DDrums direct drive

By Paul L. from Oklahoma City
Music Background: Punk rock, hard rock, classic rock, progressive rock. If it's got drums i can play it

I like this pedal. I'm no pro. Self taught. Playing since 1988. It works great. Action is perfect. I can't say anything bad. Thanks guys for another great product.

Buyer beware

By Andrew
Music Background: Drummer

I bought this as a segway to direct drive pedals. As one of the other reviews stated, some of the threading has come loose and/or it wasn't machined properly, which made the pedal unusable. For the the whole 3 hours I got to use it, it worked very well. I'll most likely return and get something different.

Not too good

By Jeff B. from Bozman, MD

It's just an awkward pedal wether using chain or direct drive.
Left pedal is always sluggish no matter what adjustments I made.
This pedal held me back and made me not be able to do the patterns and speeds I used to do with ease.
But i kept it as it was "working" at the time.
I no longer play live , just strictly record , and this thing is just bad.
Today it has bit the dust (after 4 years of medium usage) as it keeps coming apart.
And now the left beater will hardly reach the bass drum head , and the pin on the left side shaft keeps popping out.
I had a 20+ year old power shifter pedal that was better than this out the box.
Oh , well , time to get something else.

I like it

By Joshua

I used to have a yamaha direct drive but it got stolen/lost at a gig. It was smoother but not drastically.

I replaced it with a pdp concept direct drive. The guitarist broke that real quick. The direct drive part was attatched to the footboard with a plastic piece. What a joke...

I bought this a few years ago. It's definitely made better than the pdp. The design is intuitive and easy to adjust. I was even able to modify it to use straps so now it can use all 3 drive types.

It does seem to be made out of cheaper materials though. It's held up for a long time but I'm not sure I'd want to tour with it. It costs more now so I'd probably get the yamaha instead. Also, the left pedal definitely does not feel the same as the right, I'm planning on getting a trick driveshaft soon to rectify this.

Beware

By Larry W. from Sidney Ohio

All I can say is beware when buying this pedal. I bought one a year or two ago and had a problem with the beater holders keybolts or other important machine screws coming loose and falling out or the threads stripping. The performance is amazing as long as the engineering of the thing has gotten better. This is my reason for 3 stars. It was not as reliable as a DW or a Tama pedal.
