I've relied on the Ableton live tuner for so long I forgot how nice a simple pedal could be. The Polytune 3 is easy to setup and use. It mutes during tuning and the polytune feature is great to assess your overall tuning.

I've been using the old standard tuners for ages. Hand held chromatic, headstock clip on's, etc. but when it came to tuning or detuning during a set it always took too long or had trouble with ambient room noise. That is no longer a problem as this tuner is fast, easy to use and easy to read even in dim light. I wish I would have picked it up sooner. Thanks for the fast shipping. Sweetwater never disappoints.

This is my first tuner pedal. In the past, I have relied on a clip-on tuner which has done the job adequately. I will have to say that the Polytune 3 seems to be a bit more accurate than the clip-on tuner and tuning my bass with it is much quicker than my old tuner. I am not sure about the polyphonic option. Perhaps it works good with a guitar, but I haven't found it to be useful for the bass, so I stick with the old method of just tuning each string individually. Re-tuning or going to alternate tunings between songs are a breeze. Love this new addition to my rig.

I have been so frustrated with the built-in tuners not working well, so this small, powerful tuning pedal is perfect. I love how it works, including the polytune feature.

The polyphonic aspect of this tuner is a huge game changer. It seems like it does a good job, maybe not 100% accurate, but it gets you really close very quickly. It makes it a lot easier and faster mid set to check where you're at tuning-wise. The buffer aspect is really nice too, helps clean up your sound quite a bit. Hands down the best pedal tuner on the market.

There is no other option in my opinion. Just buy this tuner.

The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. The free phone app tuner that could never seem to register the E-string... that was a problem. The clip-on I bought was better. But this thing...! Perfect. Not many reviews or videos I could find mentioned how it works for bass players, but it's just the press of a button to switch to bass mode and it remembers even after disconnecting power. I'm currently using bass strobe mode as that seems to offer the most accuracy. Does it cost 5x what the clip-on costs? Yes. Is it worth it? Definitely.

This tuner is super accurate. I've always tuned my acoustic using a head mounted tuner. It always sounded tuned when I was done. Then I tried plugging this puppy in. NOW I know what a perfectly tuned acoustic guitar sounds like. Much more precise. Quite the difference. Not only that, but you can tune all 6 strings at the same time. One strum and this tells you the tuning of all 6 strings. Then if you want you can fine tune each individual string. What more could you ask for.

I've been using this pedal for the past 5 years and I never build a board without it. Super accurate tuner for bass and guitar, power-out jack to daisy chain smaller board setups, a switchable buffer - and if you need to switch out the 9V battery, you can open the back with a pick or a quarter in a pinch.

It also can allow me to add an extra pedal if I'm using my larger board with the VooDoo Labs PedalPower2 - instead of only 8 power jacks, I have 9+ with this lil guy on board!

Vast improvement from the tuner that I replaced. Extremely precise with very little flutter. I love the fact that you can quickly tune by strumming every note and quickly detect an out of tune string or strings.

Liked it so much that I bought a second so I don't have to move it around my setup. Always on and buffered.

I have used the Peterson robostomp for a long time now but a friend of mine recommended the Polytune 3 to me. I bought it the last time I stopped into Sweetwater and put it on my board. It makes tuning so much faster between songs. Strum the open strings and you know almost instantly which string or strings is the culprit. (Always the G string, right?) Anyway, I like it so much, I sold my robostomp. Put this tuner on your pedalboard now. It is worth every penny.

The ability to see all six strings simultaneoulsly is very impressive. It's a great time saver for tuning quickly. Also, I used it to intonate my Fender Stratocaster (moving the saddles forward or back) for precise accuracy. I am very is is truly a great product and I am truly happy I pruchased the the tuner.

This replaced my BossTU-2. I needed a specific value front end buffer for my pedal chain. Buffer input and output values are spot-on. I run a TC polytune 3 tuner with built in BONA FIDE buffer (the bonus) on the front end of my pedalboard, and a stand alone BONA FIDE buffer before the amp. When the pedals are all off, it sounds the same as a 10ft cord going straight into the amp. Tone suck is gone!

While a subjective opinion, I find that the polytune 3 in single string or strobe mode appears to be more accurate than the Boss TU-2 that it replaced, particularly when intonating my guitars.

I am very pleased with this product! It is easy to read and accurate. I like recording acoustic and electric guitars and bass with direct line cables, this is a very quick and easy way to keep them in tune.

I have both the Unitune clip on for acoustic instruments and now the Polytune 3. Both are at the top of their classes. The ultra-accurate strobe feature (+/- 0.1 cent) is crucial for tuning my electric 12-string. Having it tuned this precisely allows for slight detuning during performances that is imperceptible to the ear. The silent strum feature to quickly determine out of tune strings (doesn't work on 12-string) makes live tuning quick and non-distracting. Having a buffered pedal at the very front of the pedal chain gives clarity and presence to the overall pedal output signal. You really can tell an audible difference... just bypass this pedal to the next true bypass one in the chain and you'll see what I mean.

I bought this because I play a Strandberg and the clip on tuner will not stay on the very short headstock also the intonation is near perfect due to the accuracy of the tuner also I use a vocal harmony machine so the pitch is nearly perfect for the harmony parts also this is very quiet in the pedal chain

I haven't got mine yet but my rhythm guitar player has one and they're a definite must if you like keeping your tuning accurate without all the trouble. A BIG 5 stars and thanks to Brandon at Sweetwater.

No ragerts with this purchase- my Peterson is too big and doesn't like piezos. This pedal clicks on softly for tuning and has a rather unique way of letting you know whether or not you're in tune with two colors that you can easily see from a distance in dark surroundings. Never coming off my board.

What's not to like? It's a great simple tuner that does exactly what it should. Probably the best and most accurate I've ever used. Sweetwater hits it out of the park once again! They even send me little bags of candy every time I place an order… Atomic fireball ;)

The Polytune tuner is great when you wear trifocals. I can take a quick look down while on stage and get a true and accurate read of each string. The LED dial is very easy to see. A must have Pedal.

