Great Board - Terrible Support From Sweetater

By Sweetwater Customer

Easily The best board out there. I also ordered the Allen & Heath AR2412 24x12 stage box. This was an upgrade from the QU16 which I also highly recommend. The only problem I had was with it syncing to the stage box. I called Sweetwater tech support but gave up after a half hour on hold. They pride themselvs on customer service but that wasn't my exerience. After several hours of researching the problem with no help from Sweetwater I figured out that it needed a software upgrade. After I upgraded the software everything worked, I couldn't be happier with the board! Not so much with Sweetwater.

Great for Medium sized venues

By Sweetwater Customer

We bought the Qu 24 replace our 24 channel analog Allen and Heath board. As Advertised I found it to be the right combination of user friendly and technically advanced. Having used it for our worship and third party outside events for about 15 months we're still discovering new ways to enhance the quality of sound and ease of use for both our FOH and Youtube broadcast.

From the convenience of the remote mixing with the Qu Pad tablet app to the ability to use effects and processing on all Input channels and and mixes. It seems like there's nothing this board can't do. I recommend the Qu line of boards for anybody looking to make the jump for analog to Digital.

Awesome mixer

By Keith N. from Oakesdale, WA
Music Background: Professional, Touring, Band Leader

Always have been a fan of Allen & Heath boards and this one did not let me down. I was hesitant going from analog to digital and after a year of research with many different digital mixers, I decided to go with the QU-24.
It was fairly easy to learn how to set up. I did use the online help videos available which was a great help. I had this mixer for a week and was confident to use it for a live gig and it worked great.
The faders make it possible to quickly adjust sound on stage and the ability to use an iPad to run your mix gives you the ability to have a front of house engineering without needing the desk out front. The QU YOU app has saved me so much frustration because now all my band members can adjust their own monitor mixes.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone that is wanting to go from analog to digital. Sounds great, easy to set up, easy to understand, and a great layout.

Great mixer

By Sweetwater Customer from Virginia Beach

We've had a QU24 at our church for several years now and we absolutely love it. The sound quality is top notch, and the work flow is fairly easy to learn. We also love the mobile/tablet apps that Allen and Heath have provided. We have it paired with the GLD2412 stage box and have no issues at all with the dSnake. I highly recommend this mixer, especially for churches with a limited budget.

Finding a QU-Drive that works!

By Rick from Florida
Music Background: Church Sound operator

I may write a full or opinion review later, but anyone that buys this and intends to us the QU-Drive (built-in USB drive) needs to know.

After trying many drives that didn't work, I finally found a drive enclosure that works for all features:

URL not provided per review guidelines.
ORICO Tool Free 2.5 inch USB 3.0 SATA External Hard Drive Enclosure for 2.5" SATA HDD and SSD Support UASP

I used it with a WD 1TB drive and it worked right away.

Allen & Heath QU24

By Matt from Frankston
Music Background: Sound engineer

Well I"ll be now on to my 3rd desk soon due to major issues. Desk one - power switch stuck in and a buzzing noise coming through QDrive. Desk number 2 - just before sound check the desk freezes, fades all selectors buttons stop working, reset with new firmware still no good! That one cost me a gig and a hire desk ($950 all up).... so am I happy?? No way the can have them back and I"ll consider another brand!

Great for beginners or advance users. The Gld series a major step forward for any touring or church. You won't be disappointed. Great job AH

Awesome bored

By Orquesta U. from Tampa, FL
Music Background: Percussionist

We were totally impressed with this board, right out of the box straight to a gig. Had never worked this board, a couple of simple instructions and we're off to the races. the board sounded amazing very little corrections, the FX right on point. 14 piece Salsa Orquesta and we were very impressed highly recommend this board.

Limited

By Sweetwater Customer from Chicago
Music Background: Theatre

It sounds fine, and for a basic user with little digital experience, it's very easy to use. But this board is missing some very basic features, such as a low-pass filter (making it difficult to set up an appropriate sub send). There is no soft-patching capability. The stereo-only processing channels (mixes, matricies) seem to waste processing power when you need more mono mixes. The lack of scribble strips and the arrangement of the fader layers gets VERY confusing.

QU For Life!

