Better than an X stand

By Sweetwater Customer

One million times better than an x stand. It sits flush with the wall, taking up less space, NO ASSEMBLY required, and only minimal shaking while playing.

It also has a water Balencer in the middle to tell you if it's sitting on a level surface.

This should be the standard for keyboard stands.

Easy to set up. Sturdy. Low profile.

Much better than x-frames

By Sweetwater Customer from NY

Stable, highly adjustable in both height and length, and folds down flat & small for EASY transport. I also like that the space underneath is wide open. Pro tip: the telescoping inserts in the legs can be fully removed if you need the stand to go even lower, and that makes a great height if you want it to feel like sitting at a piano.

Just as described

By Kinsington.Island from LAS VEGAS, NV
Music Background: Bass, Drums, Guitar, Keys, Vocals, Writer, Studio, Production

I use it in the studio to elevate my pedalboard and dial in some sounds without killing the back or knees. I'll probably use it for keyboard as well. Very sturdy and balanced, even on plush carpet. Just what the doctor ordered. Perfecto!

Exactly what I hoped

By Robert O. from Monterey, CA

This is a really solid keyboard stand. I wanted something with the legs out of the way of my legs. All 4 legs are adjustable to make sure you get the right balance, and there's a level indicator bubble on top so you can see if the keyboard will be perfectly level (it might help to also see if your floor is perfectly level before you adjust).

I'm using it on top of carpet with a Casio 88-key keyboard and it has no trouble with stability or tipping. The slight amount of movement I feel playing it is no worse than my old double-braced X-stand, which surprised me, but I was able to screw the feet in and out to find the perfect amount of support, versus the X-stand's zero ability to adjust to the floor you're working with if it isn't flat and level.

In service three weeks, took it down and moved it once, set it back up, no quality issues yet. I'm 6'2", and I drove a knee into it by accident hard enough to jar the keyboard crooked, thing settled back onto its feet and the keyboard didn't fall, no tip over. No damage.

Meh.

By Matthew K. from Warrenville, IL

Alright for home use…kind of.
Hopefully ya don't have pets or toddlers though.
Not that sturdy of a stand. Certainly would not use for heavy gigging or to hold prosumer or pro instruments.
Hopefully better purchases available at this price point.

Get it!

By Deanna W. from Austin, TX
Music Background: Music teacher, professional musician

I got this to replace my Z-stand. While I loved the sturdy Z stand when it was set up, it was a real pain to take down and haul around. It ripped up the inside of the car, and my husband/roadie hated that thing so much that he abandoned it with glee when we had to buy a new smaller car-hee hee.
So this keyboard table is a much more streamlined look and fits my Roland FP-60 perfectly. I do a combination of teaching online in my living room and hauling the keyboard around for gigs, and this stand folds up much more compactly and fits amongst the gear in the car far better! Plus, I really enjoy not having a bar underneath like the Z-stand has- much easier on my shins when I reach my leg under for the sustain pedal! I was worried that it would be a bit more unstable without that bar, but I'm very happy with the stability also. No downsides for me!

It is a very nice stand and has lots of room underneath for foot pedals. It wobbles just a little but not enough to cause any issues while the keyboard is on it.

Very steady

By Gregory R. from Salinas, CA

I started gigging this stand a few weeks ago. It replaces a heavy-awkward X stand. This stand sets up easily and once set up stands very steady. The rubber non slip top is a nice unexpected feature. I sit when I play, this stand gives me lots of room for my pedals and feet. I put off this purchase trying to make what I had work better. I'm glad I got this, it's so much nicer than the X stand.

Leaves the floor completely clear

By Sweetwater Customer

Works perfectly with a Nord Electro 6D 61 key as well as Hammond SK1. The sliding adjustment is collapsed to minimum position for these short models, so it can accomodate the 73 key variants just as well. Its heavy duty and sturdy, and leaves the floor clear for multiple pedals like volume, sustain and rotary switch. The legs are straight and not splayed out so that it doesn't take any more footprint than the dimensions of the keyboard, required in the keyboard corner in my home studio. I won't be using the X stands anymore except when flying.

Add to specifications please: M8-1.25x25mm

By Thomas B. from Marshall, IL
Music Background: Music Writer, Producer, Engineer