A simple tool, but so important to have in your everyday arsenal. A friend has been suggesting I add this to my collection for a while and I finally did. It is very easy to use, clear readout and clean appearance. Special note: You learn something new everyday. If you leave it connected by cable to any other pedal, even if not actually playing music, it will drain your 9 volt battery overnight! Of course this is well documented online, but until you experience it you never choose to search the issue. I hope this review saves a few of you a few batteries.

I was building a pedal board and needed a fast and easy tuner for it. Had been using an old Clarion from the 80's and a Snark for years. Hated them both for quick tune ups between songs. So I broke down and got what I hoped would be better. Well, it is waaayyy better. I can tune up in a fraction of the time using a foot stomp is way faster than the tuner on my Helix or having to take your hand off the guitar to turn on a Snark for instance. The mute-to-tune function is perfect as it has no audible pops. My favorite thing about this pedal is the display/user interface! The "line" of tiny LED's are red if you are off pitch and smoothly increase brightness to green as you approach pitch. I am color blind and have poor vision but with the red next to a brightening green LED lines it looks out of focus but when you get to pitch, it looks in focus - clever and super easy to make sense of it- hard to explain though! Also, you can strum all open strings, and the display shows something else entirely. It tells you which strung is off pitch at a glance - this is super handy for guitars with a floating bridge. You know when you tune all the strings the first time through, only to find out the strings you started with have moved slightly flat/sharp? This tells you which ones went off and you don't have to iterate the re-tune process as much. Love it and highly recommend this tuner - it gets the most use of any of the other pedals on the board.

From a Snark to the PolyTune. The Snark is surprisingly accurate, but the PT is better for a full tune. I also like that you can tune from a full strum. Worth the money

Have owed this and the other great tuner on and off over the years and I tend to like the brightness and features on the Polytune the best.

I've had several pedal tuners over the years, and this is by far my favorite. Works just as it should, and it stays on all the time on my board.

I have been playing for decades with one of those tuners that clips to my instruments' headstock. Works okay, but I wanted something that muted the signal to the amp while I tuned and spared the audience from the pain. Bought this pedal on sale and it far exceeds my expectations. I really appreciate the option of choosing between different tuning modes, and being able to switch between guitar and bass modes. The pedal is responsive, quick, and accurate. The fact that you can strum the instrument and the pedal will show you which strings are out of tune and whether they are flat or sharp is a bit mind boggling--how do they do that? Anyway, I should have purchased this pedal years ago. Way faster than the clip-on tuner I've been using.

This is a great pedal to put first on your board. I have mine set to display always on. Acts as a buffer and I find it accurate. So easy to see!! I ordered a second one for a smaller board I'm building.

I'm very satisfied with this tuner. I replaced the Boss tuner on my pedalboard. The Polytone3 has a buffer, and also can power additional pedals. The display is much easier to see at live performances, because it adjusts brightness to the available lighting conditions. It mutes while tuning. Its low profile is much better on my pedalboard, because it is the same height as the EBS pedals that I use. It was the same or less cost as the Boss.
Even though it's not ideal to replace a component that is operational, I am very glad for this purchase.

Click on the tuner to disconnect from amp. Strum and I know right away which string needs to be slightly adjusted. Quick and easy!!!!

This tuner does it all. I like that I can use it as a stomp box, or throw a battery in it and use it like a handheld tuner. It handles all tunings with ease and is totally silent. It'll also power another pedal. Best tuner I've ever had.

This is the best tuner i have ever used as an inline pedal tuner.
I have some bench test equipment and the circuit measures up to everything the specs describe!
On the bench inline with my test equipment and service monitor the difference in accuracy was so slight that it was almost immeasurable! 1/1000th of a semitone, was spot on and this amazed me to no end.
Now that is quality!!
Polyphonic tuning mode with the buffer, just doesn't get any better!

I've owned a lot of tune/troinics in my years as i am sure everyone else has.
So i saw this one and thought "what the heck"..
I ordered it and in the flash of a moment, it arrived because of Sweetwater's lightning fast shipping.
So i hook it up and boy was i surprised by the different configurations this pedal is capable of!
I was so impressed that i hooked it up on the bench and chained it to my bench scope/tuner to see what kind of sensitivity differences were between the too. It was almost immeasurable and so close that it made no difference to me at all. This thing is good! TC really knows their stuff.
Well worth the asking price Sweetwater has them priced at. Get one, you won't be disappointed.

I really love this pedal! It Works beautifully, and I am just digging the Buffer mode, easy to use and EASY to see the display ( which is what us old Folks need) and the options are really useful as I use a few different tunings, and I really like the strum all six strings mode to see which ones need a tweak. You will ever need for any electric application. Extremely accurate, easy to use. True bypass that you can disable for long runs. This thing rules. Has settings for drop tuning, all the way to b standard, and drop d options as well. If you need a tuner, this just might be the best one that exists.

No qualms with this pedal! Its hard to give a review on a tuner past "it tunes accurately", but this pedal is really awesome. It handles drop B with no problem. The controls are really straightforward and easy to adjust on-the-fly.

This is a fantastic pedal. It intuitively switches from poly mode to single string depending on how you are strumming or plucking. It's also a buffer which helps for long cable runs. Its easy to use and I absolutely love it.

This seems to be the standard for gigging guitar players, and I can see why. It's easy and fast to use and can also function as a kill switch between songs. I haven't explored the other tuning options (drop D is the only one I'd use) but they are available if you need them.

Purchased the Polytune 3 as I needed a new pedal tuner to tune and set the intonation on by bass and six string guitars. Works great and would recommend for anyone looking for a small compact pedal tuner.

Clip ons are great and convenient. I don't keep them on the headstock so you have to take it on and off when it's time to tune. It's been a joy to have the polytune 3 always plugged in, first in the chain and now only a button press away. Would highly recommend this offering from tc electronics no matter what your tuning, it's very quick to find the notes. Plus you have an optional buffer. You can't go wrong with this tuner.

