The most underrated compressor on the market
"Dynamics processor with musical soul"
Wow, this thing was NOT kidding. U-he does it again with their superb sounding plugins. Simply put, it just sounds great. But you get immense analog compression and colouring along with very precise control setups. Presswerk truly sticks out compared to the sea of other compressors available. The bass response is incredible, and it has a very musical pumping release on it. Presswerk is often a centerpiece in my mixes, as it's compression REALLY sticks out and adds power. The saturation in it is also awesome sounding, saturation amount is linkable to compression amount to make your transients hit harder.
Normally presets on compressors tend to be useless. Especially presets on "analog" compressors. But Presswerk goes so deep, that the presets often modify the tone very heavily. I quite like the [Vox Comp Warm + Airy] preset on vocals. Name does as described.
As a bus compressor, it's not that good sounding for most material, doesn't quite give that "British glue" sound. But it has multiple "ui modes" which are basically many linked settings and parameters of the primary menu together, to create a whole different flavour of compression of the basic settings. I really like the limiter setting, but it's far from transparent, as expected.

Great compressor and always top notch service from Sweetwater! This compressor has alot of different types of compressors in it! From API 2500 TO DBX 160. Don't be intimidated by the looks of it. Highly recommended!