Hi! I love my gator frameworks GFW utility-TBL heavy duty keyboard stand. It is perfect for my Komplet Kontrol S61 MKIII keyboard controller. Out of the box. It was already the perfect height for my needs. Although, it has some adjustments that are perfect for standing or sitting. Two surprises hit me right off the bat. First off it has a little leveling bubble in the middle of the stand. Secondly, I was surprised to find out that the feet will unscrew so that you can get this perfect level, which I didn't really understand why you would need to have it perfectly level. But again that is a plus. For me I was thrilled to find out that the feet unscrewed because I really wanted to put 2 inch caster wheels on it so I could easily hide it away under my work station and pull it out when I needed to. That's because I have limited space to work with in my studio. However, it took me four tries to get the right wheels to put on it. When I first measured the threads it appeared that they were 3/8", but I was wrong and had to send those back because they were too large . So I ordered a set that were 5/16" and again they did not fit and the thread pattern was slightly off. That being the case that they were both too big I assumed I needed the one quarter inch threaded bolt pattern but again I was wrong. In the end, I went to a hardware store and took one of the threaded feet with me. A sales rep went through all of the bolts and thread patterns, and it wasn't until he suggested "maybe this is a metric threaded bolt." Indeed, it turned out that the correct threaded bolt pattern was M8-1.25 x 25mm. I wish somewhere in he product info this information would have been available. It would've saved me and anyone else wanting to put castor wheels on the bottom of their keyboard stand a lot of trouble trying to figure out which bolt thread pattern to pick. Hope this is helpful. I hope Gatorworks includes this info in the future.

Perfect for my Gretsch G5700 Lap Steel

By Rich H. from Bend, OR
Music Background: switchingyard.art

I use the table in its smallest setting and its perfect size and height for my lap steel. It would be easy to build a small wooden table top and then have my two lap steel guitars on it at once.

The table is super sturdy and the adjustments are perfect. Its quite nice looking too.

Generally happy with it

By St.G from Minneapolis
Music Background: Gigging keyboardist

I much prefer this stand to the X-style keyboard stands out there. It's very compact for transit, and sturdy when loaded.

My only beef with this is that the feet like to run away! They are made up of the rubber sheath on a metal foot that screws into the end of extendable legs. For whatever reason, twice now I've had to go back to the car and hunt for a foot that somehow came completely unscrewed and fell off in transit after finding it missing during setup. Just now for a third time, the rubber slid off a different foot and is missing. It's a super-annoying kind of problem; all four corners need some Locktite for the foot threads and Gorilla Glue (?) to keep the rubber on them. STILL prefer this to X-stands.

Excellent Stand

By Nick from Cape Cod, MA

Extremely heavy duty stand, zero assembly required, Keyboard does not move around or shake on the stand, and the stand does not wobble. This stand is clearly built to last a very long time. I would definitely recommend!

I love this stand!

By Heath A. from Austin, TX
Music Background: Full-time professional multi-instrumentalist and singer

I was always a die hard X-stand guy. Easy, light, did the job just fine for me. Since I've been doing almost all gigs now where I play guitar and keys and also use my Helix as a MIDI controller for my Stage 3, I was tired of having to set up my Helix off to the side and also to get my KB high enough, my X-stand had to be at least on the 2nd highest notch. I went to the highest notch last gig and while I didn't have any issues, the narrowness of the stand made me a little nervous (I'm a stand-up player).

So after a ton of searching I settled on this Gator Frameworks table stand and I LOVE it. It's definitely heavier but the benefits outweigh the cons. SOLID. Tons of room underneath. Looks great. Easily folds up and can be stashed on the back floorboard of my car. Has a level bubble on the table and screw adjustable feet for any stand leveling that may need to be done. Width adjustable to suit many boards. Used it for the first time at rehearsal tonight and I'm SOLD!

Sturdy, but too low for a normal bench

Very Sturdy, Very Solid.... Very Glad I Bought It

By phil from las vegas, NV

I purchased this stand to replace an On-Stage stand of similar design for one specific reason: the legs. My previous tabletop stand was of a similar design, but the legs spread out at an angle that ate up an additional four feet of stage space. Also the legs on this stand use push button place holders instead of thumbscrews, and this takes out all the unsurely of extending the legs for stand up performing. This stand is very solid and a little bit heavier than the Onstage or Jamstand version of this design, but the weight is a result of added stabilizing features.

Good sturdy stand, but too tall.

By Steffen P. from Tujunga, CA
Music Background: Professional musician, producer

on the plus side, it's sturdy, folds up nicely and looks good. On the minus side, in studio use, the shortest height puts my keyboard way too high up for comfort. Apparently these stands are for standing up only. Sitting down, it's way too tall, despite that my adjustable bench is set at the highest level. As such, I'm unable to use it as intended. Keeping it as a spare for standing up gigs and unknown future use.

Thought this was the best, then....

By Luke from Iowa
Music Background: Professional Recording Engineer

I bought this stand a couple of years ago. It seemed really sturdy, trusted enough that I put an 18RU by 126HP Eurorack Modular Synth on it for playing shows (over $15K in modules), and only used 10 times a year, approximately. Last weekend when setting up to play a show the angled support snapped and almost dumped synth. It was just sitting there, and only weighs about 50-60 pounds.

ALMOST PERFECT BUT NOT QUITE!

By Arthur M. from Essexville, MI
Music Background: Amateur Guitar and Keyboardist

It is a sturdy stand, no doubt about that. Has a wide variety of locked height adjustment positions. Where I feel they came up short was in the width adjustment hence the four stars instead of five rating. There are two thumbscrews provided for the width adjustment that press against the two sliding adjustment tubes. Why didn't they put holes in the tubes for the thumbscrews to be able to lock in place? As it is, you have to tighten the thumbscrews with a pair of pliers and the possibility still exists that they might slip. Outside of that point, I am fully satisfied!