I wasn't looking for a new tuner pedal because my little Amazon brand one did the job just fine, until I discovered buffer pedals were a thing. Then I stumbled across the PolyTune 3 and saw that it's a super bright, visible tuner pedal with a buffer BUILT IN. I made the order and can't believe how long I went without a buffer. This isn't optional, if you have more than two pedals or a lot of cable you need a buffer like the one built into this tuner. I have eight pedals on my board and have been fighting for every ounce of clarity I can get, finally the fight is over. I can hear every effect ring out clearly, my highs are crystal clear, and my lows have been de-muddied. Not to mention I now have a super visible and feature packed tuner pedal. You have nothing to lose with this tuner, it'll boost your clarity, keep you tuned and of course is a great mute switch. Shout out to Zach Landrum for always taking care of my questions and letting me know when my order is on the way.

I've been using the clip-on version of this tuner for a couple years and they're absolutely the best and most accurate. I wanted a pedal tuner for my pedal board and finally go this one. Super easy to see, even on a dark stage and incredibly accurate. I build guitars and have a Peterson AutoStrobe 490 on my bench. This pedal is just as accurate and perfect for stage or studio.

My first stompbox tuner, display is bright and clear, user interface is pretty intuitive, feels well built, if you care the switch is pretty silent and the tactile feedback is subtle (compared to other louder and "heavier" clicking ones) I use it for a 5 string bass tuned standard and have no issues whatsoever registering the low B string, widely recommend for this type of bass since it was my main concern while researching for the right tuner.

I had a cheap tuner for years, preferring to spend my money on flashier pedals. I now have been using this every day and it has changed my practice time completely. Just buy one.

I really like this tuner, i can see it great. I have Macular Degeneration, so if there is to much going on with the dial part i have a hard time seeing it, i know that there are other good tuners out there but this works great for me.

A great time saver and tool to have for any guitar player. Being able to strum all my strings and immediately see which strings are out of tune makes tuning quick and easy. The buffer inside (which is disabled out of the box) helps maintain your signal integrity in a complex rig. Its also a great mute switch.

I have used many tuners both pedals and head stock clip ons. The TC Polytune 3 is the best IMHO. It is convenient to see the tuning of all of your strings with one strum for quick and accurate tuning. The display is large and bright. It is dead quiet in your chain and dead quiet when tuning. Truly a must have tuner.

Nothing but great things so far. Really dig the buffer added to my chain. Can tune all of my strings at once. I can set the tuning I want with a button, which saves me some time either remembering or googling what string is supposed to be where. Added bonus, the LED screen is brighter than bright.

You could get the mini polytune to save space but then you may need to buy an additional buffer depending on your board. This has you covered. A tuner and buffer in one. It has helped eliminate any noise in my signal chain. The tuner is easy to read and you can daisy chain from it if needed. Plus with various tuning styles I can play whatever I'm in the mood for.

I recently started doing my own guitar setups and bought this tuner so I will have accurate tuning when intonating my guitars. This tuner works great. It is very accurate and easy to use. I have bought two of these impressive tuners since they were introduced (for different boards). The buffer is not entirely without effect in my rig (minor) but can be turned off. Also, this innovative little unit features a power out-- saving precious outlets on your power supply. For gigging musicians this impressive little tool works fast and is built for road use. Give it a try before going to the more expensive and more difficult to use options available.

I've been making do with a chromatic tuner for over 30 years. However, the Polytune 3 (a strobe tuner) is way more precise. When I got it the first thing I did was check the intonation on my 3 electrics: one was good, one was off, and one was way off. The Polytune made it easy to fix the intonation (fretted note on 12th fret = harmonic on 12th fret) precisely. I also like how you can just brush all the strings lightly and see if any are off, all at once. I've set mine up first in chain so when I click it on, the other pedals and amp get no signal, which will one day spare the audience, and in the meantime spares me having to click amp to standby to tune.

Minor issue with documentation is that it doesn't tell you that it can take a battery - but it can.

Very pleased with the performance of the Polytune 3. The speed of the tuning indicator far exceeded my expectations. The polyphonic mode also allows me to see which string is out at a glance and then go straight to the offender which will save valuable moments during a live performance. All this at a sweet price from Sweetwater. Very happy customer. I will definitely continue to fill my gear needs from my Sales Engineer Joe James at Sweetwater.

Great tuner pedal, super reliable....

This tuner exceeded my expectations. Love all of the features, especially the polytune feature. As a 5 string player, I love being able to strum all the strings at once to see if any are out of tune. The readout LEDs are excellent, and the intensity setting changes with the light conditions. I appreciate that there is no signal drain when I use this pedal and it automatically cuts your output volume to a mute setting when you engage the pedal and tune your instrument. I had previously purchased the clip-on version of this tuner and wondered if I would feel any buyers remorse in getting a pedal that does the same thing. I have absolutely no regret in that regard. There are a number of features of the pedal that are better than the clip on, such as the size of the screen, and the seeing the polytune readout in front of you on the floor is more intuitive to read as well.

Works perfectly one string at a time or strum them all to see exactly what string is flat or sharp. Definitely recommend

I don't use many stomp pedals but the Polytune 3 I ordered is now my go to tuner when I'm playing, practicing or adjusting a bridge saddle. Shout out to Sweetwater, thanks for the instant shipping priority system. I never liked the clip style tuners on a guitar headstock & I hate making listeners suffer the agony of tuning & stretching strings. The Polytune 3 is small, it has a power output jack that allows a daisy chain cable to a looper that I use. The visuals in the display are clear & easy to read. There's even a strum function to quickly & silently check the tuning of all 6 strings at once. All good. We tune because we care.

So, while trying to decide on a good pedalboard tuner, I was waffling between the polytune3, Boss TU-3/Waza, and several others. Of course, Sweetwater came through with a sale price on the polytune3, so I nabbed it for about twenty bucks less than full dime, so that's always great.

It takes a standard negative-tip 9v power plug, so it went right into my new pedalboard with no issues.

I stepped on the switch, plugged in my guitar, and since it's already set to standard tuning, I was able to tune up with no problem, and zero configuration. You can do a quick visual by strumming all six strings at once, and the polytune3 will show you which string is flat or sharp, by showing a couple of red dots above/sharp or below/flat a green line for all strings. That's a pretty neat trick.

Of course, you can also tune each string individually. It shows you a green line sweeping left to right, with a bright green vertical line in the center, signifying 'in tune' and a vertical red line to the left to show if it's flat, or to the right to show it's sharp. When you've got a straight, lone vertical green line, then it's in tune. Super easy.

