Wampler Dual Pantheon 2-channel Overdrive Pedal Reviews

2-channel Overdrive Guitar Pedal with Individual Controls, Independent Voicing and Gain Range Switches, Stacking Order Switch, Stereo I/O, and MIDI I/O

Wampler’s Pantheon has garnered a reputation as one of the most accurate blues-breaking pedals on the market. Now, with Dual Pantheon, you get double the destructive goodness. As the name suggests, the Dual Pantheon contains two independent Pantheon circuits, each with a different voicing. The first channel reproduces Clapton’s blues-breaking guitar tone. Meanwhile, the second channel offers an updated, boutique take on that classic tone. Each channel comes with individual controls — gain, level, treble, and bass — to dial in your sound. The gain channels are independent, which allows you to choose whichever tone you want or cascade both circuits for crisp harmonic distortion. That tonal flexibility, coupled with stereo I/O and MIDI I/O, make the Pantheon Dual the most versatile Wampler pedal yet. Order your Pantheon Dual from Sweetwater and start breaking new blues ground of your own.

Tons of tone options

By KH from Zionsville, IN on January 22, 2024 Music Background: Hobby Player

Very versatile. Can dial in some great tones with this. Build quality is what you'd expect from Wampler. Would buy again. Of course, Sweetwater service and shipping were perfect.

1yr 10mos later...

By Paul from here and now on October 10, 2023

I seriously believe red channel (right side) is one of the best low gain/soft clipping drives I have ever used. It just sounds amazing, adding to the overall tone, articulation, and thickess of the sound. Has to be the best Bluesbreaker OD ever. The left side gains up rather well and that is how I use them. I have mine piped into my switcher on separate loops and stack them with all sorts of other stuff. That channel A is a real treat, has kept me from trading it off for almost 2 yrs now. For me the best pedal Wampler has done.

Great Overdrive/Distortion

By Eric from Ohio on September 26, 2023 Music Background: 50 years Rock and Country

I run the two sides separately into my HX Effects unit and the out to either a Boogie Fillmore or a Quilter Mach 3. I'll guess it works well with about any amp you use. I use the left side basically as a boost and the right side as a higher gain OD/distortion thing. I also use a blues driver in front of the left side as a mid gain thing. Great pedal with a whole lot of bang for the buck!

Awesome versatile pedal.

By Martin Vaz from Chula Vista, CA on September 14, 2023

This pedal pretty much by accident became my favorite pedal on my board due to its versatility, channel 2 it's my to go when it comes to clean tones and channel 1 for those chunky tones, now when both channels are engaged you got some pretty cool lead tones out of it, you can do it all just with this one pedal, is so good that i have another one on my smaller board, highly recommended.

Great and versatile!

By Luis Gonzalez from Miami on July 6, 2023

Two channels of great sounding blues breaker , KOT-type sounds, but with the added flexibility of MIDI, in case you need it. I use it in front of my Quad Cortex, and control which side turns on and off via MIDI with my QC. For me, that functionality made it my top choice over other many good sounding KOT pedals.

The Pantheon also has additional sound-shaping options that you don't find in other KOT types. Highly recommended!

Swiss-Army Overdrive

By Rob W from NC on June 19, 2023 Music Background: 45 Years Experience

Unbelievable how versatile this pedal is. And because it came from Wampler, every setting sounds fantastic. Like others have said, channel 1 is best at light OD/edge-of-breakup tones, channel 2 sounds best with the gain maxed, and stacking them together just kicks your tone into creamy saturated goodness. Put the boost of your choice in front of it (Bogner Ecstasty for me) and the sky's the limit.
I have been playing guitar for 45 years and have bought & sold 10 times the pedals I currently own. The Dual Pantheon is the best sounding OD (in more ways than one) I've ever played through. An instant classic.
***Btw, in case the size is an issue, it's not quite as big as the pictures make it seem to be. Fits neatly on a Pedaltrain Classic JR (see pic).

after some time and attempts at bumping back to the board....

By Paul on May 12, 2023

I had to realize after trying a bunch of new drives that the right channel std BluesBreaker on this pedal is just not beatable. I tend to keep it low gain and low clipping and it just sounds great with any amp/guitar. Just adds that something to the tone and stacks well with anything else. I find the left side to be best w the high gain and si clipping but I seldom have need for a pedal high gain these days. My Synergy rig handles all the gain stuff. The right side BluesBreaker is just a beautiful thing, I just had to bring it back to the board. I would buy this one alone by itself in a second. It is just better than the old vintage and running it at 18v improves the headroom even more.

