Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 3 High Current 8-output Isolated Power Supply Reviews

Universal Pedalboard Power Supply with 8 Isolated Outlets, X-LINK Expansion Ports, and Detachable Power Cable

The Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 3 fuses noise-free linear regulation with advanced hybrid DC transformer topology to bring you eight isolated DC outputs of extremely quiet, high-current pedal tonic — expandable to 24 outputs using VL's X series expansion modules*. The Pedal Power 3 comes in at a reduced size and lighter weight than previous models and boasts lower noise and a more linear response than the competition. What's more, the Pedal Power 3's international switching gives you rock-solid performance on stages all over the world; as long as your input voltage stays between 100V and 240V, this pedalboard power supply has you covered. You also get two outputs of switchable, linkable 9V/12V operation — so whether you're running standard 9V stomps, a modern 18V compressor, or a vintage 24V delay**, you're on your way to building the board of your dreams with the Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 3.

Pedal Power 3

By Steve from TX

I would like this even more if both the 9v-12v switchable outputs were both 500ma.

Great power supply

By David S. from ARVADA, CO

Got this one about six months ago to eliminate all those wall warts as my pedal board gets bigger all the time. Plenty of outputs plus switchable power which is a nice option. I accidentally forgot to turn this puppy off a couple times. Once it was on for 2 days before I realized it and when I noticed it I thought for sure it was going to be red hot or even damaged from being on too long, and it was barely warm to the touch. So that tells you how well it handles voltage and current draw.

Old dog learning new tricks.

I am learning through trial and error that there is a difference between getting power to your pedals and powering your pedals. Finding out just why my Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 3 was 230 dollars and my other one was 30 dollars. Yeah there's a difference and not just in price.

I noticed a massive difference today when I plugged in my old "Pedal power" (not a VooDoo Lab pedal) and my Empress distortion counted c@strated. It initially had me worried, then realized I'm basically using a daisy chain and with several pedals plugged in, it just didn't have the power to push. Switched it out with my VooDoo Lab's and it all sounded right.

Long and short of it, if you want to get your pedals to their full powered potential, I'd recommend this. Not going to lie the price tag is painful, but if you do it, I would recommend.

YEEESSSSS!!!!...and it even powers my Valeton!

By Karl K. from Suttons Bay, MI

I was hoping the Voodoo Lab PP3 would help take care of some of the noise issues with my board and, sure enough, it did the job. With the PPAP current doubler adapter, it pushes enough current to power my Valeton GP200R without issues. Once the Templeboard mounting brackets get here, the pedalboard will finally be done (for now). Another zero-regret purchase. Thanks for your help, Jeremiah!

Finally! Isolated power with enough juice to power my whole rig

By Kris from PA

For many years I used a cheap Donner system. It was supposed to be isolated power (false), and it was supposed to have sufficient power for all my pedals including a couple 12V power hogs (also false). About 3 months ago I went amp-less, straight into the PA. So I have a dual tube pre-amp with an effects loop going out to a Two-notes cabinet emulator. With the added power needed, the Donner just wasn't cutting it. I immediately noticed from time to time power dropped out from my signal. Not good.

If you have a couple big pedals in your chain, you need to upgrade to this. Those cheaper systems just don't work. With Pedal Power 3 - I have my full rig powered with a single power source. With everything powered by the PP3, my rig looks like this...

1) guitar to tuner followed by overdrive and distortion pedals
2) distortion to pre-amp
3) effects loop sent to chorus, reverb, delay
4) return to pre-amp, out to cabinet emulator
5) then straight to house PA (and returned via in-ear monitors)

Seriously, what a difference this pedal has made. cleaner signal, all the power I need with total reliability. If you're using in-ear monitors, you'll definitely notice a difference. Those things return everything in your chain. And I can definitely hear a significantly cleaner signal.

Excellent power and features for the price. Backed by a solid name.

By Robert L. from ALTOONA, PA

Powers my pedals and wireless effortlessly. High power draw pedals? No problem. I run a pile of Strymon pedals along with a Shure GLDX wireless and a digitech drop (high drawing pedals) and this thing barely blinks at it. Excellent piece of kit.

Smaller, lighter, and just as good

By Nathan from Ellettsville, IN
Music Background: Hobbyist and gear enthusiast

I run two different pedalboards. One studio, one travel. In my travel board (also called the budget board), I tried a couple other big name supplies, but was still getting some noise between my pedals and pre-amp. I don't think the others were really isolated despite being marketed as such. I decided to 'bite the bullet' and just invest in another Voodoo lab supply and it solved all my noise issues. Now, both my boards run these (one 4x4 and one 3). Couldn't be happier with these supplies.

I can also report that these are still compatible with the Temple Audio brackets.
