excellent product

By Shane B. from Milan, OH

I was planning on just buying the Panarama T12 Controller for logic pro 11 But, also needing a new keyboard too. so Before buying The Panarama T12 seen the T6 Keyboard . After doing some much needed research found that the Panarama T6 Keyboard also has a built in controller Which in my opinion saved a few hundred dollars. getting the keyboard with the integrated controller. Weighted keys give the feel like your actually playing a Piano.

Shockingly well built and full featured controller

By Scott D. from Northampton, PA

I am using the T6 to control IK multimedia B-3X on iOS. It is a joy to say the least. It takes a few minutes to get things like drawbars/faders working properly. But that's to be expected. Once it's set and you settle into playing this controller feels exactly like you're sitting behind vintage Hammond or a clone wheel keyboard costing 10x the price. I will be using this in conjunction with a hammer action controller for live performance. Given the build quality of the T6 I have no doubt it will provide years of trouble free performance.

Easy Set-up

By Jimmy from Crystal Beach, Texas
Music Background: Bedroom Producer, Guitarist (of limited talent)

Had it out of the box and using in about 30 minutes. Integration with Logic Pro was quick and easy. Recorded a couple of tracks the same day. Still lots to learn to learn. Looks like this is exactly what I was looking for.

Focused on Harware Synth Control

By Sweetwater Customer

I purchased the Nektar T6 to control multiple Hardware Synths. I have never tried to use this controller with a DAW

PROs:
* The Keybed is great and comes with good velocity sensitivity & channel aftertouch - it can be very expressive.
* The Pads feel great too, they also have velocity and aftertouch.
* Note repeat is great to use.
* The Arpegiator is fantastic, and can receive clock from the midi (This isn't in the manual but does exist in the newest firmware).
* The Contols are high quality, they haven't gotten sticky or loose in the 2 years I've used it.
* The quick change preset buttons.
* The pads are considered separate Presets that can be mapped (linked) to a general Preset or unlinked.

CONs:
* No PC customization software.
* I cannot change the color of the Pads.
* Difficult to get new firmware, or updated manuals - I had to email the company for the newest firmware. Their site & support sucks!
* The "Presets" cannot be renamed.
* Presets cannot have their own midi channel for the keybed, the keybed always plays on the global midi channel.
* No CV out.

In my case, this controller is something that doesn't work great for hardware synths. Especially without the preset customization software. Creating a preset for a hardware synth, getting all the CC messages correct is very time consuming. I doubt that these issues would be encountered when using a DAW.

Opinions May Vary, But...

By Magilla66 from PNW

If you're looking at this keyboard, you probably already know about its performance features and capabilities. This review assumes you're an informed consumer and know what kind of MIDI controller you want. Perhaps you're not aware of what else you were buying in addition to the hardware:

When it comes to satisfying the customer's needs, both Sweetwater and Nektar Support go above and beyond the norm to deliver outstanding top-notch service.

Case in point: I recently bought this keyboard as a B-stock closeout unit, and I knew it had its unique characteristics from being used as a demo unit (cosmetic blems and one broken fader knob). Got a great deal on it in spite of its condition, considering there were only two functional flaws with it, one being the fader knob and the other being a key that intermittently would send aftertouch messages when the key wasn't intentionally engaging it.

As always, dealing with Sweetwater is hassle-free, so setting up a return of the B-stock unit with my Sales Engineer Cody Kraus would have taken all of maybe a minute to do.

Nektar support sent me a (free!) replacement circuit board to fix the issue of the broken fader, but also offered the option of sending it to them for (free!) repair service. I discovered the second issue, the intermittent aftertouch key noise, after replacing the circuit board but from what I could tell, this issue would require a complete teardown to service. I was sure I had come to the end of my support with Nektar, but to my surprise they have sent me a shipping label and will repair the issue at no charge...

Depending on whether the renewed keyboard performs as good as new, I'll have to decide which T6 to keep, since I just ordered a brand new one to use in the interim.