Wampler Quality Sound and Craft as Usual

By James on May 10, 2023

I am a self-admitted Wampler fan boy, but for good reason, they sound great! In a world of pedal overload Wampler always delivers. This pedal is special IMHO. To me it sounds like it captures the old Marshall sound in a little blue box. It's got that high treble brittleness and sizzle that cuts thru the mix in a pleasant way. I don't own an original Bluesbreaker pedal or that other purple boutique pedal that sound nerds are in love with. If they sound anything like this one, I can understand the hype. I went to GNR a couple summers ago, and this pedal reminds me of the tones I heard Slash getting live. I noticed Slash's sound was very clean and clear with top end bite that cut thru the super dense mix. I also noticed there was very little gain driving his sound. It was very clean, clear, and sustaining. I was able to get something similar with the Pantheon. Single coils and humbuckers sound equally inspiring thru the Pantheon. I really don't have a bad thing to say about it. If you want bone crunching filth this is not your pedal. It's a low - mid-gain sound with a lot of clarity and a slight mid bump (I said slight, its not a tube screamer at all) that helps to cut thru. I'm very satisfied.

One thing I hate...

By Steven Bassett from Pascoag, RI on January 5, 2023

Now I have to sell all my other high-gain and overdrive pedals. With A and B testing, my "other $300 overdrive" is now obsolete after a year of being king of the board, a no-brainer decision. It has everything from super creamy overdrive to crisp, heavy, tight high gain where you hear every string sing out in every chord, I did not need a sound gate either. I played a Gibson LP Standard with EMG Hetfield's clean into a 50W Blackstar St James with 6L6s, and this is my first Wampler. I only mention this because different gear yields different results. I designed and built ultra-high gain, ultra-quiet, 100-watt tube amps from scratch for decades and I am telling you, these people understand overdrives, buy this pedal!

Great pedal with double channels

By Sweetwater Customer on December 27, 2022 Music Background: Guitarist

Just got this. Really another great one from Brian Wampler. Two channel pedal. Based on blues breaker style but has so many options with clipping and gain. You can make it sound however you want. And you can have one channel go into the other and vice versa. Really great. Endless possibilities. It had nothing but great reviews. Tom Quayle did a great demo of it. Convinced me to buy it.

Dual Pantheon is a Death Knell for K.O.T.

By Dr. Danz from Port Orange, FL on October 17, 2022 Music Background: 40+ years professional, live, studio, etc.

This pedal is fantastic--everything from pushed cleans, to JTM blues grind, to classic rock, to old school metal (when both sides are engaged). The flexibility of this pedal is awesome as well...many gain structures and tonal options. I have owned an original Pantheon for 3 years now, and from the first chords I realized it was a lifetime keeper. I've used it through an amp simulator (Tech 21 Fly-Rig), and a Mesa Fillmore 25 head--it sounds brilliant through each of them. Rich responsive tone with depth and character, and an amp-like feel under your fingers. Now, with it offered as a dual pedal, it really doesn't get any better than this. The K.O.T. is dead! Thank you Sweetwater for killer service, and to Brian Wampler for designing and building the best pedals on the planet.

Perfection in a box

By Rob from Michigan on May 26, 2022

I greatly enjoy the versatility of dual-channel overdrive pedals - having more than one flavor of "dirt" in a single box (and a single power supply is another plus). The Pantheon Deluxe does that extremely well, and as someone else said, it's a "tweaker's dream" due to all of the controls and flexibility. I think channel 1 is great for light OD, and channel 2 hits a bit harder. Both channels sound great, and stacking them together sounds massive. I previously had an Xotic Effects BB plus dual overdrive, which was good... I never thought my Xotic was lacking until I played it side-by-side with my Pantheon. To my ears, the Pantheon Deluxe is everything the Xotic gave me, but just MORE, and I'm super happy with it.

Solid overdrive options!

By Chase Breaux from Breaux Bridge, LA on April 16, 2022

I have the regular Pantheon and it's great! With even more options / stacking with the Deluxe there is surely a tone you'll find that you love. Can get into some really heavy gain territory, or simple beautiful clean tones.

The Real King

By Rob from Appalachia on March 12, 2022 Music Background: 35 years as a musician

Never thought the King would be dethroned from my board. The Pantheon is the total package. This is how a Bluesbreaker should be done!

