Best Intro Classical Guitar

By Bill Peterson from Florida on January 11, 2022 Music Background: fine arts degree/ some musical theater experience ,lots of blues bands

I've played steel string guitars for 55 years and decided I wanted to learn more jazz and samba styles.
So I bought this. I couldn't be happier. The tone and ease of play surprised me.
Sweetwater set it up with great strings and string to fretboard depth was perfect. No Buzzing.
It's helped me learn a lot.
Thanks

For a starter guitar, this is an excellent instrument

By Charles Goodwin from Philadelphia, PA on December 22, 2021 Music Background: I don't play guitar. I practice guitar.

I bought this guitar because I am taking classical guitar lessons. As a player, I have a long way to go. After about six months of use, this guitar has held up well. The sound is excellent for the price point. It's generally free of extraneous noises and weird overtones that I've heard from really cheap guitars. There are no manufacturing defects that I can find (as mentioned in another review).

I'd also give a solid recommendation for the included Saverez strings. They have a much nice tone that the d'addario's I've been using on my other classical guitar.

Awesome Guitar!

By Troutman03 from Alden, New York on February 28, 2018 Music Background: Retired pro player. 62 years young

This is not a beginners guitar. This is a high quality instrument, fit and finish is excellent. Stays in tune has great sound for the money. If you are looking for an easy playing fine sounding low cost classical guitar this is it.! I highly recommend this axe. Sweetwater is great to deal with and they sell great guitars for great prices! The gig bag is a little cheap but it does protect and fit this guitar well. That is my only qualm I have with this guitar!

Wonderful Guitar

By Mike Wright from FL on December 25, 2016 Music Background: Former professional musician (trumpet)

Beautifully made guitar with an even tonal response and good volume through the entire range. Smaller travel size makes it easy to carry and gig bag is well made and heavier duty than I was expecting.

Great Sound for an Inexpensive Guitar

By Wally from Fort Wayne, IN on May 9, 2016 Music Background: Beginner

Purchased the full size Córdoba Protege C1 last week to help my poor arthritis hands. I have been playing a steel string acoustic guitar for the past two years and my hands have been limiting me. The Sweetwater sales associate was very helpful and I tried out three other classical guitars before selecting the Córdoba.

I am impressed how well this inexpensive guitar sounds. It projects almost as well as my solid spruce top acoustic guitar and is a lot easier on my hands. The guitar came with Savarez 500 CJ strings which work very well with the the guitar.

I would recommend this guitar to my friends!

Great guitar and great price!

This guitar is overall amazing. This guitar may be aimed at beginners but, is a high quality guitar fit for anyone. It looks great, sounds nice, and feels great! I highly suggest this for any beginner and even for those who know how to play.

Cordoba C1

By Emery Benoit from Lake Cherles , La. on July 28, 2013 Music Background: Down to a Hobby

I played steel string guitar all my life.
Wanted to try classical. Well my Sales Rep
told me it was going to be different. And it is
in a good way , I love the deep tone without any
twang. Nylon makes it easy to play. Only had it for
a few week , but so far so good.
Thanks Sweetwater and Austin Moss .

I love it

By Drea from Kingman, AZ on August 14, 2017

I am an absolute beginner, and bought this guitar along with an Epiphone Les Paul 100 Electric to learn on. I love this guitar. The tuners are a little bit sloppy, but it does hold a tune fairly well, and it sounds lovely even with my awful playing. I would think, even if you are a more advanced player, you would be happy to have this one in your collection.

Nice guitar with a clean sound. Very good guitar for the price.

Nice Beginner Nylon String

By John from Maryland on June 1, 2021 Music Background: Just now seriously trying to read and play music... for fun stress relief.

I am a 64 y/o beginner. My 4th guitar, but my first nylon string. This seems a very good instrument for the price. Sounds good and looks very good also. After a few weeks there is a wee bit of buzz on o few frets on the A string, but I'm sure I can get that worked out. All part of owning a guitar. I am taking lessons and soon to play in front of others for the first time. I am happy with this guitar and always happy with SW's customer service... the best. Thanks to Dave Honimar-Chordas and to Sweetwater!

Delicate But Beautiful

By Sweetwater Customer from San Diego on August 28, 2017 Music Background: Student

I am in love with my beautiful guitar. I named her Matilda. She is quite delicate and has to be looked after quite a bit. She doesn't do well in high humidity. So I have to adhere to the instructions that came with her. I do keep her in the gig bag at all times when I'm not practicing. The times that she wasn't squared away tightly her strings broke. So unless you have good humidity in your place, be sure to keep the Protege C1 in a humidified atmosphere. To be on the safe side, get a guitar humidifier or the Humicase™
The customer service from Cordoba is another good reason to go with the Cordoba brand. They make it all worthwhile. I am glad that they are immediately responsive to questions. Overall I feel that I have done something right for someone who is on her 2nd guitar.

Very difficult to play

By Sweetwater Customer on March 17, 2018

I bought the classical guitar thinking that the wider nut will enable me to play without muting the strings. I was wrong. Here are the reasons why I hate this guitar:

1) Since the nut and the neck are a lot wider than an electric guitar, it is very hard to reach the 5th and 6th strings. You need very long fingers to reach the 5th and 6th strings!

2) The action is way too high to play power chords or even solo notes. The higher frets are even worse.

3) The body is humongous compared to an electric guitar. So I find it very difficult to wrap my hand around to strum the guitar. The guitar comes almost to my neck when I sit and play and I am an above average person. So I have to tilt the guitar a bit and that makes it even harder to play the lower strings as I have to reach out farther. This also makes my fingers come at an angle and so I tend to mute the strings more. This completely negates the main idea of buying a guitar with wider. You have to be a very tall person with very long arms and fingers to play this guitar. I cant imagine people recommending this to teenagers.

4) The body doesnt have to be that big as it is very loud already. So the body could have been smaller. I dont like all that loud sound very close my ears. With the electric guitar I dont have that problem as I can adjust the volume.

5) There is no way to put a strap! So you have to sit down and play.

I am not going to take the trouble of returning this as I dont want to haul the big box. I am going to put it up for sale at this web site or at Craigslist. Well you never know unless you try it out at the comfort of your home.
