Easy to use!
IMHO, Radial produces some of the best DI's. This one meets those standards. Built like a tank. Easy to use, and dependable. You cannot go wrong here.
Indestructible Problem-Solver
I've bought three of these so far for personal use. Not cheap, but worth it. If you're patching in audio live from random sources like computers or old consumer gear at the last-minute ("sound art" shows, anyone?), just under two pounds of passive gear can save you from packing (and risking) hundreds of pounds of active electronic insurance. I've also inserted them into pro-designed signal chains to solve impedance and ground-loop issues that cropped up after the installers drove away. I haven't yet personally run over one with a truck, but I really do expect it would survive.
Good old Radial
As always this radial performed perfectly. Cleaned up a sound source and I'm sure we will get decade's of use out of it.
The "Swiss Army Knife" of direct boxes
So you're out on a gig and the client decides they need background music on your break. Oh! What to do? If you have a CD player or some other outdated piece of playback technology, you can use this to run it through your PA System!!! Seriously, this box works just fine as a regular DI box, but can really save the day when you have an odd piece of equipment to run through your setup.
Now this is a proper AV DI
Low noise, ground lift options, multiple in/out options, pad, built like a tank - the perfect passive DI.
Silenced Studio Monitor Hum/Noise
I've been a huge fan of Radial ever since I got the JDI direct box for my bass. So when we moved into a new house and my studio monitors would not stop buzzing, I went with a Radial Pro solution.
Even though I use a high-end Furman power conditioner, shielded cables, no fluorescent lights, etc. the problem would not go away until I hooked up the ProAV2. The moment I plugged the box into the chain it was magical silence.
I cannot recommend Radial Pro and the ProAV2 enough.
Excellent Swiss army knife solution
Bought to of these for separate systems to connect to a mixer/interface/etc. I use one with Kali powered speakers before a preamp to a set of monitors.....fabulous solution when using a phone/pod/etc for playback. Clean power before it hits the interface/preamp.
Great little DI box for any AV connection
Removed all sorts of noise from a laptop and phone connection from the signal into the mixer. Made an unusable source totally useable. And of course, it's bomb proof.
Just What the Doctor Ordered
This is a well built piece of kit that does what I expect.
The Pro AV2 serves duty in my home studio allowing me to run my keyboard or my stereo equipment into my DAW & monitoring system through the low impedance inputs of my babyface pro. This dramatically lowered the noise floor over the high impedance
path on the babyface with either source. Super happy camper here!
Pristine Input
If you are looking for a device that will provide complete noise free connectivity for all of your computers, phones, tablets, whatever, into your sound system then, this is the ticket. It is well worth the expense and I highly recommend it.
Fix a problem for me
I needed a way to feed tracks from client's iPhone directly to my Dangerous Monitoring system with transformer isolation to protect the valuable equipment. I was using another cheaper product for this, but it had an annoying hum, even with no input.
Using the 3.5mm input on the ProAv2 in conjunction with a small stereo amp I am able to get the tracks played out of my glorious HD-1's with absolutely no introduced noise.
Sounds great and protects your equipment
I just bought my third Radial ProAV2 direct in box. This DI will rid you of hum problems related to improper grounding. It will also match impedance when connecting instruments, iPads, laptops or any other devices to an audio interface, PA system, or recording console. This is what you would expect from a DI. Many groups use sound tracks when they perform, and they get those sound tracks from a laptop or iPad. When this is done it is very important that the connection provides DC voltage ISOLATION from phantom power on a mixer or audio interface. I have seen at least four groups say when they connected their iPad or laptop to a PA system that it made a "pop" noise and the sound never worked from their computer or iPad again. What happened is that someone activated phantom power on their connection and the 48 volt DC phantom power destroyed the audio output circuitry of the iPad or laptop. The Radial ProAV2 provides electrical ISOLATION from the 48V DC power of a mixer or audio interface. The phantom power is normally switched on in banks of 8 inputs on many mixers so even if someone switched on phantom power for an adjacent input, it would still fry the audio output of your laptop, iPad or other device which is not made for that voltage to be applied to the audio output connections. The Radial ProAV2 should be a part of ANY device connected to a Mixer or anything that provides 48V phantom power in order to protect your equipment from their 48V phantom power inputs. This 48 volt phantom power isolation along with all the other features of the Radial ProAV2 such as eliminating ground loop hum, using the Pad feature to match signal levels and the ability to connect just about anything, is why you need to be using one of these DI's. In my opinion, Radial makes the best DI's in the world. They are used in recording studios and live sound venues around the world and for good reason. They sound good and solve many of these issues with connectivity and they will also protect your equipment in the process. I wouldn't use any other brand of DI for these reasons.
Radial Pro AV2
Did a fantastic job getting rid of noise from computers and media plugged into board. Money well spent.
Works as it should work
No words, I use this for backing tracks from the 3.5 mm, no noise. Perfect.
Radial = Tank
These things must be built to a military standard. I don't think my bass player could break this thing.
Bullet proof, high quality materials, built to last a lifetime.
Radial ProAV2
Gets the job done. Makes whatever music you're playing more accurate sounding for better mixing. Top of the line build quality ensures many years of trouble free service. Radial makes a DI for pretty much any imaginable application. Be sure to check out their website. Never use an adapter again to run unbalanced signals to your board or powered studio monitors. Balanced is the way to go. This DI will get you there.
Awesome Direct Box
I have used many DI boxes over the years but the Radail ProAV3 is the best for audio / video. There is no noise at all. The imaging of the audio is fantastic, sharp, clear, and with definition. AWESOME! is all I can say,
Works like a charm
After trying another type of direct box and found it lacking I decided to try something different. Kurt at Sweetwater recommended this box and we have very pleased. Without changing any of the default switches any hum we previously had between our media PC and the A&H digital board was gone. I would recommend this direct box to anyone who is looking for a quality interface between your PC and sound board.