Lackluster

By Matt from California

First off, Sweetwater customer service and shipping was 5 stars as usual - this review solely reflects the quality of the "heavy duty" table. Got this table for a 32 key synth that's 24 pounds - one side of the table didn't telescope in all the way, i.e. it was bent. Looking past that, it was wobbly for a $150 table; the synth visibly shook when played lightly and was unusable for overhead video shots. Would suggest a small table from a furniture store over this, or the heavier K+M stands.

Wobbly piece of junk

By Ex

Disappointed in gator.

Wobbles out of the box.

Impossible to lock width adjustment in place. The little knobs don't lock in place.

Maybe I'm using it wrong, but how should I know? There's no manual in the box.

This was gift and frankly I feel bad for my family having spent money on this.

Nice keyboard stand!

By David R.

I'm very happy with this keyboard stand. It's very sturdy, doesn't wobble, and it folds up pretty small. I also like it because it looks clean and simple and doesn't have crossbeams (like an ironing board) that get in the way of my feet. It's a nice design.

Holes where the keyboard pads should go

By Hugh from US

For some strange reason they put holes in the top, so inevitably, the pads on your keyboards will either be in them, or one in and one out, etc. Really awful design. If you stretch it out to a 73 key or above it's wobbly. The optional second tier isn't width or height adjustable, so there's a good chance it won't work for your synth setup.

Perfect space saver

By Gary H. from BOYNTON BEACH, FL

This was absolutely perfect for my needs! I have a very cramped music room. My guitars, amps and keyboard were all competing for space. But the GFW-UTILITY-TBL slipped right over my Fender Champion 100 so now I have the best of both worlds. This thing is sturdy, with solid construction, ample padding for non-slip and dampened support of your keyboard, and very compact for transport. I am an extremely happy camper!

Terrible Design Cheap Parts

By Greg Y. from WV
Music Background: A long time

I bought this stand to use for an effects rack stand next to my mixer. The first time I used it one of the little plastic feet fell off the end of the leg. The second time - another of the feet fell off AND one of the pull rings for the collapsible legs just came right off. Do not buy this if you plan on actually using it for anything, it will fall apart on you. Gator typically was my go-to for stands, but with this one I am having second thoughts. Very cheaply made and poorly designed. It misses the mark by a mile on quality. Buy another brand that quality has not become an afterthought.

GATOR FRAMEWORKS GFW UTILITY TABLE HEAVY DUTY KEYBOARD TABLE

By ramiro f. from Shelton, WA
Music Background: play for fun and jam with friends

I don't play key board, but I was looking for something that I could place my guitar amps on and also double as a space saver for my music room and in my garage. This is a great option for me. Maybe not great for gigging, but with a modified back rest it probably would work. The only reason I gave it a 4.5 is because it doesnt have a back rest. I realize it is not designed for guitar amps, but it is after all a Utility Table. I love it. Very sturdy and easy to set up no assembly required. See photos- garage set up is an Ampeg 2x10 Portaflex with 500 watt head and a Fender Chanpion 100 on top. The Music room set up is the same except for a Gamma 50 watt amp on top. Im thinking of buying a 3rd one for my two acoustic guitar amps. Very happy after many hours of searching online the light bub came on! I researched the dimensions of all my equipment before making the purchase.

Excellent keyboard stand!

By Jon R. from Dallas, Texas
Music Background: Musician/Songwriter/Recordist

This is an excellent keyboard stand! It's ultra-sturdy and there are no crossbeams to get in the way of your pedals. I like that the width can be adjusted and then tightened in place, as well as the peg pin leg height adjustment. It's the perfect keyboard stand in my opinion.

Not sturdy for heavier keyboards

By Sweetwater Customer

I bought this as an alternative to the Arturia Polybrute wooden legs stand as I wanted something with adjustable height and easier to fold up when needed. Even though it was considered well under the weight limit (45 lbs to the 132 lbs capacity) I felt instantly nervous when I put it on. It never felt secure and wobbled whenever I played it. I was constantly concerned it was going to fall apart on me, which it inevitably did after having to move it around in my studio. Luckily no Polybrute was harmed in the process.

It looks and feels just as cheaply made as it is, I will be moving on to something else. I'll give it an extra half a star for collapsing up nice and small, so it doesn't take up much room in my car on its way to the dump.

Not sturdy enough, fails to stand up to road usage.

By Adam H. from Canton, GA
Music Background: Professional Musician

The design is nice, I like have the room underneath because I play through a leslie mostly, so I have a preamp, speed switch, volume pedal among other things. The table is not stable at all if your are a Hammond-style player. Glissandos are terrifying. Now, I have the legs fully extended out to each side which just looks silly. One of the locking dowels broke and disappeared, so now I have to shove a patch cable in there and gaff tape it at every gig. Dissapointed considering the price. I guess I'm trying a "Z" stand next.