By Hanroux L.
Music Background: Sound Engineer

The Allen & Heath QU range beats the competition hands down when it comes to ease of use, versatility & features. Nice compact size, excellent build quality at a very affordable price.

I have used a number of digital consoles in the same category as the QU range & the layout of the QU24 just makes sense. Access to all 24 input channels is the first layer (unlike some of the other ones), FX, aux & group masters is on the second. It just makes perfect sense. The layout of the menu & different functions therein is easy to access & use. The EQ presets, RTA & Spectogram features are also brilliant.

What stood out for me was the ability to do stereo or multitrack recordings straight to a USB drive. Not a lot of the other more expensive consoles in the same category have this feature unless you buy the needed expansion cards.

If you need an affordable, compact, digital console that is loaded with features then the QU range is the way to go!

Qu-24

By Jeff K. from Tampa, FL

I've had my Qu-24 for almost a year now, used as my main studio board and my live sound / location recording business. I really couldn't be much happier with it. The preamps are great (in fact I sold all of my outboard studio preamps) and board operation is intuitive. I have a short wish list (electronic scribble strips, selectable sample rate and the ability to record more than 18 tracks via the integrated USB recorder) but for the price it can't be beat.

Don"t Be Scared

By Jeff from Jensen Beach, Florida

I see where a bunch of people here in the USA are scared of products that come from Europe. Especially when it comes to Pro Audio. Excuses are always "What do you do when it breaks?" or the always popular "Where can I buy parts?" Get over it! Yes, I will agree that in the past there may have been an issue. With today's technology and the ease of getting parts or finding an "Authorized Service Center" is only a few clicks away. So quit worrying and check this board out!
Going from Analog to Digital is a big switch. It was for me, but I could not be happier. I'm one of those guys that sits back on things while the bugs get worked out for the first 6 months to a year before I make a move. To me, the Qu Series boards were brought in because of the "success" of the Behringer X32. I'm glad A & H did. The X32 has a bunch of great features that, personally, make the board appealing but I think it adds to how confusing these new Digital Boards can be. You can actually overwhelm your self with adding in all the little nuggets the X32 provides. Way to busy of a board for me. I know it well and use one at a venue I run sound for, but my NUMBER ONE CHOICE is my A & H Qu24. The Qu16 & Qu32 are amazing by themselves but the Qu24 suits my needs. Very easy work flow throughout the board, much less complicated than the X32, the Pre-Amps are Legendary, the on board Effects are great and so easy to move in and out for every song or artist. This board is clean! No hiss here! I like the addition of the Chrome knobs, while working in low light. Bought mine before the chrome one came out. I also bought the desk lamp that plugs in and it is great as well. Pricey for a light but you get what you pay for. I recently bought the Digital Stage Snake AH2412 and 200' of cable and not one issue with latency when making adjustments. I did not buy the A & H cable. I bought one that is basically the same but it's the one Behringer suggests for their Digital boards and snakes. I also have a dedicated wireless router for the board and use the Qu App on my iPad. I'll walk away from the board to check sound coverage throughout the venue with my iPad and make adjustments as needed. Again, no latency here either. Some of the performers are also using the iPhone app called Qu You because they have performed with me a few times and this lets THEM adjust their own monitor mix. It's really a great set up once you have a basic understanding of how it works.
I also have to admit that I run the board to a DAW with Pro Tools and I can record every performance and after its completed I send a copy of that performance to the artist if they request it. Works out well. If you use a Mac you can record all 24 channels in to the DAW.
One last quick thing then I'm done. With the on going software updates, A & H make this board even better. They've added in a library of microphone settings that you can use as a starting point for a given channel like the kick drum. These settings are very good by themselves and make sound checks go very quickly. I've found I make slight adjustments, if I use that mic pre-set. There are plenty of Forums online to answer questions. I know I used them when starting out.
Don"t be scared of Allen & Heath, but all of their competitors should be. Peace!

Excellent

By Gus from MN

We purchased the Qu-24 this past summer to replace a flaky presonus 24.4.2 Ai. I love the simplicity of the work flow, Motorized faders, and graph for the eq. We also use the digital snake. Set up is now super easy. We can set up the pa in 15 minutes and get to setting up our own instruments. Awesome!