Indestructible
Built like a TANK! So much quality built into these D.I.s All the connections you need for any peripheral sound gear. Super quiet too.
Totally Solid Stereo DI Box
Solid construction. No 9V batteries or phantom power nonsense. Does the job right. Tried this side by side to some cheaper options, and the ProAv does not disappoint. Plug and play ease of use. Perfect for electronic musicians/solo rappers who just want to hook up a laptop, phone, MP3 player, or interface to a mixer. Perfect for keys players too. For the price and the quality there aren't many better options.
Radial AV2
This is the DI I have been looking for! This little goodie is what I have been missing in the studio. Those unbalanced AV inputs are converted into a great noise free balanced signal that I can feed right into my DAW (SONAR) If you are looking for a solution to this problem, the Radial AV2 is the answer. Everyone should have at least one of these in their Audio toolbox!
Pro AV2
Rock solid and perfect DI for any application.
Perfect Solution to a Unique Problem
This IO device helped solve a long-standing issue in our situation. We had tried to go wireless is sending a signal from the computer/presentation software to our mixer and amp which was some 50 feet away due to our site requirements.
We had outside interference that we dealt with from time to time...unacceptable.
The Radial ProAV2 immediately and completely solved that problem. With the advice of Jeff our service advisor we now have an installation with zero problematic issues. Thanks so much
A very handy box
I bought this DI mainly for its 1/4" inputs to tame one of my samplers -- I use the Roland SP404 and SP555 and they tend to be quite hot -- and I've found that the additional RCA and 1/8" inputs also come in very handy for a bunch of other devices. The D2 is great too, but for a couple more bucks the AV2 really can come in handy.
the BEST DI
I'm a huge fan of Radial's stuff. First of all, it looks sexy, and is sturdy and well designed. Their DI's are always clean and sound great. On this one i especially appreciated the multiple inputs (RCA, stereo 1/8") and the ground lift and pad switches.
Love it!
This is the piece if you interface to computers without a soundcard. I've used other PC DI boxes for getting sound out of a Mac or PC and always seem to battle some kind of buzz or noise issue that other DI boxes can't eliminate. The Pro AV2 has not failed me yet. This is clear proof that you get what you pay for. The other plus is its weight. In my field, I have a workspace of video and audio interfaces and cables running everywhere. Cheap DI boxes tend to slide around if cables are tugged or computers are shifted - Not the Pro AV2... It's a brick! So nice not to have to gaff tape something down.
New Sound Gear Purchase
We were super excited to get our new gear last week. As a mobile church, the new equipment has help to streamline our set up and breakdown times. My sales associate has been awesome and based on his recommendation of a quality sound system we came in under budget. The customer service has been super each time I ordered products and with FedEx shipping my packages have arrived on time each time!
Thanks for the candy treats guys, keep upf the excellent work!
Radial ProAV2
A sublime piece of gear. Knock off $50 and it's a 5 star beast!
Radial PROAV2 DI
Perfect for my needs! Love its rugged construction, reliability and flexibility. Excellent piece of equipment.
Radial Pro AV2
It is just as advertised, a great DI for laptop, Ipad, Ipod, and DVD audio. It also works great if you need to use a CD player that only has RCA outs.
Radial ProAV2 Direct Box
I was hesitant to use a DI box until I read up on consumer electronics vs pro audio electronics. After purchasing the RadialPro AV2 I was sold on how great my recorded music sounded, now the iPad music is crystal clear. I'm sending the outputs (XLR) to a QSC touchmix 16 and I'm using 2 input mic channel's. With those inputs you can pan, eq, or put some fx in if you want. I tried using the 1/4" and 3.5 mm try to the inputs but the RCA inputs (R&L) are definitely the ones you have to use. This is also explained in the pamphlet that comes with the unit, which states for consumer electronics you should use the RCA. Overall it works great for me. Thanks again Kyle for the help.
Gotta love Radial
Does exactly what I expected it to do. Can't go wrong with Radial.
Highly recommended and now I know why.
This was recommended to us by the sound experts who installed our sound system at our church.
This DI replaced 2 mono DI boxes we had hooked up through the 3.5mm phono output to 1/4" connectors from our iMac to a Yamaha digital soundboard in our church system.
Prior to hooking up this box, we always had radio interference from a local radio station that came through a groundloop created by the stereo hookup. We also had signifcant distortion from the sound of the computer if the volume output was set at even a modest level.
When I opened the box I was immediately impressed by how sturdy and rugged this DI box felt.
We plugged it and immediately the groundloop disappeared. The pad function allowed us to run the computer audio at full volume in order to make it error proof and the sound quality greatly improved.
With as many distractions as there are with volunteers running sound in a challenging sanctuary environment it's nice to know we have one less thing to worry about.
Great so far.
Bought this last minute for a tour as a' just in case'. Have used it over and over in every possible configuration. No issues. a bit expensive as far as passive DI's go-but I know it will work.
punch
Didn't think that a passsive DI box could deliver.. but now my backgrounds have the fullness, punch and gain that I'm used to hearing.
The ipad just doesn't have the nessesary gain needed to power a pro system without help. The Pro AV2 has given me what I was listening for.
Quiet and efficient DI
The Radial ProAV2 direct box is a great solution for mulitmedia uses and converting unbalanced signals to your amp/fx chain. The one caveat about the ProAV2 is it cuts the signal by -20db automatically, the external pad button will cut another -15db as well. In my conversations with Radial about the signal drop (which isn't mentioned in any way in the product documentation) they suggested the J48 DI as a replacement.