March 10, 2022

Solid, but a little too high

By Sweetwater Customer from New Jersey
Music Background: piano and voice: Classical and Broadway

The stand is strong, solid, and overall more rugged than it looks in the pictures. I was able to insert the rubber feet of my CP88 into the holes in the top of the stand, making it feel super secure. At the stand's lowest height setting it places the CP88 keys about an inch higher than my acoustic piano, which is my only complaint.

February 21, 2022

Sturdy where you want it to be

By Sweetwater Customer

Just purchased an 88 key hammer action keyboard. It's quite heavy but also quite narrow. This stand holds it well with lots of leg room and is built to withstand your best Ben Folds imitation.

So close…

By Daniel from Atkins, VA

Pain in my butt. Does not travel well. I had 3 pieces fall off within 2 days of it being out of the box. The pull tabs on the underside to lock the legs out is a cheap key ring with a cloth tab. The key ring unbent and broke off the first time I pulled it. Not pleased so far.

January 28, 2022

Very solid, one weird design choice

By Sweetwater Customer

If they didn't design this thing quite so tall, it would be 5 stars. To get this thing to give you standard acoustic piano height, it has to be on the shortest pegs, WITH THE RUBBER FEET REMOVED. Given that it can extend plenty taller, I'm a little baffled that they decided on this height. I mean, it IS keyboard stand - why not set the lowest height at or slightly UNDER standard piano height?
However, it is otherwise a great stand, solid as a rock, sturdy, and doesn't wobble or budge when you play. So, I'll live with the removed feet and perhaps at some point try to add my own (it's a fairly standard screw-in attachment point for them - there are probably some furniture pads that could be used in place of the supplied rubber feet which are themselves over an inch tall).
Overall worth it.

Not anything like it says it is

By Zach

This thing is absolute crap. It's wobbly. The level bubble is stuck to the side. The horizontal tighteners don't work so that I have to carry it lengthwise to avoid it sliding apart while I'm carrying it. One of the tags that enable the user to unlock the hinges broke after less than 10 uses. And the whole thing doesn't actually get low enough for practical keyboard playing.

I've had success with other Gator Frameworks products. Surprising this one so categorically fails to live up to its description.

Perfect Keyboard Stand at the Perfect Price:

By Electriceddie D. from NEW YORK
Music Background: Pro Musician / Audio Engineer/ etc.....

I was looking for a Kybd stand that would accommodate at 61 to 88 size Kybd in length. I also needed the Stand & Kybd together to match the height of the edge on my Studio Desk or as close as possible. In order to get the right height I needed to remove the legs from the stand dropping it down to a total of 25" from floor to the top of the stand. I am right there now plus or minus approx. 1/2" depending on which Kybd I use on the stand for the day. Very Sturdy stand. Thanks Ian for the Idea about removing the legs. Works Great.... & the price you can't beat it. I would have given it 5 Stars, but the other 1/2 of a Star is reserved for time. Time will tell how good it holds up. which I think it will be for a long while......

Thanks again Ian

great stand for me

By Robert from Northern CA
Music Background: classical piano / organ

My career was as a classical piano player accompanying college choirs and soloists, so I was used to having my feet and legs under (usually) a grand piano. Although retired from that, my church job continues and with the lockdown, I had to make use of my electric keyboard (Casio Privia). But I found that the scissors-type stand that I had didn't have room for my legs, and I was starting to have back discomfort because of that. So I did a little research and found the Gator keyboard table at Sweetwater. It has worked perfectly, and I have no more back problems. I was a little concerned that my keyboard might slide around, but there are rubber pads on the left and right sides which hold the keyboard perfectly still. It is a solidly made product and sets up and breaks down quickly and easily. The Sweetwater folks are very easy to work with, and being musicians themselves, can answer questions authoritatively.

Solid

By Tom from Alabama
Music Background: Hotlix Recording mixing, mastering, intermediate guitar player.

I needed a reasonably priced stand for my M-Audio Keystation 61 controller for my home studio space. This is good. Adjustable (height, width), easily movable to front of my computer work area when I need it there, doesn't wobble, and I can get my feet under it. This fits the bill for me. Recommended if you want this configuration of a keyboard stand.

Solid table, small footprint when closed.

By Luis G. from Melbourne Beach, FL
Music Background: Plays many instruments, including keyboard.

The table is very solid. Holds my 76key keyboard without a problem. I wanted a table that would fold up small, not impede legroom and pedals, and go in a gig bag along with the keyboard. The only minor point is weight. It is a bit heavy since it is made of steel. I wonder what the trade-off would be in terms of sturdiness if it were made out of a composite material or aluminum.

Sturdy, Stable, and Adjustable

By Chris
Music Background: Gigging background in just about every genre but Mongolian opera, Now providing the soundtrack for the apocalypse.

