Very solidly made, nice texture. Has just the right amount of "give" to feel kinda like a drum and give the hands a good workout. I prefer the feel of this to my old gum rubber pad :-)

I love the professional feel of this pad with marching snare like rebound. It has a lot of weight to it but it feels sturdy.

The pad surface is a little "springier" than I was expecting...not enough for me to dislike it though. That is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars.

There are quite a few positives:
1) Solid construction
2) The pad adheres to the substrate uniformly across the whole surface. I've had pads in the past where there were voids in the adhesive that actually created dead spots in the pad. Not so with this pad. This also allows for evenness of sound.
3) I play mainly orchestral, jazz and musical theater. As such, I have to play in a wide range of dynamic levels: everything from "whispering" pianissimo to "ear bleeding" loud. Even though I wrote that the pad was "springier" than I was expecting, the most surprising thing is that, when playing extremely soft, the pad actually feels very close to a real snare drum (at least the way I tension the majority of my snare drums). That is a real bonus for me.

So overall I am pleased with the pad. And...a big shout-out to Sean Carolan, the Sweetwater Sales Engineer who spent a good deal of time with me on this.

Prologix is just one of those brands I swear by and this practice pad is one of the reasons why. What separates it from the rest of the rubber based pads for me is a few things. It"s got a rim, it"s round, it fits in a snare basket properly, and it"s american made quality. On top of all that it has a very functional and professional look.