By default, it mutes everything downstream of it on the pedalboard when you turn it on. So, when tuning, you won't hear anything out of the amp. I suppose that's for stage or studio use. I don't really care either way in the bedroom. The instructions sheet is a one-pager, and says to visit tcelectronic to download the full manual. You can switch between three modes - 1) True Bypass, 2) Buffered Bypass, and 3) Buffered Bypass
w/Display Always On. I may switch to it always being on, as that's easiest for use in the mancave, but you have to unscrew the backplate and set a dipswitch for that, so I'll have to try when I'm more motivated. It works fine in default mode for now. If you press and hold the footswitch, it will toggle between standard tuning and drop-D tuning, for all of us SRV wannabes, I suppose.

The display is nice and bright, and very easy to see. The specs say there's an ambient light sensor built in, so it should automagically get more or less bright as you need. I just use it in the mancave, and it works great indoors, so I can at least vouch for that use case.

Looks like there's a USB port in the back, which I assume is used to update the firmware? The tuner worked fine out of the box, so I suppose I'll check the firmware version later, and make sure it's up to date.

So, that's it! The polytune3 works great, is super simple to use out of the box, and I got it on sale, so my wallet is happy. If you're looking for a solid tuner, you can't go wrong with this one.

I originally tried to save a few bucks and bought a different brand tuner pedal that was on sale at another vendor. I must have gotten a bum one, because I had to turn the volume w-a-ay up to get the tuner to hear anything. Sent it back and bought Polytune 3 from Sweetwater.

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure this is the best tuner in the world for anywhere near the price range. Has all the features and works like a charm. The poly mode is terrific: strum all the strings to get a quick read on which ones are out of tune. This not only sounds like a cool idea, but it truly works.

Single string mode is intuitive and accurate. And the fact that the tuner automatically recognizes whether you are wanting poly or single mode is great. No switch to flip or anything.

Then there is the hyper-accurate strobe display for single strings. Since I'm using it at home, not on stage, accuracy trumps speed for me, so I find myself keeping it on strobe most of the time. And yes (I wondered this before I bought it), the poly mode does work when strobe display is selected, though the poly mode is still using its standard display and accuracy either way.

Display is bold and highly readable, no problem there. Ability to run on battery is nice, which I gather is a primary difference between Polytune 3 and Polytune 3 Mini.

Everything about the look, feel, and functionality of the Polytune 3 says quality. Could not be more pleased.

I just bought this TC pedal tuner and I am over the moon satisfied with it. I also own the clip on version of the tuner and have been using that for the past few years. I am putting together a modest bass playing pedal board, with a goal of trying to minimize any additional noise, hums, etc. This pedal is Perfect. No noise when I engage the tuner, and no signal loss or extra noise at all at any point. the display adjusts to the light levels of the room you are in automatically. As a 5 string player, I really appreciate the test all string mode: one quick strum of the strings tells me if any strings are slightly out of tune. I honestly could not be happier with my purchase : )

I bought the original (version one) when they first came out years ago. I loved it. Only reason I sold it was that I wanted to do away with all my pedals at the time. Years later, I wanted to build a small pedal board. First thing that I was happy to put on my list was the tc electronic polytune 3. To me, they're just great. I personally love everything about them.

This the third one I own.
They are solid and road ready.

Selectable display modes, offsets and tunings are an excellent option.

I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a tuner with a good display and functional options.

Superior to all others in terms of being equivalent to relative tuning.

Great tuner, does the job!

It's extremely fast, easy to see and accurate, if you need a tuner for your board get it and don't look back... there are different brands that are good and some are as good as this one, none of them are better. I use it mostly for 6 strings, but it tunes bass just as good, finds the notes instantly and doesn't bounce around hunting... bottom line it won't make you angry....

I bought this on a recommendation for pedal steel guitar. With my Boss TU-2 I had to do a little by ear tuning after words to get it right. With the Poly Tune 3 it's spot on, and fast. The buffer sounds great as well.

I don't have a lot of experience with tuners aside from the headstock clip-on style and a VST tuner (from GVST called GTune; it is really quite good), so my opinion might count less than the next person's.

This is the best tuner I've ever used. Polyphonic tuning is very handy for a quick check and tuning individual strings works well. Tuning with this tuner is quick and accurate.

Great pedal, I used to come back from break early to check each string before playing. Now just strum all strings for a fast check. If one is out you know which one to go to quickly.

Over the years I've seen these TC tuner pedals on lots of pedalboards, but I wasn't necessarily excited about getting one. I now see why they're so well liked. In my studio they are easy to see, work well and look clean. They're quiet and the buffer had only positive effects on my tone. It's just a great product.

Seemed like the right thing to do ... start with a good tuner on my first pedal board. This one works great! easy to see. I'm happy with this purchase.

I love this tuner. I can strum all strings at once and it will indicate the string(s) that need to be brought to pitch. Of course, it also allows one to tune individual strings. In the off position, your amp will sound. When you press the button, the tuner turns on and bypasses the amp so you can tune in private and spare your listener. I believe this is a must have.

I have both the older Polytune and also this newer Polytune 3.
Purchased the new one because the old one was finally dedicated to a pedalboard.
When the time comes, the "3" will get dedicated to a new board also.
Both are great pedals and am happy with the fit, form and function.
The metal case makes it more durable for the road.
The LED display is excellent and easy to read.
The price range is also reasonable.
Also, compared to "clip-on" tuners, there is no comparison.
It doesn't suffer from noise or sensitivity issues and is battle-ready.

This thing rocks. I am not running through it as I just have it on the aux jack of my volume pedal. I have the tuner always on and I love how I can check the tune on all six strings quickly at once. Also has a Bona fide buffer on board, so you get 2 pedals in one!

Had an older Polytune and it finally started acting quircky after several years......This one works as it should.....The buffer thing is nice but in reality, you can set the old ones to be buffered too from inside. They just set this one as buffered per default. Great tuner ...period!