This is an outstanding, rock-solid stand for a keyboard, mixer, whatever. This stand is adjustable in every important and useful way, and more importantly, is very stable. It is perfect for a heavy 88-key digital piano or other heavy workstation.

Back in my rock, funk, and electronica band touring days, I would never sit at my keyboard rig during a show unless I wanted the crowd to think I was a stiff and wing beer bottles at me. I was of the Keith Emerson or Trent Reznor mold and made the keyboards my, well, it starts with a "B" and rhymes with "itch", so the "X" keyboard stands were all well and good if you play standing up. But the X stands totally suck for studio purposes or pianos when you want/need to sit down to play, unless you're some sort of masochist who likes bruises and lumps on your knees and are fine with awkwardly manipulating your pedals. This stand solves those problems and then some. I couldn't be happier with this piece of essential hardware. I also couldn't be happier with the exceptional service from Sweetwater.

The Gator Frameworks GFW-UTILITY-TBL Heady-duty Keyboard Table (Platform Keyboard Stand) is perfect for my use.

By Don G. from Spring Hill, FL
Music Background: Playing Oldies from the 40s to the 90s.

The Gator Frameworks GFW-UTILITY-TBL Heady-duty Keyboard Table (Platform Keyboard Stand) is perfect for my use. It is solid (no rocking or movement while I play the keyboard), is very easy to set up and expand, and collapses for travel to just 3 1/4 inches high. Gator Frameworks GFW-UTILITY-TBL Heavy-duty Keyboard Table: easy intuitive set up, solid construction, adjustable width and height, but light and compact enough to travel. Sturdy, does not wobble, shake, rattle or roll like other keyboard stand designs. Using with Arturia Keylab 49 MkII (not the lightest of its size category)--having bumped into or rolled a chair into it often in a tight studio space, no fear of the keyboard crashing to the floor. Should be able to handle an 88-keyboard. Gator Frameworks from now on!

No-go for me. I must say that it was surprisingly steady regarding any front-to-back movement. But, for me, unacceptable side-to-side movement. So I returned it. Just for the record, I'm comparing it to my base, minimum requirement - which is a K&M Model 18810 keyboard stand which is rock solid in all directions (Also purchased from Sweetwater). Unfortunately, it's heavy and not easy to transport. I guess that's the price of stability, at least until I find one better. Unfortunately, this "table" is simply not stable enough for my preference. YMMV.

Rock Solid forward & backward, but too much wobble side-to-side for my playing style

By Keith S. from Westminster, CA
Music Background: Life-long professional pianist.

I currently am using the K&M 18810 stand, which is rock solid with no movement in ANY direction. However, it is heavy, and does not fold to a size easy to transport. Based upon the preponderance of rave reviews this Gator Works table stand received, I thought I would give it a try. I'll admit, it might be acceptable to many people, especially if they stand while playing. However, for sitting down and playing "concert style piano", this stand simply has too much side-to-side movement for my playing style. I do note, however, that it is rock solid with respect to any front-to-back movement. YMMV.

Awesome keyboard stand

By Sweetwater Customer

For years we had the typical X shaped stand then we moved to a new house where the keyboard was placed in a tight space. Our knees kept hitting it. I wish I had known of this keyboard table sooner. No hitting our knees and overall it juts looks nicer - less frame to see.

Solid & Priced Right

By Jim from Fort Wayne

I bought this to take on gigs; I am certainly not a full time professional by any means but our band plays a number of gigs a year. I also own a similar stand made by On Stage Stands, but this one is of superior quality. Very sturdy, folds up to a compact size. Heavier than the On Stage version. I like the built in level.

Not sturdy for heavy keyboard

By Vivian from Rhode Island
Music Background: 10 years performing

I had a bad feeling when I unfold the keyboard stand. It feels a little wobbly. I tried to stand it up and thought it will be better when I adjust the legs. But it didn't. I have a very heavy keyboard (100lbs) that I plan to use it on. Put it on for 5 seconds and realise I have to return it.

Great Lap Steel Guitar Stand, Dual Purpose Stand.

By Len C. from Chico. California
Music Background: Hobby: Guitar, Dobro Lap Steel (Wannabe) Harmonica, & Clarinet.

I looked on-line and at local music stores for a Stand for my Gretsch G-5715 Lap Steel and didn't see anything I wanted. I called Sweetwater/Dave Snow, who is the Salesman that I've done done business with for the past 10-15 years, and explained that I wanted a Lap Steel Stand that is Portable, Sturdy, and Adjustable for playing sitting down or standing up. I ask him to look around the Sweetwater Store in Ft Wayne and see what he could find. He sent me the Gator Frameworks GFW-UTILITY-TBL, Heavy Duty Keyboard Table which is Perfect for me. I set it up next to the PC so I can play and take on-line lessons at the same time. Just having the accessibility to the Lap Steel, when I was to play it, is a WIN for for me.
It can be used in the future to accommodate Amplifiers or a Keyboard, should I need it for other than the Lap steel.

