Mackie ProFX16v3 Mixer

By Douglas Long from Centerville, TN on March 22, 2024 Music Background: 10 years with Highway Missions band; Guitar and Vocals

I needed a small, lightweight mixer I could travel with. After reviewing and speaking with my sales engineer this seemed to fit my needs. I received the product as described in just a few days and used it a few days later at a gig with my band and it performed remarkably well!!! Easy to setup and great sounding effects!!!

This Mackie mixer was purchased to replace one that has served for almost 18 years without failure just last month somebody finally blew out a channel so instead of getting it repaired, the facility decided to order a new one everything fit exactly as the old one took me 10 minutes to change it out went through and tested. Everything is perfect Couldn't be happier

Loving This Mackie Mixer!

By John Postel from St. Louis, MO on November 10, 2023 Music Background: Fifty-ear veteran of the live music scene - keyboardist/vocalist who enjoys vintage hippie music.

The Mackie ProFX16v3 addressed all my needs (and I can be pretty needy - Just ask Andy, my Sales Engineer). It's a wonderful device that, after much trial and error with a different brand that couldn't get me where I wanted to be, finally got the job done and has come through like a champ. Specifically, it allows me to monitor during recording and playback in three different ways, with separate volume controls for each of the three: 1) Headphones, 2) Control Room Studio Monitors, 3) House sound in my basement studio/jam-space. Beyond that, it sounds great, is easy to use, and finally got me to zero system noise with my set-up for the first time EVER! (Others came close, but this Mackie took me across the finish line). Many thanks to Andy Rice, my Sales Engineer, as well as to Jeff Milner and Mark Gegner in Tech Support for their help, patience, and persistence in making me a VERY satisfied Sweetwater customer! p.s. The high-quality/low-cost Mackie ER5-X studio monitors and Shure SRH240A headphones really rounded out the system, and the new Kurzweil PC4 is amazing. Go Sweetwater!

Perfect Gigging Board

Compact and built like a tank.

My new toy

By Michael Norris from Phoenix, Az. on September 8, 2023 Music Background: 50 years professional guitar player. Many types of music on my list.

I was in need of a new mixer for a five-piece band. I priced some of the great brands available and found many of them out of my spending range. I am a Mackie fan. I have been using an 8-channel powered Mackie for many years. What a workhorse. However, I needed more mic channels. This one fit the band nicely. Priced right, easy to use with just the right bells and whistles for my purposes. Great product.

Instant difference

By ANDY BARRAZA from Peoria, AZ on June 6, 2023

Bought this bad boy hoping it would make a difference and wow did it, sound is clear and crisp , our guitarist instantly fell in love lol, if your looking for an upgrade look no further, quality sound at a nice price.

Good mixer for a full band setup

By Ken from Arlington, VA on April 11, 2023 Music Background: Drummer in 3 and 4-piece rock bands for 40 years and counting

I play in a 3-piece rock band (guitar, bass, drums and 3 vocals). We upgraded to this mixer from a 20+ year-old Yamaha 8-channel powered mixer that we used as a practice PA as well as a PA for playing small venues. We didn't realize how much we needed the upgrade. We got the Mackie ProFX16v3 mixer and coupled it with two powered monitors and two powered loudspeakers to replace the old system. Not only is the sound quality excellent, but it enabled us to have separate monitor mixes for each member of the band, which is great for when we play outdoors. The effects on the mixer are good and it offers a number of options. The two main positives that we've found so far are the overall s9ound quality and the ability to have three separate monitor mixes. We love it and would highly recommend.

Special thanks to Joel Grumblatt, our sales guy at Sweetwater, for helping us find the right system for us!

Works great

By Jeremy from Charlottesville, VA on April 9, 2023

This does all the right stuff- easy to use, solidly built, great preamps for the mics. I got the carry case as well and it's pretty decent. The only thing that would be a nice add is a built-in accessory light- it's hard to see the knob labels in low light, but maybe that's just me.

Everything they say it is

By Mike Kenney from Phoenix. Az on January 31, 2023 Music Background: Singer, guitar player, sound guy

Best mixer I have ever had. I looked at a lot of different brands and I think I made the right choice. It is easy to operate, it is laid out beautifully, it has a great feel as the knobs and sliders work smoothly. It is a well made unit.