This is my first chromatic tuner and I am very satisfied with my purchase. The TC Electronic PolyTune 3 Polyphonic Guitar Tuner Pedal is simple to set up and use. This is the best tuner I've found, and I've tried a lot of them! The display is very bright and easy to see, even out in the sun. I've always had trouble with tuners and acoustic guitars, like the signal wasn't strong enough to register on the tuner well. No problem at all with the Poly Tune 3. I use the Baggs Venue DI for my acoustic guitars, love it! btw, and even though it has a built in tuner, I now start my chain with the Poly Tune 3, it's just so much easier and better tuning with it than the built in tuner from the Venue DI!

I have a Pitch Black on another pedalboard, and really like it, thought for my new build would try one of these.
PolyTune is very tolerant, fast, easy to read, and having a switchable buffer is an added bonus. Not sure you could ask for more out of a tuner.

Used for Electric Bass

Got mine at GC and couldn't seem to get it to work correctly. Downloaded the latest firmware and works like a charm now. Very easy to read even from a distance and the accuracy is unbelievable. I wanted to go with a BOSS Tuner (TC-3) but without 20/20 vision it's not very easy on your eyesight and if you're trying to tune on the fly it takes a little getting use to as well. Not a bad tuner by any means, I just found something I like a lot more.
Even the PolyTune mini is easier to see than some of the more well known brands and just as accurate if not more so than their competition.

Great solid functioning tuner

I wanted to add the accuracy of a pedal tuner as apposed to a clip on headstock tuner. The Polytune 3 is a well built feature packed tuner. The Bonafide Buffer is a nice addition along with the options of true bypass or buffered bypass. There are definitely no issues seeing this tuner on stage and it reads the notes in a snap.
I ran short of one power output from Voodoo Labs power supply after adding a coupe of pedals. The power output in the Polytune 3 solved the problem. I daisy chained from Polytune 3 to Octamizer pedal.
Polytune 3 is a solid pro pedal tuner.

I bought the TC Electric PolyTune 3 about one week ago and so far it works flawlessly. The sound comes through clear as a bell, it seems to tune accurately, and it was simple to set up - truly plug and play. I recommend this tuner without reserve.

Super responsive and easy to see, the added buffer is a no brainer. Cleans up and preserves your chain signal and takes up one less pedal slot.

I love this tuner. Very responsive and accurate. My only complaint is that it does not come with any directions. It can be set for two different tuning modes each for guitar or bass and with a true bypass or buffered bypass but all you get is a little quick-start guide that is almost useless. I had to google it to get a decent video explaining how to select the tuning mode and there is a pdf user manual online that they could have at least given a link to help.

I have had this tuner only a few weeks, but the convenience of the tuner always available keeps me in tune. I also have a Snark clip-on tuner which works very well, but when practicing it seems I leave it on a table and forget to attach/remove from my guitar, thus any tuning I just would tune it without a tuner. I cannot speak for the buffer feature of this tuner although it seems like something I will turn on and use someday. I own 5 electric guitars and one bass guitar. This tuner can tune all of them very quickly so I can get to work cranking out riffs! I can detune my guitars with ease since the awesome display is big and easy to use! There are more settings on this tuner than I can use as of now but can use later on with whatever acoustic guitar I will buy from sweetwater. Excellent tuner. It"s aweson to be able to not just tune your guitar one string at a time, but strum a chord and look for the strings that might be out of tune. And using it as a buffer is a big plus.

An extremely useful tuner pedal. I usually just use the chromatic tuner, but it has many other modes. I mainly bought it because of the buffer. Accurate and fast tuning. My only complaint is that the little switch inside to change between bypass and buffer mode is a little flimsy looking. Great pedal.

I have nothing but good things to say about this TC Electronic tuner very responsive and accurate even on drop D which is cool deeper tones I have noticed on other tuners is slow and to some that may not be an issue but I like to play my guitar not play with tuning it.

An indispensible part of my set up. I'd been using a clip on tuner for my bass and it was okay.... accurate, but when the battery would begin to fade the tone sensitivity would decrease. And after I got my guitar, the headstock had less real estate and I couldn't clip it on and have it stay. So, I bought the PolyTune and it is amazing. I love being able to strum and see which strings are out of tune and immediately go to those particular strings and tune them. Brilliant design.

The LED readout is bright and easy to see from a standing position-- goo graphics for ease of use.

Is soon as I received and UN-packaged it, I installed it right onto my pedal board. I tuned my guitars up immediately and it did its job superbly.

TC Electronic has done it again! Their products they are producing are top notch and unbelievably well priced and this pedal is no different! Although I already had a tuner on my board (Korg Pitch-black Advanced) which is an awesome tuner, I started noticing some tone "suckage" going on through all my true bypass pedals. That got me looking into buying a buffer pedal to put at the front of my chain to add back that sparkle in my tone I had lost. I really wasn't thrilled about taking up more room on my board considering it's almost full and there are still a couple more pedals I have been looking to put on it. I happened to stumble upon the PolyTune 3 that has their Bonafide buffer pedal built into the pedal. To get down to it, this pedal is awesome! Having the buffer on has given me back that lost tone, saved room on my board, and it's a great working tuner! If you are looking for a tuner and using it as true bypass, then you will be getting an awesome tuner. If you were like me and needed a buffer somewhere but are running out of room, this is a real space saver that sacrifices no quality what so ever! I highly recommend!!

Best tuner I ever used

This thing has 2 modes for tuning, with different accuracies: normal & strobe

Before I got this I thought I'd use the strobe setting because it's more accurate, but I've found that the normal setting is so accurate that if I pick softly, it's flat, & if I pick hard, it's sharp... so I try to pick a normal volume and go with that... anyways, what I'm saying is that the normal setting is plenty accurate!

Also I like leaving the LED lights on even when not muted hahaha & I use it ahead if my other pedals as a buffer

Have been using a Polytune 2 on my main board and love it. Was also using a Bonfide Buffer on the same board. Bought this and moved the P2 to my secondary board where my Wampler Tumnus serves as my buffer. The P 3 with buffer is at the beginning of my chain and I have the Bonafide Buffer after my dirt pedals and before mytime/modulation pedals. I love my tone. As a tuner, this pedal rocks. Bright and easy to read. Fast and accurate.