Unstable table when fully extended

By Evan T. from New York

Wobbly, unstable and clickety clanky when fully extended.
I needed a table style keyboard stand to put over my guitar peddleboard so an X brace style keyboard stand would not work for me. When fully extended tona standing position, this stand and wobbles to and fro, like you are on a ship in a stormy sea, and the extended legs rattle like crazy -
I took a video to demonstrate but I"m not allowed to post it in this review.

Will send video demonstration upon request- my e mail is :
first last name at that popular G mail account.
I"m returning this item. Thank god I purchased from Sweetwater

garbage stand

By Hammond from Boston
Music Background: Mercenary

The first one arrived looking like the metal... child of M.C. Escher and Rube Goldberg. Obviously no one had ever really looked at it, let alone set it up. Either that or the high kids welding parts were having a laugh that day. Suffice to say it would not stand and I would not stand for that. Sweetwater was, as always, great about its timely replacement. The welds on that one held for just a little too long to reasonably expect Sweetwater to send me a third: about 6 months. While that one worked it swayed. The idea of straight legs is nice: the realoty is rickety.
Still looking for a sturdy road-ready table stand.

Needs Work

By Alan G. from Summerville, SC

Setup was a breeze. Just unfold the legs until they snap in place.
But as soon as I stood it on its legs, any pressure placed against the table caused a rattle.
If you turn the table over and completely remove (unscrew) the rubber feet, you'll see that the leg is composed of a square outer piece and another, smaller, square piece inside the outer leg. This inner part has the female thread for the screws. Put a finger on the inner piece and shake it from side to side. Thats the NOISE!!! SOLUTION: With the table still upside down and the feet off, use a scissors to cut 8 small (2" x 1/4") pieces off a Coors Light beer box (or similar, very thin cardboard). Insert the pieces where there are gaps between the inner and outer leg pieces and cut off the excess. Bake at 350 degrees - wait -wrong thread--Screw the feet back in. PLAY MUSIC!!!!!!!!

Gator Table

By Sweetwater Customer

LOVE THE TABLE... It's easy to set up and holds all my equipment. The holes in the table make simple to hide wires and cables. It could use some sort of handle design to make it easier to carry and the holding screws don't do anything, but its still a great table

Professional keyboardist/concert organist.

By Ray R. from Westminster
Music Background: Md.

This gator heavy duty platform table is great! I also have an onstage version which is just ok. The gator stand is more sturdy, also, the legs can be adjusted by just pushing the button on the table and extending them to your height. The onstage one has a thumb screw where you have to match the holes on the stand. The gator stand is somewhat more secure also, the gator has a spring locking assembly which locks the stand in place. Actually, I liked it so much i bought another for my house for my Hammond Sk5. My other gator is at my church for my Roland VR09 organ, and I use the Onstage one for gigging, however, I am going to take the gator from my church and use it for my gig stand since it's more secure than the Onstage one. If you are going to use an 88 note board or a heavier board in general, I _strongly recommend the gator Framework heavy duty platform table hands down. Thanks for reading, and thank you Joe Copenhaver, it's always a great pleasure to work with you.

quality (out of) control

By Joe B. from Boston

Bought one only to find it was a complete piece of garbage: legs and hinges all kinds of messed-up. Obviously no one had ever bothered to set the thing up. Or, if they did, they sold it anyway...
Cheerfully and quickly replaced by Sweetwater, the second one is not going to collapse, but there is more sway than advertised. But then, it's a hundred dollar stand. I'd pay $ for a stable table this size and style that was rock solid. Those Gibralter erector sets seem a bit too complex for club date one-nighters. I'll keep the Gator but the search continues.

Solid and Adjustable

By Jim G. from Hastings, Michigan, USA

This is a fantastic stand. Period. If you hate your keyboard bouncing around, and want a stand for one keyboard that is wonderfully adjustable in both height and width, get this. I've had many keyboard stands and this is the one for home or stage.

Not great ..

By Sweetwater Customer from Washington, DC

We have used this keyboard stand in a set up every time for our gig. First, the levelers on the bottom got lost the first week. Next, you have to be really careful that you don't pinch your fingers in the stand..

Next, your keyboard will just slide over the stand unless you find some holes for it to fit in.

I play standing up at my gig. At the end of our set.. I looked at the keyboard.. and it was off by about 20 degrees.. .Don't have time to go and measure each one of the four feet to get it exact.. and with losing the bottom leveler the first week... the holes in the tubes don't work accurately.

This is great for a stand you don't set up and take down each week. Even if you try to lock the stand in the same position for the same keyboard.. the screws loosen during transit.. we're only going from downstairs to upstairs in a office type building.

We're going for the double X stand now.. Less burden and finger pinching.. and not as flimsy.

Definitely NOT happy with this purchase.