Right what we needed!

By Alvaro from Tomball ,Texas. on December 30, 2022 Music Background: Professional musician, worship leader,Recording experienced!

Sweetwater is the place to go for exceptional service always!
My Rep Bob Furlong will always answer any questions needed or point you in the right direction before your purchase!
Mackie is a brand with a great reputation as well.
We needed a good quality utility mixer that we could move easily from room to room , something that we could move, connect mics and speakers and get the mix needed on the fly!
After our 20+ years Mackie utility mixer gave up on us we were happy to have a needed upgrade.
Great sound , acceptable effects, is exactly what we needed!
THANKS AGAIN SWEETWATER!!!

This unit is perfect for any small studio or band. I installed this in a venue with about 250 person capacity. Band is five instruments with six vocals and this unit functions and sounds perfect! Crystal clear with all the needed capability. Great compression and FX. Thanks Sweetwater

ProFX16v3 Mixer

By Troy from Montgomery, AL. on August 10, 2022

This piece of equipment ROCKS!!!! I recently purchased a full Mackie audio system. Mackie 12A Thump mains, Mackie Thump 18s subs, Mackie headphones, Mackie microphones, AND the Mackie ProFX16v3 bringing it all together. With the RANE ONE using SERATO PRO? Enough said. Shout out to Cole for advising me through all the steps putting this system together.

GREAT Mixer

By William Foraker from Green Valley, AZ on June 11, 2022 Music Background: Trouble Brewin' Band

We just upgraded from a smaller version of Mackie and this one checks all the boxes. 3 aux sends, lots of compression channels, 1/8 input, great versatility, and rock solid dependable. If I could only add one feature, it would be a mute all channels Except 16. We run break music in on 16, so we have to push each channel mute on breaktime...

But that's a tiny item on a great mixer!

Great product, even better service

By Harry Ebbeson from Trophy Club, Texas on June 3, 2022 Music Background: Worship music, both classical bc and contemporary

Andrew was my sales engineer. He was helpful, respectful and kept me informed throughout the process. The Mackie product works well and it does all it spec's for. The additional emails with links to helpful articles was a real bonus.

Keep up the good work!

Mackie still checks all the boxes for live sound mixing...

By Gylling from Houston on May 1, 2022 Music Background: Gigging since 1968

After many years of using Mackie gear, I am still convinced they have the best gigging boards available. My bands have trusted earlier and larger versions of this same board for several years. There have been zero problems/complaints. Mackie preamps are my favorites and workflow still continues to be top shelf. IMO, I'm not sure you will find a better value.

This board would not be my choice for a studio, although in a pinch, it could do the job. I bought this board for some new 2-3-4 piece ensembles I'm working with, for live gigs, and for dialing in the best live sound easily and quickly. My requirements are pretty simple and fundamental, with limited frills, and going digital was/is not appealing to me in the least, but to each his own. Glad I got this one. Per usual, SW's logistics and supply chain provided delivery as promised. I'm happy.

Amazing product!

By Chuck from Woodbridge VA on April 12, 2022 Music Background: Professional Drummer

I just purchased this mixer for my band to use both in our studio and our live performances.. it's one of the best decisions I ever made! The sound and effects are awesome, crystal clear.
My Sweetwater sales rep was awesome in helping me make the right choice!

Love this board!

By Jon from Texas on August 11, 2021 Music Background: Worship Leader

The preamps are so clean and the eq crisp enough that I bypassed my graphic eq. I didn't need it! The board sounded better by itself! Highly recommend!

Picked up this mixer when my old Tascam 16 channel mixer finally bit the dust. I am using it in my studio and find that it meets all my needs so far. Thanks to Melissa Behling, my salesperson at Sweetwater for assisting me with my decision to introduce this mixer into my setup. It works flawlessly and provides a clean interface between my instruments and microphones and my DAW. I love the gig FX presets it provides and find them useful. You can never have too many FX choices at your fingertips. Thanks to Melissa and the Sweetwater staff for being there quickly when you need them. Fantastic service!