The Poly Tune 3 made a big difference in my rig. Brought the sparkle back in the top end. And the tuner display is bright and very accurate. One comment, when I got my unit the dip switches in the back were set to true-bypass and I was initially disappointed with the results. After I set the switches to buffered-bypass the improvement in tone was quite noticeable. Very happy with the product.

I spent some time planning my tuner pedal purchase. I've been using a Snark, but I've broken a couple of them already. And I've had situations where the sounds of other instruments were loud enough that it would get confused. So I wanted something durable that I could plug in to.

This thing is great. I don't like polyphonic tuner much. It'll sometimes have a bit of red on it when the string is dead on in monophonic mode, so I don't really trust it. Great feature for just a quick check-up between songs though.

The buffer vs true bypass options are great. Always on option is great. Very accurate. Very easy to read display.

I bought this tuner for the BonaFide Buffer to put first in the pedal chain. It's made a big difference in the signal to noise ratio and silenced some noisy true bypass pedals.

You'll need to go online to download the user manual, which is full of good info on getting the most out of this pedal.

I do my own setups, so I expect even more accurate intonation now with the Polytune 3's strobe setting.

I use this at the start of my signal chain on my bass pedalboard. This works great and now I can use my standalone Bonafide at the end of the chain to ensure no signal loss with long cable runs. All the usual tuner functions and pinpoint accuracy are still there so I would think this is pretty much the ultimate pedalboard tuner now. Get one of these you will not be disappointed.

This is a great tuner. I like the polyphonic feature where you strum the strings and see all six. What I didn't realize is that I can daisy chain to power the rest of my pedals.
This is is one of the reasons I own 10 tc pedals, with more to come in the future.

it does what you need it to, and it does it fast and great. The poly feature is really cool if you need to tune quick during/between songs you just give a strum and see which strings are out then dial those ones individually for a fast tune. Display is large and bright, has different selection modes on the back that are easily accessed to change tuning etc. Also has buffer mode that lets you run when your sound isn't muted. Fantastic pedal all around. Must have!

My only complaint is, and maybe it was just me, but the two power input/output wasnt labeled very well on the body. I wasn't sure which was which and the small single paper that came with it didn't tell me which was which. When I figured it out I was pleasantly surprised though. If you are using the PolyTune 3 with a battery, you can't use the power output, but if you are running it on a power supply you can use the power out to daisy chain and power another pedal!

This pedal is not only my first legit tuner but also my first experience with TC Electronic products. This thing is amazing for the price! In fact, I never thought I would be so excited to buy a tuner. The tuner is super responsive and makes the annoyance of tuning a breeze with how simple it is to use. You really can strum, tune and rock as TC says. I love having the accuracy of a strobe tuner in my arsenal and use it more than the polytune, but the polytune is superb! TC Electronic really outdid themselves by adding a buffer to an already spectacular product. The difference in my tone the buffer made blew my mind! My distorted sound became so much more pronounced and my clean, which I thought was already good, became even better by being more balanced (less muffled). After my experience with this tuner I will never look/use any other brand than TC Electronic. Grab this tuner, you owe it to yourself and you owe it to your tone!

I purchased the PolyTune 3 primarily for the built in Bonafide buffer. My pedalboard has grown and I usually use 18' Mogami cables to connect the guitar to my pedalboard and amp. All of my pedals are true bypass and I did experiece some singal degradation due to the amount of cabling in use. I chose to replace my previous tuner with the Polytune 3 and it solved my signal loss issue. Tom Maxwell from Sweetwater came through for me by getting the pedal to me in time fir a gig. Thanks to Sweetwater and Tom for another fantastic customer experience.

I've been using a clip-on Polytene for a couple of years and have been really happy with it, but I needed something for my electric guitar that was on all the time. I don't know if you've noticed, but some tuners actually affect the tone of your guitar when in use and that's really annoying. The Polytene 3 has a buffer that prevents that and gives me my full, bright tone all the time! This is an outstanding product. I also like the precision mode that gives me better than the usual 15 tuning accuracy.

The Polytune 3. Whether you have long cables runs or a huge pedal board, chances are, you're loosing some tone. The answer to that is the bonafied buffer. Oh wait this a tuner... or is it... Yea it's BOTH. The greatest tuner on the market just got better ladies and gentlemen. Super easy to use. Every tuning you could ever need, standard or drop. Just to get right to the point, I really dig this pedal. I needed a great tuner and I needed a great buffer (I only run a handful of pedals, but it still helps) and the pt3 delivers. First the tuner. Sorry TC, I absolutely do not care about the poly-tuning function. It's a great idea and it works just fine on the fly, but I'm way too OCD to not use the ABSOLUTELY STELLAR strobe mode. It has an advertised accuracy of +/-0.02 cent! I'm no mathematician, but I believe that's FIVE times more accurate than any current comparable tuner (I did a lot of searching, and most advertise an accuracy of +/-0.1 cent). It's extremely fast and responsive and I smile when I use it. 'nuff said. The buffer is just as fabulous. Ignoring the one pedal I have that depends on having a non-buffered signal (and will always be first in my chain), my pedals sound even better without the extra capacitance that my long cables normally provide. The pedal comes with a single-sheet manual which is extremely easy to understand. Turning the buffer and display on/off is as easy as removing the back-plate, looking at the manual and setting the two dip-switches however you please. I'll be blunt, I previously bought the polytune clip and was severely underwhelmed (mostly with the horribly short battery life), but my faith has since been renewed.

Huge fan of the bonafide buffer pedal. I run all true bypass pedals and you can loose a ton of high end and depth from long cables and true bypass. When I seen the new polytune 3 had the buffer built in it was a no brainier. Very accurate tuner. Easy to see and use. very well built. The buffer will not color your tone just bring back what is lost through the chain. Some other effect pedals with built in buffers can color your tone. Not the polytune 3. You can use it as true bypass with flip of a switch. Great for everyone. The folks at Sweetwater are top notch. I pre ordered the pedal and they even called before charging me.

I really like the responsiveness of this tuner, and the bypass feature. I use it every week with the 9v battery... no issues. Bass and guitar.

Display is fast and without the "jitters" some of my other tuners have. Seems accurate on all six strings as my guitars certainly sound perfectly in tune when done using it. Strobe mode works great, esp. for setting bridge intonation. Only small gripe is not all six displays always show in poly mode; 4 or 5 only sometimes. But still a nice feature that can get you in the ballpark quickly, and not really an issue for me. I bought it for the speed and accuracy, which is where this tuner shines.