January 4, 2017

Disappointing

By Lloyd from Massachusetts

This stand will probably work out for you if you buy it, but we have a full 88 key Roland, a relatively heavy piano (about 47 pounds.) The table is anything but "heavy duty" as advertised. It is very light weight, not well built in terms of solidity, weight, or stability. Even when it's legs are locked in place, it is notably rickety. It has a lot of play, left to right, and readily sways. It is NOT going to fall over, and I think it would keep your key board safe, but it is not solid, and the construction is out of 1/2 inch square tubing, about 4 times smaller than it looks online or in the catelogue. It also has no spread at all with the legs, and does not have a wide base, just straight down. With a good sized 88 weight key keyboard on top, if someone in a club were to give it a good bump, I'd hate to see what would happen and am afraid it would fall right over. We are sending ours back and will be working with Sweetwater (an AWESOME company!!!) to get something much more substantial. Sweetwater, by the way, gets 5 Stars plus, and Dave M. is the BEST! Thanks Dave!

Very Nice!

By Erik from California

It served my purpose and I like the options to extend/raise/lower and fold up to put away. I've had other stands before but I use them at home so they look ugly and are bulky. I also had to stand up to play. I was looking for something I could put my Moog Sub 37 on and play while sitting on my chair, plus have next to my main desk. I also needed it to look nice as my room has nice dark furniture. This has fit the bill very nice. I recently extended it and made room for a DSI Tetra. Very happy with it.

Great purchase

By D. C. from Nyack NY
Music Background: Performer and producer

You wouldn't think a stand could make such a difference but it has. I dont play out that much on keyboard, I use this in the studio, I can play pretty hard and I was tired of the way X-type stands, even more heavy duty ones, can kind of waver and shift as you play them. Never happens with this baby. And for me, a big plus is being able to sit down and position your pedal without the X getting in the way. It folds up neatly, though it is not particularly light. But I think the heft contributes to its solidity and stability. And it certainly is portable. If your looking for a great, reliable stand and weight is not an issue, look no further. This is the best.

Great Portable Table

By Mike from Washington DC
Music Background: Sound engineer for touring bands

This is a strong and easy to set up table. I can stand on it (180lbs) with no flexing and it feels rock solid. It folds up to a flat package and is easy to store/transport. The main use, for me, is to hold a mixer with assorted gear (wireless transmitters, et al). I don't always have a lot of room to set up and the small foot print of this table is perfect. I am very happy with this table (I know, I need to get out more).

Well designed and built

By Q-Bert

I assumed I'd be needing to anchor this stand to to my computer desk to make it absolutely solid, but to my surprise, my Kawai mp7 sits very firmly. I don't feel any "wiggle" in the keyboard as I'm playing!....and I have a thick carpeting and padding on the floor underneath the feet. Tip: if you need your keyboard to sit a little lower, just remove the adjustable legs (like I did). I like my keys at 29.5" from the floor. Is this stand as rock solid as the Roland? Probably not.....but it's not $240 either. That said, this stand works great for me.....and I'm a stickler for any movement in the keyboard while playing.

Solid!

By Duane from Ohio
Music Background: Audio Engineer in training

I'm using this to house my Roland FA-08 and that keyboard isn't small or light by any means! This stand works very well and it doesn't wobble around as bad as some of the other lower cost units I've tried. This unit is fully adjustable for height and width and locks up like a bank vault! It also folds up to a very compact size for travel or storage if that's a concern to you, and it's very easy to take down.

I own several products from Gator and they really make some nice quality stuff for a great price, A big thanks to Gator for great products and a big thanks to Sweetwater for making them available to us!

I'd buy one again for sure and highly recommend this stand to anyone that wants a quality stand for their keyboard for a fair price.

By John R. from North Charleston, SC

This is a good and sturdy stand at a reasonable price, which is exactly what I wanted. I've seen stands collapse on fellow musicians during a show and I didn't want that to happen to me. I'm quite pleased with it.
If there is anything bad to say about it, it would be that even at its lowest height setting it's a bit too tall when using a standard piano bench. For me it is, anyway. Maybe not for you. I'd feel a lot more comfortable if I could lower it another two or three inches.

More Than a Keyboard Table

By W.C. from SE Missouri
Music Background: Multi-instrumental musician for past 50 years

I have KORG TRITON 88. It sits securely on an ULTIMATE SUPPORT keyboard stand. But a very special need arose and the GFW-UTILITY-TBL was precisely what I needed. I required a sturdy table that was height adjustable as well as expandable. But none of these features had anything at all to do with a keyboard. I had other plans. I ordered the table from Tyler (my incredibly helpful, professional and patient sales engineer and received the unit in two days. Assembly was virtually non-exsistant. Now for some modifications. I screwed-in a 2" lockable caster on the bottom of each leg, affixed a black 36" shelf to the top and I was ready. I now have a complete cockpit of SAITEK flight simulator controls on a very sturdy stand with wheels so I can roll it in front of the 32" monitor for that I use for ProTools and video editing. One cable to my computer and I'm flying. Back to music and recording, just roll it away. All-in-all, a very versatile and cool piece of unobtrusive gear that performs flawlessly. (And the Sweetwater price was far below what I had anticipated and was ready to spend).

