unit I use it with, it is often worth having on hand, and let's face it, DR-40 + footswitch + tripod is not a heavy 24-bit stereo recording rig that gives me very high quality recordings (as long as I get my mic placement sorted) free of button press and other handling sounds.

I wish the cord was easily removable/replaceable, but so far no problems with it over the years I've had it. Don't leave batteries in it (generally true of all electronics) if you don't plan on using it soon. I left it in storage for a couple years with batteries in it and had to clean out the battery compartment, but it still works fine.

Works great

Absolute Necessity

By Mike from Portland, OR on May 23, 2018 Music Background: Watch for the album to drop

This foot switch has become absolutely INVALUABLE to me in my recording efforts. With both hands busy on the guitar, punching in to add a part or correct a mistake is now very easy. Frankly I don't know how I got by without it for the first 3 months. This is a must-have purchase for the solo recording musician.

Great addition

By Michael Kelly from Ball Ground, GA on August 17, 2017

I love the versatility of this foot switch. It is perfect since I have a central location for things in my place as it is small. How small is my work area? So small that I with my guitar bent the jack which is why I gave it a 4.5. It's not the greatest thing in design history to put the jack sticking strait out of the front or to use a strait out plug. But it was my mistake! Not to pay attention to having it sticking out over the surface when I turned around with my guitar. So the foot switch survived but now has a right angle stereo plug from Radio shack on it. Yes you can assign the different function that you want to use each pedal for in preferences.

should have bought sooner

By Mark Pikus from Arizona on July 11, 2016

All though I did not buy this from Sweetwater , this is a very handy tool. punch - ins , punch -outs , rewind , fast forward. Has made recording much easier with a press on the pedal, I am a song writer and play all tracks

Great foot switch

I bought the tascam rc-3f 3 way foot switch about a month ago. I've had a chance to use it in a couple of recording sessions now. I think tascam charges a bit too much for it, but it's a well made product. It's heavy enough, and the bottom is rubber, so it doesn't move around. I'm using it with the tascam dp-03 8-track recorder. The multi-track recorder gives you several options of what each pedal can do. It's quick and simple to setup. It makes recording time much quicker using the pedal and not having to take your hands off the instrument. It's also nice being able to cleanly punch in and fix parts of a track, which is almost impossible without a pedal. I'm glad I got it. It's a good tool to have.

Big Foot Switch

By James Nelson from Columbia, SC USA on October 9, 2013 Music Background: Singer/songwriter with much experience with multitrackers.

This big switch is a delight to use because it is electronically very quiet. I can punch in and then punch out without any noticeable clicks that would be problematical.

RC-3F multi-function pedal

By Artie from Jacksonville, FL on April 1, 2017

I own both the GB-10 and LR-10, for which this unit works. (Wish they still sold the LR-10.) When I first saw this, I thought . . . this is probably three cheap micro-switches in a cheap plastic case. I could probably build one for a fraction of the price. But I wasn't sure how they would wire those switches to a mini stereo plug. So I pulled the trigger and bought one. Glad I did. As a tech, I had to tear it apart to see how it works. It does have some electronics inside. I hooked it up to a 'scope, and watched the output. Each of the three pedals generates three distinct digital words: one for initial push, one for "hold", and one for release. No way could I construct one for anywhere near this price. This pedal really expands the functionality of the LR/GB-10. I held back one star because it is a cheap-ish plastic case. But if it breaks, it could probably be repaired fairly easily. If you own of the products for which this pedal works, I highly recommend it.

Ok Tascam. Bring back the LR-10.

Tascam RC-3F foot switch

Tascam works great, very nice to have. Frees up the hand. I as a buyer thought that this device should come with a foot switch.
