Great Bang for the Buck

By Dan from Omaha, NE on February 16, 2024 Music Background: Production Manager

Hello! I purchased 6 of these to use across our stage, and spaced them out about every 6 feet. They really helped HF coverage in the concert hall for a choral performance. They also helped pick up some of the stringed instruments and grand piano. Rolled off at 200Hz, they add the presence needed in the room. For the price point, they can't be beat.

Much Bang for Buck

By Francesca on August 17, 2023

I had borrowed this style of mic for a previous show and was so impressed by how clearly they pick up the voices on stage that I had to invest in some for my space. The specific application is to reinforce unmiced youth actors in small scale musical theater. I'm sure with a larger band that we will have to go back to body mics but its really great to reinforce the eduction about how to project when we are able.

Good

Need Live Sound? Then, this is the MIC!

By Richard Schweitzer from Dalton, MA on May 7, 2022 Music Background: Drums, percussion, live sound, mixing

Like most churches and venues, live sound is the way we have had to go. Even though we mic'd everything, but we still did not have the live sound we needed. I tried several overhead MICs that are awesome for drums. Yep. They worked. However.....they are not inconspicuous, they all needed a standard mic mount and they are not inexpensive. So, I looked to something that was close to invisible, picked up the worship in the audience without being noticed and most important captured the natural sound of the room without coloring it. This is it.

SETUP: EQ: Rolled off 80 at Hz. Removed about 5 DB at 1K, gentle Q. Increased 3K about 2 DB and rolled off the high end at 12K.

SOUND: Panned left and right. Added a few DB to our Aux mix for the live stream. Just enough to almost not notice, but enough to pick up the beauty of the audience in worship.

INSTALLATION: Used tie wraps mounted to the steel frame of our building.

Many thanks to my Sweetwater Rep, James Wroblewski; I asked some questions and he pointed me in this direction.

Great mics.

Installed temporarily in sanctuary for Dinner Theater production. Picks up actors voice nicely.

Pro 45's Rock for WINGsReality EDU!

By Michael Lessard from Ellsworth Maine on January 16, 2018 Music Background: Musician, engineer

We have been using an array of Pro 45 mics for over a year now. We are an aviation academic institution, live streaming our coursework from our classroom environment. In our blended learning environment, classroom students interact with distance students who join the live classroom in real time. The Pro 45's hang from the ceiling to mic the students in the room for online broadcast. They have exceptional sound quality and range. The room is well covered by the mic array. We just bought another one to hang over my teaching position as a back up for my lavalier broadcast mic. All of the mics are plugged into a USB mixing board. They work great in the room and over the internet!

Great budget choir mics!

By Dan from California on November 28, 2016

These are amazing mics for recording choirs! That's what I bought them for, and they do the job! Fed them into a Korg MR1000 portable DSD recorder.
I don't have any complaints so far, and they are very easy to use and place. Convenient, thin, flexible 25 ft cable hard wired. Thank you Sweetwater, and thank you Ryan Holquist for reinforcing my thoughts!

Exceeded Our Expectations

By Chet from Hillsdale, NJ on January 6, 2015 Music Background: Pastor

We purchased a pair of these last minute for use in a large high school auditorium to pickup a children's chior. We were very impressed with the sound quality and especially surprised that we had not feed back issues at all, which was not the case with another set of more expensive mics we were also using in a separate set up on stage.

Wow. Just wow.

By Brad Confer from Peachtree City on October 11, 2014 Music Background: teacher, producer, etc.

I'm recording with this right now. In the same room as I'm typing right now. But I'm not afraid of getting clicking keyboard noises in the mic. Why? Best off axis rejection I've ever heard. Does my at4033 sound better on vocals? Yes. But good luck not getting ridiculous amounts of bleed. I've got one pro 45 rib height on a standing guitarist pointed down at the guitar. Ok, I just tried to mix just for kicks even though this is supposed to be scratch and I don't see it happening. So let's say for quick demo work and scratch with off angle rejection or live situations with rejection these are a steal at 99$

We both, myself and the artist, decided that for quick demos these can't be beat. But we'll not be doing the full demo with these.

Excellent Service & Price!

By Bill McCrary from Hardinsburg, Indiana on April 19, 2014 Music Background: Pastor

We just purchased two (2) choir mics and cables. Our salesman "Bob" gave us a quote and the price was very reasonable. We installed them the week before Easter. When testing them we were not only amazed, but delighted that they work so well. Thanks Sweetwater for offering great products at a great price! Bro. Bill

Exactly what I needed

By Tom Butler from United States on April 2, 2013 Music Background: Live sound and video production engineer for a church.

I used two of these in a gymnasium hidden on fake trees in a church theatrical performance. I also had two more expensive units hidden around the set. These had the right amount of sensitivity to pick up voices from fifteen feet away. Yet I had little issue with feed back compared to the $200 mics. I will probably be buying four more of these in the near future.

Audio-Technica Pro 45

By Steven Wacker from Virgina Beach, VA United States on April 28, 2014 Music Background: Church Audio tech

This mic worked great for our church play and worked fantastic for our small choir. It was easy to hang as we lower and raise it we did have to add a weight to it.

Pro 45, Not Just for Theatre Use

By Jeffrey Hubert from Los Angeles, CA on April 2, 2008 Music Background: Bavab Bavab, Recording Engineer, Live Sound Engineer

I have six of these Pro 45 mics and I am very pleased with their performance and sound. At first I used them for sound reinforcement during rigorous theatre performances. Then I permanently installed a pair in my recording studio and have found that they make a great pair for recording the room sound in stereo. Plus they are discrete in design and hang from the ceiling, not to get in the way of your recording clients. Highly recommended.

Highly recomended, good specs

By David in Baja from Baja, CA, Mexico on March 31, 2009 Music Background: Live Sound Engineer

great product. I don't find anything flat about it's response( though its specs indicate it is very flat) but I love it's clarity and what I can do with what it picks up! Perfect mic for the $. who knows, maybe it really sounds like that 10' up in the air in our house!

I'm using the signal from this as a blend for live recording, I pick up the sound in our house with this mic and lay the soundboard signal on top of it; with the right eq on this mic it makes for a great rich, clear mix. Without the eq it sounds like it's in a tube.