It just works

By Sweetwater Customer from Orange County, CA
Music Background: Novice keyboarder

After trying a controller from another maker (rhymes with R2ria) I had low expectations. I was pleasantly surprised. The registration process worked and the software has worked flawlessly with Logic Pro and the Apple M1 chip. Using the Nektar integration gets my head out of the DAW screen. I can't rate support because I didn't need it.

So far, everything has been great.

By Brenda A. from St. Petersburg, FL

Keeping it simple - I've had it for almost a year now and I'm really enjoying working with this. This is my first keyboard controller and I use it solely for making music. I don't recommend it for someone who needs an actual keyboard to also be able to practice and/or perform with, however.

Simply Awesome!

By James from Gulf Coast, FL.
Music Background: 40 year career musician: Guitar, Bass, Harmonica, Vocals, Keys

I'll start with my only complaint, it doesn't have 88 keys!

Once I set this midi board up and integrated it with Reaper I spend less time looking at the pc screen and more time focusing on playing and creating.
For the price you certainly can't go wrong with the T6 and I knew next to nothing about midi and programming drums that "feel".
For me there is a huge learning curve but I was making music right out of the box.
There is a literal cornucopia of VST's out there and no end to the projects I have in mind.

I always have to shout out to Alex Campos for the awesome job he does getting new gear to me quickly.

High quality controller

By John H. from Fremont, CA
Music Background: Hobbyist

I originally wanted the P-series for the motorized fader and weighted keys, but after talking with a rep from Nektar, was convinced that the T-series was better for my needs. Very happy with it so far (about a week).

The keybed is much higher quality than many others I've tried out. The keys are stiffer (not too stiff though) and stay in place better (not wobbly). All the buttons and sliders and pads feel solid. The keys and pads are responsive and have multiple response curves.

I haven't gotten fully into the functionality of the thing yet. It's quite powerful and I think will take me some time to learn, but easy enough to use out of the box. I particularly like the integration files available for Reaper and some of the Native Instruments programs. You can also use Nektarine for managing your VST instruments within the DAW, and I've seen quite a few videos faorably comparing it with Komplete's native software.

My only surprise is that the pictures make it look a bit smaller than it is. It's fairly tall compared with some controllers, so keep that in mind if your keyboard tray is particularly short.

Great keyboard - wish it came ready to go

By Joe
Music Background: drummer/mixing engineer/recording engineer/producer

The only reason this is not 5 stars is because of all the work and digging I had to do to get this thing working as advertised.

Out of the box it did not work as advertised. The transport controls would not even work in Reason or other DAWs. The pads also had a weird malfunction with double trigger issues. I tried calling Sweetwater but after being on hold I gave up and kept digging myself.

PoohBear on Youtube saved me, look him up.

You will need to go to the Nektar site and register your product and download support files for your DAW, install those on your computer. You will also need to install Nektarine. You will also need to download the T6 firmware update.

Firmware update: The online instructions are wrong, so is the guide. The buttons they say to press are not present, very unprofessional. After you download the firmware, turn off your T6. Hold the "shift" button and button below fader 9 while you turn it on. The screen should be blank and you can now install the firmware update, following the instructions. Make sure you choose the T6 option, and not the T4 option.

Now that I've done all this, it seems to be working fine. Controls are great. Working as advertised. I spent a lot of time shopping and determined this was the best for me and it's amazing.

this is unbeatable

By Yevhen
Music Background: classic piano

If you are looking at this, you are probably choosing between the Akai MPK's and Nektar products in general, as I have. Look no further.

I've been using this with REASON for 6 months after returning the MPK261. It's not just the price issue, but this device just puts AKAI to shame in all aspects. I bought T6 primarily for the key quality (Akai are flimsy toy-quality half-sized keys - just garbage, unplayable if you have piano training - something they don't tell you enough in reviews), but, personally, I think the pads are also better here after you've fiddled with the sensitivity option.

I can't compare the "DAW integration" part with AKAI, since I haven't got into that on the MPK - MAYBE they are on par, which I doubt, but for T6 it is pretty effin thought through. I noticed that I'm looking up at the screen way less, and now I'm only using the mouse for the sequencer.

Cons: Compared to the AKAIs, it looks quite dull. Who cares?
