Waves PuigChild 660 & 670 Plug-in Reviews

Use this after EQ on my live drum recordings,then limiter so I don't go in the red,just ever so close.It fattens up very nice and I even throw in some saturation/distortion to give my kit that "extra pair".My go to for sure,glad I got this.

Bought this a few weeks back. So far I've only used it on the mix bus but it is pretty amazing. Allowed me to eliminate all my mastering plug-ins except for this and ozone elements. The compressor is very forgiving but it really does an amazing job of controlling transients so I have a nice even mix going into ozone for limiting. Love it!

The results sound amazing, and so easy to use. I highly recommend this product to any studio musician.

Wow! I say that every single time I use it! What a bargain...for this price you get the real 'Child in software form. Amazing results, always, all the time. I use stock comp's in my DAW's: Studio One 4, Samplitude Pro X3 and ACID 8, and while they are stellar plugins', nothing touches the results achieved via Waves PuigChild 660 & 670 comp/limiter. I RARELY recommend plugins but this is essential kit for any budget. Hands down the best out there.

It's so smooth. This thing is the thing everyone needs. No peeking and distortion what so ever. This is as real as a digital compressor can get with a smooth analog feel. It does wonders for vocals no matter what type of mic. I use the CLA limiter,V-Comp, and the Puigchild in that order and it really works magic for my vocals. Friends ask all the time what type of mic am I using ( scarlett focusrite) which is cheap. I can't wait to upgrade my mic to see a even bigger drastic difference. All in all.....good stuff!

The PuigChild is a joy to put on your tracks. Not every compressor works on every source, but the PuigChild could honestly live on almost any source. If the Time-Constant thing looks confusing, just use your ears and don't worry about which number means what. You'll get the hang of it quickly.

I just teach guitar and make simple lesson recordings and backing tracks in a small project studio. I don't expect great results but I use an Avalon VT737sp preamp, a Neumann TLM103 and an AKG414UBLS and get a respectable sound. I have friends with preamp plug ins and frankly, I haven't been impressed, so I was hesitant to try the PuigChild but the price was worth a gamble though I doubted it would sound like a real compressor.

Boy was I wrong. If there was a button to push that would magically add an aura of professionalism to your tracks, this is it. I've recorded with the original Fairchild and can truthfully say, this captures that same magic. I don't think I'll record without it again.

Great plugin. If you want a great plugin to fatten things up, get this classic. They really did do a great job on this one. I put this compressor on my keys live rig using Ableton and wow did it bring it out. My backing tracks and the piano really pops out now. If you catch this one on sale.....just do yourself a favor and pick it up!!!!

I was new to Puig, never heard of it before. But I must say that after the initial learning curve this is my go to comp okay? "If you take it away you miss it" is the saying that goes best with this plug in. Pre sets are very useful as well. Adds body, depth, character. On the mains out I put this in front of a limiter and -0.3 Db, then analyze in a master suite getting 0's (no clips) every time. Love it. And of course Sweetwater has a great team giving great support, knowledgeable in any thing one may purchase at the store.

Recommend this to anyone making music. In my opinion, it's the best compressor out there. The results I've gotten have been mind-blowing. Just purchase it. You won't be disappointed.

I have several compressors in my DAW and all have their special characteristics. However the Waves PuigChild 660 & 670 plug-in serves my needs more often than any of the others. It is very easy to use and has several options go application. I do recommend this plug-in to all DAW users. You won't be disappointed.

This is a great compressor especially for drums. You can even compress the sides separately which is cool by itself. I always wait for plug ins like this to go on sale though but you won't be disappointed even if you pay the original price.

I can't listen with my mind. I can only listen with my ears. This plug-in from Waves helps the music sound 'better'. It contains lots of preset load functions that you can use and you can create your own settings to store. Points: a) easy to use and b) help you to sound 'better' - definitely worth it !

The review title says it all. Don't even have to fiddle with the controls too much. Add a subtle bit of this beautiful sounding plug-in and that's it. Love that vintage look as well.

The learning curve was as always, quit the ride. Two days, 18, and 12 hours. Trying thisN' that till it all came to where it should be. As always 'Less is more'. I'll not use these tool much but they are invaluable nonetheless. The Comp on main, the verb on Aux. Some comp on CH tracks as needed. The waves software is making the difference, great stuff!

I'd have given this a five star but the way Puig downloads software for first-time buyers is confusing to say the least. To begin with, they no longer follow their own posted instructions. Once I stumbled into the correct link it made no intuitive sense. It took me a half hour with Sweetwater's very patient tech support to untangle the mess. So first time Puig buyers beware.

That said, the unit is a dream to use and adds a warm, transparent sheen to tracks that is almost magical. It's a steal...

Found this product to be everything as advertised and is very useful in creating quality sounding recordings.