Pantheon Deluxe…

By Robert Hughes from Lisbon, Ohio on February 28, 2022 Music Background: Just your average Weekend warrior lol. School of hard knocks with various bands from country to rock.

Awesome pedal extremely versatile with all the tonal options Brian is known for. From light OD to Distortion territory it's in there! definitely has a permanent spot on my board right beside others from the Wampler pedal family.

Best Overdrive Distortion Pedal Ever!

By Richard from Florida on February 12, 2022 Music Background: Guitar- Ohio rock, New Orleans jazz, Florida fusion.

This pedal is amazing. From the subtle clean blues to all out metal you can't find everything and anything in between. Fantastic articulation and dynamic response when you pluck your strings, sweet harmonics in the overdrive, unlike any other pedal for distortion that I have used. I have played guitar for 50 years and I play rock jazz and fusion, and this one box gives me all the tones I could ask for. You will not be disappointed. Just get it!

Typical Wampler Quality

By Matt Mylroie from ID on January 20, 2022 Music Background: 30+ years of guitar, recording, mixing, and producing

Like all Wampler pedals - this is built like a tank, looks great, tons of tone-shaping options, and sounds fantastic. If you can't get good sounds out of this, it isn't the pedal...

This pedal is a tweaker's paradise - which I recognize might be a nightmare if you are a one-knob set-it-and-forget-it type of person - but I personally love the flexibility. Any guitar. Any amp. Any style - you can dial in something great.

I really like channel one on the low gain/soft clipping setting. It delivers beautiful clean and low-to-moderate breakup sounds. It can really rock as well, but I am very partial to the lower gain settings. Channel two has a slightly different vibe, and I find it very useful for both low and high gain sounds. To my ears, channel one has a bit more presence and feels a bit more organic, while channel two feels a bit more smooth and modern.

Literally every pedal on my board is Wampler other than my tuner, looper, and Wah. Great gear, great sounds, great company, and Made in the USA!

This pedal is amazing and versatile, even for metal

By David from Tennessee on January 7, 2022 Music Background: Rock and metal guitarist

I would put a video I did using this pedal but it's not letting me for some reason. This is a very versatile pedal. It's amazing and it can get bright if you wish lol. An overdrive for bridge pickup and neck. I'd buy more of these if I had the money

Wampler Does It Again

By Mike from Texas on January 6, 2022

This is one of the finest pedals I've ever had the pleasure of plugging into. While I've never played through a KOT it, is hard to imagine it getting much better than this. Brian Wampler just has one of the best ears in the business IMO when it comes to developing great drive pedals. While I haven't had it very long, I think there's a great chance this one will be on my board for a long time to come. Many thanks to Chris Jenkins and the Sweetwater crew for getting this out to me so quickly.

seriously, this one, GET IT!!

By Paul A. from in a van down by the river on January 1, 2022 Music Background: heavy fusion

(can't remember if I sent in a review on this or not yet)
Spare me the hype and lore of the 4yr wait KOT, this puppy is more optioned and full of tones from low gain to high gain, which I seldom use but this one works even w my uber gain Synergy stuff. The option switches are just outstanding and so versatile I don't know if you could count the options available. A total top shelf tone beast! I cannot ever see another drive bumping this one off the board it can do just so much, integrates w everything, noiseless (except the except uber gain bit of hiss, which is normal) but seriously Brian has created the God pedal, destined to be a classic for sure. I was watching HP42 review this and he said he could not hear the clipping options, he must be deaf, they were dramatic and all useful, not a bad tone in this puppy no matter what you dial up, try one bet it bumps anything else you have off the board!

WOW!!!

By Mike from SF Bay Area on December 9, 2021 Music Background: Home Studio musician

For ANYONE waiting for a KOT (waiting list is 4yrs and climbing! Forget the wait! As this pedal does the KOT sound and MUCH MUCH MORE!!!
I was pleasantly surprised at the stellar tones this pedal produces. Simply terrific and the sound is just superb..
Brian Wampler makes amazimg products and theyre built like brick sh*t houses! I don't see how you could go wrong with this pedal. Ive had it for 3 days and have moved pedals around to accomodate this wonderful pedal.
My other pedalboard, thats in the works, and built around the Cornerstone Gladio, will have to wait just a bit longer, as I'm having a blast with this pedal.
Lotsa'fun too be had!!!

Killer pedal folks!