Mute buttons work the way they should (in my opinion)

By Sweetwater Customer on June 15, 2022

An important feature of this board for me is the channel mute switches. They mute the entire channel including all Aux mixes. Believe me, not many small boards do this. I switch between several instruments and am able to use this board's mute switches accordingly. When I kill a channel, it's dead, including my buddy's monitor mix. The switches also light up red and say Mute when muted...logical. The other features for the money are also great, too. I'll take off 0.5 point for no master EQ. Hoping I don't need it. I wish it were made in the USA like the old days of my Mackie 1202. I would have paid more for USA-built. Very snappy delivery and good packaging from Sweetwater. The Mackie box inside the box was in perfect condition. Thanks!

Mackie ProFX16v3 16-channel Mixer with USB and Effects Review

By Trevor on January 8, 2020 Music Background: Song-writer/singer in a cowboy church band

Initially, I was looking to purchase the v2 model.
I was saddened to find out that Mackie discontinued that model; just as well though.
As soon as we got the board hooked up, the sound quality was amazing.
We still have some learning curves to conquer, but the instructions provided are heading us in the right direction quickly.
The price was reasonable.
I would recommend this little unit to anyone. :)

Great console! 4.5 stars from me

By Jason Motz from Southwest Florida on November 17, 2022 Music Background: 30 years stage experience as guitar player, I've ran FOH on shows and stage tech for years for various artist.

I love the console, easy to use with great effects! The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because it doesn't have a master equalizer onboard. Great piece of gear though, the clarity difference from our old console is truly amazing. I was really shocked at the difference in our sound. I've been playing out for roughly 30 years and play 90s and up stuff for the most part. I've done full band but for the last seven years it's been an acoustic duo... Rock on!

J&B Acoustics on Facebook if you want to personally ask any question about it and it's also a shameless plug for our duo based out of Southwest Florida.

Mackie ProFX 16v3

By Gary Toth from Pullman Washington on July 6, 2022 Music Background: Soundman

My trusty Mackie of almost 30 years showed signs of dying so I had to get a new one for a wedding. I've only used it once and am reasonably happy with it so far. One reviewer said his had faders that seemed loose and just not very solid feeling. So that made me a little apprehensive. The faders are fine. No looseness at all in these. They have a very nice feel and you have to put just the right amount of pressure on them to get them to move. There is one thing about this board I find annoying. There are 4 stereo channels. The first 3 (9/10, 11/12, 13/14) all have one mic input and 2ea 1/4" inputs. There is a gain control on each channel, but it does not affect the 1/4" inputs, only the mic input. The 4th stereo channel (15/16) has only a 1/8" stereo input and it DOES have a gain control. I found the lack of gain for the 1/4" inputs annoying at best and a deal breaker at worst. Every other board configured with stereo channels like this, that I've ever used, has gain control for the 2 line in's. I tried to play an iphone (with it's volume up all the way) and it could not get loud enough to keep up with the 1/8" input that has a gain control. I had to turn down the gain of 15/16 and all other channels with mics and max out the master outputs to get everything to similar levels. I contacted the factory and they gave me this lame reason of "Well it's only for line level gear so it doesn't need a gain control). I pointed out that the 15/16 channel is line level and it has a gain control. I never got an answer back. So if you can live with that, this seems like a very nice, clean sounding mixer.

By Eric at Hole in the Wall Studios from Southern Arizona on April 29, 2022

Great little board. It does all that I need in my small home studio. Very quiet and clean. A good sensible mixer that provides actually more options than I really need at this time. I also like the fact that it has the capability for me to add additional instruments and musicians when the need arises. Thanks to Sweetwater and Melissa for their expertise and quick response to my needs.

What happened to Mackie

By Jeff from Delaware on April 28, 2022

I bought the 16 channel version a couple months ago for live usage. I just set up today since Covid is ending. The FX are cheap sounding (they have a digital quality that you can't avoid) and the channel faders are loose and they wiggle (all of them). Feels like a toy when they are adjusted. I don't see it lasting long on the road. I've used mackie for decades. I am very disappointed.