Not that great

By Sweetwater Customer

I have had this rig for over a year and it's just not held up us well as I though it would. The stand was excellent in the first few months but then noticed that it began to wobble. Since then the levels have bent, making it difficult for the legs to lock in place and the wobbly stand has put me in the market to look for another. I transport it once a week and take good care of it, so it's not due to excessive wear and tear...it just hasn't lived up to expectations.

Gator Frameworks Heavy Duty Keyboard Table

By Judi M.
Music Background: Mostly piano and keyboard

This keyboard stand is exactly what the title says "Heavy duty" keyboard table. I had been using a top of the line double X-type keyboard stand for my full size Kawai ES-6 digital piano because x-type stands were reputed to be the sturdiest, but that darn X got in the way of my legs and feet and using the pedals. Well, they have met their match with this Gator Frameworks table. I have had no wobbling or experience of instability at all. I followed the suggestion of a previous reviewer who said to just give a gentle kick out to the legs when setting it up. Folding it for moving takes only about 10 seconds; it is so easy. I have been using this stand for a few months and am totally satisfied.

Gator Heavy Duty Keyboard Table

By Bob M. from New Hampshire
Music Background: Composition, producer

Got this to support some heavy old stuff that has cluttered up the recording area, and it seems to hold well over 125 pounds handily. Has a little bit of sway, but if there was a keyboard on top, I think it would be just fine. For the bucks, it's a good deal...may order another as we expand the studio area.

Simplicity and stability

By Sweetwater Customer from Ohio
Music Background: Professional musician

We purchased this to use with a Roland RD300-nx. It's not the heaviest or bulkiest keyboard out there, but the stand would seem support any of the standard keyboards I've used.

The stand has been used for the past couple of weeks in a theater pit situation, dark and cramped and busy enough that a double-X stand would cause some trepidation. It has functioned exactly as hoped. It's adjustable enough. It may be "heavy-duty," but it's not heavy to carry. Slots in the panels align perfectly with the rubber feet on the keyboard. I don't believe there would be a problem otherwise, but the alignment provides an extra sense of confidence.

In all, it's one of those minor, essential pieces of gear that we'll use for years and never notice, simply because it does its job. Very pleased.

Solid. Great Deal!

By jgaryt from Dayton OH
Music Background: misspent youth and then some...

Don't have to worry about this stand collapsing like an "x" stand can, and yes, I have had that happen. Seeing your investment crashing to the ground will make you never trust an "x" stand again. Plus, this Gator Frameworks Keyboard Stand is very adjustable, has a built in bubble level, and is crazy solid. I have my Yamaha CP4 stage piano on it, and granted, that's not the heaviest stage piano going, but no matter how hard I play, I never have to worry about this stand. Easy setup, looks nice, and the price is great.

A Disappointment

By Jeffrey from Central California
Music Background: Hobbyist

This was a sad disappointment for me. I had been lusting for the more expensive, high-end stands by various makers. I finally decided, "Hey, it's only a stand, not a piece of art," and went for this one. I was swayed by all the reviews saying how steady and sturdy it was. Nope. I tried everything, with and without weight on the stand. Regardless, it jiggled and swayed. I even turned it upside down and checked all the fittings, looking for places to tighten, etc. No dice. This is no better than a similar, less expensive stand I bought for an old Yamaha 88-keyboard 20 years ago. A cute little bubble level is not enough to make this worth $100.

Sturdy, but tall

By Robert K. from Suwanee, GA
Music Background: Amateur pianist

I needed a sturdy stand for my 50lb KB with enough portability to go in the trunk of a car. This fits the bill very nicely as I really don't care for the less expensive X-style stands.
It's very solid, goes together easily and collapses to a small footprint. My only complaint is that it won't allow my KB to sit at a standard piano height. That's not too big a deal since I have an adjustable bench, but if they made a slightly shorter one, that would ideal for me.

Just what I needed

By Russ S. from Northern California
Music Background: Pro Musician, Recording Engineer, live sound Engineer.

The square tubular framework on this unit makes it about 10 times stronger than the round tubular model which means it will last much longer. One issue with this type of stand is that there can be a slight movement from left to right. To solve this, once there is weight on the stand, just give a slight pull on one set of legs, pulling it away from the other set. This spreads the legs and takes it out. This is how I took care of the wobble of the round tube model, but this eventually cracked the welds of the horizontal leg support bar on that unit. This unit, having square legs, has superior welds and will never break. And it's just all around built better.

Keyboard Stand Works Great!

By Josie J. from Minneapolis, MN

I love my new Gator Frameworks Platform-style Keyboard Stand! The only minor complaint i have is that it is a LOT heavier than i was expecting. I was kind of thinking i might be able to strap it to my keyboard for easy carrying solutions, but it's way too heavy for that. But i suppose that will also make it more sturdy.
