Great!!
This is is a great di. It's not as noisy as the Fishman Platinum Pro.
Impressed
Have not used it live yet but thus far in rehearsals it has worked well.
Radial solid pro gear
using for Uke and guitar, excellent balanced signal, quite, great EQ and other very mindful and useful options. Solid built to last. I have other Radial products, Love Radial
Easy To Get Authentic Acoustic Sound
I use the Radial PZ-Deluxe to amplify my Martin 00-18 that has a K&K Pure Mini pickup. I'm very impressed with how easy it is to get a very acoustic sound using either a PA (using the D.I. out) or a Fishman Loudbox mini amp (using the amp out). The mute switch is also a nice feature for tuning and unplugging/plugging in a guitar without annoying pops. Will be adding to my pedalboard after upgrading my power supply to get the required 15 volts for the PZ-Deluxe.
Radial Tonebone PZ-Deluxe
Amazing sound, absolutely amazing sound. period. Highly recommend!
Awesomeness
I use this with an Eastman Mandolin playing through a Fishman Loudbox Artist Acoustic Amp, using an LR Baggs mandolin pickup. It sounds totally awesome. I am extremely pleased with the sound and ease of setup and ease of use. The boost switch is adjustable and perfect for a little extra kick cutting through the mix during solos. As always, thank you Sweetwater for the advice, great deals, fast shipping, and the best customer service ever...
Simply the best!!
After many years of using and being familiar with Radial gear, I was no stranger to it. As a working professional in the music industry the number one factor is durability, then flexibility then value. When the time came to select a unit for my acoustic steel/spanish acoustic pedalboard system I wanted to check the PZ Deluxe and OMG!!! one word, amazing!!!, the EQ, the quietness of the DI, extremely famous Radial rugedness. Simply the best.
Another PZ
I purchased a PZ-Pre and liked it so much (see my review for that product) I decided to purchase a PZ-Deluxe for a backup. Everything I said about the Pre can be said about the Deluxe. The Deluxe is simply a slightly simpler (one channel vs two channel), slightly less expensive version of the Pre, but retains all the other good stuff (per my review of the Pre) of the Pre.
Amazing!
This is hands down the best acoustic instrument preamp I have ever used. I have used LR Baggs, FIshman, and K&K pres and this beats them all. I use mostly K&K pickups but have also tried it with undersaddle piezos and my McIntyre resophonic pickup. I literally cannot find a pickup that this thing doesn't compliment! Works particularly well with my Breedlove mandolin(w/K&K pickup). In fact I would consider this the best mandolin pre out there. The ability to cut the lows helps a lot with ukes, mandolins, and parlor sized guitars. Built like a tank too! If you're looking for a preamp, look no furthur....this is it!
Best Acoustic Preamp I have ever used
I have used Taylor ES systems, Fishman, LR baggs, and most recently I have K&K pickups in my guitars and have been using the K&K Pure XLR pre which I have been satisfied with. I wanted to have a boost switch and a mute for tuning and changing guitars while performing. The Radial Tonebone PZ-Deluxe had everything I wanted in a foot switch based design. I was hoping it would sound as good as the K&K preamp. When I plugged it in I was blown away. It was dead silent, had lots of tone shaping control, adjustable boost, phase switch and sweepable mids to fight feedback and to top it off, it just sounded better than anything I have used before without coloring the sound. I would imagine this preamp will make any acoustic guitar pickup sound better. I can't think of anything I would change about it except for maybe the power supply. I was unable to test one out and even called up Radial Engineering about compatibility with the K&K pickups. They didn't really have much experience in that area but I decided to buy it anyway. This is a real quality piece of gear that I highly recommend. The only minor weakness is the power supply seems not that robust and it 15Volts and 400ma which is not a standard for pedal board power systems. Just buy it...
Tonebone PZ-Deluxe
Tonebone PZ Deluxe works great. It's just what I needed to improve the sound of my acoustic with a piezo pickup.