I recently received my Polytune tuner, and so far so good. I have been playing bars, venues, and concerts for 45 years and mostly acoustic guitar during that time. Tuning and keeping in tune is critical, and when you play with other "electric" instruments or drums on stage, hearing your own instrument can be challenging at times. The tuner is pretty easy to see on stage, and in the strobe mode, I can get in tune quickly and accurately. And, as a tuner should, it mutes your instrument while you tune. Sure, you can spend more on a tuner, but for the money, it works great.

It works flawlessly. Bright enough and easy to see at a distance. I've only used strobe mode once, but the highly accurate mode is very nice to have. The strum tuning is not super useful to me. Many of its other functions I have never used. My only complaint is that the Dip switch location is under the back plate.

It works. No noise, no fuss, keeps me in tune.

Love this thing to pieces. The ability to see all strings at once is a game changer.

I've used the Polytune app on my iPhone for several years and have always been happy with it. So when I needed a tuner pedal, TC Electronics and Polytune were the obvious choice. The pedal simply works great. There are 2 versions, a "full-size" and a "compact" size - I bought the full-sized pedal for the larger display, but I think the smaller one would have been fine, too. Highly recommend any of them.

I,so far, have found the PolyTune 3 a very useful tool on my pedalboard. Used outside in the sun, it was bright enough to be easily seen and the strum function is a sweet easy way to find offending strings. I haven't used it long enough to gush about it's other features ie. buffer (it's on a small board for my acoustic), alternate tunings etc. Good price! Good product! look out TU-3!

I really like this tuner. A few months ago I played bass in a musical theater production, where there could be many minutes of silence between musical numbers, or moments of dialog in the middle of songs that required silence, and the mute function was awesome for these. The strum tuning is nice but (predictably) has some problems with the 5-string bass, which is fine because i usually tune one string at a time. The buffer is a nice feature too. I don't use it right now but it's nice to know it's there.

Great tuner in every way, easy efficient easy to see accurate from tuning to setting intonation. Tuning is a quest for perfection for me this tuner helps me better than anything else out there so far. 4.5 rating is only because of you want instructions that tell you any and every thing on its functions and settings how to access them you have to go online to try and find them. Huge display and built in buffer make this pedal an instant fixture on my board. I only wish the internal dip-switches could be accessed without opening the bottom. No big deal though, really. Built solid and looks cool. Probably about as exciting as a guitar tuner could be!

The unit works well and I was bored the other day. Decided to update the firmware. Using TC's online instructions, I was unable to get the unit into the "boot" mode. Went on YouTube and discovered what TC had omitted. Press the display button before plugging in the USB from the computer to get into the boot mode and have the update software on the computer recognize the unit.

Really well designed tuner with an optional buffered output, chromatic mode, many useful tunings built in, and the ability to program and store your own. Easily seen on dark stages as well as daylight and a robust build. What more do you need? Awesome tuner. Period.

I have 2 of these, 1 at my rehearsal room and the other for my home rig.
Both are very accurate and truth be told, I don't use all the different "tuner profiles" you can make.
I just keep it in standard.

The only negative i have, is outside shows, if the sun is above you, it will wash out the display. Thats the downside of a noon show..

Bought this as it promised fast, accurate tuning and a highly visible display.
It delivered on all fronts, i would have no issue recommending this tuner to anyone.
I play bass and occasionally a 5 string, no problem with the low B..

Great tuner! Better than Boss and easy to see in daylight.

This is a beautifully built tuner, but I ended up also buying the mini because the full-size one takes up uneccesary room on the pedalboard. It's not huge, but every mm matters.

I needed a poly tune because I thought it would help quickly tune all strings while using my Bigsby equipped guitars. For example when tuning to a drop D all of the other stings go out of tune so this is a quick resolution.

Works, and the polyphonic tuning is a great feature for quick tuning, I just wish it would agree with its own single string tuning. The low E always appears too low in polyphonic mode even when it shows as in tune when plucking just the E string. The buffer is a great bonus though.

This lives on the board at the beginning of my signal train. The display is bright enough to be clearly visible, and the pedal seems very stable -- i.e. it has no trouble locking onto my guitar signal. The form factor is *slightly* bigger than most of my other pedals.

It's a good tuner for 6 strings guitars but I noticed that with 7-8 strings sometimes gets twisted and it's a little bit complicated to get in tune , lucky that this pedal it's not on my main pedalboard. It should have any option for all notes instead specific tunning and the extra effort to change the running's with each guitar

Beside all of its tuning functions, the pedal also has the option to switch from true bypass to buffered, which is good to have if your signal chain is long. It seems solid and well built

This is a well made high tech tuner, with a lot lot of options built in. It very quick, accurate and responsive when tuning and has a bright clear display, by pass is always good and the built in buffer will be nice as my electric rig grows. Oddly, my favorite feature is one they don"t talk about and that is the additional 9v out jack in the back so you can power another pedal on your board.

I gave 4 stars beacaue, first I have not used on stage yet though I anticipate it will perform well. Second you have to switch between guitar and bass modes and since I plan to use this on electric and bass rigs, I wish it would switch automatically, I know every other tuner has to be switched between modes but that would have been an impressive feature.

Very pleased with TC and polytune3, it"s a must for any pedal board.

I am used to Peterson tuners, so this is a step down. However, for the money, you can't beat this combo. I keep a Peterson Stomp Classic into a Mesa buffer on my fiddle board. For my guitar board I use the Polytune3. The PT3 takes a bit more patience to tune, but accomplishes the same for far cheaper with no degradation of sound.

yup, it's a tuner alright. This is the kind that you get for your pedalboard. And if you have a pedalboard, you have a power supply. Which means that you don't need a box big enough to hold a 9v battery, which this one does. Which means I could have had more space to squeeze one more pedal on.

Very nice tuner. The dots used for simultaneous view of all six strings are a little tough to see.

