Casio's Privia digital pianos are renowned for their authentic playability and lifelike sound. Now, the PX-S1000 brings a fresh new design to the Privia series, bringing smart technology into your musical life. With its sleek glossy panel and unibody chassis, the PX-S1000 evokes a high-end acoustic grand, in a svelte modern design that's not much larger than the keys themselves. And thanks to Casio's newly designed fully weighted Smart Scaled Hammer Action keyboard, the PX-S1000 provides uncompromising piano touch with a proprietary key scaling system that reproduces the characteristics of each of the 88 notes, while ebony and ivory key textures ensure confident, comfortable playing in any climate.

Great!

By Amber G. from Knoxville, IA

I worked for another large name music store where I fell in love with this keyboard. And now having it in my house it is even better. I got this in the red...red is kind of my thing my strat is red and my epiphone wildkat is red. So when I saw this in red I knew I had to have it. I have played piano since I was seven years old. I started out with an old organ that I bought myself with my allowance at a garage sale and for Christmas when I was 10 my grandpa bought me a keyboard from radio shack...and until today I've had that same keyboard and I have no doubts the Casio Privia sx-1000 will help me take my playing to the next level. Thanks to Chris Neyman who is always helpful:)

The slim form factor has pros and cons

By Sweetwater Customer

I use this keyboard for practice when I can't play our acoustic (nights, early mornings, someone else in the family is using it). The action is ok, but when you are deep on the black keys the amount of pressure needed feels a lot different compared to when you are playing on the fronts of them. After Googling this a bit, it seems this is probably related to how slim the keyboard is and therefore how short the action has to be. Personally I find it pretty jarring. Guitar is my primary instrument - I am not a real pianist, so maybe someone who has more technique would feel differently, I don't know. The other con to the slim form is that putting it on a standard X-shaped stand is a bit awkward. There is a good amount of unused stand depth and it can slip around.
In the pros column - it looks nice when turned off. I'm sure if you use it with the Casio stand it would look even better and really not take up a lot of the room, compared to most keyboards, which can be important in a tight space. The sounds are quite good for this price.

Very good quality

By Sweetwater Customer

Plays beautifully. Excellent bass sound, and mid range, decent treble tone. Weight of keys is not very heavy, so if you like a heavier action, don't use this. But if you like a lighter action, this is it!

Exactly what I need for the price

By Gunnar from Stamford, CT
Music Background: Professional cellist - beginning pianist

If you need a slim keyboard, with a few different sounds such as organ and harpsichord this is it. I am a professional cellist but not yet a keyboard player, so this is the perfect start for me. With some additional amplification it works very well. For me, the difference between my good upright piano and this keyboard is minimal. I can study in quiet with headphones and then play for my teacher on the piano without any major problems. For the price, and for me, this is just right.

Great little piano with one caveat

By Chad

This thing punches way above its weight class. I'm very happy with the playability, weight of the keys, action, etc. the only issue I have with it is that it cannot disable the speakers when outputting to 1/4" cables without putting a dummy 1/8" plug in the headphone jack. Otherwise, it's brilliant, mobile, beautiful, and perfect for taking to a wedding and setting up for a pianist to play on.

Well worth the price

By Sweetwater Customer

I've been playing an acoustic piano forte for many years in my home, but grew tired of keeping it in tune and thought how nice it would be to never have to tune my piano again. I really love the sound and feel of an acoustic, so was very hesitant about going digital and wondered if I could keep the cabinet and install a digital into it. Well, this keyboard fit the bill perfectly. It's compact size fit right in place of the keys on my acoustic, and I installed some good powered three-way speakers inside the cabinet. This Casio feels and sounds like a grand piano to me, and no more tuning!

Super price, great for playing on stage, a nice spare

By Pianoplayer100
Music Background: Performer and teacher

I first played this instrument while looking to recommend a beginner instrument for a student, I went home traded in a yamaha digital and bought this instrument. A lot of the digital instruments don't have an out feature so you must use the headphone jack as an out. This piano has two out jacks and is a super practice piano and is a great back up if your main piano is down for whatever reason, I couldn't believe the ivory feel keys and sound. So, I will leave it set up a practice instrument and use it in situations where I don't feel like pulling out my main piano of those jobs where you must knock down in five minutes.

Perfect for our family

By Mike from California

We were looking for a weighted digital piano for our family. We wanted a slim keyboard to fit in a tight space, but with realistic-feeling keys and a good acoustic piano sound. I asked my awesome Sweetwater Sales Engineer James Masterson for his recommendation. He told us to check out this piano instead of some higher priced options. This piano is 100% perfect for us. My kids are learning to play and really enjoying having a piano at home. My wife and I also use it to play classical and jazz.

Its a great setup in a home with the stand. The piano sounds are very realistic and gets loud enough to play with other instruments. The focus is really on the piano sound. I love the keep-it-simple approach. This model has a bunch of other features, but they are hidden in a nice way that keeps the focus on the piano sound. Too many other digital pianos try to add lots of synthesizer-style options and I find they just get in the way and make basic operations confusing.

Highly Recommended if you are looking for a nice digital piano for lessons and practice!

Incredible Value

By Butch

I've been playing pianos for 65 years and my fingers have traversed many b&w"ivories", including numerous DP's I've owned over the years ranging from the PX-150 to a beloved VPC-1, and many more. The value of this 24.5 pound runs on batteries 88 note weighted action blows me away for its inherent value and absolutely sweet sounding bass. The keys are tight and IMO feel great. If ya want a good sounding board thats extremely portable this will fit your needs.

Surprisingly Awesome

By Korey B. from Shelbyville, KY
Music Background: Freelance Audio Engineer

I bought this piano after a recommendation from my sales rep, Tom. I was actually looking for a weighted hammer action midi controller for my home studio because I wanted something that feels like a real piano and can be used with mainstage/omnisphere as well. I was a little surprised when Tom recommended a Casio digital piano over an Arturia Keylab 88 or a Studiologic SL88 but the keybed feels better than any midi controller I"ve used and so far— I"m thrilled with this thing. The built in sounds are very good for this price range but not perfect and the Bluetooth and app functions are great for anyone wanting to learn to play piano a little better. It works well as a midi controller but obviously, you aren"t going to have all of the extra controls and I"m still trying to figure out if I can adjust velocity and a few other things.

A few things that I would like to point out:
-There is a bit of a learning curve because most of the controls are done by holding a button and pressing a key that corresponds to a certain function.
-It look me a while to get the app to work, but there are tons of handy tools to tweak the sounds and you can use it to control the piano which simplifies things.
-If you are using an ipad with the app, you will probably have to use an apple dongle. I tried to rig up a cable with a usb coupler and it didn"t work.

Overall, I would say this thing is a steal at this price.