Just got the Polytune 3, it is great to be able to do a quick check of all strings at once, and tweak the ones that need help either with the needle setting, or more accurate strobe setting. My only gripe is that all my strats are tuned to B flat, and the tuner does not make allowances for the change in tuning from 440 std. to Bb on the display. It shows what the string is actually tunes to, so everything shows on the tuner as a # instead of EADGBE chromatically. You would think that a professional tool would take out the guess work by converting the display. I have a cheap Kliq tuner from Amazon that does this. I guess I will just have to use my brain when using this tuner.

Cons
-Gimmicky, unless you have octopus hands you wont be tuning all strings at once /polyphonic tuning is great as concept but not really necessary. It is however helpful to know which strings are not in tune right away .
-the tracking can be a tad slow especially out the box default mode. not as responsive for a quick tune especially between songs at a gig.

I have a Polytune 3 I bought in 2018 and I love it. So when I started assembling pedals for a second pedal board I'm building now, I ordered another Polytune 3. While it works as advertised, I'm still disappointed in the new one because its display is noticeably dimmer than the display on the old one. I opened up a support ticket with TC Electronic, and at their request sent them a video of the two tuners running side by side. The response I got back from them was that the new units are designed to be less bright than the old ones, and to vary their brightness based on the ambient light level, and that there is no way to manually adjust the brightness. Basically, they tout this is a FEATURE and not a bug, but I see it as a really poor design choice at best. While the tuning accuracy, optional buffer circuit and other features are good, if you need a consistently bright display you may want to look elsewhere.

I'm glad I got a separate tuner, as I wasn't satisfied with the LR Baggs Venue D.I. built in tuner, which was slow and the lights were counter-intuitive to me.

The Polytune3 is fast in its default, single string tuning. But the jury is still out for me on the polytune feature. I don't think the polytune flat/sharp values always match the single tune settings.

Unfortunately, the low E on my Taylor 815 Jumbo acoustic doesn't register for a second or two - that's annoying.

Glad I got this and not the mini - I'm not coordinated enough to be dainty with my feet. :-)

This isn't a horrible tuner. In fact it's pretty good overall but for bass... it's just OK and there are better choices. If you are a guitar player this is a great tuner!

I just received my third Polytune 3 from Sweetwater. The first one I got (a couple years ago) was a dud. DOA. Sweetwater, being the best there is when it comes to customer service, paid to have it sent back, and shipped out a second (replacement). The second one worked fine - great, even. It's a fantastic tuner. Two years later, it's still going strong on my electric rig, and I love it. So, getting tired of using a clip-on for my acoustic guitars (and since I was in the process of putting together a tiny board for them anyway), I ordered another. Number three.... another dud. Still love the tuner, so I'll be getting another replacement - and hoping it'll work like it's supposed to. Otherwise, I just avoid TC Electronics - and for the same reason, Electro-Harmonix. Both companies are known for making great, innovative pedals, but for cryin' out loud...... QC, QC, QC! It's precisely for this reason I buy from Sweetwater. Best customer service in the world.

I have had this on my board for at least seven years but shortly after purchasing the LED quit working on high & low E strings. Reached out to polytune but no response. Figured perhaps a firmware issue. It still tunes and I like it a lot but annoyed at the quality of LED.

Maybe I received a defective one but the first thing I noticed was that when the pedal was on, no sound from my amp, then I read about the internal dip switches and set it to buffered always on and that took care of my first issue but my Boss TU-2 was better in that it has two output jacks which provide true bypass while still either being on or off. Next thing I noticed was that the poly mode showed only 4 of my 6 strings. Also when compared to my TU-2 it seems to have less accuracy at least in the fast mode, now I know someone may say I could have switched to the more accurate strobe mode but my main interest was the larger easy locked in letter mode in the first place. Finally what really annoyed me was that the display showed an A# in idle all the time. Maybe I just got a bad one, don't know.

Let me start by saying that I love Sweetwater. Great customer service. Now to my TC Electronic Polytune 3 experience. Not so great.

Purchased tuner. Came in what appeared to be plastic, factory seal. When I looked at the tuner screen, there was a very noticeable nick, some light scratches, and some black scuff marks on one side of the unit. Sweetwater Service immediately overnighted a new tuner to me (WOW! COOL!). The new tuner came in a box without factory wrapping, you could see where a sticker had been pulled off the top of the box (wonder what it said), and again, there was a very noticeable nick and some light scratches on the screen. Sweetwater refunded the purchase, and was very friendly and easy to deal with about it.

Next, if you are carefully reading the Sweetwater webpage for the "TC Electronic PolyTune 3 Polyphonic LED Guitar Tuner Pedal with Buffer" on 07-23-22, you will notice a significant inconsistency on strobe accuracy. In the description section, a heading says "Choose strobe mode for up to 0.1-cent accuracy". However, in the "TECH SPECS" section, accuracy reads ""0.02 cent (strobe)". I asked a Sweetwater rep to contact TC Electronic (which TC Electronic makes it impossible for a mere mortal to do) to find out which was correct and I was told that the reply came back "0.1-cent" for strobe accuracy.

I don't know why these two units were sold and sent to me as "new", when clearly they had signs of being used and damaged. Also, I recommend Sweetwater proof their webpages for description inconsistencies. I likely will buy from Sweetwater again, but will more carefully look at product descriptions and the product received.

I purchased the Polytune clip on tuner and the Polytune 3 pedal as a package. The Polytune Clip-On tuner works well on both electric and acoustic guitars. The Polytune 3 pedal tuner works okay on a full electric guitar, but will not tune the low strings on my Marin Acoustic with a built in Fishman pickup system. When you pluck the low E or A string, the pedal just displays the arc of all 6 strings, not recognizing that an individual string has been played. It doesn't matter If you use a pick or your finger, it doesn't respond. It does work correctly on the remaining four higher strings. I tried to contact TC Electronics for support on the issue through their "Music Tribe" customer service portal, but I have to say, their support is horrible. Even the simple process of registering the products was difficult. Last TC Electronics products I purchase. I should have purchased the Boss Pedal tuner.

If the input is connected, the battery will drain even if the unit is off and the pins are set to "True Bypass". So, while you are at your gig for three hours, the battery is going to drain even when you aren't tuning. I wanted a battery powered tuner, but this one is a fail. It is quick to tune a Bass though.
